After weeks of hide-and-seek, popstar, Anidugbe Daniel, aka Kiss Daniel, has finally been served court papers by his estranged label, G-Worldwide Entertainment. A Federal High Court in Lagos had on November 30, granted an order that all parties should maintain the status quo pertaining to the contract that was initially signed in 2013. However, Daniel had allegedly refused to personally receive the court papers for some weeks, which led the court to grant an order of substituted service, that the papers should be pasted on the gate of his house in Lekki Phase Two, Ajah-Lekki, Lagos, and in a national daily. According to the label, the court papers were pasted on Daniel’s gate on Friday, December 15, 2017. Meanwhile, in the writ of summons served on the artiste, the court ordered Kiss Daniel to make an appearance before it within 30 days of receiving the court papers, or the case would go to trial in his absence. Other papers served on the ‘Mama’ singer include order for substituted service, writ of summons, witness list, witness’ statement under oath, status quo order, among others. Calls put through to Kiss Daniel were not answered, neither was a text message responded to as of the time of filing this report. http://www.metronaija.ng/g-worldwide-serves-kiss-daniel-court-papers/ |

YBNL Boss, Olamide is set to shutdown Lagos tonight as his annual concert OLIC will be going down at the Teslim Balogun Stadium. The show already has it’s fair share of negative comments after many fans linked badoo’s decision to move the show from Eko hotel and suites to Teslim Balogun Stadium. Many suggested Olamide was scared of fellow rapper Phyno’s dominance and wanted to prove he could pull off the same feat. But that wasn’t a serious threat, as the show was still on course to make waves later this night. A now pressing matter has emanated after list of the performers for tonight’s concert was released. The list saw singer cum SARS officer, Yomi SARS amongst the list of performers. Many fans who engaged in the online outcry to scrape the agency, saw it as inappropriate as seeing the artist perform for them would be a spit in the face. Below are some of the tweets from fans on Yomi SARS inclusion; http://www.metronaija.com/fans-blast-olamide-yomi-sars-set-perform-olic4/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44

Your Excellencies, Heads of State and Government of Member Countries of ECOWAS, Your Excellency, Mohamed Ould Abdel – Aziz, Your Excellencies, former Heads of State, Your Excellency, Moussa Faki, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Your Excellency, Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Your Excellency, President of the ECOWAS Commission and other Appointees of the organisation, Honourable Ministers, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen. Dear colleagues and invited guests, may I welcome you all and your delegations to Abuja, for this Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States. Excellencies, 2. In West Africa, we live in constant threat of violent terrorist groups such as Boko Haram, AQIM and Al-Qaida. Nearly every week we see and hear the horror of human trafficking perpetrated by trans-border syndicates, who lure our youths to slavery through irregular migration. 3. We see the consequences, on our young men and women and on our economies, of drug trafficking and capital flight. Accordingly, it is imperative that we take urgent action to address these challenges. 4. In collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration, we, in Nigeria, have been evacuating our compatriots who are stranded in Libya. Returnees have been receiving needed support including from State Governments and some non-governmental Organisations. I have instructed the National Emergency Management Agency to speed up the evacuation of all Nigerians stranded in Libya and facilitate their resettlement. Your Excellencies Dear Colleagues, 5. In view of the enormity of this challenge, may I suggest that we look into the possibility of putting in place a well run regional mechanism for the evacuation, resettlement and empowerment of stranded ECOWAS citizens abroad. Meanwhile, we should step up dialogue with our European partners in our efforts to jointly address this challenge which affect us all. 6. The long term solutions to these challenges is to create conditions of peace and security in our countries and sustainable development of our economies. Only through this can we create jobs and other conditions in which our youths will have little or no excuse to embark on the suicidal venture of irregular migration. 7. Regrettably, there is growing reluctance from our region’s development partners to be more proactive in support of our efforts. However, our shared challenges make it imperative for the cooperation to be developed and intensified. 8. Thanks to the foresight of our predecessors, this Authority of Heads of State and Government adopted, in 2001 the “ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance”. Since then, our region has been steadily developing the culture of democratic practice, including good governance and respect for the Rule of Law. 9. This trend has just been demonstrated in Liberia. I salute the people of Liberia for the manner in which they conducted themselves during and in the aftermath of the just concluded general elections. 10. It is my fervent hope that the same attitude prevails in the coming run-off election scheduled to hold on 26 December, and a new president is inaugurated in January, 2018 as per the provision of the country’s Constitution. My Dear Sister, Your Excellency Sirleaf-Johnson, we appreciate the leadership you demonstrated in this electoral process. 11. May I also appeal to our Togolese brothers and sisters to continue to embrace dialogue in efforts to resolve their political differences. I therefore urge the Government to widen the space for dialogue and mediation. 12. With regards to our sister nation, Guinea-Bissau, it is worrisome that the continued political deadlock is taking its toll on the people, on good governance and the resources of member States, particularly troops from contributing countries to the ECOWAS Mission in Guinea Bissau. 13. I therefore strongly urge all the stakeholders in Guinea Bissau to respect their undertakings in plans to resolve the political impasse. Your Excellencies, 14. In the wake of the recent recession and economic challenges faced by ECOWAS Member States, as evidenced by the severe drop in real growth rate for ECOWAS from 6.1% in 2014 and 3.3% in 2015, to an alarming rate of 0.2% in 2016, there is an urgent need to review the spending patterns of all the Community Institutions, to ensure that dwindling resources are put to good economic use for the optimization of strategic goals of the Community. 15. In this regard, I urge the Commission leadership to practice probity and accountability in the management of our resources. 16. Equally important is the need to consolidate the efforts made so far on the ongoing Reform of ECOWAS Institutions and Specialized Agencies, and to emphasize the importance of good governance, sound financial management and cost reduction as the underlying factors for a successful reform. 17. In this regard, Nigeria welcomes the approved institutional reforms of our organisation, and we are looking forward to their comprehensive implementation. The gains and savings made should be invested on greater integration projects, as well as on security and development initiatives. Thank you and God Bless http://www.metronaija.com/buharis-full-speech-ecowas-ordinary-session-abuja/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

A solar system with as many planets as our own has been discovered with the help of NASA’s Kepler space telescope and artificial intelligence, the US space agency said Thursday. “Our solar system now is tied for most number of planets around a single star,” NASA said in a statement. However, none of the planets is expected to be hospitable to life. The eight-planet system — the largest known outside of ours — orbits a star called Kepler 90 some 2,545 light-years away. “The Kepler-90 star system is like a mini version of our solar system,” said Andrew Vanderburg, an astronomer at the University of Texas at Austin. “You have small planets inside and big planets outside, but everything is scrunched in much closer.” The newly identified planet, Kepler-90i, is a rocky planet like Earth, but orbits its star once every 14.4 days, meaning a full year there is the same as two weeks on Earth. “About 30 percent larger than Earth, Kepler-90i is so close to its star that its average surface temperature is believed to exceed 800 degrees Fahrenheit, on par with Mercury.” Scientists found it by using machine learning from Google, which teaches a computer to scan a trove of 35,000 possibly planetary signals collected from NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope for search for signs of planetary transits. Transits are the dimming of light when planets pass in front of a star. Astronomers have already confirmed the existence of some 2,500 far-away worlds using Kepler data, which captures transits. “Machine learning really shines in situations where there is so much data that humans can’t search it for themselves,” said Christopher Shallue, a senior software engineer with Google’s research team who thought of using artificial intelligence to find distant planets. More planets are expected to be found. Researchers plan to apply their neural network to Kepler’s full set of more than 150,000 stars. One day, it might even be used to search for more Earth-like planets. The findings are published in The Astronomical Journal http://www.metronaija.com/another-solar-system-like-earths-found/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |
A Coalition of Islamic organization in Nigeria, in collaboration with Al-Quds Foundation, has condemned the decision of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Trump had on Dec. 6, proclaimed recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and directed the State Department to start making arrangements to move US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The coalition made the condemnation at a news conference at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, South west, Nigeria The coalition, including the Muslim Community of Oyo State and National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) Oyo State branch, described Trump’s decision as an injustice against the Palestinians and the world in general. Alhaji Kunle Sanni, Chairman of Muslim Community of Oyo State, said that the decision would not last because Muslims would peacefully fight the injustice. Sanni said that the land belongef to the Palestinians and it would be reclaimed very soon by the grace of Allah. He said that 13 out of 14 members of Security Council voted against Trump’s decision which was an indication that the injustice would not last long. In his contribution, Prof. Afis Oladosu, Lecturer from the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan, said that the problem started from 1917 when the land was taken from Palestine by Britain and handed over to Israel. Oladosu said that in order for the state of Israel to become a reality, inhabitants of the land of Palestine were given one of the three options which voluntary evacuation, forceful ejection and life on the margins. “Millions have continued to live on the margins of life such as life in Gaza, Nablus, Shatila and East Jerusalem. “Since 1917 till date, millions of Palestinians have been martyred in defence of the holy land, millions have been orphanated and millions have had their head put on the scaffold,’’ he said. In his contribution, Mr Abdul-Rasheed Attah, Coordinator of Al-Quds foundation, called on the Muslims to be united, saying their disunity was affecting them seriously. Also, Mr Abiodun Bamgboye, Coordinator, Democratic Socialite Movement, said that the struggle in Palestine and Israel should not be seen as a struggle between the Muslims and Christians. Bamgboye said that it should be seen as a struggle between the poor in Palestine and rich European Union. He said that Muslims were not militant and destructive as it was being perceived and called on the Christians to join in condemning the injustice against the Palestinians. Bamgboye said that the struggle would not be violent but intellectual. http://www.metronaija.com/jerusalem-muslim-groups-nigeria-condemn-trump/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44 |

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday joined in the celebration of the grand finale of 2017 Community Day, assuring that the year 2018 would be better for residents and investors in terms of implementation of projects and policies aimed at making life comfortable and easier. Speaking at the programme held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa, Ikeja with the theme: "Community Affinity: Aligning Lagos Communities With Private Sector," Governor Ambode said though a lot had been done through implementation of various projects and initiatives by his administration across the communities, but a lot more would be done to truly transform and secure the future of the State. The Governor, who at the event was endorsed for second term, particularly urged the people to continue to support the State Government and be faithful to their civic obligations, saying that government in turn would reciprocate by implementing various projects across the State. He said: "Y2018 is going to be a better year for Lagos. It is a year we hope to achieve phenomenal increase in the State's ability to sustain itself by persuading more people to share in the burden of the transformation going on across the State. "You are all witnesses to the modest projects our administration has executed such as the reconstruction of Airport Road, Light Up Lagos, the Oshodi Transport Interchange, the Abule Egba and Ajah bridges, the ongoing Agege flyover, waterways channelization and construction of jetties, the Ikeja Bus Terminal, the Badagry Marina and the massive deployment of security personnel and equipment across the State. "What you have not seen, but which is on the way is the implementation of the embedded power project which will bring electricity to every home in Lagos. You have also not seen the reforms which we are going to execute in the transport sector which will ease connectivity across the State. "With your support through the performance of your obligations, we can safely commit ourselves in the conviction that by the end of Y2018, our communities will be better with more youths gainfully employed and small businesses growing. With a home to return to and a community to live in, our dream of a more secure and prosperous State will be another Nigerian wonder." While emphasizing the importance of the Community Day celebration, Governor Ambode said community development was at the heart of the policies of his administration and a key consideration in every government decision. “It captures the vision and the mission of our administration to continually work for the general good of the people. At inception, we declared clearly our commitment to give governance to the citizens of this State, young and old, men and women, able and challenged. “We said in our manifesto that from where ever you come from, as far as you labour and add value to the productivity of our dynamic and vibrant State, our government shall work with you to make Lagos State a better, livable and more prosperous home. Two and a half years after we signed that contract with you, we can confidently reflect on our policies, programmes and projects and assert that we have been true to our vision and we have been very honest in our mission,” the Governor said. Besides, Governor Ambode commended the Community Development Associations (CDAs) for their various self-help initiatives aimed at developing their neighborhood, and urged them to continue. At the event, Governor Ambode presented three vehicles to the best CDAs which performed creditably-well in executing projects at their neighborhood to complement government, while he also increased the prize of the community development competition to six vehicles next year. The Governor also approved immediate support fund of N500, 000 each to all the 57 Community Development Committees (CDCs) in the State totaling N28.5million. In his goodwill message, Chairman of Lagos State Community Development Advisory Committee, the umbrella body for all the 3900 CDAs in the State, Alhaji Tajudeen Quadri, said having reviewed the activities of Governor Ambode ever since assuming office, the body has decided to support him for a second term. He said: “Having reviewed the activities and lofty accomplishments of our silent achiever in the area of equitable distribution of road infrastructures, health, education, security, emergency response, welfare especially with consideration for people living with disabilities, among others, we have unanimously resolved to support this administration for a second term to consolidate on the gains of the last 30 months in our match towards a megalopolis of our dream.” http://www.metronaija.com/photos-gov-ambode-grand-finale-2017-community-day/ cc: lalasticlala mynd44
