I went to the same school with this guy- if it were a country where laws are upheld, this guy would either have faced the firing squad or sent to jail for his entire lifetime. In 1995, this guy led some students, on the guise of looking for cult members, to prominent members of the society in Lagos, looting, burning and killing. He led the worst students union government in Unilag at that time - I remembered him and his cohorts beating up two so called cult members and leaving them stark nake d in front of the new hall at that time. He reigned with terror and there was no consideration for human rights under him. Today - he champions human rights. Where are the souls of the so called cult members who died under his raid? and the properties set ablaze by him and his cohorts? Where is the justice on what he did then in 1995? Wish he can be called to book and prosecuted rather than him parading himself as a champion of human rights.
You have problem with UNIONISM.

Yes Sowore was a Strong union leader In UNILAG like others in UI and OAU. SO what.

He was poisoned by the-same cultist, and luckily sent abroad by some activists.

The-same Saharareporters championed GEJ course during YARADUA regime.

Now these sycophants are bashing them.

I'm congratulating them for standing up and making a difference in a peaceful manner unlike urself sitting on your hands while the govt poops all over u.

NB: the protest was directed at the police
The protest was said to have received the support of the leader of Jamat Tahawum, known as Alfa Dawud, who led the students on a protest which took them from one school to the other, starting from Local Authority Grammar School to Saint Anthony Grammar School; Methodist Grammar School and Iwo Grammar School, The protest forced the school authorities to close down the schools, while the students were sent home,
The statement said the state was noted for peace and the state government would not allow any religious bigot to turn it into a place of religious intolerance.

Oponu,

If those shameless adult did't start that nonsense, will those schools be shut down?

Instead of registering their grievance with the GOVT, the AGBAYA( Alfa Dawud) and his clowns are busy matching from one school to the other threaten those kids.

And these actions below too is peaceful

A friend's brother had an accident and was rushed to LASUTH, only to be told that they had no beds, then his family had to take him all the way to OAUTH where of, course, he eventually died. It is so sad how we toy with human existence in this country. I am ashamed of a government that considers removal of oil subsidy and conferment of honours at the forefront of its agenda when the medical system rots daily.

This family has been thrown into so much pain now because we do not have adequate health facilities and our leaders are there pretending like all is well.

With the current state of education in this country, we can only imagine the quality of doctors we produce. This is rather very unfortunate after over 50 years of independence. I was once hospitalized, only for the two young doctors, who probably graduated yesterday, to start debating about what exactly could be wrong with me, right in my presence. I thought, are these the people I am depending on to get well?

Just when will the Nigerian government place value on human life? It is so sad!
We have 5 car manufacturing/Assemble plants in Nigeria and 2 that can assemble good and durable buses:-Innosson and Annamco. Why is the lagos government importing BRT buses? This is why Nigeria is not growing. Fashola should be protested about this.

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67685:unity-banks-facility-for-brt-buses-hits-n9811m-&catid=31:business&Itemid=562

THE Managing Director of Unity Bank Plc, Mr. Ado Wanka recently said that the bank had financed the purchase of BRT buses to the tune of $6.3 million (N981.1 million).

Wanka said this during the celebration of Unity Bank Day at the ongoing 2011 Lagos Trade fair.

He said that the bank also provided another N215 million to ensure the buses were cleared from the port, registered, kitted and have parking spaces.

According to him, “in this way the bank was participating in the Lagos State Government’s efforts to make Lagos a Mega City.”

“Let me remind us of peculiar challenges of transportation in Lagos. Simply put, movement in Lagos can be tricky.

“That is why Unity Bank financed the purchase of 100 42 seater buses by HFZ Transport Services at a cost of $6, 330,000.

“Moreover, to ensure port clearance, proper vehicle registration, kitting and provision of parking spaces for the buses we also provided a further financial outlay of N251, 000,000.

“In this way, we are participating in the steps being taken by the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola to reshape Lagos into a model city of the 21st century,” he said.

Wanka said that the bank would continue to partner with the government to transform Lagos positively, adding that that was demonstrated by its participation in collection of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He said that the bank had 36 branches in Lagos and 18 in Kaduna parading latest Information Technology infrastructure, adding that that underscored the importance, which the bank attached to Lagos.

He said that the bank was the first to implement the Oracle 11g on Banks’ Application Software.

The managing director said that the bank’s latest products included Unity BetA, Unity PAYS, and Unity Holy Trip.

He added that Unity BetA, empowered small business and entrepreneurs to grow their businesses while Unity PAYS, provided customer opportunity to buy valuable assets like generator sets and machines.

He also said that Unity Holy Trip, provided opportunity for customer to save for pilgrimage and features BTA allowance and 50 per cent credit facility.

The President of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Mr. Femi Deru, commended the bank for having over 5, 000 people in its employment.

He said that this made them the largest employer of labour, adding that they should keep it up and work hard to meet its quest of being the highest capitalised bank in 2016.
VON Automobiles To Launch Made-In-Nigeria Buses

The management of VON Automobiles Nigeria Limited, owners of rejuvenated VWoN (Volkswagen of Nigeria) assembly plant in Lagos has announced plans to roll out the first batch of locally built Ashok Leyland brand of commuter buses in December 2011, with a promise to assist Nigeria in her quest for rapid socio-economic transformation.

•Ashok Leyland bus.
Mr. Tokunbo Aromolaran, Managing Director, VON Automobiles Nigeria Limited last week made this declaration in Lagos, when a team of auditors from the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) visited the plant to assess the extent of work. The plant, which has been moribund for over 15 years is currently being rejuvenated and retooled with modern assembly lines to produce the modified Ashok.
The director described the automobile industry as a critical sector that requires fundamental approach, and urged the federal government to support local production and review import tariff polices in favour of vehicle assembly plants, because of their impact on the country’s economy.
While also recalling that the company inherited mere carcass of the moribund Volkswagen plant, Mr. Aromolaran said: “We have since August 2011 been working round the clock to revamp the decrepit remains of the company to elevate its status to the desired standard for a bus assembly.”
He said the resuscitated plant has attained 75 per cent completion and would be ready in few weeks to roll out the first batch of made-in-Nigeria Ashok Leyland commercial vehicles from completely knockdown components. He added that the company’s marketing team has commenced upbeat marketing strategies to exploit markets in the Economic Community of West African States to boost capacity utilization of the Lagos-based plant.
VON Automobiles has installed capacity for 1,000 buses annually and is capable of providing job opportunities for various technicians and artisans. The management of the plant has already commenced talks with local content producers to supply locally made components in a scheduled phase substitution of imported components from Ashok Leyland India, the plant director affirmed.

It is a fragrant topic but culminated minds must take heart and discuss it. At this antediluvian stage I am innundated with gigantic
scrapes even some matured minds may not accomodate.    .
It started a few years back when we were still catholics, ma dad was a devoted christian with albatros in the catholic church.
Unfortunatly at the early age of 12, i saw ma dad loose ma mum to the parish priest (rev.father) I expected ma seniors to have
a say but they dare not cus ma mum loved us so much. It was so obvious that ma dad stopped sitting in front of the church, later
stopped going, later stopped us from going to catholic church. As time went on i finished ma secondary education and travelled. I later got
informed that ma mum had abdicated from seen the priest. We became one happy family again. Later that year i was told that ma dad now
dates a benin woman.  knowing very well what we had seen in the past, i adviced my senior brother to be mute and just pray over it.

Years has gone by until this same week i had a problem with ma mum concerning marriage, i called my junior to inform him about what ma mum
said, only for me to be told that ma dad is now the minister for women affairs. (in his 60s)waooo, what a situation. My mum is so laconic about the
whole thing but ma dads seems to be graduating from benin women to calabar women to different women.
I  have finished all my dictions to confront him as am no longer a child. Where do i start? how to an introduce it?
Do you mean your mum was dating the "rev.father" for a long time back-then?

Well i have have a feeling he is retaliating for Mums action and since you are all grownups he feels he has noting to loose .

Just talk to him about his health  and make him understand you still see him as a mentor .

@Ijogz K, Its so sad reading your post and it makes me weep for Nigeria thinking people like u might end up in a position of power. Education is meant to expose us to the modern World not just in the material sense, but also in the way we reason and interact with those around us. Being civil and humble is a prerequisites of this new order and you have exhibited non of these traits in your writings. What u have shown is unfounded arrogance towards the less fortunate, forgetting that no condition is permanent. The richest man today can end up being very poor tomorrow, I have seen so many mighty ones fall and those at the bottom rise to the top. These so called Ajegunle and Alakara sellers might end up employing you someday, nobody knows what the future holds. I know many kids whose parents had so much during their university days who thought it was always going to be like that, but today they can barely feed themselves. Many of them depend on the generosity of the UK government today, some of these kids went to the best schools money can buy, but are nothing today. Many of our leaders in Nigeria came from very poor background but today are on top of the ladder. Obasanjo, Goodluck the late Abiola all came from poor families but they ended up being at the top of Nigerian society.

I have lived in the western World for most of my life and the one thing I have learnt from these Americans and Europeans who rule the World and brought the so called modern civilization to Africa isn`t how to speak or write big grammar but respect for your fellow human being, even if they are less fortunate than you. To belittle poor kids because your father as money shows you have a long way to go before u can be called properly educated and civilized. Remember your situation today isn`t made in stone, anything can happen, u could easily end up begging to sell Akara in the future. But I understand wisdom comes with age, I just pray it doesn`t elude u.

pls, i want to know whether this union (nurtw) only exist in south western nigeria,
why is it that we don't hear of clashes and killings of this nurtw from south-south, north or south-east.
i have spent many of my life in owerre, imo state, but i have not heard of this nurtw of a thing not to talk of seeing a single member.

since last year, these clashes among different factions of this union have claimed aproximately 200 lives or even more than,
i am tired of all these nonsense, tomorrow, if u don't hear baruwa, u will hear tokyo, elemowo, auxilary, japan etc.
the most painful part of it, is that, the bone of contention is always ' control of motor packs'
from lagos cities to ejebu-ode, abeokuta, oshobo, ife, ibadan, oyo, illorin etc. it is the same thing.

pls what happened to south west education? i thought they said they are the most enlightened and educated group in africa.

something is wrong somewhere, pls brothers, we need resolve some ugent issues before things get out of hand
