Politics › NNPC Begins Direct Delivery Of Fuel To IPMAN Stations by emamos(op): 8:01pm On Dec 29, 2015
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has initiated direct supply of petrol to Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) retail outlets in the country, Vanguardreports.
This was stated by the National Operation Controller of IPMAN, Mr. Mike Osatuyi, during an inspection tour of some IPMAN retail outlets in Lagos. Osatuyi, who praised the initiative of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, said that more than 300 trucks of PMS were supplied last weekend.
Apart from NIPCO, Capital Oil and very few others, the NNPC previously did not supply fuel to IPMAN retail outlets for lack of confidence and irregularities carried out in most of the stations, but to bring the current supply situation under control, the Corporation began fuel supply to them.
Under the latest move, NNPC would provide petrol to registered and certified members of IPMAN, deliver the products to their respective retail stations, and ensure that, IPMAN monitors that the products are sold at the approved price of N87 per litre

Politics › Boko Haram: Buhari Vows To Find Missing Chibok Girls by emamos(op): 7:48pm On Dec 29, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday, said his administration would do everything within its power to ensure the safe return of the over 200 missing Chibok ‎girls.
The girls were in April 2014, abducted from the Federal Government Secondary school, Chibok, Borno State, by members of the Boko Haram terrorist sect.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, who spoke when the BringBackOurGirls campaign movement visited his office in Abuja yesterday, described the abduction of the girls as “tormenting and psychologically traumatising” for the nation‎.
He said: “It is tragic for a nation to have a budget meant for arms procurement for the protection of lives and property of the citizens, and end up not having the arms but compromising the process of making adequate provisions for the protection of lives of its citizens.
“The government of President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated sufficient skill and commitment to the protection of lives and property within the shortest practicable time of coming into existence, it has recorded tremendous success including confronting Sambisa forest head-on with the hope rescuing the Chik girls.”

Politics › Armsgate: All Those Found Guilty Will To Go Jail – Buhari by emamos(op): 11:18am On Dec 29, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that those found guilty of diverting funds meant for arms procurement will be jailed.
In an interview with BBC Hausa service, the president said: “Remember during the campaigns, we said Nigeria is facing three things and nobody disputed that assertion.”
“Firstly, there was widespread insecurity – a war in the north-east, while the country’s oil was being stolen at random in the south; secondly, there is massive unemployment.
“Thirdly, bribery and corruption was basically suffocating the country. If we don’t kill these monsters, this country would go down.
“That is why those who stole monies meant for arms procurement and shared it among themselves are being arrested and are being shown documents so that they would be asked to refund the money or face prosecution.
“We would use those documents to prove what they stole, collect all the assets acquired from the proceeds and then jail them.”
The president also blamed the Goodluck Jonathan administration for mutiny by Nigerian soldiers.
“I want people to understand that after I settled down and got a good grasp of what the country was going through, we removed all the service chiefs and appointed new ones.
“We also undertook an investigation and found out how the monies meant for arms procurement were diverted and shared by officials in the last administration.
“They sent the boys to the war front without arms and ammunition, leading some of them to mutiny after which they were arrested and detained.
“We have been able to raise money and fund the war. Go and ask the people of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, how many of their local governments were under the control of insurgents? And how many are currently still under the insurgents.
“Maybe we would not win the war completely by the end of the month, but the insurgents have now resorted to putting on explosive vests on young children, mostly girls aged 15 and below and then sending them to markets, mosques and churches to detonate.
“Boko Haram itself knows that the era of them taking over communities and local governments is over. If people would be fair to us, they would know that the Nigerian Army has basically met the deadline and are winning the war.
“You cannot find any significant number of Boko Haram members in Adamawa and Yobe, only maybe in about three local governments of Borno, in the area around our borders with Chad Republic. They are not in a position to threaten Nigeria now, so we have won.”

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has restated the President Muhammdu Buhari-led Federal Government’s resolve to technically meet the December 31 deadline of defeating Boko Haram insurgents in the north eastern part of the country.
The Minister made the remark at the heels of renewed Boko Haram attacks in Maiduguri metropolis and Madagali village in Adamawa State on monday, which left scores dead and several others injured.
Mohammed said this on Monday while addressing journalists at the premises of the National Theatre in Lagos shortly after inspecting the facilities at the complex as part of the tour of the parastatals under his ministry.
The Minister while reacting to insurgent attacks on Jiddari Polo, and Adawari Village, near Maiduguri metropolis, both in Borno State, where scores of people were killed between Sunday and Monday, said, “We have been vindicated because Bokom Haram have been decapitated compared to the past records.”
Mohammed insisted that the military has technically defeated Boko Haram sect, maintaining that the pockets of attacks being witnessed now was nothing compared to the near war situation the sect subjected the country to same time last year

My fellow Nigerians....
It's barely 7 months when the APC Gov't assumed power, but they way the country has turned upside-down, you'll think bad luck has waited patiently for Nigerians to vote APC.
See the queue in our gas stations, you'll think it was being given free of charge. But we buy at double the price (tears in my eyes)
To pay salaries na issue for a whole federal gov't. Seeing an alert is enough reason to give thanksgiving in church (tears start rolling down my face)
Now our able VP, Prof. Osinbajo is travelling to Dubai on vacation, as if Christmas never do am (starts wailing)

As FG moves to reduce fuel price to reflect market conditions
Chineme Okafor and
Paul Obi in Abuja
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on Saturday said the planned removal of fuel subsidy was illegal and diversionary, adding that the congress will not take it lightly should the government go ahead with the plan billed to take off in January.
The Congress was reacting to the remarks by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, who said government had resolved to scrap oil subsidy because of fraud around it.
The minister had said: “So for the first time people will understand that the pricing modulation I was talking about is not a gimmick. It is for real. The objective is that we cannot afford to continue to subsidize. We can’t even understand where those subsidies were going to. There is a lot of fraud elements in it so we need to cut that off. The second is that the earning capacity of the Federal Government is deteriorating by the day with lower prices of crude.”
Kachikwu, who is also the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) also said a new fuel price regime that may see fuel sell for as low as N85 per litre would be announced next week to reflect the new market conditions.
But in his reaction to the planned removal of the petroleum subsidy, NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, in an interview with THISDAY, said the organised labour would hold the President accountable on his promise not to tinker with the subsidy arrangement.
He therefore declared the planned removal of fuel subsidy illegal and diversionary.
The NLC president said the decision by President Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) government to remove fuel subsidy did not fall within the purview of their campaign promises during the 2015 general elections.
“We will hold him (President Buhari) accountable on his campaign promises. If they were going to remove subsidy, that was not part of their campaign promises during the elections. President Buhari has promised Nigerians that he will not remove fuel subsidy – that is his promise, we will hold him to his words,” Wabba said.
NLC President said though the union had yet to receive the details, government’s decision to tinker with fuel subsidy was wrong-headed and illegal given that the processes required to effect the removal of the subsidy had not been complied with.
“The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) by law is supposed to regulate petroleum products prices and it is made up of a board of stakeholders. NLC is also part of the board

Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has blamed some officials of the Lagos State Government as well as traditional rulers of the Ibeju-Lekki area of responsibility for the crises besetting the community, especially the deadly conflicts over disputed land.

Oba Akiolu spoke earlier today when he appeared at a coroner’s inquest at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja. The inquest is mandated to investigate the causes of crises in the Ibeju-Lekki community culminating in several deaths. One of the more recent deaths was of Tajudeen Disu, chairman of the Lekki Free Zone that oversees development in the disputed land area.

Giving testimony at the inquest, Oba Akiolu criticized state government officials, saying their greed had fueled the crises. He declared that some state government officials were insincere and blinded by their greed, leading to actions that were against both good conscience and the interests of the residents of the community.

In addition, Oba Akiolu stated that some traditional rulers in the Ibeju-Lekki area were only concerned with their selfish financial interests. He accused them of cutting deals over land rather than focusing on planning for the larger community along and seeking the interests of their people.

The Oba’s testimony suggested that some staff of the Lagos State Ministry of Lands and Survey were engaged in rackets to issue certificates of land ownership. He praised inhabitants of the community for resisting the hijack of their communal land by greedy officials who have sold most of the land without helping to resettle the displaced residents. Even so, Oba Akiolu criticized the inhabitants for using the wrong methods in their fight, noting that they lacked exposure and were therefore easy to manipulate.

“The land belongs to the dead, the living and the unborn,” Oba Akiolu stated in his testimony to the coroner, Justice Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi. He added that the selling off the communal land had indigenous members of the community into strangers on their own land. He dared any of the local rulers to oppose his position on the issue, stating that they were too preoccupied with cutting deals in order to obtain cash largesse from business owners interested in acquiring land in the area, but with no concern for peace with the inhabitants
