ebenholer2:1 barrel = $75 (let's say). 1.6 million barrel per day = $120 million per day 211 million people make $120 million per day 1 person makes = $0.56 There is no need to convert to Litres but let me show you. 1 barrel ($75) = 159 Litres. Therefore, I litre = $0.47. 1.6 million barrel per day = 254,400,000 Litres per day 1 Litre = $0.47. Therefore 254,400,000 Litres = $120 million per day 211 million people. Same result. Crude Oil revenue per head = $0.56 Compare to Saudi, Kuwait, UAE & Qatar that have $19.5, $45.7, $28 & $32 Oil revenue per head. You see my point. Those countries are the real Oil-rich or dependent country as they can live on the black commodity alone. Let me also point to you that Qatar generates about 1.3 million barrel per day, 300k less than us. So, it's not about the number of millions of barrels alone. Russia does not consider itself an Oil-dependent country despite having over 9.7 million barrels every day (second only to Saudi) because Oil revenue per head is $4.72 (143 million population). Even without the oil theft in the Niger-Delta (about 40%), refining cost, oil subsidy & arbitrage scam, massive corruption etc Oil revenue alone can't sustain us. Nigeria needs to diversify largely away from Oil if it will survive. Oil revenue should only make up 5-15% of our gross income. I am writing all these so we stop the illusion of the Oil money. Someone once told me that every Nigeria can be collecting 100,000 naira monthly and we will still have much left. It's funny.. right? Nigeria can not afford the minimum wage many are suggesting on this thread. Thanks for reading. |
It's not an excuse, the country is broke even if no kobo is stolen. When Okonjo said it many years ago, she was not lying. Its worse now. Wastage needs to stop of course but Nigeria needs to generate wealth from the abundance of resources. If you have studied Nigeria's financial numbers, you will understand. We have the potential to be among the wealthiest but we are very broke now. We need to admit that first and stop all the illusion. benqo01: |
What oil abundance? Be deceiving yourself. Nigeria is not oil rich. 1.6 million barrels per day for 211 million people. That's $0.6 per head per day. Lets stop this illusion abeg. Qatar has over 3 million per day for just 4 million people. That's an oil rich country The governor has done well. Obrigardo: |
No. Nigeria is not rich. The country is broke and cant afford such demand. Pakman: |
Comments here are very funny. Most people seem to be very political. Anyone on their good book can do no wrong. Bashir made a good point that shouldn't have come from him. Its quite absurd when you see privileged kids raised by corrupt money make such comments. Its derogatory and stinking. When a clean oil enters an unclean vessel, it becomes unclean. To Mr falz, when you come out as an activist, rightly criticising corrupt politicians, you will be held to a moral standard because you are a public figure and a role model. In Lagos alone, there are more than 10 hospitals that will do this surgery. What's it about going to abroad for everything? Even govt hospitals can handle this surgery. To be fair to Lagos state govt, the state have fairly equipped general hospitals. The problem is the time wasting. However, more privileged people like Falz can use any of the well equipped specialist hospitals in Lagos. The govt cant provide all the health care needs and thats why we need the private sectors. Aproko dr had a brain tumour surgery in a Nigerian hospital, operated by our doctors. He's another influencer and sharing the news alone would have made more people to believe in our drs. If every privileged person is like falz, make money in Naija and go for simple treatments abroad, then health care business will break down. More doctors will run away. If he knows being held to such standard is too much, he should stay off the spotlight. He even shared it on the SM. Just kneel surgery o. And please guys, stop making this political. Our politicians are useless but lets address all these fake activists too just as would do politicians. They are both influential people in our polity that should be held to a standard of integrity. |
Another funny thread. People arguing over other peoples money. The rich are friends across all ethnic groups and races while the poor are always divided and arguing among themselves over things that cant benefit them. Life is an individual race guys. Go and work hard to make money. You are getting older every day |
Stop this. The woman is not sick and has no serious medical condition. She's just bald. tesppidd: |
saintmm:Lol. Read very well. These are not just mere sanctions. No country has been this sanctioned before. Its unprecedented. The sanctions are coming from every corner. They are basically disconnecting Russian economy from the global economy. No one will save Russia. Not even China. Russians are in big trouble. You wont hear their cry because the dictator has blocked the world from reaching them and them from knowing what's currently happening. Time will tell |
We4all:That's poor man's mentality. The richest know how to use debt to create and multiply wealth. It's not called debt. It's called leverage. Every rich entrepreneur use this wealth creating tool. Besides, the so called debt in on the Dangote business and not Dangote himself. His net worth is over $13 billion . Net means excluding debt. As for the second part, wealth and relationship bring uncommon privileges. The richest everywhere on the planet always get. Even in Nigeria, it's not exclusive to Dangote. |
Mummyfour:Honestly Madam, I don't think your first comment is detrabilized. Very unbalanced and aggressive posing one group as the devil and the second as the angel. If you are new on nairaland, that's forgivable but if you've been around here for some time and gone through different threads, it would be safe to call you a hypocrite. There is no love on nairaland. Here is full of hate displayed to opposing tribes. Coward tribalists who don't have the gut to come out openly use a faceless group like this. The comments against the Igbos tonight on this thread is sickening and sad. So much hatred but it's nothing new. It can only be on this forum. However, I think I have seen worse. If you have ever been on a thread where Igbo guys displayed hatred against others, I wonder if you would make the same comment or read on. These ethnic thugs are just counting scores. The hatred is not one-sided as you made it seem. Its reciprocal. You are the only one coming to defend one part of this evil group and defending the other yet appearing neat and neutral. I think non-tribalist shouldn't take any side in this nairaland ethnic civil war or such might be taken as a hypocrite or another one of them. We can only hope Seun and the mods will find something to do about this. |
Is that not Ngolo Kante? |
Just admit you goofed by not quoting me. I will understand. You said Drogba didn't feature in ucl final 08 which he did. What's there to interpret or understand? You just want to argue with everyone. femi4: |
Small boy, how old were you then? Drogba played and got a red card in the extra time. femi4: |
And where was Drogba in 2008 UCL final against Man Utd? He even got a red card. femi4: |
Chachamiliano:You need help. There are at least 10 teams in Europe that will beat Brazil and Argentina very easily. Bolivia cant be confident of beating any team in Europe. Unless you are trolling but if you meant that thing you wrote there, you seriously don't know anything and don't deserve to be part of the discussion |
Austineva2:FG did not pocket them anything. All of them are the same - hustling for their pockets |
An Independent Review Panel has cleared the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, of any ethical wrongdoings. The panel’s report was sent, on Monday, to the chairperson of the Bureau of Governors of the bank, Niale Kaba. PREMIUM TIMES reported how the Independent Review Panel was set up by the Bureau of Governors of the Bank, following a complaint by the United States, to review the process by which two previous organs of the Bank – the Ethics Committee of the Board, and the Bureau of the Board of Governors – had previously exonerated Adesina. The three-member Independent Review Panel include Mary Robinson, who is a former President of the Republic of Ireland, a former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Chairperson of the Elders, a global body of wise persons concerned with the world’s wellbeing; the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Gambia, Hassan B. Jallow; and Leonard McCarthy, a former Director of Public Prosecutions, a former Director for the Office of Serious Economic Offences, and a former Head of the Directorate of Special Operations of South Africa. He also served as the Vice President of Integrity for the World Bank for nine years. After reviewing the activities of the ethics committee and the allegations against Mr Adesina, the independent panel said it “concurs with the (Ethics) Committee in its findings in respect of all the allegations against the President and finds that they were properly considered and dismissed by the Committee.” Source: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/405469-afdb-read-full-report-of-independent-panel-that-cleared-adesina.html |

No l, I don't think that's the case. You only get to read about this in Nigerian tabloids because it involves Nigerians. There are many cases that don't involve Nigerians VillageHead: |
Seriously?. Are people actually jubilating because of WAEC result? WAEC? Let me just believe the news is celebrated by the usual Afonja/Igbo crew I have lived and worked in Rivers State education sector for 7 years and I can confirm over 90% of malpractices. Where I served in 2011, students who couldn't even write properly had credits and distinctions. The funniest is one girl wey dey sample different corpers had distinction in Maths. She could barely do simple arithmetics. We should be sober not celebrating this nonsence unless of course the group of people I mentioned above . Don't even try to convince them. They are here to just have fun. I no blame them. Work no dey the country. |
After reading comments here, I want to ask. Is there any law to force UK people to kneel to greet the royals. I have seen past UK PMs Blair, Cameron, Browns greeted the queen. They only bowed. Never seen them kneeling like Theresa. I don't support Agege bread or what do they call him but the condemnation from the people is just too much. Back off people |
hollah123:You are very much correct. I called my fiancee at Umuahia. She's a teacher. She told me they had to sit at home because they were afraid. She added that most people who didn't go to work have same reason. It's better to sit at home than to be caught in a fracas between Ipob and the security agencies. Meanwhile in PH, the Igbos here don't even know anything like that is ongoing. |
its shameful reading some comments here. Gyan is right. With the way boys here comment one would be left with no choice but to believe that most NL boys are dull. shameful indeed |
