PoliticsRe: Usa And Canada Sendng Troops To Haiti. US:10,000 Troops seriously? by ElRazur: 1:46pm On Jan 17, 2010
Onwan:
The US (the world's terrorist) has been looking for a way to mount a military base there since Russia is partnering with Venezuela and has a parade of weapons last year.

America is trying to do this everywhere in the world.Which makes me NOT 100% sure that "Earthquake" was natural. I beleive they can stage anything to get an instance of proving themselves as "Helpful"
I know you appear to be a conspiracy theorist, but are you a muslim by any chance? grin
PoliticsRe: Senegal Offers Land To Haitians While Nigeria Has Offered Nothing by ElRazur: 1:44pm On Jan 17, 2010
PapaBrowne:
How can you relate this tragedy to world politicshuh This kind of view is warped mehn! Not impressive at all, especially coming from someone that definitely knows better.
Everybody should help. Its not only rich people or wealthy nations  that should participate in assisting to alleviate the hardship the Haitians are facing.
Everybody, whether you live in the Hamptons or you hawk gala on the streets of Lagos, you can donate your little token.

Senegal has done good and they have shown again that we(Nigerians) are anything but the "giant of Africa".
You don't have to agree with me sir. I merely pointed out how it will be a political issue if Nigeria offers to send help. Please tell me what help Nigeria can offer that cannot be of good use at home?

By the way, I am talking about help from the government, not individual citizens. Please show me what help Nigeria government can offer, and I will tell you where they can put that help to good use at home. smiley

Haiti is far poorer than Nigeria so I don't see your point.
The US is closer. grin

Smuggling into the US is easier than from Nigeria. grin

Beaf:
Even by the end of this year and the next, we wouldn't have solved our problems. Why should sending members of our Red cross and a token military presense be such a big deal? Afterall, nations like Kenya haven't done much more than that.

As they say, it is the gesture that counts. Senegal can make a big gesture because they are far ahead of us at the moment, but there is no excuse for us not making even a token gesture. I can bet you that some countries out there helping Haiti are either at war or have some sort of civil strife.
When was the last time our Red cross was actively involved in incident similar to this? WHat experience and man power do our Red cross have? While I understand it is an international organisation. They won't waste their time picking people from Nigeria, they will have people who can actually make change and have heard experience of some sort.

Why will you want to send in our military? Say what? Again apply the above question here. Having said that, I really do not see the need. Why not send in those redcross and military to the Niger Delta zone? Or patrol the streets of those state wanting sharia? Why haiti? You see how easy these things can become politics?

The earlier we stop thinking we need to do something, the better you will see my point. Nigeria needs "Nigeria time" right now and not those things you are suggesting. grin

Goodluck had beta hurry b4 Turai beats him to it. Someone, maybe Fashola, shud do this 4 us so that the world wil kno that we all hav not joined our prez in Saudi Arabia.
You are a joke. Here, let me explain in simple terms again to you. Nigeria have internal problem that is crippling us. To offer help to an outsider at this point is unwise.

If you sort out your issues internal, then the world will take your country serious. grin

Abi o. They are all professionals. In fact, all politicians are professionals [thieves] at looking after their own interest.

Well, whatever, let it be public. He needs it.
You are missing the point. How many of those 150million in Nigeria right now give a monekys about what is happening in haiti? It is people like you, me and others who bothered about current affairs etc and trust me, we are in the minority. This is nothing to do with Nigeria and as such, let us stay out of it.

To suggest a VP needs this kind of stunt for public ratings is sickening.
Foreign AffairsRe: Obama Appoints George Bush For Haiti Relief Effort! by ElRazur: 1:16pm On Jan 17, 2010
So let me get this straight, because GB is perceived by many as ineffective as a president, that automatically means he cannot be good at any other thing? huh I guess by your logic, since Nigeria is rubbish at almost everything, we can never be good at anything? Nah wah o.

Besides, the president of Senegal is not in Saudi Arabia. Now, if Jonathan really wants to send out a serious signal, he should fly to Haiti and sympatize with them.
Why not a phone call? Why fly down there just to sympathize? Gosh, he will make a mockery of him and those who rule Nigeria.

Also, since the US are now in control of Haiti airport [Signed over by Hati president to the Americans] I will urge them to deny any plane from Nigeria carrying yeye politician a landing permission.

Don't you think that Haitians, despite their ordeal, might publicly turn down the offer if we make one?
You clearly haven't watched different news channels to see the devastation. Just imagine a place like Ojuelgba or another prominent market place looking like a nuclear bomb just dropped.

They need all the help they can get. I will be very surprise if they turn down anything.

Beaf:
But this isn't politics, it is about humanity. Our lack of humanity is also the reason why we are failing internally.
It is. The moment Nigeria offers to donate money, there will be outcry and questions of why is not been used at home. It become politicised.
PoliticsRe: Senegal Offers Land To Haitians While Nigeria Has Offered Nothing by ElRazur: 12:53pm On Jan 17, 2010
Beaf:
Perhaps if we didn't have avoidable "bullsh.it internal problems", Nigeria would naturally be the giant of Africa. Instead, tiny Senegal is showing us up on the international scene; what they have done is the sign of true leadership and love for fellow blacks; at a time Nigeria, with a 5th of the black population, has no leader, due to tribalism and hatred for one another (talkless of loving the wider black diaspora).

This is a time of shame.
Well depends on how you looks at it. Senegal is smaller as made up of few ethnics group. This nation will clearly have lesser issues and easier to govern.

Whatever the case, there is nothing to be ashamed about. It is not a must we get involved in world politics in my opinion. A few nations are "politically neutral" on the world stage and are clearly doing better than us.
PoliticsRe: Welcome To The Republic Of Wazobia by ElRazur: 12:39pm On Jan 17, 2010

PoliticsRe: Usa And Canada Sendng Troops To Haiti. US:10,000 Troops seriously? by ElRazur: 12:36pm On Jan 17, 2010
Have anyone here seen the aerial map view of the before and after of Haiti? Have anyone seen how lawlessness, disorder, et al starting to take hold? Anyone see the amount of civil engineering work and rebuilding the nation needs? Anyone here see the potential disease and death that can further arise from the aforementioned reasons?

Personally, I have no qualms with what the US, Canada and most western country are doing. Good job on them. People need to get a grip with their Anti US sentiments. I suppose some of you here will prefer the US send 500 troops a plane load with food and that is it? From what I can see in the map, it covers about the Size of the Yoruba region. Now imagine 85% of those under rubble.

It cost man power to bring in earth moving equipment, it cost specialist man power to have Search and rescue team, it cost man power for engineers, councilors, surveyors, doctors, nurses etc. On the grand scale of things, 10000 is not enough. But dont let me spoil your anti-us sentiments party. . . smiley
PoliticsRe: Senegal Offers Land To Haitians While Nigeria Has Offered Nothing by ElRazur: 12:29pm On Jan 17, 2010
Yoruba people say na house we look be before we give pickin name. Even the bible talk say "a spec in your eye, and you try to remove a log in mine" Translation be say sort out your bullsh.it internal problem before you go offering help. Whatever is offered to haiti, I am sure many Nigerians can do with that help.

Thumbs up to Senegal, that is Senegal and we aint them. It sucks when people think because we are a so called"giant" of Africa that we have to be seen as big players on the world stage. Oh give me a break! USSR was bigger than us, but when internal problem wasn't sorted. . . .where is her today? Many fragments as a result.

PoliticsRe: Is Democracy Not Too Expensive? by ElRazur: 7:10pm On Jan 15, 2010
Tsiya:
Sharia is a legal system not a political system

Democray is not expensive unless you want to make the principal actors rich. In the case of Nigeria, the fastest root to become rich is kidnapping, then followed by holding a political position. And if it is Nigeria, whatever the political system we have, we aint gonna see much of the money.
You missed the joke. Having said that, tell it to nation who have it adopted and incorporated into their system of government. grin

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Media Condenms Bbc Interview With Yar' Adua by ElRazur: 6:06pm On Jan 15, 2010
I think the thread title should have been "Nigeria Media condemns Yar'dua for interview with BBC".

From my point of view, I think he picked a foreign outlet as a snub to the local media. After all, they are the one reporting speculation and drivel about his death.

As for the media even trying to condemn anyone, have they ever wonder why people do not take Nigeria media serious? Some of them have no idea about the basics of journalism and are more concerned about Sensationalism so as to sell paper.

For example a typical story about an highway accident would be reported with the following headlines: "Motor car tumbles on motorway. Dead body scatter everywhere" when it could be headlined as "Tragic accident on High way leaves scores dead"

I mean, which one will sell paper the most? This is some of the thing killing our media, no quality at all. Sucks.

One person has died after Kenyan police fired live rounds at supporters of a Jamaican-born Muslim cleric notorious for preaching racial hatred.

Let us see if Obama will put his father-land in terrorist watch-list
Where is the logic? To even try and compare Kenya to Nigeria is like comparing apples and a dvd player.
PoliticsRe: Insensitivity of Westerners to the plight of blacks using Haiti as an example by ElRazur: 5:53pm On Jan 15, 2010
While we are talking about haiti, how come no Muslim nation is actively involve and chanting AllahuAkbar? Surely, there are Muslims in haiti? From what I can tell, it is nation perceived as "Christian nations" that are doing all the ground work. . . .Can any one shed more light?

huh

Foreign AffairsRe: Mugabe's Extravagant Life by ElRazur: 12:07pm On Jan 15, 2010
clintonty:
@ElRazur Do you so much believe its not possible for an African President to spend lavishly at the expense of their teeming poor masses? Well this is from a reliable source. You can as well find out. But more importantly, we need African leaders that will make positive leadership impact upon his/her people like Mandela.
That is not the point. The point is anyone can post anything and claim anything. What we need is sources and from there we can make our own mind up.

Going by what MrPresident posted, it appears it is a gift from the Chinese. This goes against what the thread title and content suggest i.e Mugabe uses public money to pay for it or something along those lines.

You see, without challenging the story, one will go away believing that Mugabe did exactly just that, whereas that is an inaccurate view to hold. I am not a fan of Mugabe, but we should at least stick to facts. grin

TravelRe: Why Do Most Nigerians Abroad Feel Too Big (important)when They Come Here! by ElRazur: 11:08am On Jan 14, 2010
Too big? I don't think so - well, from my own experience.

The last time I was in naija, I had an old woman - old enough to be my mum - working as the room cleaner. I was out and about when she came to clean the place. I was furious because my younger cousins let her in to clean up the place. No, I am not furious at the woman, but at my cousins. I mainly pointed out while she is doing her job, she is old enough to be everyone's mother and they [my cousins] should clean up the room - i.e make the beds, sweep the floor etc.

The next day, I had to apologise to the woman. As I really do not feel comfortable with her coming to clean my room. In fact, I paid her not to come back and if any of the senior management ask, she can say the room is cleaned. After this, when ever she sees me on the road after work she would kneel down to greet me. I literally had tears in my eyes begging her to stop and treat me as her son.

Personally, when am home hardly do people know I come from abroad. I do all I can to hide it. On top of that, I am very fluent in Razz talk so I put this on to throw people off. I think the only time is when I try to speak english and my identity is blown [apparently, people from UK speak fast etc]

I think I remember the first time I went to naija, I actually went looking for my old class mates and friends. I even paid a few to travel down to see me. All this was done because I value their friendship before I left and not because I want to show off.

Even when I meet ladies out there, I don't speak in english, but burst pidgin. I think I remember one time I was told I do not come across as someone who "lives in london" this to me is an achievement. grin

Having said all of those, I can see where people are coming from. For example, because more people abroad absorb the culture here and take it back home - I.e keeping yourself to yourself. A lot of folks back home takes that as "disrespectful" and not wanting to interact etc.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Can't Be Acting President - High Court by ElRazur: 10:45am On Jan 14, 2010
Anyone else feel that our constitution is not exactly clear cut and it should be amended as soon as possible. I mean, if matters like this happens in say England, it would have been dealt with swiftly. I cannot for the life of me see Obama going away for almost 50days or so without some sort of issues etc.
