@All the great minds here doing wonderful contribution it is disheartening that First Bank of Nigeria plc don,'t pay me any interest in my savings account. as I have just confirmed today.
Because of the low interest in Tbill, I just idled my fund in my savings account. for more than 4months now the balance always remain the same.
other Banks like GTBANK and Unionbank pays theirs religiously.
First Bank why? even when I don't do any withdrawal on the account.
I decided to confirm my suspicions this August by not doing anything on that account even checking of balance, but only deposits more money
As at this morning my balance remain the same.
anyone who know how I can chat them up directly online, should pls let me know as those their staff at the branches will just ignore me as I have tried to complain about it sometime ago without any result
Go to the branch and request you see the manager. Insist even if they are trying not to allow you see him/her.
But be sure with the new policy from CBN, it could be worse as per interest.
Hence we have cried aloud here. Invest in VGIF at 7.5% you will be happier.

In the attempt to wake from my simping slumber, I want to join the league of investors.

Gurus in the house, which investment can I start with 100k with high ROI.
@RavagedHeart thank God you are waking up according to you.
The first thing is to determine your investment objective ie what you intend to achieve because investment is a means to an end. The reason for investment should not just be because others are investing. You will also do well to gather some investment knowledge that in itself is a form of investment.
With the capital you have, mutual funds will be good and stocks better if you can take risk; gradually you will build wealth if consistent
N.B: The bolded is a relative term when considering forms of investment in relation to risk.

Thanks for this.

To be sure, the filled form will be submitted at the bank and not the registrar?

Cos my old-man has over 5 stock portfolios spread across different registrars.
The completed forms can be submitted either at the bank or to the registrar whichever is convenient; it will be treated that is what SEC stated as the campaign to reduce unclaimed dividend continues.

I have this one i meant like a SEC or NSE email to copy so that they take it serious and address asap

Thanks again
That may not really change anything. You can just do a reminder. But are you sure your mandate is transmitted? even if it's transmitted your outstanding dividend payment is not immediate. For most registrars the earliest is ten working days ie two weeks. I will suggest you continue trying their line after the reminder mail.

I also read online that it takes 4 to 6months to obtain it in lagos via a high court and you also pay between 5 to 15 percent of the value of the estate to the state government where the letter of administration was issued, nawao shocked,l hope what I read online is correct though, I will allow a lawyer to follow it up for me since I am currently not resident in Nigeria
Yes there is a percentage to give to the government but I can't say exactly the rate. For the duration it takes, it may be more than what you stated.
Sincerely most people that have had the experience their comment is it's not easy is always the case but it's possible and doable.

Yes boss, very true. What I was hearing for the first time was the conversion to estate account. Perhaps you can help throw more lights on that.
Yes that is the name it's called. The account that is opened or operated on behalf of a late person. It's to show that the person operating it is not the original owner of the investment. Opening and operating an estate account is just as simple as opening a personal account with the bank or a stockbroking firm. once a letter of administration is obtained, the rest is simple and straight forward.
However, obtaining a letter of administration is not as easy and simple as it's being mentioned but it's achievable.

Let him go to First Registrars at 2, Abebe Village road Iganmu, if you are in Lagos or go to any main breach of first bank in any major city in Nigeria it will be sorted.
Two things: if he has outstanding dividends it will be credited after completion of the e- mandate form. secondly he will be given a dematerialization form which you are required to see a strockbroking firm with for onward deposit into his cscs account.
If he's yet to have a cscs account, Investment one can do that. Just click on the link on my signature to register for free. You can as well call or chat my number is available on my signature.

Good morning gurus in the house. Thank you for sharing the shares link.

Please I need help on this; I bought some shares with Gtbank and the then Allstates bank . For each purchase I did not receive any certificate and I did not push to get them. Though I made attempts to get them but other things took my time. I searched the link but my name is not found.

What could be the problem?

Also, how do i go about reclaiming the shares?

Thanks.
As Oga Emma said that is a possibility and so don't expect any dividend. However, if you bought the shares yourself and you are sure, then visit Datamax Registrars for GTBank shares, Ecobank bought over Allstates bank so go to GTL Registrars for that. In each of the case, go along with an acceptable ID card. At the office of the registrars you will get the true status of your holdings if any.

If you have holdings with the coys you stated then each registrar will give you a dematerialization form ( process of converting holdings in physical certificate into electronic form and deposited into a cscs account) so that the shares can be deposited electronically into your cscs. that means you will need to open a cscs account and a stockbroking house will process the form with the registrars.

When you have confirmed your status and it's positive, click the link on my signature to open a cscs account with investment one. It's free.

@emmasoft say for instance for someone that’s active, if he buys some shares in 2018 and goes to submit the e-dividend mandate in 2020, will the registrar automatically pay up the the outstanding dividend or does he still have to go through the procedures for unpaid dividends?
Of course it will be credited. Once you submit your completed mandated form to the registrar or bank Whether it was 12 years ago or last year. Any dividend that has not been collected by the shareholder on the stipulated payment date by the company that declared it, it's regarded as unclaimed dividend and so it must be claimed by the SEC approved way ie fill, submit and be credited.
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmasoft(m):

Pls are there any charges when one take the form to banks? And is it just any bank that one banked with?
According to SEC as at the time the drive for collection of unclaimed dividend started few years back it was free and I'm not sure if the free period is over or not. Otherwise there is no charges whether taken to bank or registrars

Yes you take the form to any of the bank you have account with. The only bank not acceptable is microfinance. All clearing bank and whether savings or current account is acceptable.

Ema, I think you are wrong here. I am not sure that step of going to get signature confirmation from the bank is still a required step.
For those who the owners of such shares are still alive, they only need to find out who the registrar of that particular share is (Google will help here), download the e-mandate form, fill it, scan and send to the email of the registrar gotten from their site.
No my brother we are saying the same thing. dividend mandate can be submitted at the bank or to the registrar that is what is obtainable right now. More so some registrars don't honour the scanned copy especially if first time. They prefer it coming from the bank or you going to them. I suggested the bank in case if it's difficult getting through to the registrar the bank becomes the best option. Going to the bank is not for the document to be signed but to be submitted. The bank then upload it to the common portal where the registrar have access. same thing if it's the other way round

Does this your last paragraph also applies to Alumaco of Nigeria plc? Is the company still active or delisted from the NSE? Thanks
Alumaco was delisted since May 2016. I am not sure if it was a case of buy out because a company can be delisted but not buy out. I don't think Alumaco was a case of buy out it was just delisted most likely because of regulatory issues. in that case he gets any outstanding dividend. However, if it was a buy out, he will get the money as well.

What are the names of the companies he had shares in?

Hello Oga Emma,
I saw my dad's name too. He has unclaimed dividends with GTB, Dangote Flour Mills and FBN, pls how do I proceed? He's still alive.
On behalf of oga Emma; Here is what to do:
Download the respective e-mandates from this link
https://sec.gov.ng/public-notice-the-e-dividend-mandate-activation-forms-of-various-registrars-are-now-available-for-download/

Your dad takes them to his bank and submit. All things being equal ie no signature issues, the dividends not older than 12 years will be credited to his account. If otherwise the respective registrars will advice on the way forward.

N.B: For DFM your dad is getting a pay off not only dividend because Olam already bought the coy over and it has been delisted from the NSE

Udyawanga:
Pls d gurus on investment one (vgif), I was opening a new account with investment one, but in the bank details, they were requesting for my BVN. Is it d procedure or am not following original link. Pls I need an answer
@Udyawanga Yes it's a requirement for opening investment account in Nigeria it's one of the SEC rules and regulations.
For your information the purpose of the BVN is to
1. guide against money laundering
2. to personalize your account so that funds moving out of your account anytime is going to the right and mandated account;
in this regard, any mandate given for funds withdrawal that doesn't tally with the saved BVN can never be released. The system will raise an error
So it's actually part of your funds protection.

It will interest you to know that there is a level of acceptable SEC allowed view of clients details as per BVN; that you supplied your BVN does not mean Investment one has access to your bank account in anyway. By normal acceptable regulatory rules, all information you filled on the form online is direct to the server. As much as possible human interface is reduced to the barest minimum as regards clients information. That also means no one can make a change to all those details of yours except you give a written mandate for such to be done.
So sir be rest assure all information provided is treated with the almost confidentiality required of an investment firm as Investment one.
By the way I hope you used my link o to help my ministry grin

I got it immediately. Checked my mail an hour ago and discovered that the account has been created. That was fast. I have also created a login profile from the website as i intend to do my monitoring from the login profile.
Oh good to hear that. You can always do the monitoring as you wish. Clients have the option of using the app, the web or both to monitor their investments.
Anytime you make a transfer your customer number must be written on the description or narration even if there is no space for your name for easy tracing. However, if you omit that anytime, kindly send evidence of transfer to customer care or chat with them online from the website so that they can do the needful. I am also available anytime.
Also preferably use normal bank transfer from your internet banking or bank app when making deposit and if done before 12 noon it will have same day value and interest and this option also don't have any charges attached apart from the normal bank charges. The card option will carry charges from the third party like interswitch but it's also okay if you don't mind.

Good day veterans in the house, please any person that has experience with veritas registrar should help a newbie like me, I send my e-dividend mandate form and this is the reply I got "Dear Valued Shareholder,Thank you for your mail.
We acknowledge receipt of your mail. Please be informed that you are required to submit this for through your bank, for onward processing to us" does this mean they don't accept e-dividend mandate through email again
Depending on the registrars some don't accept especially if it's a new mandate, if it's update it can go. For some they request specifically for investors to send by mail.
The best option most cases is through your bank if you didn't visit the registrars office.
