PoliticsRe: Aregbesola And The Bastardisation Of The Education Of Osun State by emiye(m): 12:35pm On Feb 08, 2016
The problem of waec performance is half way solved in my opinion, the state govt has closed up the gap in the physical structures , the remaining half is in the human resources and policy. The state govt has now decided to stop payment of wassce fees for students, except they can passs the newly introduced mock exams. you can see the kind of protests against the policy by the students who destroyed amenities in a radio station, they are most likely enervated by some political actors in background; can those sort of students pass wassce exam? The teachers are at record low morale, which the effect is reflecting on the students, while the state govt can improve teacher's morale in very few months , it will take years to improve physical structures . I also feel maths and english teachers should be specially singled out for tailored training,

1- What is subsidy in the first place?
2- I think we shouldn't even be talking about subsidy in this country! We have crude oil, we exporting and we importing! Why can't we be using our crude oil to trade for the refined one? Why are we paying for importing and why is it that the importing price is higher than the exporting price, please elaborate?

3- No crude oil in South Africa and yet they paying less than Nigeria that have crude oil. A litre of PMS in South Africa is 90cent which is N14.80 in Nigeria currency... Are they not paying for subsidy in South Africa? What is called subsidy please?

#I believe subsidy is a scam.

#To the PDP fans; the likes of Barcanista, Temitemi, Mogidi and the likes, people that are replying those guyz don't have time too. If at all you guyz have something to do, you wouldn't be on Nairaland every minutes and seconds all day. I think Barcanista and the likes are just extraordinary fool because, they reasons upside down and they only want bad for this country. Since they don't have anything to do, they tends to sit with their phones and be posting rubbish all day. #IdleHand
90cents is not N14.80 oooo

90 cents in nigerian currency is like N170.

I just saw where NNPC reported , Nigerians consume average of 30 million litres of petrol /day , 12 mil. litres of diesel /day, 8mill, litres of Kerosene/day, 2 million litres of jet fuel/day. So, what i can infer is that to stop importation, we will need to guarantee local production of roughly 45 million litres of petrol daily.... , but the current production at 40% of the total capacity of refineries (445k barrels) will give 14.5 million litres.

Question

Answer

Nigeria can no longer afford to pay subsidy on petroleum products full stop. Corruption or no corruption we do not have the money to pay. You have to let it sink in your head. We have an infrastructural decay that will take 200 billion dollars to fix, you have annual 'deficit' budget of less than 20 billion dollars of which 40 percent is used to fund lazy states and you want to continue to spend 25% of your the remaining budget to subsidize PMS?

Hope the anology below helps

You are the head of your house, and you have an annual budget of 100 naira. Rent in a dilapidated house is 20 Naira. School fees is 20 Naira. Transportation to work and school is 30 Naira. Fueling your generator is 30 Naira. Let say you want to start up a new business to increase your income and as such you need to save 20 Naira. You also need to move from your present apartment because the ceiling leaks water any time it rains, which will require you save an extra 10 Naira. You took a loan from the bank, and the monthly deduction is 10 Naira. You have relations that cannot run their family and they have come asking for money because the landlord is about to evict them from the house. In the middle of all these, Something happened and your annual budget is reduced to 50 Naira. Will you keep paying for fuel to light up your house while you cannot pay rent and your kids can not go to school?

Before you critic always put yourself in a leadership position and provide practical solution

Oga, what do you think is the average volume of petrol consumed by Nigerians daily?

We have a 445,000 barrels/day refineries, if the refineries have a 40% performance, that is like 175,000barrels /day.

What volume of Petrol , diesel, kerosene/jet fuel , will a 175,000 barrels/day produce daily?

I have other questions ? if you answer these ones, maybe i can proceed.

Anyone who can help to provide answers is appreciated.

I dont know if you live in the country or not but I'm sure you can see and hear well. If the government can't tell the private investors what they should do to improve the cost of living of the masses , something is wrong with that government.

I'm not happy with the program simply because we still have more people out there finding it hard to eat just once. You mention that people like me would make billions or million from the project, how?

No offense but you just didnt make sense with any of that post. Because if we cant even afford to live in the mega city , whats the purpose of building it ? Banana island for example how many people can afford to live there?

Instead of trying to force a city out of the water front, they can build low cost housing estates in developing areas.

No hard feelings, it's just my own view and opinion.
Private sectors are in for profit while delivering service/product.

What is your definition of low cost housing estates? What kind of houses and at what cost? Can a man who cant afford to "eat just once" afford it ?

Saorchy:
As we countdown to May 29, 2015, when the Goodluck Jonathan administration will vacate the seat of power, it is not all gloomy as there are outstanding men and women in the administration that used the instruments of their office to better the life of the common man on the street.

Naij.com has compiled 5 of these outstanding individuals that Nigerians won’t forget in a hurry.
Read below:

1. Professor Chinedu Nebo: The former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka has indeed been outstanding. The Minister of Power have overseen a tedious privatisation process of the power sector devoid of rancour as was the case in the past. He has also been consistent with his regular briefing of the media and Nigerians in order to keep everyone up-to-date on the progress in the sector. Though not much have been achieved yet, Nigerians will no doubt start to see the manifestation of his handiwork in the nearest future, provided the incoming Buhari administration continues from where he stopped and make corrections where he made mistakes.

2. Dr. Omobola Johnson: It is not really a surprise that she has performed well. Not your typical politician, Johnson left her position as the Country Manager of Accenture to take assume the role of Nigeria’s Minister of Communications. Her sterling performance and revolutionary policies are visible for all to see. She has also focused heavily on empowering young girls in Information Communication Technology and it has paid off immensely.

3. Ambassador Aminu Wali: The Kano-born former Nigerian Ambassador to China has brought to bear his diplomatic experience at the foreign ministry. A perfect gentleman, his robust foreign policies have seen Nigeria, for the first time, stand up to ungrateful countries like South-Africa, United Arab Emirates and some Asian countries. Wali has done a good job in standing for the rights of Nigerians abroad although much still needs to be done in this direction. But he has started on a right note, and it is expected that whoever fills his big shoes in the Buhari administration, will continue from where he stopped.

4. Osita Chidoka: Chidoka’s short stint in the Ministry of Aviation has proven that saying that says “It is not how far, but how well”. The former head of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) hit the ground running immediately he assumed office. In an industry that has been under consistent crisis, Chidoka became a rallying point for all the stakeholders in the industry mostly because of the professional way he handled issues pertaining the industry. He has worked tirelessly to improve on the safety standards of the industry and has carried on working despite Jonathan’s loss at the polls. Nigeria definitely need men like Chidoka in public service.

5. Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina: This list would not be complete without the name of Dr. Adeshina. It is not for nothing that he is currently one of the leading contenders for the role of the president of Africa Development Bank (ADB). Adeshina’s revolutionary achievements in the agricultural sector has opened up opportunities in the sector that was hitherto comatose and begging for attention. From the availability of fertilizers to the ordinary farmers, to the loans available to them and the investment flowing into the sector, Akinwunmi is no doubt the most outstanding Minister under Jonathan and he should be proud of himself. One can only wish him luck in his aspiration to lead the ADB.

The moment i saw chinedu Nebo, Minister of power, i thought it was sarcasm.
All i see chinedu does on tv is to moan and whine about vandals and speak tall tales, at a time i begin to wonder if he acquired his degree in moaning /whining engineering. If Vandals keep breaking pipelines, and you do is to repair over and over again and moan, something is wrong with you. Thinking out of the box is not his strength

Only a fool will be fixated about the strength and opportunities of an idea without looking at the weakness and threats or be under the illusion there are none. When you have assessed the negativities of an idea, you plan for mitigation.

Jonathan was under enormous pressure, much of it from the outside world, even wen some of his sycophants were threatening he will hand over to the military . The external world will react differently to a case of Nigeria with 200 million population than a tiny Burundi. My point is that without these internal and external pressures and alarm on him pre election, the story would have been different.

Story!

Poverty is no excuse.

Akwa Ibom is not owing their workers. It is only Cross River that is owing.

And for your info all ND states have since adopted federal wage rates.

Osun state workers earn less than their counterparts in Cross River.

And if there is any state that has it worse as per reduced allocations it is Cross River which is no longer an oil producing state since losing oil wells to Akwa Ibom and Bakassi to Cameroun but you don't hear their state governor lamenting.

Useless osogbo fool
Keep shut u ediiot !.

It emerged on Friday, May 22, 2015, that 18 out of 36 states of the federation would begin an indefinite strike on Monday, May 25, 2015, over unpaid salaries and pensions.
The states involved are Abia, Akwa Ibom , Bauchi, Benue, Cross River, Ekiti, Imo, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers and Zamfara.
The General Secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, who gave the hint said the congress had sent its task force team to the states to enforce the strike.
“The various Task Forces are working. Plateau is on strike, Cross Rivers is going on Monday; the various task forces are working. A team is leaving for Benue to commence action; they are now free to commence action and we are supporting them,” he said.
He said Abia State had not paid salaries of workers of the State Teaching Hospital for nine months; owing workers of the Hospital Management Board eight months’ salary; Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, six months; Abia State Polytechnic, five months; local government workers, four months; and teachers, three months’ salary arrears.
Furthermore, he said though Enugu State had paid salaries of civil servants up to date, parastatals were owed 12 months’ salaries and pension and gratuity remained unpaid since 2010.
Other states owing salaries are Osun State with six months’ salary and pension arrears; Plateau with six months salaries and seven months pension arrears; Benue with five months salaries and four months pension arrears; Kogi with four months of pension and salary arrears; and Oyo which owes three months salaries and between five and 11 months of pension arrears, he said.
“Jigawa owes judiciary workers a month salary arrears in 2015; Ondo one month salary and pension arrears, while Ogun owes one month salary and 52 months of unremitted pension deductions to the Pension Fund Administration.
“Although Zamfara State has paid workers’ salaries up to date, the salaries of workers who were recruited in 2014 have not been paid,” he stated.
The NLC also stated that Rivers State owes one month of workers’ salaries and three months of pension while Kano has yet to pay newly employed teachers for three months.
Meanwhile, a senior civil servant in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Mr. Ojo Owolabi, has attempted to end his life over his inability to feed his family due to the failure of the state government to pay salaries.
Civil servants in the state have not been paid their salaries in the past six months, it was learnt.
Owolabi was reported to have attempted to take his life by drinking a large quantity of insecticide at his residence last Saturday.
Owolabi, a sanitary officer at the council, was rushed to the hospital and was receiving treatment.
Sources said he became frustrated as a result of his inability to meet his family’s needs.
“Baba Ibeji drank herbicide. He was frustrated because he has been unable to feed himself and other members of his family. You are aware that the state government has not paid workers for some months now. I think he just lost hope and decided to take his life by drinking Gramoxone,” the source said.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Mr. David Owoeye, who confirmed the incident said: “We don’t want to make it public so that it will not embarrass the family.”
A factional Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Gambi Yusuf, said that unpaid salaries had caused workers untold hardship.
“Anybody who is not paid for six months is a walking corpse. What do you expect him to eat? How do you expect the workers to feed their children?” he queried.
He advised government to be more serious about workers’ welfare.
“We are appealing to the government to pay workers because workers deserve their wages,” he stated.

The international pressure and concentration was enormous, so GEJ had only one life saving option to accept his loss. Nigeria is no burundi, the secretary of state , USA was here to meet the two political gladiators weeks to the election, Obama specifically spoke to Nigerians and political actors in a special video message days to the election, Obj & co kept reminding GEJ what happened to Gbagbo of Ivory coast. GEJ would be deposed in matter of weeks , if he had refused to accept the loss.

STFU, OVER 18 states are owing workers, even Akwa Ibom state with the fattest allocation.

Osun state currently has the least allocation. What Akpabio earns in 0ne year, Aregbesola has not earned in 4.5 years.

Osun state govrn has ambitious projects at the least to show, many of the state governors owning have not paid salaries, and can still not point to any tangible projects even 8 years down the line.
