PoliticsRe: Ghana Government Sends Delegates To Understudy The Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project by ElsonMorali: 8:40pm On Mar 30, 2019
The unfortunate part is that by the time Ghana implements its own, not only will it be better than Nigeria's, but will most likely last longer due to proper maintenance.

Which Asian country came to take a few seeds of our palm kernel to cultivate on their own land and today, they are the largest exporter. Indonesia or Malaysia? Can't remember now.
CelebritiesRe: Adetutu Alabi Blasts Simi For Degrading People With Tribal Marks by ElsonMorali: 8:37pm On Mar 30, 2019

[s]Hanty tribal mark wetin be ur problemhuh? My Simi didn't mention ur name o....and.... beside she is just singing her #fvckyouchallenge so shut ur mouth and keep believing that God will touch Rihanna heart. May she help ur career world wide[/s]
If you don't understand Yoruba you shouldn't display your ignorance here.

The phrase is demeaning to all tribal marked people. That much should be clear from her statement.

Many people have tribal marks.
That's right. I have even young peeps who have tribal marks. Pretty ladies and handsome dudes.

That phrase is really insensitive.

Simi can do better.
CelebritiesRe: Adetutu Alabi Blasts Simi For Degrading People With Tribal Marks by ElsonMorali: 8:24pm On Mar 30, 2019
She's right and Simi should apologize really.

It's total folly to keep using that derogatory line "Se mo ko'la ni?"

This is my first time hearing that phrase and it is cringe worthy. If anyone says that in my presence I'd wash their mouths out with detergent. They can fart bubbles all their lives for all I care. Iranu. I know lots of very intelligent tribal marked peeps.

And yes, the lady is pretty. She doesn't need jerk offs on Nairaland telling her otherwise.
CelebritiesRe: I Was Mocked, Bullied For My Dark Skin – Beverly Naya by ElsonMorali: 8:18pm On Mar 30, 2019
Hipsofagoddess:
God gave them a light complexion skin which the sun rays tan, and they maintain it by bleaching right? So, how is it low self esteem to preserve what God gave you?
You obviously don't know the effects of bleaching agents on the skin. You should read more about it.

And I'm sure you saw I put the word "maintain" in quotes. That should tell you something.
CelebritiesRe: I Was Mocked, Bullied For My Dark Skin – Beverly Naya by ElsonMorali: 6:53pm On Mar 30, 2019
Hipsofagoddess:
You feel dark skin girls bleach and become light skinned because of self esteem issues, so why do light skinned girls bleach?
I've said this before. Because of lack of self esteem. They feel they must bleach out their skin to either "maintain" the lightness and prevent the natural tanning effect of sun rays or to even lighten it further. Either way, they aren't comfortable in their God given skin, hence the need to want to "improve" on it.
FamilyRe: Is It Appropriate For 18+ Lady To Wash Her Father's Under wear? by ElsonMorali: 6:46pm On Mar 30, 2019
The boyfriend should volunteer to report at the girl's place 3 times a week to help the girlfriend's dad wash his underwear since he doesn't like her to wash them. Problem solved.

Lack of self-esteem isn't the reason people bleach. Hope you know naturally fair girls still bleach?
Are you saying that light complexioned ladies are immune to self doubt and lack of self esteem? I seriously disagree.

Hipsofagoddess:
It is not an excuse but you need to understand that everyone will not have a thick back, people are made up of different kinds of emotions.

If we were all the same, I bet their would be no fewer than 20 people in Nigeria because the rest would have committed suicide.

We need to tackle this issue from the grassroots which is the educating the perpetrators of colorism. There should be awareness of this problem growing.

The funny thing is when these men marry their preferred light skinned babes they still birth dark skinned girls who will suffer the problems they created.

So we need awareness which Beverly is trying to create and we should support her rather than talking about unnecessary things like being an excuse to bleach.
Lack of self esteem is the root cause of bleaching. People should feel comfortable in their own skin, dark or light.

It's not even an African thing.
It's global.
From Asia to the Americas, fair skin has and will always be associated with geninue beauty.
It is a learned attitude. It's not innate.

All in the works.

Accessing a website is one of the easiest things to do. If you can spell your name, you can access a website. Its that simple.

Giving them official email addresses subliminally creates an official mindset inside them and the rest will follow.

Regarding the updating part, why not wait till then before you speak
Because I know Nigeria very well and I can predict everything about Nigeria.

Maintenance culture? Zero. Maybe even tending towards negative.

In a way it does. These ministries are serious business and should be treated as such. Of course this move would ensure that each ministry creates a website for its public image from which their emails will be modeled after. Enough of the embarrasing situation of zero websites for ministries and the use of public email addresses for supposed serious ministries
Creating a website isn't the first step to the redemption of the civil service. What's the point of creating a website when more than 75% of the workers don't know how to access it?

The Nigerian civil service need a total overhaul and not just some random website creation that is soon forgotten and abandoned. After a year it won't be updated, that's for sure.

The government worker believes that whether he works hard or not, government business will continue and he'll get paid at the end of the month.

That mentality has to change first.

Civil service should be about service delivery first and foremost and not just a way of employing jobless people and paying them minimum wage.

The funny thing is that even black guys bully girls that are black. Sometimes you just caution yourself when you remember murder is a sin and crime.
True. But still not an excuse for girls to bleach their skin.

Sometimes when I see a fine girl transforming from beautiful ebony to an indeterminate colour or becoming "as bright as the sun", I feel like weeping.

True talk. Colorism remains rampant in Africa.
True that. Fair complexioned females are considered more beautiful in Africa. Just check out the army of "beauty queens" being churned out of Nigeria's pageant industry every nano-second and you'll understand.

Bleaching girls make my skin crawl, and for me all light-skinned girls are suspect.

They will be forced to learn. If they can operate a smart phone and use it for social media gossip they can show more seriousness by becoming computer literate when it comes to their official jobs
I amended my earlier comment. I guess the latter part addresses the "they can show more seriousness..." part of your quote.
PoliticsRe: FG Orders Civil Servants To Use .gov.ng Emails by ElsonMorali: 7:19am On Mar 30, 2019
Putting the cart before the horse. Nigeria's usual way of doing things.

How many civil servants know how to operate the computer?

Nigeria's public service is just like a huge engine that's supposed to generate electricity to power a home but gives just enough to power a Nokia 3310 yet keeps on gulping fuel and engine oil at an alarming rate.

That is Nigeria's civil service. Most are under qualified, the rest are corrupt.

That's why I don't have a single picture of myself on the internet ever. Even if you Google my full name, you'll come up with just one Masters degree term paper which my then lecturer uploaded on the net, otherwise, zilch.

I wonder how people feel comfortable with their pictures floating around the net.
