I promise myself to refrain from posting in this thread, but I have to break this promise to say a few things. Homosexuals are humans and they deserve every protection under the law and society values and law like any other human. Period. For those of you that berate western cultures, and try to associate homosexuality with them are just ignorant on many levels. Even animals shows homosexual tendencies, just ask any zoologist. So how much more humans? As for blaming it on western values and ways, I think it is ironic that these same people are using the internet, while dressed in clothing attires all made using western ideas and values if I may point that out. Like I have said before in another thread, Homosexuals are here to stay, the earlier we accept them, the better it will be for us. Some of you may "make noise" as you want but they will eventually win this "war". After all, as of 100years ago, witches were still being burnt at the stakes in England. Who would have thought that will ever change? You average Nigerian man says he hates gay people, yet when asked why, he only says it is wrong. Oh please, who are you to determine what is wrong when two consenting adult feel the same towards each other? It is even more sad, that a few people who are abroad have these ignorant mentality as well. All these ignorant people go on like homosexual is a choice or a behaviour that is learned, Jesus flippin Christ, Please save my people, especially the ones with tiny minds. Finally, seeing that there is a lot of ignorance around here, so pardon me if I do not reply. Or pick whom I reply to. |
If we put less focus on oil and invest in other areas, then we may have some sort of leg to fall on. Our GDP is based mainly on the income from oil sales and with the way things are going, it is not the best option. What are we going to do once we run out? |
Dis Guy:It is a good thing I do not eat cornflakes as am lactose [milk] intolerant. ![]() The problem really do not lie with people like me [and you] who are not in the country, the problem lies with the way the country have been runned ever since we discovered oil. I am merely reacting to what any human will. On the flip side, I remember watching on the news in Nigeria, when it was proposed about last year or so that the naira will be 1-to-1 with the pound. The first public joe [or should I say Mumuni] that was interviewed said "oh that it is good news, it will at least show those proud people abroad that their money is nothing" or something along those lines. I couldn't stop laughing when I heard those comments. Little did he realise that Nigeria stand a lot to lose if it happens in the short and long run. |
ode remo:I am not in anyway selfish. If anything, it may be a good move as it will attract foreign investors. Besides, look on the bright side, what ever money I work hard to get over here, it will provide jobs and employment for a few back home that I will need their services when am there for holiday. |
Good news for people who are abroad. With a few dollars in my pocket we can live like kings for a few months, before heading back to work hard again. This can only be good news. |
Why buy a 19milla car when you can buy a suit that offers similar level of protection? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7942906.stm Or maybe, just buy both! lol |
Internet is unafrican, yet you are on it right now. Kissing is unafrican yet I will think you have engaged in such act before. In fact, the clothes you are wearing now was made using unafrican methods, I can go on and on. Oh the irony! |
jamace:I wonder if slavery of your ancestors by white men is acceptable. Maybe the crisis in dafur - a form of ethnic cleansing- may be something you advocate. Or perhaps you support the experiment Hitler did on the jews and those who are unfortunate enough to cross his path. ![]() You are very intelligent to say the least. |
I really cannot be bothered to get into a lengthy debate. I already have at least three of four hot debated thread that have always turned out this way. A few things I will say on this as my final post. If two grown men or women want to make love to each other in the private of their own home. Please explain to me as to how this affects your life? A few of you here detest homosexuality, I wonder how many of you will frown with sleeping with two women at the same time, assuming those who object to homosexuality are all men in this thread? After all, party is "immoral and wrong". How many of you guys here will object to your dick getting sucked by a woman? Again this is unnatural and not what the "mouth was designed for"? The point is, when it comes to homosexuality, my people display the classical symptoms of homophobia. A classic case of "Man hating, fearing and hence wanting to persecute" what he do not understand. Homosexuality is inborn period. It is not a learn behaviour like some are pointing out. Ask yourself, did anyone taught you how to like a girl or sleep with one in Nigeria? No in most cases. It just comes as natural instinct to you because it is an inborn mechanism. Why do some or most in here find women attractive? Simply because the inborn mechanism from conception have us "programmed" that way. If you can accept all these facts, why should it be any different for homosexuals? It should be expected that the Homosexuals in Nigeria will come against heavy opposition and violent discrimination, after all it is true that my people cant even get along on a religion and tribal level. I need most of you to understand that as of about 100years ago or so, people who are perceived as witches was burn at the stake in England. How time changes things. Before someone come asking, I am heterosexual and love women, how ever who are you, me or society to dictate to people what they find sexually attractive provided it is consensual and by maturely minded people. Mark my words, homosexuals are here to stay. It may not be in my generation - Im 20something by the way - but in the generation of our children's children. |
oreshade:Where do I start? Okay, allow me to deal with it as it comes. So, here goes: You cannot post such a post on a public forum and not expect a challenge. You do not make a post that ends with Praise be to Allah and still expect the likes of me and others to take you serious. If anything it shows how one sided and biased your so called "truth" is. There is nothing tedious about what you have written, it ain't even a 2k words essay. It is nothing more than faction [Faction = a drop of fact mixed with 10 tankers of lies]. It is like reading Chinua Achebe's Things fall apart and taking it as the ultimate truth. To even compare you mention Achebe and you in the same sentence is an insult to the man and I apologise to him for that. Your work is more or less a mixed of misconceived fact and biased approach on the real matter at hand. You do not need to my speciality as it is irrelevant to the matter at hand. A weak Nigerian mentality you see. Must I be an historian before I realise your pamphlet article is inaccurate and biased? From what I see, I do not see an offer of battle like you put it, but I see people genuinely advising you not to be biased in your approach. After all, the average lunatic Muslim brother reads this and think it is the ultimate truth! I do not need to "google" the truth you see. If I am to google, your so called "truth" will be among the stuff that the search engine will throw up. A very bad flaw you see. I have however, been engaged in middle east matters/debate for a long time and am not the type to take sides but instead want progress for humanity. The only worrying thing for me in your article is the fact that is is one sided, biased and packed with in accuracies which a few people have pointed out already. You speak of massacre, but I noticed that your article didn't say much on the atrocities committed by the very people you appear to be defending. And you really do not want "battle". To put things into perspective to you. Imagine you live in the middle of Nigeria [abuja or something] and all the surrounding states do not want to recognise your existence. Oh and from the surrounding states come people who will willing blow themselves up just to kill a few in the name of God, I can go on, but the point is your article is far from the truth and very biased. |
afam4eva:Please tell me you are joking. You advocate the raping of innocent people just because of their sexuality? I wonder if you realise being homosexual is not a choice they made. It is an inborn orientation you are born with. For example, some Nigerian men finds large women sexy, in fact the bigger the better. While on the other hand you have Men who like their women slim. Nothing can be done to change the perception of these men as to what they like in these women. Well, it is the same way sexual orientation is. |
SeanT21:For the record, Christians can actually leave with Muslims. It is part of the Christianity teachings to be tolerance towards others. Jesus showed this by dealing with the unbelievers in a civil way. On the other hand, teaching of Islam do not advocate tolerance, it instead preaches the death of Jews, homosexuals and non-believers. It recommends they should be killed and their land, women and money taken period. And before anybody come running at me, I am an atheist. I also happened to live in Kano for at least good three years or so. During which I witnessed religion violence, killings and what not, so I know what am talking about. |
The patrol boat is not that powerful to be honest when compared to other Naval ship in the world. In a way, it shows the criminal gangs Nigerian government means business. |
Haaa Haaa. I don find am. I love the way the article started. It is the fact and it hits the nail on the head! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6924870.stm To be addressed as a Mr, Mrs or Ms in Nigerian social circles means you are a nobody. To be a mover or shaker you need to be a chief - or to at least hold a doctorate. |
It is now possible to buy Chieftaincy title from as little 15000 naira [or pounds] I read the article on the BBC Africa website. I may post the link if I can find it. It is really a stinking mentality and I really do not see how we can move on from here. As far as am concerned, anyone who needs to write such appellations and titles after their name is more or less an empty barrel. |
My point is pretty much straight forward. Why the Obsession? Every privates and harry in Nigeria wants to be known and be somebody, even though they really have nothing to show for it. Every or should I say most State Governors are addressed as "His/Her excellency". Jeez! Let us break it down for a minute. What is excellent about them? The mere fact that the electorates voted in him/her as a political appointee? Or the fact that they bribe every constituency so as to win more votes? Some please tell me what is wrong with calling our Governor, commissioner et al Mr this or Ms that? Here is another example. How come most musician must have one title or the other? Anyone notice how every Fuji musician seem to carry an awful lot of title - Chief, Dr, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister! Then at the end of their name there is some small lettered abbreviations of more Honours and appellations they have "bagged" so far? So it normally appears something like this "Prof. Dr. Eng. Cheif Madu Emeka Okoronko. Ace.Msc.Bsc.Ait.Nta.Bbc" Come on give me a break! The list is endless: Wasiu ayinde calls himself KWAM 1. Please, King of who and where? Sunny Ade is another King too. God help us. D'banj - An entertainer. Oh really? I would have thought you are more of a CD artist that mime it out to an audience. Seriously, if he calls himself an entertainer, what do we call Michael Jackson or people who can actually dance and sing like Usher, Justin timberlake, Chris Brown, ? Even the so called Men of God have their own fair share "Primate Olobayo" "Pastor Dr INSERT name here" If I remember correctly, Jesus and Mohammed never specifically call themselves and fancy titles. I'm sure you guys get the picture. I am yet to understand this crazy obsession with "making people think you are actually bigger than you are mentality" If we are to[i] rebrand[/i] nigeria like some have been saying, this are some of the things we need to do away in my opinion. |
^^^ What is "great" about the article? Jeez people, let us call a spade, a spade. It is mediocre at best. And when criticised constructively, he refused to take it on board. What a tiny mind! |
Please stop posting bullshits. You make a post without telling us where your sources are from. In the absence of that, I will have to assume it is your story. It is bullshit, wrong and far from the truth. It makes no flipping sense. Thank you. |
I refuse to take serious an article that is biased, misinformed and ends with "praise be to allah". Once the OP knows how to do a bit of research and write article that are non-emotive, I will post an appropriate reply. In the mean time, I will urge him to go and learn the few things I raised already. |
The second image is not photoshopped. It appears to have been released as part of an exhibition on him in the state. |
This is a non issue as afar as am concerned. The killings, coups and bloodshed carries the hallmark of backward African nation which is in turn run by people with low intelligence. Since they cannot have their house in order, I trust the international community to do something, given the fact that their borders are porous to drug traffickers. It is only a matter of time. Once concaine reaches epidemic levels in the European countries, they will be forced to act one way or the other. |
Rebranding Nigeria at what level? If just rebranding the image then, that is no good. We need to change the level of thinking of the common man. Once we do that this "rebranding" thing may work. Hold on a minute, Nigeria is not even a brand, It just needs to change her fundamental flaws and all else will fall in place. It is like washing the outside of a pot, while the inside remains dirty and swarming with maggots. |
If all the due process have been followed, then I see no reason why. Having that, this is Africa, Chances of following proper procedure are pretty much slim. Also their may be conflict of political interest. In the UK, during Tony Blair's tenure, his wife was a human rights lawyer if I remember correctly. And she managed to take the government to court on several occasion. |
While I try to refrain from speculation, it is well known that opponnents of Mugabe - at least about three or four of them - have died in road accidents that are suspicious. One was before the independence, one was with his army General and others, I cant recall from my head. To balance things, out it was reported that the roads are pretty much in a dire condition over there. The driver alleged to have fallen asleep and then veer off the opposite lane to hit ONLY Tsvangirai's car in the convoy. Yeah, it is an accident all right, but looks like it was made to look like one. |
We are too big, too diverse and too backward in our thinking to have it work. Every individual from a so called minority wants a state in Nigeria. Most Africans from the North see themselves as Arabs and not Africans. We have differences in culture and differences in ideas, I some how do not see this working. |
Just reading the news quote from CNN. Please someone explain to me what Israel got to do with this? I am guessing this is just a move to drum support from "Muslims brothers" who clearly cannot think for themselves once Israel is mentioned in any international crisis. God save us from men with tiny minds. |
IFELEKE:It may not be the best way, but it is the logical thing to do. Sending in troops by any nation or body will be seen as meddling in the affairs of a sovereign state. The ICC tentacles reach far and wide, just remember this. Yes people will continue to die and at the same time you need to bear in mind that Bashir will have to rethink his tactics - which is what the ICC also aims for. Whether he leaves his country or not remains to be seen. But as with all "colourful leaders" like him, they love to show defiance in the very face of it all. Hopefully this will work well to the advantage of the ICC. PS Please stop shouting - Typing in Capital letters equates to shouting on a forum. ![]() |
@LagosBoy I dont have problem with the ICC iussuing arrest warrant for Bashir but if it can do that for Bashir what is stopping them from doing that to Bush and Blair for the thousands murdered in Iraq, Afghanistan. You speak from what I see as a clouded vision am afraid. Please tell me what war crimes George Bush and Blair committed? I will want a convincing answer from you if you can please. And for the record, I am not a Blair or Bush supporter. Now you want Olmert and co tried as well for the problem in Palestine? Dude you are really not fair are you. What about the Israeli who have died as a result of rocket attacks by the enemy [not wanting to call them terrorist or militants you see] who fails to recognise their very existence? Or failing to recognise the Israeli aint one of the mandate of the enemy? Should the ICC issue a warrant for the enemy as well? Look the point is, in a war zone Kids, children, women, the defenceless and innocent will die. Fact. That is why it is called a war and seen as a last resort. As for the issue in Chechen I suggest you pick up a few non-biased book and read. Both sides are as guilty as each other. There is nothing selective about the construct and approach of the ICC, it is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. You see bringing a charge of Genocide, Mass Murder or crimes against humanity requires proper poof - remember this is a court. Just because you think this people should be arrested do not mean it will be so. It took the ICC over 6month plus to go through the evidence before them an as this is a law court, things do take time. In the end, they judges felt the charges of Genocide will not stick and instead went for Crimes against humanity et al as there is over-whelming evidence. All in all, I believe your views are biased and emotive. |
Below are a quote of my reply from another thread. I am posting them as I felt they are relevant to the on-going discussion. He is indicted already.I find it hard to understand how some one [lagos boy??] can try to compare this scenario to the issue going on in the middle east. That is like comparing apples and oranges - two totally different things in my opinion. |
Charles Taylor thought he was untouchable. So was the former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, he had the feeling he was invincible too. Like I said before, it is only a matter of time. China are only in it for the oil, they can be easily swayed if push comes to shove. This is international politics we are talking about. |
He is indicted already. He can dance and play it down all it want. The point remains, there is a warrant out for him and it is only a matter of time before he is arrested. I dare him to come out of his country and see what happens. Former president who are more notorious than him all ended up in the Hague eventually. It is a bold move by the ICC and I fully support it. This should be a warning to all current and potential head of states/president in the world: You can be arrested and you are not untouchable. |
Nigersitzn:You really are have no idea of history do you? You views are again one sided without taking into account other views. The leader wasn't a Western ally like you are suggesting. The nut head islamaniac or islamic mad men made sure his end happened. As for the alleged advancement in Iran's technology, please do not make me laugh. Their so called satellite launch was nothing more than a front and to make it worse, the picture released to the press was photoshopped [Meaning it was a fake photo] as the launch failed. The photo had to be rejected by the world press. Iran is nothing like you muslims will like to think. The current president is a Puppet and the real puppet are the Ayatollahs and Grand leaders behind the screen. When it comes to Technology in warfare and what not, I will have to say Israel will demolish iran - Just go look up the 7days war and learn how deadly the Israelis are. The point is, they have their eyes watching Iran and with that I can sleep with my eyes closed at night. The current iran regime is made up of a Mad president and Lunatic spiritual leaders who are not tolerant and am afraid the world have nothing to learn from them. Iran is not a giant in anyway, if you call them a giant, what do you call America, Germany, France, UK and co? A flipping God? I see you are a Muslim, please explain to me as to why you guys love violence so much? I am an atheist by the way so I very much "neutral"Anyway, Nigeria have nothing to learn from them. We cant even supply proper 24/7 electric power supply to our citizen, let alone branching into nuclear weapons. |
