Victor Moses has been ruled out of Nigeria’s friendlies with Mali and Luxembourg through fitness concerns. The forward requested to be excused following injuries suffered from the just concluded English Premier League season and as a consequence, would play no part in the matches which serve as warm-up for the Fifa World Cup qualifiers which begins later this year. Media officer Toyin Ibitoye confirmed this to Goal claiming there would be no late replacement for the Chelsea player as the team is expected to depart for France on Tuesday night. He also disclosed that visa hitches have been resolved. “He [Moses] wrote to complain about fitness, some few knocks he picked towards the end of the season and he wants to be excused,” Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye told Goal. “As a professional, fitness issues should be taken very seriously. His wish has been granted and since it is a friendly match, we have other players available. There is nothing to worry about because this will be a chance for them to prove their worth. “Aaron [Samuel] too will be out because he picked up an injury while playing for his club in a cup final. It is a big miss because he is a very good player. “For William Troost-Ekong, he is involved in a cup final in Norway but he will join the team after the game for the second friendly game against Luxemborg. “Babatunde Michael was called up after Mikel Obi and Ahmed Musa were excused for Joseph Yobo testimonial. So there won’t be any replacement because we have a good number of players to work with. “Almost everybody is travelling tonight by 11.pm, while myself, Amodu Shuaibu and one other official will be travelling tomorrow,” he concluded. This brings to four the number of invited players that would miss the game after striker Aaron Samuel and Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel and his deputy, Ahmed Musa released to attend the Joseph Yobo Testimonial.

CLAUDIO RANIEIRI is so popular in Leicester that one loved-up couple of fans have named their DAUGHTER after him. The former Chelsea boss, previously mocked as the Tinkerman, has turned into Superman at the King Power stadium by taking his side to their first Premier League title. Despite starting the season as 5000/1 underdogs, Monday’s fiery draw between second-placed Spurs and Chelsea handed the Midlands side the crown. And, to honour the Italian, Foxes fanatics James Robinson and his fiancé Sarah have christened their 5lbs 4ozs cub Olivia-Jane Claudia Robinson. The season ticket holders have, like the rest of the country, fallen for the 64-year-old’s charm and even managed to let their newborn watch her namesake on TV against Manchester United on Sunday. James, 29, who works as an administrator at University of Leicester, told the Leicester Mercury: “My fiancée and I have both been season ticket holders at Leicester for a number of seasons and felt it was only right that we mark this massive occasion achievement in the best way we possibly could. “As it became more likely that City would win the league we considered naming our daughter after one of the players. “But the only one that came near was Fuchs, which is German for fox. “We did not think that was suitable. So we opted to go for Claudia, which also happens to be Claudio’s daughter’s name.” Sarah, 25, fell in love with the club at their old Filbert Street ground after being taken along by dad. And she has even taken to calling the loveable gaffer ‘Papa’ as he works his magic on the players and media with shouts of “dilly ding, dilly dong” on the training ground. The proud mum added: “Papa Ranieri, that’ s how I refer to him, is the total opposite to Nigel Pearson. “I was so pleased when he took over. He is humble and such a good role model. “He brought the team together.” She added: “The players are really nice people too. “I met Nathan Dyer who was in hospital for the birth of his second child and he was such a nice person. Really down to earth. “We are in total admiration of Ranieri and the way he has gone about his work, and feel it is a fitting tribute and one we can tell our little Olivia-June Claudia Robinson about in the future. “She has started her life as a Leicester fan and already has a city scarf.” cc Lalasticlala

AN Arsenal fan vowed to CASTRATE himself if Leicester won the Premier League. The Foxes were crowned champions last night after Tottenham drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Twitter user @ArsenalsCannon, who goes by the alias ‘Assist Wizard’, was so confident Leicester would stumble he promised to “chop off my balls” if they succeeded. On December 13, 2015, he tweeted: “I will chop off my balls and feed them to my dog while recording it if Leicester win the league. That how sure i am they will collapse.” The Foxes were third in the league on that date, while Arsene Wenger’s Gunners were one point ahead at the top of the table. But Leicester’s 2-1 win over Chelsea the next day moved Claudio Ranieri’s surprise package above the North Londoners. Since then, the Foxes lost just twice — once to Arsenal — on their fairytale flight to winning the top-flight. The ballsy fan has had a sudden change of heart, though, tweeting: “@ArsenalsCannon Does anyone know if balls grow back?” And he added: “@ArsenalsCannon Does anyone know how to edit tweets? Let me know asap” The Gunners saw this campaign as a chance to get their hands on the Prem title and end their 12-year drought. With former champions Chelsea’s demise under Jose Mourinho and 20-times league winners Manchester United’s rocky form, fans considered this the best year to stake their claim. But relegation-favourites Leicester burst onto the scene, while derby rivals Spurs have sneaked past them.
