"BOTH SIDES" of  this  long standing (10 years going on eleven) clearly have commited grevious crimes against humanity in IVORY COAST i believe that it's More the case in the North because there has been no media presence there(whether intended or not is not my brief here).
Enthroning Ouattarra by the international community will only dampn the civil war for now southern ivorieans will resent the UN & the international community for imposing a "foriener" on them .
Where i come from with such ethnic dynamic at play a much more bloddy relapse into ethnic civil war is INEVITABLE.
It just requires a number of southern bussinesmen /elite funding an uprising.
If you asked me the two and their associates(they have been obvious for ten years and so are well known) should be barred from the political scene for ethernity if need be.Between Gbabgo and Quatarra are the blood of hundreds of thousands they have no
right to seek to lead Ivorycoast.

Chief if what happened today turns out to be an act of sabotage, the only party that stands to gain if the election should go ahead on Monday is PDP. If Jega wants to make the field a level playing ground, then he needs to move it to a date the major parties all agree upon.

BTW, PDP dose not need to go to the bank to have access to fund which they surely must have stashed at home for the elections. Bros, I'm speaking from experience. In fact some bank Manager would even open their vaults for the government in power to make withdrawals on weekends. The opposition party are not in the position currently to wield such influence.

I stopped by a lowly mama-put on my way home today.i usually wont be caught dead there but the place looked decently clean and while eating caught part of the program on air.it appears Buhari et al squandered the opportunity to sell themselves on the same podium as the man they seek to replace.the people at the buka generally southerners (i think) seemed to be AWED by the  simple demeanour and background presented by GEJ he looked to them like one of them (the son of a neighbour down the street who became president they emphatise with him:if you claim u dont know that feeling then you are in denial) of course its no help to Buhari that his name has been in the political space for too long with no achievement.PDP might just win this election and not have to rig it at all.

You would think Buhari has learnt his lesson about selling himself to Nigerians at large, not northerners not muslims but all Nigerians.Lest he gets carried away he is still viewd with suspiction. His selection of Bakare as a running mate put a cloak of the benefit of doubt on him unfortunately it seems the same Bakare will soon unmake the Man with his inordinately loud mouth calling pdp haram in no less a place than Borno state calling Tinubu the

Foreign AffairsRe: Japan Was S.TUPID And Greedy To Build Nuclear Reactors. by EMANY01(m): 5:00am On Mar 20, 2011
@ OP
This view point on wisdom of Japan utilizing nuclear energy the nuclear industry in the wake of an accident, fails epically.

Fine, you don't want nuclear. So what do you want? Wind, solar, and other renewable sources of energy only make up a few percent of the total energy sources of electricity not to mention it usually is an exaggerated cost in terms of space and finance to produce anything akin to 1/100 power output of what a standard nuclear plant would produce( a typical solar power plant array/wind power plant arrays if you can find any, producing up to 300MWaats would cover a landmass the equivalent of the city of Port-Harcourt i challenge you to bring info disproving this and remember that Japan does not have the space) . And maybe the people that work at nuclear plants, coal plants, and natural gas plants wouldn't like to have their tax yen go to subsidies aimed at putting their employers out of business. How many more employees of those industries do you suppose there are granted that any one of those industries provides at least 20 times the proportion of electricity as the precious renewable sources?

Nuclear  power  in  the  US makes up about only 20% of the energy production for electricity, but about 70% of carbon-free electricity production. No other alternative source, not natural gas, not solar, not geothermal, not solar, not even bio-fuel can generate as much electricity as nuclear can while continuing to be carbon-free. If you're willing, in the wake of Japan's crisis, to risk the global warming hypothesis, then fine, invest in more fossil fuel energy sources like coal--clean and unclean, natural gas, and oil drilling. But don't whine about the dangers of what we use today (yes, I said whine) without offering meaningful solutions or alternative pathways to energy sustainability. Every potential energy source comes with its pitfalls. That happens as a result of the high demand for electricity.

If you don't have a solution--and renewable sources like solar, wind and geothermal are not solutions; they're dreams because they're too unreliable as they depend too much on the elements--then maybe you should shut your mouth and quit hindering those of us who've actually worked to provide the electricity needed to power your desktop, the servers of your favorite websites where you leave disparaging comments. Otherwise, one day there'll be no power source for the lights in your house, the heart monitoring equipment in the ER at your local hospital, or the oxygen machine(s) at the nearest nursing home for the elderly.

PoliticsRe: There Will Be Wild, Wild North If Pdp Rigs —bakare by EMANY01(m): 4:24am On Mar 16, 2011
I am sure people are taking note of the fact that Buhari and now Bakare have exclusively devoted half their campain energy to making treats about making the North ungovernable if they dont win even the ACN which i despise haven't gone that far.Buhari and Bakare are conditioning their people for violence amd everybody seems to NOT want to notice.
As someone who grew up in the north (Kano to be specific) and having survived the mei tasine riot wit my mum as a kid,the Reinhard Bonke riots on my first day of high school and numerous others(iv lost count) i make bold a prophesy that should Buhari lose this election as he most probably will, he will let lose the wild elements that Bakare was talking about and the victims will again be southerners(not igbo's or Yoruba's or urohbo's or calabar's but southerners). Another occurrence of the endless orgy of murderous violence directed at southerners will be laid at his door step .To think that their grievance will be that a southerner won an election.
PoliticsRe: 'i Am Now Ready For Debate!'- Jonathan by EMANY01(m): 3:19am On Mar 16, 2011
I guess they (the G/s cam Org) are following the American election politics maxim about debates between incumbents and challengers that says: "Your challenger is like a hunter after a big game frustrate him (legally)at every turn/opportunity, where possible trot out smaller game(send an aide or representative) but most of all when you engage IT MUST BE AT A PLACE OF YOUR OWN TIME AND CHOOSING "
The result most of the time is that the Challenger has the most unnatural release when you finally engage.
Trust me WHEN IT WORKS,its a sight to behold.Kind of like what happens when a girl (sorry ladies) you've hopelessly expended so much energy and resources to seduce finally says OK.You climax before you even got started.

I love it  just  as  a number  of  discerning  people suspected .What  they  fail  to  realize  is  that   should  they   try  that Jonathan  will win  hands  down  and   much as  i  do  not    like    the   ACN (i am not  a   pdp  hog  by  the  way) Ribadu  pulling  out  shortly  before  the  contest   will  consign   him  to   political  oblivion as  well as   ensure   that   those  voters  the party  has   cultivated  and   aroused  in  the   south west   will  simply reject him(since   hes pulled  out   already  and   Buhari  at  the   polls. My  point  is    the southern voters   have    been  encouraged    to  not   view   their  choices   at  this   election   through   primordial  ethnic/sentimental  lenses Ribadu pulling  out   at  any  time   before  the  race    for   Buhari's benefit will be  counter productive.Southern  voters even  those  in  the  west will see  this   as   the   strategy  of  the    north   to   regain  power and    the  manner  in  which   the   would   have    done  this   will make them  even more suspicious  of  Buhari they  will  simply  revert  to   sentiments  and  vote  a candidate  from  the  south who  has  a  chance   of   winning.

You need to consider the possibilty that only this news paper was involved so the confirmation you seek from some other newspaper may never come. That said any journalist worth his salt knows to ensure he can produce a transcript of any interview done (journalism 101 :yes, even in Nigeria) should the occaion demand it :it speaks to competence and integrity that is to say there is a tape of the interview somewhere. Bakare being halfway intelligient would know this so i am not holding my breath waitin for him to deny.Heck id like to see him try though.

EducationRe: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by EMANY01(m): 5:56pm On Mar 13, 2011
@ Dis Guy
Thanks for answering my poser.I had been worried about that issue for a while. You have no idea what a boost that is for me.I am not about to ask any one to treat me as an egbon in anycase,am actually in my late 20's but i just had to round up significantly.
To aid my self study,as i had mentioned earlier, i make extensive use of mit-ocw and lots of google time but its not easy internet browsing in Nigeria is cool for small stuff but it's for shit if you want to do video and other bandwidth intensive applications.
What am i saying:yes infrastructure is none existent, yes knowledge materials are out dated and inadequate, yes lecturers are hardly competent to teach so one basically has educate himself coupled with their(lecturas) pecadilloes BUT because we surmounted these challenges we should not take it to mean we did the most work and others who studied without the deficiencies we made do with had it easy.
EducationRe: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by EMANY01(m): 11:43pm On Mar 12, 2011
kaymd:
Fact of the matter is, if we are talking about quality of education, especially at the tertiary level and beyond, 9ja should not be mentioned in the same paragraph or even the same page as the first world western countries. Guys let's be frank, the difference in the quality of education is, for all practical purposes, like the difference between heaven and earth; particularly when it comes to science and tech based courses. Our science based courses here are a joke in all honesty. All we do is pass exams, education in these disciplines has essentially missed its purpose in 9ja. Afterall, graduates just get employed in banks and other FIs, a few O&G companies, and telecoms - that is the aspiration of many undergrads, forget about acquisition of knowledge for application in real life, that one is story.

I think when people state that studying abroad is easier, they are 'silently' referring to the subconscious inner conflict the average nigerian student continually experiences throughout his studying years, at least until he becomes fully disillusioned with the system. My point is, what appears stressful is analogous to the difference between playing football for 30 mins and walking to your boring job for 10 mins. Even though playing ball for 30 mins actually expends far more energy, you'll agree that you simply don't feel 'stressed' compared to a 10 minute walk to a job you detest that really isn't so physically tasking. I think stress (in this context) mainly originates from the inside; it is the state of mind of the nigerian student that is stressed out, not actually the volume of work because, detail for detail, we simply cannot compare with the sheer volume and quality of work obtainable in academia abroad.

Imagine engineering students that have absolutely no idea of the physical appearance of several machines which they routinely solve examination problems on; when you dont fully understand the solution to a problem, then just master the pattern of steps to solving it, because even the lecturer doesn't understand it too, and he doesn't even care. But a guy has to pass his exams and graduate with good grades, fully grasping the subject matter is immaterial, its not like you are going to apply it to your 'office' job anyway. Continous exposure to this kind of schooling has a wearying effect on the students, because it simply conflicts with a human being's in-born urge and desire to truly understand phenomena and apply the knowledge to his real life.

So in short, the students are perpetually stressed and frustrated, and they now declare that studying abroad is easier.

It isn't easier, it's only REAL study, not this facade that we call study here in 9ja.

If you have the opportunity, don't hesitate to grab the chance to study abroad with both hands (and both feet too), you absolutely will be better off a thousand times over.

I can't shout  cool

Never  having  schooled   abroad  I   could   never  tell which  is    harder    though I  would  imagine  that   regardless  of   the  "stress' that  we  passed  through   here it   could  never   be   as   hard  as  it  is   there. Scary because just when you think they have convinced THEMSELVES that their opposition is rooted in logic, their emotions errupt in the most unlikely situations/discussions to betray the lie they have been living.
Scary because should GEJ actualy win this election, they might harm themselves.
Pray tell :what is wrong with GEJ stating that his ambition is not worth the loss of any life and him publicly comming out to tell whosoever it might consern that nobody should be killed on his account in any situation and that every vote cast must count and that the people should defend their vote?!!!

What he does not realize is that these people and their associates hear him chanting PDP haram they will begin to allign with the notion that Buharis following is largely in the north only and mostly among hooligans and marauders that have been responsible for the Boko Haram incidents / problems the good Pastor going there and chanting haram haram will only demonstrate how he had to ingratiate himself with these people and ignoring the deeper meaning inport of the word haram in a place like Borno of all places. It show him pandering to these people even when he is the BEAUTIFUL BRIDE who is supposed to give the Buhari campaign a semblance of national accecptability so when (assuming ) Buhari wins what clout would he assert to keep the administration from turning to a regional and specific faith based one? None what so ever knowing that in Nigeria vice-presidents/governors are good for getting the votes ,reciving important visitors and photo -ops and nothing else.Knowing Buhari"s proclivity to surround him self with functionaries from his zone exclusively and pay luke warm attention (at best to) the physical developement in the south while loop siding developments in favor of the north specifically the north-west (the PTF administrative staff and project distribution records are there for anyone who disputes this )

When the news first broke of the protests in Lybia I shuddered because
I knew it would be a bloody affair making the hundred or so that died in Egypt  childs play. While not taking anything away from the tunisians and the Egyptians they had it easy.Plese let me explain: The leaders in those countries had their health in teneous situations. Ben Ali`s health was failing and is under intence medical care same goes for Mubarak who in any case planned to leave by august only snag was he had planned to install his son which brought tension between him and the Elites(Military and Civillian) they had no problems with him handing over to anyone of his. Choice but not his son.Considering this and the fact that the West(yes that devilish evil entity conspiracy theorists love to hate responsible for everything wrong even my pot of stew that went bad cos power was unavailable ) was unhappy with. The level of violence the the Egyptian Gorvernment initialy employed he (Mubarack figured. What the heck might as well go and rest now.Its notewordy he didn't flee to Saudi .Coming back to Lybia if they really want to get Gaddafi out the better be ready for a bloddy resistance a whole lot more of them are going to die and even at that they still might not get him out.Gaddafi wount play by any rules of moderate behaviour mind you he had the foresite to ban most communications (internet) and news coverage of the protests so his hands are not in anyway constrained and since he is
Considered a “Mad dog” by the west they have no “influence” on him

I v been adviced to start up with CompTIA Linux+ training and certification which takes about seven weeks with some of the training centers in lag.im considering starting this weekend.i was told that training in a structured manner helps me avoid knowledge gaps that could occur if i self-studied specially as time is of the essence.
I just wanted to know if there was any truth/logic to the sentiment above?
Common people pls help a newbie find his feet.i ll take the time to walk myself.

I advice you not to bother yourself if you register again you run the risk of automatically excluding yourself (depending on the level of punitive sanctions to be applied) from the entire voters list when data fusion is completed.
On the other hand depending on the proximity or lack of it, with the current registration you will at most be unable to vote at the L G elections ,the state house of assenbly elections and the federal legislative seats. You are still good for the governorship and presidencial though.
