I saw the original show live here. It goes to prove that you do not need to be good looking to make it. Talents and ability are just more important that looking good. Her achievements is turning the very foundation of the showbiz/entertainment world here. Artist here are constantly trying to stay young, injecting botox and forever doing facials, Just ask Madonna and Kyle Minogue. Susan Boyle is an exception and while she is not what you will call a fine lady - she got a double chin - She definitely have the Talents. Even the judges admitted that they was cynical about her from the beginning. How wrong she proved them! |
I wonder how many millionaires will be made from these investments? While it is a step in the right direction, I really do not see how this will be achieved. Besides, there have been various world bank investments that never took off if I remember correctly, or at least we have nothing to show for it. It would be potentially helpful if these plans are implemented and the project well executed, but as with most things with and in Nigeria, it works upside down. Come to think of it, how many Million, if not billions of monies have been invested in the power sector to date? What do we have to show for it? |
baslone:Oga no vex jare. Sorry, I meant Yahoozee oooo Yahoozee ooo **throws hand in the air, leans one side and mimics the dance move from the video** ![]() |
Jarus:Woah, division is really engrained in some people and it is scary. I mean, do I care what tribe I rent my house to as long as my rent is up to date and paid in cash? ![]() |
I don't understand Dr. ![]() |
Action speaks louder than words. It appears he's got a chance to prove that he is not Baba Go slow. I mean, how hard is it to turn over these guys that are involved in all of these? |
Dr Malgwi:According to "Transparency international" we aint the most corrupt in the world. I guess that is a relief, but we are among the top 10. ![]() |
i_laugh:I think as human nature, you will find it is easier to criticise and find faults, than to praise. Requiring a proof will be very hard, however it is generally accepted that Nigeria is more corrupt. A good example is the follow and application of rule of law. At least people/government in America do things according to their constitutions and have respect for the rule of law than in Nigeria. A good example, will be the state governor that wanted to sell Obama's seat to the highest bidder! Remember that case? [Very recent]. He is in jail now and he was removed as a state governor very swiftly. Things like that will probably not happen in Nigeria in a pretty much straightforward manner like that etc. You see, it is a fair point to say Nigeria is more corrupt in my opinion. |
How did he manage to flip a hummer? His driving skills must be rubbish [ Just like his embezzling skills] ![]() |
Since this matter won't go away. Let the books be thrown at the law breaker for once and an example be set. Things like these gives hard and honest working people like me and others a bad name around here. |
Who is more corrupt? There isn't a doubt that Nigeria will predictably win the Gold medal here. ![]() At least in China, people actually go to jail and die via the law when caught. In Nigeria IBB et al all walk free till today. |
I will just like to add that, inability to speak english do not mean one is an illiterate ![]() There are genius who speaks Russians only and Well educated people who only speak Chinese. That do not make them an illiterate. |
lady kool:I mentioned that before. What makes it even more annoying is that Olu's attempt is pretty mediocre. Kinda like a Chinese copy of German engineering. It just wont have what it takes period. I am glad more and more people are realising the song is entire garbage. rapjunkie:If you honestly think the song is not bad, then I will never take your opinion on music serious, EVER! If you see why people on here are criticising this track, then perhaps it is a reflection of how BAD the song really is? You agreed the song is lyrically not existent, yet you think it is still a good track because the beats are good? I suppose you are those people who listen to "beats" even if the artist is speaking in tongues like the old days of the Remedies? I mean that is like saying, Oh your car looks good but it's got no engine. See, you seem to think because it is "Olu" we should not expect much from him. I disagree, every artist should deliver or make attempts to make serious delivery on contents and concepts. Olu failed and people have the right to say what they think. And far as this thread goes, most think it is a crap song. Period. Perhaps he should take it easy and stop releasing crap, meaningless, idiotic, non-sense, mediocre and below-standards songs? Just a thought. ![]() |
ikeyman00:I was trying to say that in my post. But you know, erm this is nairaland. ![]() |
I think a few people seem to be missing the point. He is trying to highlight what he perceives as blatant injustice and corruption. He is not exactly saying he is "not happy". |
blacksta:He plans on fighting the pirates, not the Somalis. Those guys have no reason to keep hijacking ships and demanding ransoms in my opinion, even if there state is more or less a failed state. |
OneNaija:Your post is at best a generalisation and very ignorant. I have a feeling there will be massive opposition to your post. Even if you have a problem with how Nigeria is, you will find that you have presented your case in a very poor manner. Also one man's civilisation is another man's backwardness. I live in the UK and most of the population here will think we are backward with our ways your see. The point is, these "backward civilisations" that you highlighted, you are yet to explain how it affects you. OneNaija:Here you had another chance to redeem what most people perceive as generalisation, yet you appear to carry on doing exactly that. The Northern part of nigeria, carries roughly about half the population of Nigeria, and are you saying you have meet everyone of them to come to such conclusion? We have a problem of division and separation ingrained in us all - a very bad human trait at times - and my friend, you are showing that. ![]() |
Funny thread. with loads of ignorant view.As already mentioned, GPS will work in most place on earth. It was created for the exact purpose. However, it requires local mapping which from what I can tell it is not readily available in Naija. This is down to poor town planning and unregulated social development. The claim been made by the original poster is interesting, however I will ask him to please explain a few things. Judging by what you posted there appear to have been a few discrepancies in my opinion. Your post will suggest that it can do a door to door navigation given the current state of town planning in Nigeria, I will please ask you to explain how this is possible. From what I can tell, you are using an overhead map imagery that is more or less similar to what is available from several ordinance-like sites that provide such services. With such map, I am certain that only a 2d rendering will be available and this do not appear to come with "door-to-door". Also, the map will not be very much detailed on the local road as most will give image that are a bit old. For example, Google earth view maps are a few years dated due to security reasons. Your ideas are good and I know a few people who have done similar things - I am an amateur hiker and have used several GPS stuff. . I think you need to remain calm and just answer as many questions as possible if you can. No need getting mad when people question your motives. |
Ikomi:You wait till you hear it goes platinum. ![]() Speaking of platinum sales, I wonder how the figures are collected in Nigeria. A country, where record keeping is not exactly our strong point. I find it hard to believe some artist in Naija lay claim to selling millions of album. |
A critical review. The song starts with typical "look at my ego" skit/intro. I thought it would get better, but sadly it didn't. He seem to have used the same "T-pain effect" [Auto tune] that have ruined Nigeria's music and make everyone sound the same. It is a very bad move as it just makes the track particularly generic. He used this effect in his previous hit track and using it again now, smacks of desperation in my opinion. The lyrics to the actual song [if it can be called a song ] is more or less non-existent! It is fair to say, he needs some sort of writer or a ghost writer who can do the job in my opinion. On the bright side, your typical "I-don't-care-what-the-music-is-as-long-as-it-is-danceable-Fan" will find this as a must have, while I respect their choice, it is something I will most definitely not recommend for those who know what music is about. If he needed inspiration, perhaps he can listen to the "Original track" by Busta Rhymes and take a few hints from there. Arrgggh I can't pretend any more. The song is absolute garbage. There really isnt nothing to review about a rubbish song. Call a spade, a spade, it is utter drivel. ![]() |
A take on Busta Rhymes track of same title I think. Or an influence from it? |
I will give the Moderators £300.00 if this thread is locked immediately. ![]() |
nuffsaid:Who see them as such? I am African and Nigerian all wrapped up in the body of one man, and I hardly see any of these people as celebrity, there isn't anything to celebrate about them in the first place. ![]() It appears to me you are some what obsessed with fame. A very unhealthy state of mind to be honest. |
javalove:That is precisely what I am trying to explain. ![]() |
It is only a name. People need to get a grip in my opinion. |
Am I the only who noticed this then? |
He influenced and help shaped hiphop no doubt. He is considered one of the greatest, no honour is bigger than that in my opinion. |
Hello there guys. I am contemplating taking a car home from here. However, I have heard how cars can be heard for cheap money in Cotounou. Anyone here with experience of buying across the border from us? I am after a best all rounder 4x4 and all along, my focus have been on a Mitsubishi Montero - 99 onwards shape. Is there something else I should be considering? My criteria is something easy to run and probably low maintenance, preferably a car of Japanese origin and a lightweight 4wheel drive/all wheel drive/all terrain drive etc. With buying a car here from either UK or Germany, I get to know the actual state of the car and can do a few stuff to it before it is shipped. However, with cotounou, I may have to buy with fingers crossed and hope it wont be a dud etc. Thanks. |
I think that was what the poem was about. "Making it against all odds" |
Hey dude. Hi, this is El! You may try your local church and choir, there are loads of ladies willing to work for free etc. Look, we need to meet up and see what we can do man. Catch you on yahoo chat again. ![]() |
I dunno if it is worth replying, but I will. Mentality like this is why more than 95% of our Artist are rubbish. Mentality like this is why people never last in their chosen music careers, because they come in to the game for the fame, money and women without having the basic knowledge. In naija, I will rather be successful in my music, than focus on being a celeb. I really do not know what your thread is about to be honest, but hey there you go. ![]() |
Bamsyle:I have noticed that a lot around here. It is a stupid mentality am afraid. People have no desire what so ever to make change. I said it before and I am saying it again. If America is like Nigeria, Obama will never become president. Period. I really do not see how justification can be given to something totally wrong and illegal. But like I said in my post, "as with everything in Nigeria, things work upside down and there isn't a respect for rule of law" One sliver lining in all of this is that, most of us are getting fed up and I believe we wont carry on "sitting down and adapting" to all these morally wrong and illegal ways any more. I suppose a way one can make change is to get a licence for a radio/tv station and just lead by example and play what people really want. Ask people to bring in their tracks and it would be screened to see if it is worth playing on the air. A station in the UK - Channel U - does this and it's been a major success. It had more views between the age of 13-22 than MTV. I have a feeling a similar channel U concept will work in naija. ![]() |
