Underground: You are absolutely correct emmatok. I like the angle at which you have viewed this.
Should the Chinese or the Russians become world powers, do not trust them either... Power corrupts and you can expect that the same manner in which the US has gone about its hegemonic ambitions will be repeated by China and Russia. Subjugating and subverting non-compliant governments to their will..... We as Africans have to wake up and realize that we ourselves are our only hope. All these looking up to America or trusting in them oyinbos is folly - totally folly....
That's why I don't join the so called antiwest or anti Putin talk on NL.
Russians, China, UK and the USA has a good history of Subjugating and subverting non-compliant governments.
Underground: Nigerians are truly a funny lot. I am reading comments from the hialrious, to the ridiculous, to the downtright bizarre.
How on earth is banning sustained street protest going to lead to war? Just how? War between whom and whom? How is Putin Hitler? Can someone please explain?
For those that do not understand - and there are unfortunately so many here - the geo-politics at play, please just refrain from commenting on this issue. Abeg ehn?
Putin has only pre-empted what he sees as efforts by the West to destablize his country with protests and violence that can be instigated and sponsored by Western NGOs, think-tanks and 5th elements masquerading as pro-democracy, pro-transparency, pro-open economy organizations. They have done this in the past and light of Putin, together with other world leaders successfully lauching the BRICS economic block, you can bet your ass that they will attempt to do this again. I have said it before and I will say it again: DO NOT TRUST THE WEST! All the do aren't all for altruistic or humanitarian reasons. They are mostly after their interests and Putin has posed a serious threat to the West's hegemony and control of the world's prime financial institutions, namely the IMF and the World Bank.
Isn't it so obvious to see the geo-politics at play? Russia at the moment is locked in a political and financial war wih the West. At the rate in which things are going, I do not see how a real war will be avoided sometime in the future. Has anyone heard of the Asian pivot and the ABMs being deployed in Eastern Europe which the West claims are actually protection against Iran when in reality that are for countering the tactical nuclear threat that Russia poses? Wars and World Wars have been fought for resources and economic control and I guarantee you that wars are still yet to be fought....
Look at these pictures of past pro-democracy, pro-transparency protests. You can see how the leaders of these protests and so-called NGOs filing into the US embassy in Moscow. NED, ACPC, George Soros Open Society, IRI, AEI, The Brookings Institution, Chatham House, etc.....All poison!!
Open you eyes people!
mascot87, emperorwhale, lucianohose, chemicstein, etc, twale!!!!. You guys are awake and see things as they are. Others - well, I can only hope that one day you too will see things much differently....
Images: Russia has a problem. Caught red-handed - Russia's opposition, long accused by the Kremlin of being foreign-funded, and who have well documented ties to the US State Department, are caught filing into the US Embassy in Moscow in January of 2012, just days after agitator Michael McFaul began his stint as US Ambassador to Russia.
We all know it is geopolitics. But it is not only the west that should not the trusted.
IRONIC, the same Nigerian chatting on NL will be arrested for doing so in Russia. Wonder how people live in free world and celebrate tyranny of other countries.
GBTYO: BUK systems are not AK-47 or RPG launchers.
The system is highly complicated and requires a high level of Military technical competency and support hardware. The Missile launch pad acts like a mobile launch pad which can be moved into place. It does not work on line of sight as it has no radar guidance system but requires a COM center to co-ordinate attacks remote from the actual launch site.
In summary it is a complicated hardware that does not work independently as it requires a ground radar guidance system.
Now ask yourself why Pro-Russian separatist will want to down a civilian jet?
A Ukrainian SU-25 was shot down a few minutes after the downing of the jet.
My theory is as follows:
Rebels stumble upon BUK that was abandoned by Ukrainian forces who mobilized several of these BUKs to the east early last week.
Ukrainian Forces deploy SU-25 fighter jet within Russian border to trigger Russian response. Ukrainian air force jet targets civilian jet and Russian air defense system react immediately targeting the SU-25 jet.
Meanwhile, we should also not forget the fact that Putin's jet was in flight within the time of this incidence over in Poland airspace. Russian air defense system would had been on hair trigger mode. The Ukrainian SU-25 was deployed to attack a similar looking jet.
It could be fog of war or a deliberate attempt to trigger a massive conflict but all of this points to Ukraine and not Russia and definitely not the rebels.
The same Pro-Russian separatist that downed Fighter Jets.
You lots are just callous. The Russians are just quite knowing thier foes are increasing . They sponsored the rebels that did this.
Waiting for the Pro-Russians rebels in NL to start defending Russia. Russians don't know anything about diplomacy, they thought using force is the solution to their problems.
skelewu74: You not being a member of the hospital community makes your comment lack credibility. Anything you write is just from hearsay.
You heard from your relatives about how doctors destroy government hospitals? Very funny. Oh, doctors went ahead to destroy NEPA, NIPOST, Nigerian Railway, NITEL, Police, Military, University, Government Institutions, Customs, Research Facilities?
You need to tell yourself the truth. Government destroys it's own institutions. Take a look around you before you post.
HAHA, you very predictable, so my comment lack credibility because am not a medical worker?
We will not all be medical workers(doctors e.t.c).
But i know more about your profession before you dream of attending medical school. We started one of the first HMOs in Nigeria when doctors busy fighting the government over everything. Today most Nigerian get the best health service from well managed private hospitals thanks to HMO.
skelewu74: My point is simple: Stop claiming the competence you never worked for and never attained. You don't compare yourselves with doctors. It is rude, unprofessional, an indiscipline, barbaric. There cannot be two masters in a place. You were not trained to be rude to your superiors. The attitude most of you display is enough to throw you out of clinical practice. If doctors did that to their superiors, they would be dealt with by their own profession. You people need to be talked to. There's no rivalry between doctors and you guys. Everyone's role is already defined. You already know before you chose nursing that nurses are mid level health care professional. You cannot reach the peak of your career by wanting to be doctor when you trained as Johesuist. So it's not like anybody is denying you the right to reach the peak if your career. Reality is when you reach that peak, you are there as nurse. it's Good. Nursing is a Good profession. But I see the problem is you also want to be Medical Director too. Why? First, MEDICAL. Are you medical? No. second, DIRECTOR. Are you supposed to direct doctors or the hospital services? This is when there's going to be problem.
I can sense you are an hot head with the way you put your replies. I am neither a doctor and nurse. But i have lots of medical workers as families and friends, and i know how you guys DOCTORS destroy Government hospitals with your silly politics. Most effective private hospital i Nigeria don't have these issues.
skelewu74: I have a pleasure of announcing you a doctor. Get this into your head: You didn't write the same exam. You wrote BNsc exam. Yours is 40%. Their is 50%. Yours is 50 questions, theirs is double that.Yours doesn't determine if you move to next class or not, theirs determines their fate. A medical student that prepares for your exam will fail in his. The difference is clear. MB is not the same as anatomy, o sweet dear. Just know your limit.
You seems to the ignorant on University curriculum. Some courses are compulsory for nurses, physiotherapy and medical student. In most Universities 100/200 level courses are general to specific set of students.
And stop saying Doctors are Oga to other medical workers, it makes a mockery of the Education you claim to have.
There are 1000s duties in Medical Laboratory Science field a doctor can never perform.
Tholuwaniey: It is popularly Believed that The first cultist group in Nigeria was created by Prof. Wole Soyinka called "THE PIRATES CONFRATERNITY" in 1965
Cultism wouldn't have been in Nigeria if not for the abderian act by well esteemed professor.. Though reasons for his actions are best known to him. But We all are aware of the negative menace cultism is causing in our society today and it rampant spread among our Potentially blessed youth Now the question is..
Was Professor Wole Soyinka's act right? After almost 50 years what are the positive influence confraternities has had in Nigeria at large?
share your thoughts
Its surprising that you don't know the difference between cultism and fraternity.

bushdoc9919: Well, lets break up Nigeria . What next?
1.Boko Haram continues its carnage....because one thing about Boko that most secessionists don't get is that its ambitions are beyond Nigeria.....and it extends everywhere
One American missionary to the Philippines and her husband( also a missionary) were kidnapped by Muslim millitants ostensibly fighting for a separate Islamic state in the South of the Philippines. They spent up to 9 months with their captors. One night, the missionary asked one of her captors 'Suppose you get your Islamic state in the South, will you lay down your arms'? The millitant replied...No,we will conquer the rest of the Phillipines and then neighboring countries until we rule the world. (From the mouth of a supposed local militant).
2.Refugees get displaced, because even the far North has Christians and Pagans present. Guess what...they will be chased by the Islamists....and guess who will be forced to host them.....
3.Perpetual war between the constituent parts. Because splitting Nigeria is not as easy as a line drawn at the level of the Niger-Benue axis.
4.Minority tribes will suffer the most under a split Nigeria than they will under a united Nigeria.
5.And I have not mentioned/discussed who gets the oil.
Splitting Nigeria is easy.....it is dealing with the potential mess that is hard. FWIW....if we wanted to split easy ....1966 was the best year.
1000 likes You just summaries WS comment here.
There will be no peace in Biafra, ND or Oodua region if Boko haram takes over the North. Thier aim is expansionist .
aresa: We've read a lot about the elections and we've heard from the people of Ekiti detailing the reasons why they voted against Fayemi and Tinubu's name didn't surface, not once.
I don't even know what Ijebu and Ondo people got to do with Ekiti people's need for stomach infrastructures and crumbs?
You people give Tinubu too much credit...
Tinubu earned much credits, but most Yoruba feels he is oversteping for Political gains. You probably forgot that the same TINUBU was running from one OBA to another, with attacks on OBAs he feel are not supporting him. Did you notice the division between Olubadan and ALAAFIN . And how GEJ and TINUBU are using them?
When was the last time you heard Afenifere say anything positive about TINUBU.
Politics these days is beyond voting but about swaying voters.
mandarin: I've taken a look at the socio- psychological marks across the land and it doesn't take anything away that Ekiti is pro-Yoruba stronghold. But why on earth was it shaken?
EKITI are still 100% pro Yoruba, but Ekiti is similar to ONDO and IJEBUs. They find it difficult to accept TINUBU as Yoruba Leader. Remember most APC guys were busy insulting AFENIFERE and AWOLOWO family, attracting the anger of most Yorubas. Summary, Ekiti did not reject Fayemi or APC. Ekitis rejected TINUBU.
Are you surprised that it is NON-YORUBAS that are supporting the event in EKITI? Nigerians with short memory. FAYEMI 1st term is far better than FAYOSE 1st term. The Same FAYOSE that was busy commissioning fake poultry project.
Coming from the same Fayose who gave Ekiti a fake poultry project. Comparing both FAYEMI AND FAYOSE first trms FAYEMI is fer better. FAYOSE should keep quiet and start planning for EKITI future
On the contrary you don't, cos they won't come down to Nigeria to tell you if they have done that or not..
Senators are elected and controlled by their electorates and not fellow senators .

Adekunle led the Third Marine Commando Division with such great panache and determination that the foreign media, in looking for a human angle on the Biafran war, found him a ready source of news. Adekunle was a key champion of the food blockade to Biafra. In a wartime interview he had with Randolph Baumann of Stern Magazine in Igweocha (published on August 18, 1968), he stated:[3]
ADEKUNLE: In the section of the front that I rule—and that is the whole south front from Lagos to the border of Kamerun—I do not want to see the Red Cross, Caritas Aid, World Church delegation, Pope, Missionary, or UN delegation.
STERN: Does that mean that the many thousands of tons of food that are stored in Lagos will never get to the refugee camps in your section of the country?
ADEKUNLE: You are a sharp one, my friend. That’s exactly what I am saying.
STERN: But you said yourself that most of the refugees in the part you captured are not Ibos.
ADEKUNLE: But there could be Ibos among them. I want to avoid feeding a single Ibo as long as this whole people have not given up yet.
STERN: Do you sometimes feel sympathy for the Ibos?
ADEKUNLE: I have learned a word from the British, which is “sorry”! That’s how I want to respond to your question. I did not want this war but I want to win this war. Therefore I have to kill the Ibos. Sorry! The End.
Gen. Adekunle's son wrote an account of his father's military career in a biography titled The Nigeria-Biafra Letters: A Soldier's Story.
MAYOWAAK: THERE WAS NO BOMB BLAST IN AHOADA - Ahoada Indigene Felix Josiah, an indigene of Ahoada (Ekpeye) has just confirmed that Channels TV (operating from Lagos), APC, Ogundamisi, Premium Times, Sahara Reporters and their GULLIBLE believers, LIED. There was no bomb blast at the Ahoada High Court... He agreed there was a scare though, and the Rivers State Police and Anti-Bomb Squad was called in to cordon off the area for possible detonation. Confirm from the resident
Lies, There was BOMB BLAST. Even PDP confirmed it happened.
Uyi Iredia: I know someone who know someone who is a politician who saud that 'raid on Boko boys' was a cover-up story for murder. It is a general who owns the house. I was told he hated the abokis using his uncomoleted building and had told them to leave but they didn't for obvious reasons. He got them killed and arranged a fancy (and neatly done IMO) story they were Boko boys. I myself chopped the lie before being told otherwise.
Think about it, they didn't even have no weapons, it was in a safe part of Abuja not known for terrorism of the sort. BTW Boko boys usually operate from villages on the outskirts of cities and from there sneak in a city to bomb, nkill or steal. That issue needs to be followed up, but who will bell the cat ?
Ye i also heard that Jist, but if those houses were marketable, those properties won't empty for scavengers.
Nairaboi: i refuse to agree with the o.p. first, not only Abuja but anypart of Nigeria, are these same empty houses because the are highly priced. These is because the environment where these houses are built did no come easy. if i may ask how easy will it be to buy a land of over 50 million and then build structures just to rent it out for peanuts. from wuse to Asokoro, maitama to Garki down to Airport road the estates there cost money and that is y if anyone cant afford them, alieta, giri, mpape, zuba , karmo to dei dei awaits u.
Your post shows you agree with the OP, she is just using Abuja as an example.
But whats the marketability of those properties.
Most big men would rather buy land and build their houses in Abuja, Than to pay millions renting overpriced properties.
Most Abuja properly owners/developers are not smiling.
Na ABOKI dey enjoy the house, thats were BK boyz were caught during the last raid.
