Talking about cscs account, I have a share certificate with access bank, obtained in 2012, is it possible that my cscs acc is on the certificate, and if yes, how can I check if the acc is still valid? Thanks
CSCS account is to your shares as bank account is to your money. That means for your shares to be in cscs account, you must bring in your physical certificate (access bank certificate) or any company's certificate to your stockrocking firm which can be investment one if you open account with us in a process called dematrialization (digitizing paper certificate).
With that, your holdings in any company will be kept electronically. As a matter fact currently the regulators have abolish the issuance of physical certificates hence you are requested to supply your cscs account during any primary market activities in shares or bonds.

For any investor, you need cscs account in order for a safe keep of your securities or for trading shares or bonds. So if you intend to buy bonds in primary auction and despose it before the maturity date or you wish to buy shares in the secondary market ie on the floor of the NSE, you need a cscs account compulsorily.

You can click the link on my signature to open a cscs account with investment one. It's free of charge.

Like how much does it cost to have a cscs code/number
? And what is the procedure to getting it?
At Investment one you don't need cash to get cscs account. All you need to do is click the link on my signature to register online, the account will be sent to your email in 48hrs or less. You can actually open account for different products - stockbroking (cscs), Abacus mmf, VGIF, Dollar Vantage fund VDF etc all at the same time, after that you can now bring in your funds you wish to invest in any of the product you are interested in.
N.B: You will need to provide your kyc documents and upload them at the last page of the form.

My husband is having 2m fixed deposit, the bank was given him 0.5, since January.

What low risk investment can you suggest, his bank suggested opening a premium account that it will yield something substantial.

Great investors pls advice on what to do
I will always advice any low risk tolerance investor at this time to consider VGIF managed by investment one (former GTBank Asset Management). Capital and interest are guaranteed, investors also have opportunity of extra interest above the guaranteed rate depending on fund performance
Currently guaranteed rate is 7.5%. Tenor is determined by investor- easy entry and exit. Opportunity to top up principal at any interval with any amount and option for accrued interest reinvestment (compounding)

You will be required to upload your kyc documents ( passport photo, ID card, utility bill and your signature) at the last page of the form so get them ready on your phone or computer before you click. Thank you.

Brilliant Ideas.
Treasury Bill's is most transparent to me.....FGN Bonds is good but the process ain't funny..

VGIF and United capital bonds, are they backed by the Federal Government & regulated by CBN??

I'm not really a fan of making investments that is not backed by FGN
VGIF is regulated by SEC and SEC is regulated by federal government. The truth is that part of the underlying assets of VGIF is the FGN Bonds.
Find attached facts of the fund sheet for second quarter 2020.

Very good, make enquiries about other expenses like Omonile, LASG approval and include them into your overall budget. Involve a trusted law firm or estate management firm in your transaction.

While shopping for the next investment outlet, move your cash to a money market fund
I agree with Pa Emma. When it come to land acquisition, building and construction in a place like Lagos- commercial cities, don't just stop at the analysis of how profitable, check on other charges like the one in the banking arena they call it hidden charges. Finding out this charges and other things involved takes time if you are to do thorough job.

So keep your money in a low risk investment while doing the research. Don't rely only on what you are told- the usual investment slogan - do your do diligence.
Of course the mutual fund I will suggest is VGIF because the rate of mmf at this time is low due to crash in TBills rate.
You can click on the link on my signature to open VGIF account. It's a good product because you are sure of your principal and a guaranteed rate of 7.5%. You also have the opportunity to terminate at anytime.

My Tbills of 10m will mature in a few days'. In the absence of what to do with it, I am thinking of opening a Domiciliary account and putting it there at least to cushion the effects of further naira devaluation/ depreciation.

What do you think?

And which bank is best for domiciliary accounts.

Cc
Ahiboilandgas
Emmanuelewumi
Fairfora

Sholapey
Benzboys

Etc

Suggestion:
Keep the funds in VGIF which has guaranteed 7.5% rate and extra of about 2.5%. The ultimate should be primary auction of any federal govt based bonds like sukuk when it's out. There is much speculations now within the dollar space. You may not be preserving value if you buy dollars at a very high price now. Don't be surprise all the speculations may not come as expected. Some lost out in the last naira/dollar speculations. Just a suggestion! The final decision is always left for the investor to take.

I have a MMF account with investment one but I want to open a VGIF account. How do I go about it.
Simple, Just click the link on my signature and complete the form online. As you click the link this time, pick VGIF among the products displayed. I will advice you to add stockbroking in case you have plan to invest in shares in the future you will not need to fill the form again.
The way it works is that an investor can decide to open more than one product account at a go otherwise you have to be filling the form each time you want to invest in any of the product.

N.B: you don't need cash to open any of the product account and the accounts can be funded at a future date when money is ready. Product accounts don't go dormant
My phone number is also on my signature you can call or chat.

Hi guys, never knew there was a thread like this on Nairaland.

I have a question. If I wanted to buy a foreign stock like Facebook for long time investment, how do I go about it?

The reason I asked is, definitely all these little apps that serves as a means to buy stocks is likely not going still be available in the next 15, 20 years.

One other question. Where do I start reading this thread from as a complete beginner?

Sorry for my layman language.
If you are a beginner, you should start from home. Learn how to invest in the NSE before talking of foreign stocks.

Read this thread from the beginning before you get to the first fifty pages you will understand the rudiments, get a clear objective of why you want to invest, define your risk tolerance level, read some articles about stocks and investment on nairametics and similar websites, ask questions.

If you are completely new to investment arena, I will advice you start from low risk investment windows like mutual funds, don't be in a hurry because some of the things you have heard or read or will read about stocks or investment generally is better experienced than thought or observed. All the best

What are the ROI sir?
Currently VGIF has 7.5% Gurranteed returns plus extra of about 2.5 to 3% depending on d gains of d fund. So we are looking at about 10.5% returns

With the current prices of GTBank and Zenith bank shares and assuming they pay same dividend as paid for full year of 2019, conservatively you have a yield above 12%

The last sukuk was11. 2%

All you need now is to click the link on my signature and open VGIF account. If you do it today by tomorrow you get your account details. May God bless everyone on this Thread and may God bless my elders in the financial industry.

I love investment but i do not have a thing for settling up a business because i love working from home and feom the comfort of my house.

I made some couples of money from Forex and I already have some investment in lands.

I need suggestions on where else i can invest in (like Tbills and co)

I have a budget of some millions and I am looking at suitable places (well insured) i can invest in with Favourable ROI. I am ready to explore as many opportunities as possible.

I read back on some pages and i really can’t fully understand most of the opportunities.

God bless everyone and i hope to get favourable responses from everyone
Suggestions:
You can do:
Mutual Funds - VGIF Recommended
Shares of dividend paying companies e.g Gtbank, Zenith, MTN etc
Bonds - You can be building your funds in VGIF before a primary auction of Sukuk or FGN Bonds
Open account with the link on my signature to venture into the above options with Investment one (Former GTBank Asset Management)

I don’t understand this Stanbic Mutual funds anymore .. seems like the more you do additional subscription the more your interest reduces. I will try as much as I can to monitor them closely this forth coming week and see if I would liquidate to another platform. Although I opted for the compound interest but seems like I choose it wrong. I don’t get to see the interest daily .. they accumulate 2 to 3 days and pay you peanuts 1200- 1800 interest on investment with capital below 8m .
@westbuoy reasons for low interest rate on mmf is not peculiar to stanbic though some firms has theirs slightly higher but it's in same region. Rates are down generally because Tbills rate has crashed and about 70 to 75% of the underlying assets of all mmf irrespective of the firm is invested in Tbills. Hence your experience.

You can diversify within the fixed income investment windows.
VGIF managed by investment one can be a good option because it's a mutual fund in the fixed income category. The rate is not daily valued but benchmarked with SDF of the CBN currently at 7.5%. So if you don't mind you can have your mmf with stanbic as short term and VGIF for long term. Of course when rate improves you can reshuffle your investment. Generally low risk investment gives low returns. In addition, the current economic status of the country is also a contributory factor to the low rate regime. Normally what happens in investment space is a reflection of a country's economy stability and strength. You can't give what you don't have.

A word for the Newbies START WITH WHAT YOU HAVE AND WHERE YOU ARE
Investing is better done on a gradual note. There are many investment opportunities, trying to explore all at the same time with little resources may not yield the necessary positive effect.
It’s good to diversify and have different investment windows but wanting to have all at once will slow you down and will not allow you to start. If you have little. Why not start with mutual funds and grow gradually, with time you add stocks, bonds, dollar dominated investments, real estate, foreign stocks etc. Most newbies in the quest to invest in all windows end up not investing because you keep seeing reasons while certain investment is better than others. Real estate for instance is a very good investment but why waste time trying to do real estate when you have just some few hundreds of thousands which you can easily grow with mutual funds and stock investment. Just start somewhere. If there is willingness and focus to invest you will get to your dreams. Reading investment books is good but if you don’t practice even the simplest principles in those books it’s same as the person not reading at all.
Start with what you have and where you are!

Bro what good alternative can you advise... I want to create a kind of basket for safe keeping and at the same time multiple - little drops make an ocean.
If that is what you want I recommend VGIF. unit price is N1. You can top up with any amount at any time. You have 7.5% guaranteed benchmarked with sdf and extra gain of about 2.5 to 3% which means annually you have about 10.5%. There is option of reinvestment of your interest (compounding). Good morning fellas!
A wet Friday morning at my end.
Please I need your advice - a pick if possible - on these instruments: fbn fixed income fund and fbn balanced fund.
Thanks already.
If your risk tolerance is low stay away from anything balance or equity funds otherwise you can try it. Balance or equity funds are heavily dependent on the state of the NSE.
N.B: it's not a discredit to FBN it's general to such funds irrespective of the fund managers. I'm with Investment One.

good evening sir, how often is dividend paid? When is the right time to buy the shares? Can I invest without going through a stockbroker? Thanks for answering, it will greatly help a newbie trying to build up funds with limited capital.
They pay dividend regularly.

For Equities generally or funds with offer and bid prices, the best practice which is rational anyway is to buy low and sell high.

All stocks listed on the NSE needs a broker before you can buy online yourself or give a mandate for them to buy on your behalf except if it's a public offer in that case you don't really need a stockbroking firm. You can buy through any accredited agent to the offer which can also include banks.
