@ Highchief
May your reign be long. You understand exactly what i feel, what i was trying to say.
@ 9jaganja
Would you have preferred me to strike the word southerners in the phrase" southerners in Lagos" and replace with: "igbos,Yoruba's,urhobos ,binis ,edos, aniomas anangs, ibibios, efiks, illajes, ijaws (and all the others i might have missed) in Lagos? So be it.

Its not like i have an evil agenda or death wish for Lagos (Heaven forbid) but i was trying to explain that something like that happening here affects everyone and therefore will knock the docility out of "us all".

BTW as for my "target suggestion"  earlier on, let know one accuse me  of fanning the embers of an attack on fellow(?)Nigerians. For long it has been speculated that boko haram had their murderous bloodshot eyes set on Lagos, its populace and infrastructure. If anything i put that threat in perspective. Its up to the security services to seriously analyse that scenario and come up with protocols which if in place will counter the possibilities of such an attempt  sucsucceeding initiating multilayered strategies (pitfalls and trip ups if you will) for the potential attackers.
All competent security services in the world play a deadly game of WHAT IF? And when credible information of threats are passed to them as happened earlier this week, they do not sit on that info saying we dey kampe as our(?) security people did. They make it public and reassure people that they are aware of the new threat and that they are aggressively pursuing it  without necessarily giving out operational info. On that level alone the terrorists (if they can not guaranty  their succes shelve their mission unless: if the stories going around that BH have symphatisers within the security establishment are true in which case "WE" are toast.

You are right  afam i guess i deserved that.  A bomb in lLagosis the last thing anybody wants (tbh including me) but i have felt loss in kaduna 2000 and Kano 2007 ( a friend and an acquaintance). I admit I'm a bitter individual however what makes me really mad is the acceptance that the south adopts afterwards.Ohh they scream, rave, rant write articles  for a couple of weeks then,
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
They forget, and DO NOTHING!!!!Why? Because it did not affect them personally.
Which is exactly why it happens, again and again and AGAIN.
What i suggested tests the theory t.that we Nigerians specifically Southerner don't care what happens that we don't have a breaking point.
I have my family (part or most of it)  here in Lagos so its not about me being unwilling to feel the pain.

@ Homerac7
I did much rather prefare attacks in LAGOS than anywhere else in the south say PH or ENUGU why?
An attack on any other location by BH even though will result badly could be attributed to some group down SE/SS but at Lagos will result in the unraveling of this country.
I know you will all hate me but i want to give BH some target advisory:
Load some ten or even 4 trucks full of high explosives disperse them all over Lagos at major traffic congestion hubs at night in the thick of the traffic then detonate.Targets locations:
third mainland bridge:
falomo bridge overpass
bonny camp bridge overpass
dopemu bridge overpass
ojota/ketu/berger bridge overpass
There could be other targets but these (the overpass placements)guarantee maximum damage resulting from increased traffic density and secondary damages ohh don't forget the global visibility you've been craving for not to mention the END OF NIGERIA.
Lagos is the most blended territory of Nigeria in Nigeria. An attack of that sort will catalyse what Nigeria will become:a footnote in history.

@ afam,
In a way we share the same name a part of my name has the same meaning as yours. Why am i saying this? Because you disappoint me.
Everybody knows that even  the most placid individuals will at some point down the road in the face continued harassment  or a specific trigger event lash out.
If you know anything about nuclear physics it takes CRITICAL MASS for an explosion  to occur. As  as the trigger conventional explosives(continuous unprovoked killings up north regardless of which group)  compress fissile matter (aggrieved people)together there comes a time when  a lot of that matter(mass/southerners) occupy the same subatomic space(feel the same hurt/pain/loss /rage) they act as one.when that happens the outburst will not be contained by civility, rationality, fear or logic only 2 emotions will rule them :HATE&REVENGE. This what the writer is warning about.

@ Kobojunkie
I get the feeling you want to come back to ekiti under some entity other than Nigeria perharps Oduduwa republic no?
Ask any military minded analyst the events of the last eight months in Libya was a rude reinforcement /confirmation(more like) of what could happen in a contry like Nigeria if say the Niger-deltans or more optimally the Niger-delta and the south-east insist on withdrawing from Nigeria over some perceived slight all the while supported by the usual suspects who will call for peacetalks negotiations and all what not all the while they have already decided that the resulting new nation/nations suit their interest better(pay particular attension to the fact that for a while the rebels only had 4x4s something widely available in the ND).Even the Chinese will get in line.
I have an assignment for you:Imagine if you will Goodluck Jonathan being impeached via a core northern and western majority in congess or worse still his motorcade being attacked successfully with him killed in say KANO while he is on an official visit there.
On second thot dont the aftermath is too grave to contemplate.

Apart from the current loss of life occasioned by BH's activities i see in the long term the south benefiting from this politically and economically.
I know its far fetched but i belive some people probably outside this country are ultimately masterminding things  unbeknownst to those who those who think they  control boko haram and it's agenda  and not for the Norths benefit.i suspect foreign intelligence their aim :Balkanise the country Ala Libya.

Admit it , Aregbeshola , Oshimole have not been very encouraging with their performance or i would say lack of it. Pray why , what reason could an Executive Governor have for not appointing commissioners for seven going to eight months into his administrations' tenure ?
I ask you(not the other Yoruba tribal champions) because i know that even though the urge to get defensive comes up,you have shown yourself capable of rising above looking at issues with ethnic/political lenses even though you do struggle with it (as the best of us do at times) . To save you the trouble of asking my interest in the state of affairs in Osun and the southwest in general , stem from the fact that i spent at least one very active year in Osun in addition to the 5+ in Ondo as well as current time spent in Lagos.Having spent that much time around the southwest and paid my tax in this zone, I'd say i have a right to worry or comment don't you think?

PhonesMTN Responds To Salami's Claims: Says Systems Can't Be Hacked by EMANY01(op): 12:14am On Jun 11, 2011
I did not know whether to cry or laugh when i read Salami's defense.

NJC PROBE: MTN counters Salami •Says our system can’t be hacked into •Panel concludes hearings on petitions

| Print | E-mail

Written by Lanre Adewole, Abuja Friday, 10 June 2011

CURTAINS were drawn on hearings in petitions arising from the Ekiti and Osun state governorship appeals on Thursday, with telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria, reportedly telling the five-man National Judicial Council (NJC) probe panel that its system was impregnable to hackers conducting illegal activities.

MTN’s Senior Manager, Commercial Legal, in the Corporate Affairs Division, Mr Rotimi Odusola, who incidentally was a witness of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Isa Salami, was said to have contradicted Salami’s claim that his MTN mobile line was hacked to call chieftains of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before, during and after the controversial judgments in the two states.

Salami brought before the panel his court’s Head of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Mr Sheriff Usman, penultimate Wednesday, who reportedly testified that the hacking process possibly used against Salami was “spoofing.”

Spoofing is the practice of causing a telephone network to display a number on the recipient’s phone which is not that of the actual caller.

It is an authorised way of using a subscriber’s line illegally.

Salami, while not denying the conversation with the ACN chieftains, was said to have defended the usage of his MTN line with the spoofing theory, culminating in his invitation of the MTN official to prove that the telecommunications firm was not fool-proof.

Former Governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State and Segun Oni of Ekiti State had accused Salami of engaging in unholy conversation in the course of determining governorship appeals in the two states.

Odusola, however, reportedly contradicted Salami by saying “hacking is not possible in our system.”
The MTN manager was also said to have been made to read The Nation newspaper of February 26, 2011 tendered by Salami, in which the telecoms company confirmed that it was not possible to hack into its system.

Confirming the release of the call logs in respect of the case at hand to the National Security Adviser (NSA), the MTN boss, who reportedly said call logs from the organisation were always released on demand, added that such was always released in hard copies, through email or in flash drives to security agencies or to the individual subscribers.

A source privy to the proceedings quoted him as saying “we print the CDR (logs). The exception is we sometime released electronically and through flash drives to the subscribers, police, SSS and EFCC.”

Under cross-examination by counsel for former governors of Osun and Ekiti states, Lekan Olatawura, he reportedly said that MTN prints call logs in standard A4 papers, while he was said to have admitted that when photocopied, the paper “could be enlarged with bolder prints.”

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the MTN manager further confirmed that the entries in the call logs tendered by the NSA tallied with those in the logs submitted by the Osun and Ekiti PDP with their petitions.

He was said to have found it difficult to explain why his company claimed in a letter to the NJC that it did not have call logs earlier than February this year but curiously submitted those of December 2010 and January 2011 to the NSA.

Another set of the same call logs sought to be tendered by the PDP was reportedly turned down by the panel on the grounds that their covering letter was not certified by a High Court.

The panel was said to have announced the conclusion of its sitting on the Ekiti and Osun states matter after Salami reportedly closed his case while the PDP was asked to submit its address on Monday next week.

Justice Salami opened his defence before the NJC probe panel on a dramatic note, as he brought a witness to prove that his telephone line was hacked into to make calls to ACN chieftains and lawyers.

Tosh! trying to sound like you know anything about "WRASS"!

So foolhardy that you failed to explain why a city wide network jamming would be effective in preventing a bomb effectively programmed to a "RASS" which I can set off without the need for your "network"

Again, like the typical average pint sipping dude on the street, when you can't reason out why something has happened, you resort to speculations!
Bros forgive me  for  inferring even if  unintentionally that you lacked  intelligence embarassed embarassed cry it was  never  my  intent. However i grew  to  love  being on  Nairaland from  the  time i joined  hearing ( or  should i say reading ?) people  like  you (specifically you  too) discuss issues with  either global dimensions  or relating to our  homeland (Nigeria) but of recent you and others   from  both sides  of  the Niger have  steadily degenerated  in  the  quality of  discus/interactions you provide on  this   site hence  my  unfortunate outburst earlier.Truth be told ( i  may  be  very)  wrong but  i  have  always  imagined  you  guys  in your 40's  or  thereabouts  full  of  lifes  experience but  all this east  versus  west versus south-south bruhara is  just  distressing.
As to  your   responce "a city wide network jamming would be effective in preventing a bomb effectively programmed to a "RASS" which YOU can set off without the need for MY network" ONLY if a  thorough  sweep and and  stake  was  not   done. In simple  terms  sanitize the  area of  intrest/concern  (for bombs and  the likes) then secure  the area. From  that   time on  leading  to  the  ceremonies no unauthorised persons allowed and  admittance (vehicular, material and personnel) given ONLY AFTER PASSING  the  strictest  possible background checks , searches and scans.
I started  my Carrier with  the  design  and  implementation of  electronic security and  safety  systems granted  i  wasn't  with  SS however  working with/for  them  on a  number of  projects you  get  to  pick up  some things  as  well as  see  things   with  alot more  detail  than  others  do.IMHO they  didnt  need  a  city wide  network shutdown but  when you  consider  the advantages of   disrupting  any  of  the Cs' (Communication Command Control) for  any  potential troble makers it  becomes  understandable also  in the  event  that someone  or somepeople  started something outside the areas  of  intrest but  within  the  city  the total   shutdown  will  serve  to  control  the  srpead  of   information  as  well as  panic   while   agencies   tasked  to   handle  that  eventuality   do   their  job.Be  assured that they  wouldn't  be  having  the  same  problems  with  communications.

@ Omo-tier 1
Its hard very hard seeing that responce of yours to ascribe any level of intelligence to you.
For your education the blanket jamming of mobile network signals was effected by the SSS they didn't even have to actively jam the signals even though they had the capability they simply mandated the NO's to exclude coverage to/of a specified vicinity of all activities related to the inauguration/Eagle square.
On the other hand all miscellaneous radio signals (wireless,802.3 a,b-etc,specific ranges of microwave 2way multiway radios) were actively disrupted (jammed).
For those with any "IQ" i shouldn't have to explain the security objectives/ requirements that necessitated these actions needless to say,( for the benefit of OMO-TIER 1 and people with "high IQ" like him) nobody could REMOTELY coordinate any sort of trouble or detonate any explosive device(s).

These were the same planes Obj bought some 6/8 years ago i remember thinking thinking this was a mistake.if you recall the spy plane incident/spat between the US and China just after Bush became presidient when a chinise plane ( f7/j 7 fighter jet) collided with an america intel/survaillance prop plane, the chinese fighter was destroyed but the prop lane(+ cqfe) survived wella.

I would have been amused if we weren't talking about the death of people.
First they contest the number of people killed, now they insist that those killed were not exclusively southerners or Christan's, that Hausa's were involved but  no one seems to  be able to identify the dead Hausa's as you read this .
In any case the death of one man is one too many.
As for those who are buying the OP's story i really feel sorry for you guys. Be sure to have somesort of insurance benefit your family if you
feel so comfortable being up north.
A note of warning though : you do not have to do anything to provoke them your very existence, just being your southern eccentric self in is  provocation enough .
PoliticsRe: Would The South Be Peaceful If Jonathan Was Rigged Out by EMANY01(m): 5:28am On Apr 23, 2011
Nobody in the south  would  have gone on a killing  spree down  south not especially when Jonathan lost  fair and  square and  if  he  was stepping  aside.
I guess Bakare must be feeling prescient now.His alignment with this harbinger of death no one would ordinarily touch with a pole gave him and his even more blood thirsty supporters the deluded fantasy that only him could save Nigeria and that he would win ANYVOTES at all in the SE & SS.As someone w born and raised in Kano, and whose common entrance to secondary school took place the day of Reinhard Bonke riots started, l left home(gyeadi gyeadi area) it was peacefull all the way and then i was grabbed from school by my parents by 11:20 am joining a convoy of vehicles with heavily armed police escort on our way i saw for the first time in my life as a smallboy deadbodies: hacked, headless, bloodied and burnt. I was a child at the time but the images&smell of death are still in my mind.we didn't go home for about a week and the riots persisted for 5days.
The riots reoccured at an average of two times a year through out my secondary school education even after i got into the university .
I can not count how many times i was worried in school about my folks back home especially in my second and third years.
I totally understand Jonathan winning more in the SE than the SS.

Ever before the elections my folks had put into effect a contingency plan for this very possibility.
A lot of supposedly intellectual people made a lot of Noise on line/offline for the BB/CPC ticket so much i kept wondering where the votes to do that would come from because the man (BUHARI) was a POLITICAL LEPER in the S"SOUTH/S"EAST.No politician with any promice of political future was going to be in the same room with him not to mention associate with him politically.
BUHARI is the FACE OF THE NORTH that has dealt domination, manifest destiny, marginalisation, deprivation and others too much to mention.
25 years ago he sabotaged the Lagos metroline project what few people realise is that had that project taken off in Lagos being a federal capital and by that virtue a pace setter state would have spread
to PH ,Benin Ibadan Calabar heck even KD &Kano .
No south eastern business man would forget how they had to always get a core northerner to front for them before they could obtain contracts from the PTF even for projects in the south east & south south not that there was a substantial number of those compared to projects done up north.
No south southern will ever forget how Buhari posited that there had to be a refinery in Kaduna at their expence they also would never forget how even till this moment NNPC , DPR &NGC had all top influential strategic positions occupied by kinsmen and Confederates of Buhari because of policies he put in place and expanded by IBB.
His very resounding defeat was long in coming.
Only foolish and severely deluded southerners (i care not what region/religion or level of education ) would have voted for Buhari. If as they claim Buhari's presidency was the only way to stop corruption or the last chance to save Nigeria then we might as well forget Nigeria.Sad reality is that should any of the BB fans find themselves on the streets in areas like
citi in Kano and tudun-wada in kaduna right now,the had better make their peace with the GOD they serve cos their burnt hacked bloddied and headless bodies would be what will be left of them it matters non if they ware clothing with Buhari's picture and cpc's logo on them.

This is the same man who in 2007 told the prospective Pdp governorship candidates that they had to agree among themselves to let go of some states so as to make the general outlook of the elections acceptable alas the governors in their greed refused to heed that advice.I dont blame them not having served in the military especialy at the general staff level, battle planning battle management roles they had no clue what the general had in mind.
In any engagement with an overall goal you have to be prepared to lose some ground to the enemy in doing this be certain to CHOSE THE GROUND YOU LOSE else the enemy makes that choice for you. Ofcourse in making that choice consider the least strategic/valuable territory to lose. This is all for the larger goal.
Remember also the man at Ota applies his lifetime training to politics. I wouldnt discount him just yet.

A number of the dead were corpers who conducted the registration exersise in feb/mar and who subseqently passed out early in march. However INEC lobbied some of them (all over the federation )to participate in the election exercise proper.Logial argument was they are familiar with the protocols, processes for INEC and they will be best poised to guide and assist the new set of corpers to be deployed .I say this because my girlfriends younger brother and my cousin are currently involved.
Note that Tsiga used the term "serving corpers" knowing the situation of things. My grouse with him is that he used a technicality to divest the corps of any and all relations with the dead.BTW serving corps members are in the hospital with severed limbs and he used the word injured to describe them.
