9/11 was done by Alqaeda and we condemned it,Madrid bombins was by alqaeda and we condmened it, 7/7 by alqaeda and we condemened and I dont believe any foul play in any of this

But on this occassion the story doesnt add up for me El Razur and you can say whatever but that i chose to use my brain instead of dancing along the popular perception os not a crime.

You are just a selective reader , you choose what you want to read in my post and pick on what you like, otherwise you will have read where i condemend it if indeed it was a terrorist attack, but asking genuine questions where story doesnt add up is what i feel is right.

It is people like you that silences the sane voice in the muslim world, muslims who are not exremist in thinking but vocal in expressing their opinions and vocal in condemning the foreign policy of other countries. By silencing this kind of opinion is to make the youths react back in terror tacticts ans that is how they feel their voice will be heard.

Your posts only depict a right wing thinking and i have a feeling you are one of the modern christian zionist.
I wont go round the circles again. The story makes sense, if only you are not selective about the known facts. Believe what you want and I will stick to my opinion and view of you. I think that is a fair approach.

Right wing? Christian Zionist? Erm allow me to clear a few things up. I do not subscribe to the school of thought about some big man upstairs called God. As for labelling me as a right wing, I aint right, left or centre. I believe in one thing though, Freedom of the Human race and speaking out against perceive injustices.

What a while load of non-sense as per the headline. I feel free, not living in fear.  If you have no business been here legally, then perhaps you have things to worry about.

Police can profile all they want, if it means greater good of all I have no issues with it.

Lagos boy,

Sir, I am of the belief and opinion that you are a terrorist apology. Pardon me, but from my observation of your posts, you are either making an excuse of some kind - while ignoring the facts at hand. Then you appear to be vocal in any thread that suggest it is some sort of larger conspiracy of some kind. Can you explain these?

For how long do you think you can carry on like these for before people bring these up?

Good idea only that if he is in sick bed, one can argue that he cannot sign and incapable. Hence this move may be flawed? Perhaps another way is to actually begin and action to remove him already? Or check if there is a breach of any constitution that can bring about a vote of no confidence/have him impeached?

I'd rather they do it themselves. Iranians have a stake in the betterment of their country's future. The only stake the Western world have is for the steady flow of oil. They really don't care about Iranian citizens and you know it. Why didn't America interfere in Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi has been a virtual prisoner for years.
Hence why politics is sometimes referred to as "a dirty game".

If you were serious in wanting a change you'd use  the equipment other Nigerian Biomedical Scientist are using.
You see that is another misconception. A BMS is a protected title, so as such, there won't be any in Nigeria. Yes there are Laboratory Scientist, Lab technician, but trust me they are all different from a BMS.

Again that is what one person was attacking me on when I made the point. He claims there are Lab scientist in the lab in lagos blah blah blah.

You won't feel underachieved because you would save more lives in Nigeria than in the UK. Your experience of the Western world would help in educating other Biomedical Scientist.
You really do not understand, I won't be effective, lives may be lost in my hands. I don't know about you, but I really do not feel comfortable about that. smiley

Nigeria is ready but not enough heroes wanting to make the requisite sacrifice in making Nigeria a good Nigeria.
I don't wanna be no Hero, I just want to do what I am trained to do. Nigeria, just so happened no to have the things I need in place. I suggest you look up on what it takes to run a diagnostics laboratory. I am not talking about laboratories where screening for Malaria, Pregnancy, and all other generic procedures are carried out. I am talking about running a lab where you have phlebotomist, transfusion scientist, Haematologist, Microbiologist, Pathologist, Cytologist et al have to work together or individually depending on the case.

It is all easy to claim "Oh yeah you will do it if you really want to do it" etc. But in practice, it is not the way you are claiming.

Are you funding it? Every one knows the US through the CIA channel's money to any opposition ready to sell their country to the highest bidder. Am no fan of Iran and it's revolution but the best the US/UK can do is to remain neutral. I didn't see the Iranians financially supporting John Kerry when G Bush stole the American presidency.
I think there have been papers released that suggested the CIA did play some part financially just before the last revolution. Or something along those lines, I will see what I can dig up.

Personally, I have no problem if that will see a shift of power from the current Mullahs running the country at this point.

Rascism is alive and well in England though I must admit compared to other European nations England is better for immigrants.
We can't give up on our homeland just because Nigeria has numerous problems, thats not a valid reason in my book.
Who do you expect to change things in Nigeria? Indian, China etc never gave up and look how world economy is shifting to their region. You're guilty of what you accuse Nigeria for, you want an "already made country" and so do thousands of Nigerians lining in front of the UK/US embassy.
If racism is alive and well in England - something I am not denying - then Racism flourishing in Nigeria is an understatement. grin

I am not giving up, this is what a few people appears not to understand. In fact, quite the opposite. I want Nigeria to do well, however so many issues are there that it appear it won't be sorted any time soon. Let us put things into perspective shall we?

It took England almost a century - 100 years - to be as advanced as it is right now. How ever, you have to put into consideration that there isn't any computers, technology or various advances for them to take a shortcut. Nigeria on the other hand is 40years plus and we have the computers, the technology and the various modern resources for us to cut short that number of years that it took England. Unfortunately, we are not making use of the chances. We are instead pre-occupy with personal needs, greed, power, corruption - all of these are elements of a backward society, especially when the greater good is been neglected.

I am not keen on a ready-made country, people like me are lucky in the sense that we can call another place home, we are just fortunate and nothing big deal about it.

Speaking of wanting to be part of Nigeria, I was asked recently on these board if I would go home and set up my own business, my answer was NO. You know why? I told them Nigeria is not ready for people like me and instantly, a few people took this as an insult and thinks am a sell out. Well, their problems not mine.

I trained as a Biomedical Scientist - and I am still training [It is one of those jobs where it is a life long training etc] - and given the lack of infrastructure at home, it is almost impossible for me to work effectively. For example, a basic analyser cost almost about £50, 000 and things like Micro assay can range from £10K upwards, then there are things like consumables that are needed daily to allow for analysis in the first place.

Seriously, how many hospitals in Nigeria are equipped for this? You know these things are so expensive that even the hospitals and laboratories here do not buy them outright, but have the machines [main analyser] on a contract hire as it works out cheaper. Then imagine I am in the middle of procedure and bang, there is a blackout - Some of these procedures are time sensitive etc - How do I deal with this? Where is the incentive to want to go home and establish?

You see under those sort of conditions I will not be effective and feel under achieved.  Anyway, you can see why people like me actually want a good Nigeria, but I am not so sure if Nigeria is ready for a Good Nigeria if you see what I mean.

I am not so sure if I answered your question. . . but I think you get the gist. grin

What if there was war, whose side would you be on? I hope its not England. England may have done a lot for me but am reminded of their rascim every day. Try visiting Etham or Rochdale and you'd know what am on about, England is not our home.
What a load of non-sense. Racism is everywhere. Fact. To try and say England/UK is rife or plagued with racism is inaccurate. Yes there are places where racist activities occurs, but not "everyday" like you put it. For the record, Eltham becomes synonymous in the media and amongst close minded people when the issue of Stephen Lawrence happened. How many years ago was that? I think you will find things have moved on.

I have friend in Eltham and that don't make such claims. Besides, I drive past eltham when am going to my friend - who happens to post on this forum too.

So you won't support England even though she's done a lot for you, but you will support Nigeria where Tribalism - a strong form of racism - is almost an everyday thing [You can't deny this]. Just look around this forum to see the issues facing us. And you wanna support such nation? Okay, I respect your choice, but I am not sure I would do the same.

In a fight between UK USA and Nigeria, I think Nigeria stands no chance, so why not hang with the winner? grin

His mum is Nigerian.

He already mentioned to the authorities that he is Nigerian.

Nigeria's authorities are yet to deny he is not a Nigerian. .

Chai ! Do you know the difference between a news organisation and providing a "news service" ?
Naira land is not a news organisation, get it ? It provides news service by linking you to where the news was gotten. Is it on the web pages of the punch that i got to hear of Cecilia's millions ? The link to their site was on NL, thus a news service was provided to me.
When you go to MTV.com and you read the headline of michael Jackson's death and the full story is linked to CNN, hasn't MTV, a music based site, provided you with a news service by informing you of the story and linking you to it ?
Now it is a news service and not a forum? grin Okay. Here, let me help you. You are correct and those of who have said otherwise do just not know what they are saying. smiley

Ok, the source that  originally reported the news is the source right.
So i guess when BBC puts up a picture of Mutallab gotten from sahara reporter, their story is not news. Or when CNN takes feeds from Press TV on the riots in Iran, that too is not news eh ?
Do you know that most of the news you hear are gotten from news agencies like reuters and AFP, why go to CNN when you could easily read it from a news agency sight ?
It is not clear cut like that sir. A news agency or news source [in this case we are talking news source] usually have eyes and ears everywhere.

As for the BBC, I hare to point the obvious, but when one news sources takes info from another source, they tend to give credit where credit is due. Again I hate to point out, but most places that showed the image of the suicide bomber actually acknowledge Sahara reporters as the source.

You know BBC, CNN, Reuters and AFP are real news sources, Nairaland is not any of those organisation. As a result, your points are flawed am afraid.

I think I know how news work, clearly better than you are giving me credit for sir. smiley

Do the owners of Naira land have to put up a disclaimer on every thread that does not link what the OP quotes to a credible source ? Please tell me our education has not fallen to such lows.
It is ironic that given the posts you have made on this particular debate, you can come out and say that. You see, this is why I said you are very funny.

Most have pointed out that this place is not a news source. By the very definition, this is a forum built on some freeware - Read on SMF. grin

You know the place where the news was posted in the first place, the place that had the evidence and confirmed the story before putting it on their site? That is the news source. The guy who just linked to it and posted on a forum. . . Did just that, posted it on a forum. You see the forum do not automatically become a news-source as a result.

On this issue nairaland.com is a public forum and not a new service. And I don't think there is anyway anyone can make the two mean the same thing.

I am happy with the success of the forum but it must take a bold step to improve the quality of discussions if more serious or mature people must get involved in discussions. There are people that will visit and say goodbye to the forum by opening just 1 or 2 threads laden with unwarranted insults, ethnic bigotry and childish comments.
Bingo.

Me and you do not see eye to eye on certain issues, yet we appear to be able to debate without those things you mentioned above. Another thing that get on my nerves is that when one raises concern about the issues above, in the eyes of some, one automatically becomes "bad belle" or what ever.

How many more times do the issue of Quality come up and with little or no action forth coming?
PoliticsRe: Nairaland Quoted In Toronto Star, Canada ---congrat Seun & Nairalanders by ElRazur: 4:16pm On Jan 01, 2010
To try and call this place a new site given the amount of drivel, bickering, racism and tribalism going on is another reason in itself why this place is NOT [I repeat NOT] a new site. Even twitter that is a user generated content have more credibility.

I suppose one of the thread claiming the vice president was involved in a triple sin on a plane blah blah blah is probably news to some people right? Or could it just be another complete drivel?

If I want the latest news, then rss feeds and going to reputable news sources would be the ideal thing most will do. But I guess some people would rather be fed drivel and hence why to such people Nairaland is a news source. . . . ? What a joke.

The title of this thread should have been more appropriately "Nairaland Mentioned In Toronto Star e.t.c."  I suspect that the author of the article plagiarized an article written in allafrica.com by a Nigerian journalist. I additionally suspect that the said author, is a frequent visitor of nairaland and may even be a member.

Here is an extract of the allafrica.com article which was published Dec. 27.  Note that the Toronto Star article was published Dec 31.

Extract from allafrica.com  The plagiarized piece is in bolded text below:

The Toronto Star journalists did not quote anyone on nairaland, but apparently plagiarized as shown above.
I see where you are coming from. And yeah, I agree. However, my understanding of how the report was presented is that nairaland = a news website and a news quote was credited to them. See the quote below:

"There are insinuations that since Nigeria's driver's seat has been vacant, the country has run like a vehicle with a full load of passengers yet without anyone controlling its direction," said the nairaland.com news service[size=10pt][/size]. It warned there could be a "fatal crash" unless drastic measures are taken to put competent hands on the wheel.

Happy New Year to all especially Afam and RichyBlack not forgetting old foes like Davidylan, I-Man/4-Play, TayoD etc. My new year resolution is to come here more often. Greetings.

@ElRazur
Nairaland is not a news service agreed, blame it on poor research on the part of the journalist. BUT WAIT! That is not what I want to talk about.
My email questioned the research carried out on the part of the Journalist, but I guess you missed that out.

Your quasi-sophomoric mind was active some time ago when you stated you refused to come back to Nigeria because the State of Nigeria can't afford the equipment you'd need in your profession. (I'd like to see your farrago of degrees).I lost all respect for you afterwards.
Your problem, your prerogative not mine. I still stand by my point. I cannot work in a place where the "tools of my trade" are not available for me to carry out my job effectively.

I also thought your constant jibe at the moderators was just a caprice until you stated your intension of wanting a website of your own.(what ever happened to that dream?).
I raise issues that I see is lacking around here. Clearly you have a problem with that, but I don't think I am about to stop. Yes I considered the possibility of opening a forum. . . Never say never sir.

On another thread you insinuated Seun gets about £250 ad revenue a month,  please stop this bad belle cos you  bicker like a 10yr old. Admit it Seun has it all going for him, you're a loser. In fact in vulgar Nairaland terms you're  mugu.
Its patent nonsense for you to opine you went to www.thestar.com (totally factious argument) to correct some misinformation>"bad belle"
Yes all the ad and plugins are revenue driven, surely it aint for free? Please check the amount of traffic that come around here and other bits, it aint rocket science to arrive at such figure. For the record, I stated that to make a point as to why Seun may not be keen on ditching Quantity over Quality. You see, given the amount of mindset like you around here, there will be a drop in traffic I suspect IF Quality is enforced.

Again refer back to one of my reply "Nothing BAD [or in your terms BAD BELLE] about my actions. . . " However, since you have an axe to grind you will claim other wise.  smiley

The semi-mythical hokum that any one can set up a website and make money is diddlysquat. My friend look for an honourable way to earn your crust.
I suggest you read up on forums. Forums is used to generate money via adverts. I am not keen on setting up one for the sole purpose of making money, if and when I do it would be a place where intellectual debate can be exchanged and not of the non-sense plaguing here. Dude I earn my money in my line of work. Not relying on the web for some ad click. smiley

I have this quaint idea you have a brain so please severe the umbilical cord tying you to jealousy.

Whilst you're mired in jealousy and bemoaning everything on Nairaland, Seun is probably cracking and opening a bottle of Puligny-Montrachet.
You can trust on thing though, with the amount of brain you claim I have, what ever it is, it is probably more than yours given your mentality. smiley

There is nothing to be jealous of. I think you are confusing jealousy with wanting quality driven forum et al. But never mind, carry on.

PS
Now you know Seun fan club members can as well be determined in our resolve to "big-up" Nairaland, f* ck you.
There's a prima facie case for banning your monkey azz on Nairaland forever.
Happy New Year.
And this is me thinking you have a bit of brain. Jeez. I guess using your many logics, you just ban who ever disagree with you? How nice. Here is one little bit you are forgetting. Banning here is a joke, people come back the minute that are ban - the registration and regulation is THAT lax. Oh before you even mention anything about IP blacklisting. . . I have been using internet since the time of its invention and hence know a thing or two about by passing all of those if needed.

RomanceRe: Why Do Women Love Sweet Words? by ElRazur: 11:51am On Jan 01, 2010
Women like sweet words because it is part of their make up, and what society have some how imprinted on them. As science will tell us, women use different side of their brain to think and make judgement, I believe this is the part that controls emotions and thought [Slightly different from how a male brain works].

The you have environmental and physiological influences. For example, women are seen as "needing protection" by the society and when it comes to courtship, Males have been observed to do things to please [or cater to the need of] women.

All these things have been transferred down the line and hence expressive in our current world.

As some who have said "Not all women though". . . . Unless your brain is wired in a different way and you have managed to alter some of the environmental influences . . . .I would probably disagree.

What a joke. Anyway, here is a quote of an email I sent from their site.

Nairaland.com as stated in your report is not a news website. It is more or less a forum that is populated by bickering, insult trading and little intellectual debate.

To quote from a forum as your source does nothing but degrades the quality of your news report and raises serious question on the type of research your Journalist carries out prior to the report.

I hope this error is corrected swiftly and amends are made so it do not happen again in the future.
