PoliticsRe: Acn: Inec Can’t Detect Multiple Registration by EMANY01(m): 5:27pm On Feb 01, 2011
@ texazzpetd,gagalicious
I agree with evethingyou have said.inec could never have undertaken  a real time simultaneous registration which would have flagged any multiple registrations at the registration point. it is just prohibitively expensive so as texaz said the limitation on the system is acceptable.
I am a  data center design proffesional  and solutions architect in my firm(dont ask). we were approached by inec with enquries about that capabilty but when they heard the possible price estimate they understandably dropped it.we are currently undertaking some serious upgrades to inecs datacenter and it is turning out to be one hell of a datacenter and i should know i have been to and participated in the design and build of  more than 50% of the best data centes in west africa(ecobank ghana, stanbic ibtc, fcnb and a whole lot of others).the wanted IBM p595 servers but when they saw the price tag (about 1 mil dollers shiping installation and setup they pooped)
Eighty million buys u a lot of what u need but it dosnt give u alk what u want.
PoliticsRe: Acn: Inec Can’t Detect Multiple Registration by EMANY01(m): 4:35pm On Feb 01, 2011
Inec can and will detect  multiple registration at the central level if need be.However it will be a really lengthy process as someone said comparing ten points finger print identification and facial reconition  for sixty million people and discriminating  matches is a job for some really serious servers.I had tought that  the data fusion and verification aspect would have taken place BEFORE the cards were distributed .jacking the DDC units(seriously all 120000 of them) to a network via some radio or phone lines would have been a way too expensive near impossible task.
In the long run i guess there wil still be somesort of public voters registere displayed after the exersice in which any and all multiple registrations will be anotated as in red listed or blacklisted meaning they wouldnt be eligible to vote with any of those identities.I expect that process to knock out some 5-8 if not 10 million names off the valid voters list, Then you will hear ACN come out with their LOUDMOUTHS claiming that"INEC is trying to deprive their members of the right tn vote ".I dispise that party no lie is benneath them.

I mentioned in another thread that the situation in Egypt may not be entirely spontaneous although contrary to what many people belive the usual suspects had nothing to do with this ,it is more than likely that Iran has a hand in this.i have nothing but the best wishes for the youth of Egypt but if they unseat this government only to install islamists like the Muslim brotherhood then they had better brace up for turbulent times as well as the possibility of war with Israel

I am not a Jonathan "supporter" but  Cote de voiur  is a side show there will be no war or airstrikes or special forces penetration why because we Nigeria and by extension West Africa dont have that capability. He is posturing  because that is all he can do.When Ecomong interverned in Liberia and Serria Lone we didnt ask permision from the UN we just did it.Asking  for permision is a bluff and he knows  that.
@tipia*
On the other hand back u have a section of the country that had dominated the country for almost as long as the country existed whose grip of power was loosnd substantially by the Ota General (mostly reviled by his people because he didnt turn around to hand the country to them) but when the sick man got into power his people realised it was their chance to return things to status quo it didnt work before they had revesed most of the progress his body gave way clearing the way for Goody to ascend to power.
The north is in a state of controlled panic reason being that  if Goodygoogy  retains that seat come May, he will be there for a long time (8 years ish) by the end of which Nigeria as they know it would be gone their domination history .With the "minorities on whose backs their domination was built (civil war any one ?) now woken from their trance it has become inperative that they reclaim power and make modifications before the semi-formal political and economic restructuring becomes set in stone over the next decade (if Nigeria survives) when that happens it would take a northern based millitary dictatorship to revese things (i doubt if that were possible) hence any  or in action of the president will play right into their hands .It is painfull to admit  but the crisis in Jos is any thing but spontaneous and poor Johny  has to use the security infrastucture designed and configured by them for them what result do you expect ?
If Obj had not substancially trimnd  their influence in the security service the people of Jos would have been "pacified" by now.Go figure

PoliticsRe: The Rise Against Operation In The Middle East. Will Naijas Learn? by EMANY01(m): 9:02pm On Jan 28, 2011
For that guy alleging that these protests are not spontaneous but the result of covert operations what you are saying might not be false but assessing the situation you can not help but notice that  in the case of Egypt  and Yemen esespecially the fall of the current governments is not  in the best interests of the usual suspects( the US ,UK,France et al) as the opposition which could gain power is rabidly anti-west (the  muslim brotherhood : which by the way has officially joined the protests and others). My suspicion lies with the east, specifically Iran (i don't see how this benefits china other than to start an intelligence war disrupting stability in each others areas of influence:a losing game for china as things stand .Russia currently is battling islamic fanatics).Iran is already committed to such a conflict if  their well  documented    current actactivities Iraq ,Afghanistan and Yemen are considered.
On the other hand Stalin it was who said, "There times when weeks happen in a decade and there are times when decades happen within weeks" decades of frustration with one man in power can boil over suddenly.
Bottom line the protests could be spontaneous although the level of spospontaneity suspect. The stakes are high in the case of Egypt if Mubarak falls the second largest military in the arab world will fall into the hands of islamic fanatics and thirty years of stategic stability or balance in the middle east vis-a-vis isreal  is gone with the wind.Giving the quality and quantity of improvements the egyptians have made millitarily thanks to the west,
the full ramifications of current events are rather scary.
PoliticsRe: Billards Clash Leads To 4 Deaths And Burning Of 5 Mosques And 50 Homes by EMANY01(m): 7:46pm On Jan 28, 2011
Speaking of being educated (or should i say literate can't seem to decide if they mean the same things or not) wether igbo, yoruba or whatever language applies to you, i have made one disturbing observation on nairaland and other on line environments: i would be the first to admit that a number of 'educated' Nigerians have (no easy way to say this) well used their education to lord it over , demean  and cheat others  a greater group have lost their identities along the way but that dosent do any justice to the benefits of western education but for cultural identity activists/advocates to classify some people as lost because they prefare western standards/education when they do things is lame.I mean its all good that Africans have produced Nobel winning literary works with context based on the African environment as well as spectacular art works but what is our history of technical development ? It is not enough to display our "rich cultural heritage"(that term irritates me everytime) to the world because china is one of the oldest civilisations with "rich cultural heritage" that mattered not to anyone until the last few decades of the twentieth century and we all know the change was not because of a richer cultural heritage.  Before someone accuses me of asserting the superiority of western education please educate me in what ways   African education/history is comparable to western style education.i mean how does one explore  concepts like differentials, integrals eigen vectors, quantum mechanics ,space and temporal physics in yoruba for instance or hausa or zulu or swahilli when no  translative words exist  as yet for some fundamental nomenclature in the west(somebody translate"electron","Mercury" "red blood cell" in any African language). Please educate me  and no insults.

cheesy Hallelujah
Finally government is doing something with the supposedly massive coal deposits within the Enugu/Benue axis of the country.
I use the word "supposed" because while the deposits are massive and their estimate figures verified and said to be one of Africa's largest no one in the government or the private sector takes that data into account when planning/estimating  energy production and reserve capacities.Diversity of energy reserves/generation is a major step towards energy security  redundancy and  rapid development.

Hate me for saying this but the second Nigerian Civil War started about 7-8yrs ago. . . . its just waiting to explode and engulf the whole country. Officially though, I'd say the war started Oct 1st, 2010.

When the history of the second civil war is being written I bet it'll be traced back to sometime 7-8yrs back, but if u guys are so deluded as to think Nigeria is not at war, then I  dont know what to say to u!
Self delusion  is  a  very  Nigerian  trait. A war  is   brewing nations    with  half  competent  intelligence  and  analytical  capabilities   can  see  it    but   what   do  we  do?Deny  the   obvious  and  lampoon  those    who  call  things  as  they  see  it no  attempt   to  reason  and   tackle   the  issues    raised  but    people  are   in  denial  and  will  conjure  statements  like  "God dey".You wonder  if  there  are  no  religious adherents in   those   nations riddled   by  war.

Neighbors didnt start hacking at eachother until the "first Liberian war" in which Samuel Doe's assassination gave the other tribes freedom to attack/ kill members of his Khran tribe for autrocities committed against them during his regime. People like Buttnaked (who was personally appointed by Doe to be his "advisor"wink went on the murderous rampage to protect themselves and avenge Doe. But liberia didn't erupt over night. Sure charles taylor lead a coup in december of 1989 however there was talk and preparation. Doe was aware and had "Ecomog" and his own personal army prepare, the only reason historians say it was "over night" was because sadly the civilians, deemed expendable, were left unaware.

As  someone   who grew up  in northern Nigeria   specifically Kano I've  have   had   experiences  with  overnight  eruption  of  rabid  murderous   violence. Its   something  i   could  never   forget: case  in  point  the   Bonke  riots in   October  90.  It  happened  to  be   my  first  day  of   secondary  school  which  started   normally  enough . A happy  young   contented boy off  to  his  new  school  but  i  could  never   forget  the  sound  of   sirens   blaring  around   the  school  neighborhood and   the   tension  the   teachers   felt  by  midday. My uncle   came  to  pick  me  up   from  school   before   close   of  the  day  with  a  police  escort and  on    the  way   home   the  sight   of   hacked ,  mutilated and  in  most  cases   burnt  human remains   seared  in  my  memory  till   today. That    was  the  first  education  i  received     on  the   fact   that   people    who  have  been  your   neighbors  for  as   long  as  you    can remember could   suddenly  turn  on   you and visit   the  most   unimaginable   horrors  on  you.It  made  a  lasting  impression  on  me   a  young  boy   just   beginning n the  second   decade   of  his  life  that   people   would  want   to   kill  you    because   you  were  of  a different religion   or   ethnicity. The violence    lasted   for   about   three days by  the  way  and three  of  the  teachers in  the  school were   lost   to  the  mayhem.
I completed my  secondary education  in  Kano   needless  to  say  there were  more  outbreaks  of  violence all of  them  sudden.

@the bolded
Is same pattern not happening again?
Military grade Bombs, rockets, Ak47s e.t.c surreptitiously entering the country, is dat not a preparation for WAR?
Are the civilians not sleeping?

Thinking  back  i  remember  certain  indicators  which  were preludes  to  these  eruptions but   nobody seemed  to  take  notice at  the   time.
That  would   have   been   some  sort    of  tactical  warning   to    the   security  services(assuming  they   were  not   compromised  already   to  ignore    these   signs  and   do   nothing  which   unfortunately   was  mostly  the  case).
Yes  I'd  say  the   civilians  are  sleeping, worst  of   all  the  security agencies  are   playing  around   with  their  eyes  off  the   ball  with  the way  they   are   handling  the  matter.
Months   leading  to   what   could  be  the  most   contentious  elections  in  the   history  of   or  country    which  might   well mark   the end  of  our   country,  arms get   shipped  into   the  country  from   an  Islamic nation   whose predilections   for  fomenting and  exacerbating   instabilities in  other  nations  and   we  are   all   sitting  and  watching  as  if   its   some   movie  with   a   storyline  happening   elsewhere . Maddness
PoliticsRe: Nigeria At 50: We Should Decentralise Powers – Ibb ! by EMANY01(m): 7:20am On Oct 01, 2010
I feel  really  sorry  for  FOOLS  who  develop   butterflies  in  their   stomachs   just  because   IBB  "proposed   decentralization".
On a   first   level   IBB is  an   Inglorious  Lying  naughty person  who   made   his   way   by   lying  to  as  many who would   buy  his   spunk just   to   achieve   his   devious    aims and  afterward s  he  would throttle  them  on  the   roadside or   if  they  were   lucky he just  forgot  about  them  (its  called   REALPOLITIK By The Way) so  why  would  you   believe  anything  this   man  says   now that   he  is  in  the  race for   Aso Rock  .
Secondly decentralization  is   not   exactly   the   solution .I  BELIEVE  Nigeria   is  a  federal  entity in  name  alone and  ( this  is  my  opinion  folks) that  Nigeria's   problems   has  never  been   the absence    of  a   framework   for  the political   or   otherwise    management  of  the country. To  be   fair   we   copied   just  about   enough  from  the   British  and   the United  States to  properly  manage   this   otherwise   great  country. The  problem   is   that   we  have   perverted whatever framework   there was/is  or  will be  so  2+2 never  turns  out  to  be   4. It  has  never  been  the  problem  of     rules   but  the CHARACTER and INTEGRITY of   those    who  administer  them (Ibori ,Igbinadion,Odili,,  etall and   their  trials   come  to  mind here the  same  Judges   who   acquitted them ,fined  them or  issued carte blanch permanent injunction preventing   their  arrest  would   think  nothing of   sentencing  a  common  criminal  to   200 years  imprisonment on  some  minor felony or misdemeanor like  stealing  Maggi  or  worse amputation   for  stealing  what  was  it   , a   cow?).
Christianity EtcRe: Quran Burning Cancel by EMANY01(m): 7:22pm On Sep 17, 2010
Islam is a "religion of peace" I wonder really  if   anyone  believes  that any  more .The cry of the muslim world isn't if you burn our book we will still love you and pray for you. Instead it is if you burn our book, draw pictures of our prophet we will kill you and cut off your head. How does that equate to a religion of peace? Where are the voices of the "moderate muslims" telling their more extreme Muslim neighbors to be tolerant, loving, kind and peaceful even in the face of the burning of the Koran? Where are you? I want to hear your voices in this? Or do you really believe that someone burning a book is worth hurting and killing people over?
The silence from leading Muslim figures is deafening at times. Whether that be through fear of recrimination is hard to judge but all the same it's time for these people to lead by example and show there fellow Muslims that violence is not the answer.

Its one thing to protest by burning a few books and quite another to support and promote mass murder and holy wars which is what these muslim clerics were effectively doing. Looking back at the incident that occurred at the University of Ibadan some six weeks ago where a young lady went evangelizing in a mosque the universal opinion of people commenting on the event was the she was lucky to have done that here had it been further up north she would have been murdered as  well as  any helpless  non-muslims   within  the  location which in itself is telling of the religion and its majority adherents in northern Nigeria as well as the world over.

The west , Christians (in  the  mind of  the  muslims  both  are  one  and  the  same)and indeed much of the world has learnt that speech is just speech. Whether the speech is harmful depends entirely upon the decision of the listener. This is how we can allow free speech and also how we have freed ourselves from authoritarian rule. If muslims are willing to turn to violence over the speech of any foreign crackpot, they will forever live in servitude and be treated like children by whoever is brutal enough to intimidate them. Ignore speech that offends you, and be free
The decision to be offended rests entirely on the listener, no matter how offensive the intention of the speaker(i  personaly  lernt  that   growing  up  with  disagraable  younger  ones otherwise  it  would  have   been  a  fight everyday). That is the sophisticated viewpoint, but then sophisticated civilizations don't flog and stone their women, either they also don’t amputate  poeple  for  steling   even  when  it  is  obviously  to  assuage  hunger  or decapitate people who are accused of defiling books related to their religions ( Jangebe , Gideon Akaluka anyone?).
We may rail rant and rave against Pastor Jones as much as we like (i  personally didnt  think  what  he was  about  to  do  was   right) but the fact remains for any honest individual be him muslim or not is that Pastor Jones by subsequently agreeing to cancel the planned burning of the quran saved the muslim worldwide and islam itself from being uncovered for what they /it really stand for  death and destruction. How ? Just the prospect of the burning had the United States and not a few other governments around the world raising alert levels to Defcon 1 .If the burning had proceeded it goes without saying there would have been serious acts of extreme violence against not just Americans but defenseless Christians all over the globe killings mutilations church burnings and the like. This much was implicit in the protestations and warnings made by the muslim leaders who are referred to as “moderates” who virulently condemned Pastor Jones but did not say a word to dissuade the adherents of islam to refrain from violence indeed words like "retaliation" and "backlash" were bandied about by these moderate leaders. RETALIATION!!!! pray  did  Pastor  Jones  Assult  anybody  in  anyway? huh angry
Had Pastor Jones burnt the quran which was his constitutional right by the way the “ backlash and retaliations “ ensuing would have convinced even the most self deceiving leftist liberalists and politically correct individuals that islam is a “religion of peace” ….well if everyone else is a muslim or dead: go figure .

Do not  talk  about  the  media .A  wide  swath  no  scratch that : 70 % of  the   media  did  their best  and  went  beyond  reasonable  lengths to  ensure his  presidency  and project   what   ever  positive  news  they  could  scrounge   about   him. Many issues concerning  his   background  which  could  have   given  the  voters   pause to  think   were  surprisingly  kept  out  of  the   news and  as  we  all  know  it   is  what   the   media   gives   life   that  becomes   public   discourse and   so   he  became  the  44th.     Not  letting   up   the   media    was   always  decidedly   sided with   him   for   most  if  not  all  of   the   policies and   even  carried out  the  hatchet job for  the would  be/present   administration . Individuals  who  dissented  suddenly found  them selves labeled   anti-Obama  on  a racist  basis and  there is  nothing  more   poisonous  to  public  reputation   than  the   tag  “racist” so  they  beat  it. Fox  news  was  the  only   major  media    to  consistently  call   his  administration  on  issues  relating  to  his   policies  but  that  was  no  skin –pain   for   the   “messiah”. yes ooh  he is already in their cross hairs those faceless blood sucking vipers who call themselves national leaders i imagine  thev got themselves in a sucking feeding frensy with Ribadu for now while dey have soludo tied up waiting for his public/political disembowelment, i pity the man right now he knows they r coming but he cant run  he is too much of a brave man like Ribadu was is .
Let noone be decived both soludo ribadu elrufai ezekesily and the rest of the 'few goodmen' we still have are targets and they know it .its only a matter of how much time it takes them to contrive some fowl smelling depraved  rotten scandal (lie).
For those who think ribadu behaved excessively while in office as the head of the EFCC they need to take a study in the application of power and character.he built a national image character for the agency anfd he did it with all the grit he could muster nigeria had before him had a corruption fighting agency before him  at least ( be honest to ur selves) none that even those thievs in and around power had reasone to fear before now .Obassnjo may have created Efcc to fight his political enemies but he (ribadu)actualised to some extent (be honest now people) the stated objectives of the creation of the agency. For those who  know or care to know J EDGER HOOVER made  todays FBI the feared agency it was today  he stamped his personality on the agency  at sometime he was the FBI and the fbi was him he was zealous about that assignment and as humans we all make mistakes  his were aplenty more like our ribadu from insinuations that he had ties with the Mob  to the fact that he was supposedly a closet homsexual and that he violated civil liberties many things BUT: HE BASICALY MADE THE FBI WE ALL FEAR HATE ADMIRE AND RESPECT (take ur pick).whats my point  here  u dont make omlets with out breaking eggs ,u dont bring life without loosing blood. He couldnt have made the EFCC that is somewhat  RESPECTED and admired internationaly without crossing some greylines .

RomanceRe: When Is A Guy Ready To Marry? by EMANY01(m): 8:54pm On Aug 05, 2008
Quote from steaming
M thankful for this topic though m getting a bit confused.

My boyfriend has a great sense of responsibility. He is someone you could call a family man. The way he treats people and even children, is a wonder to me.

He is ready to get married but the thing is that the money is not there yet. He works hard though but finacially, he is not ready yet to carry on responsibilities.

I have dated him for like 3 years now but then, i wasn't ready for marriage. I was giving him time thinking that by the time i am ready atleast he would have been settled financially. Now i am ready and he still isn't.

When i say financially ready, i don't mean he should own the world, but basics and a steady job or business that he does.  He should to an extent take care of the wife and the children that would come.

He would still make it tho but i musnt have to wait. There is a time to everything, that's what i believe.

RIght now, i want to work out of the relationship because honestly m getting tired of the whole thing.

Crucify me all you want but i need some honest advice. Thanx.

I am tempted to crucify you especially as i find my self in the same positin as the guy u mentioned i remember when my girlfriend  walked  (we dated for three and a half years) it was supposedly for something i did or did not do  but i knew the underlying reason same as the one u r giving i was bitter at first then confused because i KNEW she loved me ,however u sound like u still love him and that should count for something.Try to be a little bit more patient with him as u said there's time 4 everything .Take time out to seriously pray for him with faith the prayers of one that loves u works wonders. Reassure him boost his confidience (when a guy cant get through 4 so long it sort of affects his confidience in life and sort of follows him evrywhere). If u know you r dating a guy who  loves you,is reasonable and is commited to you just think when he makes it through where he would place you.MEN  r not stupid for me you will be most tresured i wouldnt want to live with out you 4 any reason .

@ topic

when he is financially stable
when he is emotionally matures to handle the everyday complexities and challenges that marriage WILL bring,
when he is convinced to his rational self that he has met the RIGHT woman  for him (not just his emotions:they just blind you until the wedding is over)
