PoliticsRe: Obj Is Bad Yes, But He's Still Nigeria's Best Ever President. No Contest by emekagh(m): 12:42am On May 25, 2010
AkoEja:
OBJ seems to be the only Nigerian president that did something positive, not comparable to that Gooro-chewing gap-toothed monster. I was hoping Yaradua would have done soemthing too, but he was too ill to govern properly.
Yar Adua's failure was the result of the wickedness, and darkness of heart of Obj. He set him up to fail. Young energetic focus men with proven tracked record like Donald Duke, and others were in PDP, but the evil Obj wanted someone, a puppet, without the desire or capacity to rule Nigeria hence - Yar Adua.

Even at that, the sickly Yar Adua was able provide a formula to solve the Niger Delta problem. Something Obj was unable to do because he just wanted to be able to import fuel. Was it not Obj who spent billions of dollars buying weapons to kill the Niger Delta people? But here we have pple trying to tell us that this wicked, evil, and vindictive man had good reform? Tell that to the communities he razed, tell that to their families. Good policy my foot. God will punish Obj and his cronies.

you havent said anything that we dont know of his regime but ibb has done more harm to this country than obasanjo.go and find out how the consequence of ibb SAP dragged us to this sorry state and stop being hypocritic
I think you are the hypocrite here. IBB this, IBB that. Obj is the bigger thief for all I care, and even most pple. IBB SAP was what was in vogue then. Many countries subjected themselves to the IMF and SAP, even till today. As we speak Greece is already facing SAP. The greatest crime of IBB was the annulment of June 12, and of course the mismanagement or outright stealing of the $12 Billion oil windfall. But these are drops in the ocean compared to the $16 Billion Obj stole in power project, the money he made allocating oil contracts to his daughter and cronies minister of petroleum, and all other schemes he initiated to en stool corruption. Obj robbed Nigeria blind. He is a disgrace to the good people of yoruba. His do-and-die, shambolic election where ballot boxes are snatched in the full glare of new-screws is a reflections of shamelessness, corruption that was Obj.

Those of you who are here to re-write history and put him in better light are wasting your time. Given the rare opportunity he had, and the goodwill he was given, Obj remained the worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria presidency. He dragged Nigeria further back than did the men in green. Nigeria would have been better off, if he was left to rot in jail for the Abacha era coup plot (real or imaginary). Obj was a very wicked, evil, and extremely corrupt leader. The worst to bestrode Nigeria in far and modern history. God will punish him and his cronies.
PoliticsRe: Obj Is Bad Yes, But He's Still Nigeria's Best Ever President. No Contest by emekagh(m): 10:26pm On May 24, 2010
Obj in ten simple highlight

1. He came to power through one of the worst election ever in Nigeria
2. Then he organized and supervised the worst election election ever in Nigeria, making us an sore in the eyes of international community
3. He defrauded us using his power in NNPC as President and Petroleum Minister at the same time.
4. He grabbed choice thousands of hectares of lands all over the country as farms
5. He stole from us to build a school and a library, and to buy Transcorps shares.
6. He robbed us blind (some say $16 Billion!) in the name of NIPP (another of his phantom projects). Power stations are built within 4 years, yet in eights years of his misrule, there is nothing to show for it (as a matter of fact power supply dropped drastically). He commissioned multiple phantom projects. Power stations, and second Niger bridge are examples
7. He enthroned corruption like never before, using the EFCC only as a masquerade of his phantom fight against corruption
8. He tried endlessly to create chaos and state of emergency in Anambra (in the Ngige, and Uba saga), in his attempt to remove a sitting governor
9. Then he foolishly thought he deserved a third term after his vision-less rule.
10. When Nigeria rejected him, he committed one of his greatest atrocity, which incidentally led to the death of a good man, - he foisted a sick man (Yar Adua) as his last act of wickedness on a great and dynamic country (instead of advising the man to go and take care of his health).

In a good society, Obj is suppose to rot in jail. But here sick minded praise singers are worshiping him like their god. He is as evil as they come. The few years of Yar Adua presidency and the few months or Jonathan presidency are much better that all the donkey years of the hypocrite Obj. The thieving IBB, and the fundamentalist Buhari are much better president than the thief and hypocrite call Obj.

In a theoretical two party system with Obj and IBB as the only candidate, I will willing cast my vote for IBB (the thief) rather than Obj (the bigger thief, and shameless, two-faced, lying old man). Obj is the worst thing that ever happened to Nigeria in contemporary era. God will punish him and his cronies!

My two kobo!
PoliticsRe: Obj Seen Writing NOUN exam! by emekagh(m): 8:13am On Apr 28, 2010
Obj, best president? Yea, because we never really had a good president. In the land of the blind,

This is that man that -
1. Amassed wealth in the name of library
2. Amassed wealth from power project
3. Disregard the constitution when it is not favorable to him
4. Haunted political opponents in the name of anti - corruption
5. Unforgiving, and very vindictive
6. Attempted to perpetuate himself in power
7. When he failed woefully, foisted the sickly Yar Adua on on vibrant nation, in the most corrupt election ever in Nigeria
8. Sold the Bakassi people to Cameroon
9. Enrish himself in the murky and oil waters of the petroluem industry as ministers

Now we compare him to whom and say he is the best. Obj and his likes belongs to the prison, in any forward looking society, not this sycophantic praise because of his perceived humor. Obj, best my foot!

TravelRe: Is Ghana A Good Place To Start Up Life? by emekagh(m): 1:35am On Apr 27, 2010
I live and work in Ghana presently. I can tell you there is no much difference in the two worlds. Except of course Lagos, Abuja, P/H and other cities in Naija, churn out bigger and better opportunities than Ghana. And again, by Ghana you are referring to Accra. Accra is the most developed part of Ghana, and that is where 80% of the businesses are. Here are some of the things that might interest you:

Accommodation
Accommodation in accra (like every other place in the world) is relative to location. A two bedroom apartment in East Legon may cost you 200 - 350 ghana cedi monthly (around 21 - 36K montly) if you are lucky. If you are unlucky, the price may be quoted in dollars starting from 200 - 350.). You can get a self-contain aka hall and chamber (in ghana) from 120 cedi to 200 cedi. Face-me-I-slap-you (lol) sort accommodation are not very common (perhaps I haven't searched yet). But nevertheless, you can get ghetto style accommodation for like 30 - 50 cedi (N3000 - N5000) if you are connected.

Transport
Transport by bus is cheap. (In comparative cost, a journey from Ojota to Oshodi by bus in ghana will cost around 50 pesewa (N60). But you wont have the luxury (or discomfort if you may) of Okada (for short distance). So either you walk or take a taxi (2 cedis for short trip). That would be N210 or thereabout. The road network are also good and well maintained.

Food:
Same applied to Naija. But their eateries appear cheaper. 6 - 8 ghana cedi (N600 - N800) will buy you a decent meal in most restaurant. Should you prefer to cook your meal, you will be surprised to find that gas is very cheap here. Kerosene stoves are relatively unknown. Rice, beans, yam, garri, plantain, corn etc are readily available. If you are 'food-venturous', kenkey, fufu, banku, wakye are other options. I am not food-venturous.

People and Culture:
The people are generally nice. But the hostility towards Nigerians is not a mirage. It's a clear and present danger. I hope and pray a South African style of Xenophobia does not erupt. It's a little difficult to get accommodation in ghana if you are a Nigerian. You generally will be given that 'look' of skepticism. A trader once refused to entertain inquiry on availability of goods simply because of my Nigerian accent. Anyway, I took my money to another willing one. Nevertheless, if you are doing genuine business, and have not skeleton in your closet, rest assured you are covered. You will not be harassed or harangued unnecessary. Stand firm!

Security:
Security is a function of number of poor, jobless and homeless individual around a particular place. Accra is not overcrowded (not yet) hence general safe. But safety demands you should not be some particular place at some time - Tema station, Tudu, Nima, Ashiama, are place to generally avoid once your time start ticking 8, 9 pm. Again, burglary is fast becoming a fad in ghana. I have heard plenty of stories about that. I personally have been burgled once. Armed robbery is not rampant, or perhaps because the police dealt severally with many of them last year - killing plenty robber in many shoot-outs. They might be hibernating, or mostly changed profession to something less sinister.

Police:
The police are generally courteous, and well behave. They dress neatly and appear better equipped. But don't be fooled by appearance, they love money, tips or bribes. A colleague of mine (Nigerian) was burgled  (for the second time). He went to report police. They made him him part with money while he was filing his complaints. The burglar who also stole his ATM card and attempted to obtain money from an ATM. Naturally the machines seized the card after the third attempt. He was able to obtain a picture of the guy from the bank's ATM camera. On presentation of such hard evidence to the police, they still asked him for a tip! He flared up!

Job/Employment:
To get a good job, you will first clear the hurdle of resident and work permit. I know someone who has been trying to obtain one for over six months. Mine was done by the company I work with.  The Ghanaian economy is not as deep as that of Nigeria. If you want to hustle, hustling in Naija is more profitable. The oil discovery in Ghana may be a game changer, but as at now, the game has not changed.

Finally,
Ghana is not better than Naija and vice versa. The most important difference between Accra and Lagos is power supply. If power is your biggest need, then you may relocate, but if opportunities is what you seek - Naija is the place! I love Naija, and miss home seriously. If a good job offer in Naija I be home before you could say Accra - Ghana. A good paying job in IT Auditing as a CISA is my next stop. Any offer?

WARNING:
Don't come to Accra empty handed, they city is not friendly to poor man.

Murder At Dawn

http://extramantra..com/2010/03/poem-murder-at-dawn.html

Night marauders of Jos
Fulani herdsmen they are

Masked in pitch darkness
As black as their souls
Cloaked in bitterness
And volcanic anger, like Mount Vesuvius
With machetes, cutlass, and guns
On the Plateau they descend
Before the first crow of the cock

Blood thirsty men versus sucklings,
Nursing mothers and elderly
Pitted against rampaging Fulani herdsmen
Their squeaky cries of anguish met with
Shrill battle cries

Babies and toddlers
They weaned from mothers’ bosoms
Their innocent gaze met with deadly mien
Their tender flesh, they pierced
With jagged blades
Death they sold
To terrified, and fleeing victims

Mothers and babes
Now august visitors
Of their generous maker
As we approach the ides of March

Night marauders of Jos
Fulani herdsmen they are
They gorged their bellies full
With the blood of babies
And tears of the town
Back into the dark they slipped
To revel and chant, perhaps
Under the shades, prepared by their patrons
Patting one another
On the back, with blood soiled palms
For their dastard deeds

Night marauders of Jos
Humans they were
Demons they are
Accursed are they!

http://extramantra..com/2009/09/poem-unlucky-in-love.html

UNLUCKY IN LOVE

Youthful, graceful
Innocent

With her being
Wholly, unreserved
Body and soul
She loved
Withholding neither
Charity,
Nor hope

He relished
The bequeathed
Consume the heart
Then,
Like a true villain
Dashed
Her trust
Her hope

Randy him,
Devouring that which
She offered
Yet pilfering the forbidden
Ravishing
The best of
Her friends, sister
And more
Leaving her
Stranded

A love story,
Of yet another
Broken heart
Horrible in details

Let me add my voice to the growing voices asking that Amodu should not be sacked. The reasons are not far fetched:

1. Amodu with $180,000 annual salary did better that Berti Goats Vogts paid in excess of millions of dollars

2. Amodu qualified Nigeria for 2002 world, only to be sack for coming third in the nations cup of that year. His replacement failed to win a single match at the world cup in 2002. We expect so much but personally a lot of us deliver even so little

3. Amodu is not good, Amodu is not good, yet he did better that the highly rated Ivorians, Cameroon, Mali, and co

4. Amodu win ratio is higher than even Morinho. who played 3 draws, won 2, and lost 1 to get to the second knock-out stage of the Champions league. Yet the latter is branded a 'genius' and the former branded 'inept'.

5. When it happened that Keshi qualified Togo for world cup and was sacked, we all scream blue murder, yet some want the same thing to happen to Amodu, not once but twice. Not fair is a understatement - a labourer deserves his wages. (Both Amodu and Keshi are good enough to represent Nigeria, nay Africa at the world greatest football mundal.

6. I could go on, but  the final point is that Amodu is Nigerian, a full bloodied black man who is trying to rise above the fray, let us for once support and encourage our own. PHD (Pull Him Down) and crab mentality is killing us.

Support your own, support Amodu, buy Nigeria!!

Last time I checked, she unlike those two, isn't running a bank. Perhaps you should have said: ask Okonjo Iweala (who left and got a world bank appointment) or Mrs Ezekwesili (who now works with UN if I'm not mistaken). That is the class Akunyili belongs. Defending government policies, and spearheading re-branding are difficult and thankless tasks. Ask Nairalanders if in doubt.

We're tired of these P.E teachers thinking they're coaching Qatar when we appoint them.
This is not the colonial mentality, it's the 'gimme a good manager' mentality.

Why Hiddink??

1. He really wants to take a team to the World Cup right now.
2. He's built teams so many teams from scratch, South Korea had never won a WC match before he came.
3. He proved he could save a lost cause with Chelsea.
4. He's a genius.
5. He is a giant killer.
6. He's known for dealing with over-bloated egos. (Davids in Euros)
7. He's won trophies.
But he FAILED to qualify Russia for world cup? Something Amodu can boast of. Please, no thanks. We should stick to Amodu or as someone suggested replace him with another local coach like Siasia, Kechi, and by perhap Okocha and Kanu wink
