The bold part is exactly why the Super South wanted GEJ to continue. If for nothing, to prove to the hausa/fulani that they don't own this country and cannot stampede us into handing over power to them.

They threatened us that if they didn't get power Nigeria would cease to exist and we should have looked them in the eyeball and call their bluff but we received their javelling from the yoruba flank.

What a pity. embarassed embarassed
If we intend to have a prosperous country then base instincts like that don't deserve a place in Nigeria.

We made that mistake when we voted Jonathan in the first time in 2011, because we wanted to show the Hausa/Fulanis that they didn't own Nigeria. Well, we only succeeded in dragging our beloved country back.

One thing you can be assured of is that the Yoruba people will always vote for progress whoever embodies that.

The rest of you in the south can vote for corruption all in the name of showing Hausa/Fulani their place.

I'm sorry OP nothing like a united South. Rather a united Nigeria.

The South can never be united if Nigeria is not united. Simple.

Yeah I agree with the chap.

The country is in a recession now and people aren't exactly lining up to purchase hair extensions.

(I may be wrong though).

Unless you have a ready market whereby people have assured you they need it, then you may end with products that keep smiling at you in your shop while you're waiting for them to be sold.

Don't be in a hurry to invest your capital.

Do your homework well otherwise you'll be throwing away your money.

All the best.

unfortunately, I'm just seeing your response. I shouldn't have dignified it with a response but am compel not to allow misrepresentation to continue to spread.

I would never seek to protect or shield a corrupt judge or person but what sane people like us are saying is simple: The laws of the land must be respected and followed in the fight against corruption. It's highly unnecessary to go and arrest the judges at such odd hours of the day based on allegations that are yet to be proven in a court of law or are they fugitives? Have they been invited and they refused to show up? Have they been declared wanted? I don't think so; thus, why the gestapo arrest for? The law presumes innocent until proven otherwise.

The manner in which the arrest was carried out is what people are condemning and that in anyway doesn't mean supporting corruption. It's a barbaric act that should be condemn in any decent society. You can't fight corruption with illegality; corruption can only be fought through the instrumentality of the law. We must learn to build strong institution than strong leaders because the former will outlive the latter.
Really? "At such odd hour".

What time frame is stipulated in the constitution for arrests? Just point out where it says no arrests can and must be made after 7pm. I'm waiting....

There will always be people like this op in every society. But when we have them as a majority then that society become Nigeria.

Some think this is a Nairaland game where you keep arguing no matter how foolish you sound until you wear down your opponent.

I can only hope Buhari will continue on this path and make sure that the Augean stable is totally clean by 2019.

And for u to say u r ok with what he is doing, speaks volume. I rest my case.
Well I guess history will decide who is right and who is wrong between the two of us.

When corruption fights back we all fold our arms. Now the FG is trying to attack corruption at it's roots we are up in arms.

Critical situations require desperate measures.

For Nigeria's democracy to work we need someone with iron fists.

These same judges have been selling justice to the rich class to the detriment of the masses for a long time. The NJC turned a blind eye and pretended tobe blind .

We are now saying we should let NJC do it's job? The same job it has refused to do for the past 16years?

Sorry. I go with President Buhari. If I was in his shoes that'd have been the first step I would take.

Like I said we'll both look back at this moment in future and realise who was right and who was wrong.

I think it is safe to say that Nigerians love muck and filth, going by the response of the majotiy on here.

We are like pigs. And the muck is our home where we are comfortable.

At the end of Buhari's tenure we will begin to shout up and down like a castrated goat "he said he will end corruption, but nobody has been jailed since he resumed office".

Do you ever wonder how a judge can hand a death sentence or life imprisonment to someone who stole a loaf of bread and also give a fine of some thousands of naira to someone who stole from the state treasury to the tune of billions of dollars?"

I guess we love that kind of perverted justice right?

SMH really seriously.

And what have you as a person done to put all the talks into action?

People of your age and my age are leading revolutions the world over. We sit here and point fingers at one another.

Critical situations require desperate measures. The FG should do all in it's power to stamp out corruption and the corrupt from this country even if it means becoming a dictator once again.

We aren't going to wait until we all start eating from the dustbin of the rich.

The revolution closest to us is the scrapping of the Senate. It is building momentum. We all should join hands and support this.

I'll attempt to respond to your pathetic and disjointed response.

There is total famine in our land? Really? Do you know what famine is?

"Buhari's government is found wanting in corruption". I think what you meant to say is Buhari's government is corrupt. And I'll have to reply bullshit. Mention one case against the FG on corruption that you know of. Maybe you can also provide a link so I can educate myself.

The rest of your post is unintelligible.

Here's what I'm going to tell you dear:

1. Are the judges above the laws of the land? No.

2. Do judges have immunity against arrests and prosecution? No.

3. Is there a difference between personal misconduct and criminal misconduct? Yes. They are probably intertwined and one obviously takes precedence over the other.

Please try and understand what I have written before you come back with a rejoinder OK?

And no? I haven't sold my soul to the devil. Even if I offered it to him, the bastard will be scared to take it cost he knows we are on opposing sides.

It's you who should remove religious and ethnic bias from your eyes and stop hating on the person of the president. OK?

How will this make Nigeria great? In a democracy, there are sacred ingredients called separation of powers and the rule of law. These are the corner stone pillars that democracy is built on; what will see today is fragrant abuse of power and tyranny which eventually destroyed our nation/democracy. All men of good faith must not sit by and watch this barbaric act and not say something and do something about this recklessness.

We must commend those with the courage to speak out and the NBA for standing up to challenge this aberration and abuse of our judiciary system. you can't be the accuser and judge at the same time. The youth needs to liberate themselves through education, the ignorant level is intolerable and this is the major reason why they are willing tools in the hands of greedy and manipulative politicians.

This i say shall surely pass and Nigeria shall rise again.
I understand that the arrest of the judges gives some people the opportunity for moral posturing.

Some judges were arrested because they were suspected to have sold justice to the highest bidders thereby jeopardizing our democracy.

It seems some of you don't know the implication of the actions of these judges.

Question: are the judges above the law? Can they be arrested?

There is separation of power among the three arms of government. True. But each arm is supposed to be a check on the power of the other two.

When the Legislative impeaches a governor or the president are you going to come here and start crying foul?

Or when the court issues a bench arrest warrant for a member of the legislation would you call that illegality?

Until someone can show me where it says in the constitution that judges have immunity against arrest and prosecution, then I'll have to conclude that y'all don't even know what you're saying.

The Judiciary is last hope of the common man. In a nation where the rich and the poor are the same in the eyes of the law, then there is hope for such country. That, in case you don't know is why Lady Justice wears a blindfold.

Your judges have been selling justice for a long time yet you kept mute. Now we have somebody who had the balls to do what needs to be done people like you who don't know their @ss from a hole in he ground go about mouthing off words you just picked up on Nairaland.

Y'all deserve the pain and austerity you are going through indeed. As jobless as most of you are you can't see that these set of people have held your destinies in their fists with a vice-like grip.

They we're arrested. A signal that nobody is above the law. Not even judges. I don't give a sh*t if they were all whisked away in the dead of the night to defend the allegations against them.

They need not worry. Their victims, people like you, are always present on Nairaland and offline to defend them. Carry on.

I am not supporting the corruption in government, hell, let them arrest and prosecute them. But what am against is the manner in which this arrest or should i say hunt is been carried out.

For God sake, these are respected people that r not running from the government. They are the government. Why breaking walls and breaking into their house by 1am? Cant u smell somethinghuh

It is a total disgrace to this nation and to the democracy we claim we have. This tyranny. When did it even become thw job of the dss to arrest people for financial crimes?? ?

I dont care what anybody have commited in this country but the law should take effect. You cant treat people like animal because they are being accused of a financial crime. This is intimidation. And ones they can do it to our judiciary, watchout what will happen next.
I get what you're saying quite alright.

But I'd rather we give this government the benefit of the doubt that they see what we can't see.

You say these are respectable people? Well they used to be until they sold that respect on the altar of greed by selling justice to criminals so they can walk free.

If you know how powerful these judges are and the extent to which corruption can fight back you'll be patient and watch what the presidency is doing. Don't forget we have a highly qualified SAN as our VP and a staunch Christian too. I want to believe they know what they are doing.

Our support should be with the presidency in their bid to rid our nation of corruption and not with those who have mortgaged the future of Nigeria.

The tactics they have used so far is OK. There's the element of surprise and shock. This way they won't have time to bury evidences or something.

If you read the details of the emergency declared by NBA today, you will notice that the DSS has no business on the subject matter. NJC has punished many judges and it is constitutionally empowered to discipline erring judges. Have you ever heard about court martial? Why do the military investigate and disciplines their members when we have police and DSS? Rule of law must be followed. No matter how good intention PMB may have, we must do things right.

On VP, I do not envy him, his case is like when a doctor is not allowed to treat himself or his immediate family because his judgement at that time can not be trusted.
Like I said during the election campaign, Osinbajo will not be around when serious decisions are taken, he will be sent on an errand to represent the President somewhere like he is being used now.
You do not know that about the VP unless you want to tell us you work close to the presidency and are privy to all the information you're not.

You may be surprised to know that PMB relies a lot on the opinion of his Vice than any other president has done in the history of this country.

That being said. Can you mention one judge you know that has been jailed for corruption or they are immune to jail because they are the ones sending people there?

What happens when the disciplinary arm of the judiciary is as corrupt as the judges they are meant to discipline?

If the three arms are meant to serve as checks and balances for the other two arms, pray tell us, how does the executive exercise it's power of check and balance over the judiciary?

Unless you're saying that the judiciary is an island on it's own.

Another question. Can a judge suspected of a criminal offence be arrested by the police or not?

If not why? and does theJudiciary have a special police force for that?
