mu2sa2: Yes we deserve what we bargained for. Of the 3 leading presidential candidates in 2011 elections GEJ was the least likely to deliver but people voted out of sentiments - religion(he's a Christian), regional(he's south- south), myopic(he had no shoes when he was in primary school), ethnic (he's from my tribe). And the PDP completed the charade with massive rigging. So as u lay ur bed so u lie on it.
I hate to be insultive on nairaland but I will crave your indulgence pls be wise and stop misleading patriotic citizens... U re way far from realities

This is a pure fact but by the northern elites themselves.. This cabal of greedy corrupt and notorious northern elites have marginalized the whole country with the small fries in the northern region inclusive.. Y the almajiris and the BH foot soldiers... May Allah pay them in their own coin
PoliticsRe: Yar’adua More Reliable Than Jonathan – Ex-militants by Elueme: 2:29pm On Jul 07, 2012
The president of Nigeria is not the president of Ijaw tribe or south south regiion u little tribal bigot.. U can see his recent appointments, I would have been tempted to say he's serving the northern interest but it is not true.. Nigeria is one entity and must be viewed as such... These rascals had the opportunity to be included in the amnesty program 2 yrs ago but reneged cos they thought peace can never reign in the Niger delta but they were proved wrong, militancy is gone as long as GEJ is in power.. That rascal should plead not issue fake threats or else I will sort you out from the creeks myself
BusinessRe: PHCN Has A New Way Of Extorting Money From Prepaid Customers? by Elueme: 1:21pm On Jul 07, 2012
This would have been harmonished in the new tariff agreed cos it might be difficult to convince Nigerians on sectional payment... But what I must commend here is the reform process in its entirety, giving considerations to low income earners as its being done in the western nations is an initiative we must all support and endorse... I will enjoin the PHCN to review this new policy not because it is bad in its entirety but because Nigerians have still not come to term with trust and govt have a lot to do in convincing these investors... LET SUPPORT OUR GOVT, LET US REASON TOGETHER AND NIGERIA WILL BE GREAT SOON
PoliticsRe: MKO Abiola 14 Years After He Departed by Elueme: 10:17am On Jul 07, 2012
RIP, the great one... Recent events have taken me aback in thought who the real enemies of MKO were? Or we just in a world where psychophancy is the order? People have clamoured for your immortalisation and due recognition of your philosophy and ideals in a rather imperial state. They went ahead to declare a separate day for you as a democracy day against the dictate of a constitutional government.. Just when this govt at the centre now saw the need to truly immortalise you, these same set of people surreptitiously mobilized and are mobilsing against it.. Oh, the great Bashorun of Africa, these people have only used you to gain political weight and favor before millions who loved you but do they really love you as they claim? How are my sure that Cso from the northern pole was not right in his testament that your kinsmen betrayed you for self aggrandizement? How are my sure they are still not using you to cause sectional politics in a country where unity should be the paramount interest of all and sundry? I just want to say I love you the great Bashorun and may u find peace in eternity
PoliticsRe: Army Deploys 3,500 Soldiers To Edo by Elueme: 9:58am On Jul 07, 2012
I don't give a damn who wins the election... The president of Nigeria has once spoken to ensure safety of lives and property in Edo during and after the election. And twice will he fulfill it..I don't give a damn what you hobnobers think but what is most important is that the govt of Nigeria is ever more committed to the safety of lives and property in Nigeria and it would do anything to actualise this paramount necessity not minding whose horse is gorged.. PDP, ACN alikes are devising violence and the losing side ll be the first to cry fouls of assassination attempt, plans to rig and all bullshits but GEJ is demonstrating the patriotism but ensuring we don't degenerate to anarchy has being nurtured by these desperadoes.

I love your curiosity but it can be esp they said it was associated with fatigue.. The woman is old and maybe she had some underlying cardiac issues couple with the fact that she might not be too active so peripheral thrombosis could set in with resultant tingling sensation but however that doesn't explain it all . BusinessRe: Clarification: Ghana Is Not Closing Legal Nigerian Businesses by Elueme: 6:16am On Jul 07, 2012
Ghana has always portrayed greed.. They want to be economic power of West Africa, an agenda am not against but the manner they do it matters. Talking of economy, Nigerians trading in Ghana is because of new opportunities dia due to over saturation of our economy and under saturation of theirs which means our economy is far overblotted over theirs.. Just the way China or Japan citizens may invest in Nigeria, not because our economy is better but they are exploring on new opportunities and expanding their frontiers... Haters should get this clearly into their flicking heads

Rossikk: Personally I think we should BREAK DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH GHANA.

This nonsense has gone on too long.

I can bet you their economy would collapse like a house of cards if we pulled the plug on them. Stop the low priced oil supplies, order our banks and financial institutions to divest from their economy. And finally, we could clandestinely sponsor their neighbours like Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso to destabilize them, since they have no real army to defend their country. In fact we could mess them up so badly they'd be worse than Somalia in 3 years. In the end, we'll send in our ECOMOG troops to save them from themselves, and they'll become another grateful Nigerian 'colony' like Sierra Leone and Liberia. You are thinking.. Why I love America anytime anyday

Akiika: Call Dino whatever you like but,.....is the corruption he exposed on the floor of the house (about Dimeji Bank-OLE and co.) TRUE or FALSE? Is what he just said TRUE or FALSE? How can people display an absolute aberration for the rule of law and yet still walk free on the street. If that scandal is properly investigated, i bet even Timbuwal (the speaker) will be culpable. I have always maintained that the military is still coming one more time.
My brother why are so blind in your sympathy for melaye and his cohorts.. Nobody is saying the govt is saint or GEJ doesn't have his errors but what is of essence is constructive criticisms.. At times be corrigible to acknowledge the good sides of govt or the president. However, these sporadic nd nonstop ccriticisms embellished in obvious lies makes the informed among us to question the intent and purpose of these players.. Don't be deceived melaye is just beefing and he is a hawk
PoliticsRe: Why Senate Should Impeach GEJ – Melaye by Elueme: 9:49pm On Jul 05, 2012
dedeike: Inspite of all the efforts of most Hired agents on this forum to confuse issues, I will always try to remain on the path of facts and truth hence my resolve to treat all the issues raised by Dino one by one.I will do this with all civility , decency and proof while expecting that the hired agents will once again resort to the laughable 40 laptop theory.
One, Dino lied when he said other Ministers were better. We all hve a dossier of these Ministers. ETETE acquired so much wealth to the extent that he was rumored to be breeding lions in his PH residence. ETIEBET became so much rich from corruption that he floated and funded a political party in pursuance of his failed presidential bid.
Two, Dino lied when he said the ministry was decentralized under Obj. We all know and heavily criticized Obj for appropriating the office of MINISTER OF PETROLUEM. OBJ WAS MINISTER OF PETROLUEM. when calls against this anomaly reached a deafening crescendo, OBJ had to create additional portfolios for Gas, oil, energy etc. These were cosmetic Ministries with no much schedule, office or even perm secs or directors.
Three, Dino also lied when he accused DIEZANI of the brazen corruption in NNPC. In all the revelations emerging from all the investigations in the oil sector, none has directly linked DIEZANI to the scandals. That is not to say that she's a saint but at least as intellectuals we must learn to speak with facts. What DINO deliberately hid from the public is that DIEZANI is the one spearheading all these revelations because of her reforms. DIEZANI appears very unpopular today because she is the one who has mustered the courage to confront the cabal that has held our oil industry prostrate. Look at her policies. 1. Withdrawal of oil subsidy upon which the cabal has corruptly enriched themselves. 2. Impose higher barriers in the template for participation of oil companies in the export crude market. 3. Formulation of the new PIB which is set to revolutionaries the industry. 4. Instigated serious probes in the oil sector like the AIG IMOUKEHEDE committee and the KPMG AUDIT thus bringing to fore the can of worms in NNPC and the subsequent major shake up. 5. Pursuing full deregulation of the downstream sector for more efficiency and transperancy. 6. Insisting on local content in the crude market.
Four, Dino lied again when he sought to heap JP MORGAN on DIEZANI's Head. We all know that JP MORGAN is an illegal account by NNPC and CBN. ordinarily, our searchlight should be concentrated at SANUSI LED CBN. But these EL RUFAI agents on Nairaland would rather prefer to confuse issues and divert our attention from their paymasters's kinsman.
In conclusion, I know that none of these El rufai and KOBOJUNKIE agents would risk joining issues with me on the facts I have raised above rather they will come up with the usual
40 man laptop propaganda. I have one advice for them. GROW UP
@ dedeike, you are versed.. Please educate these dungs by whatever names they are called... I lost interest in these anti govt/ GEJ slogans on this NL when I realized that the likes of kobo junkie and co are far from being dispassionate in their analysis of issues.. They have sold out to the devil by their disposition and may their souls find redemption or else they will be slaves in poverty to disgruntled politicians aka elrufai, melaye , Tinubu etc

Our govt is really putting on a thinking cap..also good to see that the phcn workers ain't being adamant as like before when this privatization issue first came up.. Nigeria should move forward and only complete though regulated privatization of phcn can we get it right in our quest to glory in the area of power generation.. I ll hope that the govt keeps to their words and adequately give these workers their entitlement though many will be re-employed by the new owners
BusinessRe: Dangote Vs Ibeto: Judge Wants Single Hearing by Elueme: 12:43pm On Jul 05, 2012
This Aliko guy is desperately greedy.. Govt has its reserved right or policy to encourage smaller investors to growth which ordinarily will bring about needed economic emmacipation .. But Dangote and his company is just being greedy here.. He should remember how Abacha nurtured him to growth by granting him the monopoly to many businesses as well as making the policy to favor him now he has grown and doesn't want to see others measure up... He should cover himself in shame.. Rubbish!

Your analogy is wrong. Lagos was very much developed before states like Akwaibom was created... I give it to Akwaibom ibom

porka: I think you have made a valid point in bringing to fore many controversies surrounding this company and its alleged parent company. We will continue to monitor things as they unfold.

However, to your question, please refer to Nigeria pre-MTN/Econet's adventure in 2001. Many people raised similar questions why the Oranges, the AT&Ts of this world did not show interest. Why some third rate telcos from Zimbabwe and South Africa? They asked. However, we have seen what their risk-averse, ask-questions-do-nothing, it-will-never-work, corruption-rife mentality has caused them. A life-time miss in opportunity to invest in a volatile but promising market.
@ Porka, well said, God bless you

Shell said it paid the Federal Government $46 billion (N7.2 trillion) oil tax revenue in four years from 2007 to 2011.

The company's briefing notes obtained by our correspondent states that Shell Petroleum Development Company paid about $38 billion as tax and royalty, while its offshore arm, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company paid $6 billion during the same period.

The multinational oil company also said it contributed over $164.1 million to the Niger Delta Development Commission last year as required by law.

Additionally, $76.3 million was directly invested by the company towards addressing social and economic development challenges in the region, according to the notes.

Shell said its gas flaring dropped by over 60 percent between 2002 and 2011 from over 0.6 billion cubic feet a day to about 0.2 bcf/d, adding that flaring intensity was almost halved in the same period, from about 0.80 Mscfd/bbl to 0.45 Mscf/bbl.

According to the company, despite the restiveness in the Niger Delta and delays in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation contract approval processes, it installed associated gas gathering infrastructure at 36 sites between 2000 and 2011 covering about 65 percent of its associated gas production.

It, however, said 18 of these facilities were either vandalized or not commissioned because of the crisis in the Delta region between 2006 and 2010.

Shell said: "In May 2010, following improvement in the security situation in the Niger Delta, SPDC resumed work on additional gas gathering projects. By the end of 2011, seven of the vandalized facilities had been completed and work is underway at 17 new sites.

"The associated gas to be gathered will be available for use in power stations and by industries. When completed, these projects will extend AGG coverage to more than 90 per cent of the associated gas produced in our operations. SPDC estimates the entire AGG program will cost over $6 billion when completed."

$46BILLION DOLLARS AND YET WE ARE STILL STRUGGLING TO REPAIR OUR REFINERIES. HOWEVER,IT COSTS $4.5 BILLION TO BUILD JUST 6 REFINERIES,WHEN WE HAVE OVER $46BILLION THAT CAN FETCH US 10 REFINERIES.
FROM THE ARTICLE ABOVE,THIS TAX PROCEEDS OF $46BILLION IS JUST FROM SHELL ALONE, NOT TO TALK OF EXXONMOBIL, TOTAL,CHEVRON,AGIP ETC.
NA GOD GO HELP US FOR THIS NIGERIA.
In your thinking , Nigeria should re-invest all the $46 billion dollars into refineries because refineries are the only problems this country have. First , I can't authenticate your claim of she'll paying that royalty and at the same time, I cannot dispute you but when subsidy was removed and promises of new refineries by investors were one of the numerous promises made in exchange but you and other Nigerians said you preferred a turn around maintainence though similar approach hasn't taken us anywhere in the past. Are u aware that the award for the TAM of our four refineries have been sealed and work has invariably started? The president and his team isn't relenting, and u are aware of the shakeup in NNPC, the new proposed PIB, the senate committee unveiling an alien account of NNPC , this topic in discuss etc. . These are enough to make us watch keenly and stopped being deceived by unscrupulous elements with clandestine agenda for govt and governance..let us pray for Nigeria to get it right
BusinessRe: US Investors To Build 6 Refineries In Nigeria by Elueme: 6:58am On Jul 04, 2012
I have found it diffIcult to comment on this issue since its post' not because am not aware or does not appreciate the intent and purpose of this MOU , neither will I deny the unrelenting efforts of govt to prove its critics wrong by ever being more committed to deliver on the numerous electoral promises but because the messengers of doom representing the interest of elrufai and co will never see anything good from a PDP led govt.... They ll do everything possible to waive this as another ruse from govt.. But if you are a nigerian or a true citizen of a nation, courtesy demands u keep some level of faith or have some allegiance to your govt irrespective why @ times am tempted to think some of us here are Ghanians or Nigeriens helping to propagate the message of retrogression... However, the testimonies of many ll soon change....
