That's a wise approach if you asked me. In fact, I'm doing that at the moment.

Started investing in domains 1 year and 7 months now and I've sold just 2.
I had to re-evaluate by reading more and starting this thread all over, now at page 355, plus reading other readables. Schedule is tight, so it's not easy.

So, I apologize on behalf of the thread to everyone who has been told to read from the beginning in the past, those who are currently being told and those who will be told in the future, who feel bad and think they've been underrated. That's honestly not the case, but explaining everything to every single new person afresh would be really exhausting. Some people are kind enough to answer repeated questions here and kudos to them.

P.S: It's not a Nigerian thing to not answer questions that are exhausting. I think most of the guys on this thread have a global mindset and it's time we stopped attributing perceived "negativity" to Nigeria; most of these reactions are really universal human characters; not all, "most".

Hope you understand and this helps you. Also, you may be right on your attempted "brandables" venture, but what they're trying to tell you is that chances are really slim that you get most of it right at this stage.

I was working full time and domain was my side hustle until covid struck. During the lockdown I realised I was making my salary which was 150k at the time just outbounding. I also got to learn the reason I wasn't successful prior to that time was my outbound timing. I work 8 to 8pm six times a week, so I only sent mails at the close of work on my way back home sticked in lekki Ajah traffic (Terrible experience).

But covid made me realize if I start outbound from 1pm to 7pm the response rate would be higher and I was closing more deals. These little things made me realise all the knowledge I gathered from this thread were valuable, I just never really had the time and opportunity to put them into practice this it influenced my decision to resign in June last year and I went full time into domains. Since then I've just had 3 months without sales but other months cover up for it if you know learn money management.

At first I was ok with $400 monthly but I saw I had more time in my hand to make more and this has kept me motivated. On the average since June 2020 I make $700 to $1k just doing domains even with 3 months of no sale cos there are months I've made $2k, $3k, and $5k

Do I regret resigning?

My family, friends and colleagues were scared for me, some felt I was making a stupid mistake but my wife trusted my decision and stuck with me and I'm glad Jehovah made our plans turn out successful. Without Jehovah, Boss Iykepromotions and my Bosses I mentioned earlier I would still be in lekki traffic

If you believe you can succeed in domain investing and you our in the work, you are definitely going to be successful.

Sure, you still can. Last time I ever used banks, was exchanged at 371/$, you should check your bank exchange rate online. But if you are able to send to other Payoneer accounts, I recommend using exchangers for higher rates, and my first-choice go-to is @Cokebar. You can try her too.

Sure that's a free traffic. It will have positive impact. I will advice you use wayback machine to find what was hosted on it before, then take the major keyword to site like hrefs, expireddomains or ubersuggest to know the monthly volume of traffic it was getting before dropping.
From that you will make your contents around that to maintain the traffic.

2. It will have positive impact if and only if you're in the same niche market like the former domain/website owner with similar product or service to promote and sell.

Notes:
-You can use wayback archive to have a sneak peek of what the former owner did and then recreate it if possible; but assuming he was doing something right. Otherwise, he would not have abandoned the geese that is laying the golden eggs except unexpected events happened.
-You can look at the backlinks profile as well to quickly ramp up your website authority for your target money keywords.

I withdrew money from my Payoneer account to my bank account for the first time in 28th of November and it is yet to land in my account since then.

I also had a similar problem, withdrew to UBA since 26th November and nothing till now.
It's clearly been more than 4 working days for you as well. Call your bank first, then they may ask you for the ARN of transaction, something like that, from Payoneer. Then call Payoneer and ask for it; I just did that today.
P.S: If you eventually have to call Payoneer, you may want to do the following:
1. Try to subscribe for an international call bundle or if your tariff allows cheap international calls, good for you; you don't know how long it might take to get a rep on your matter. I did the mtn 300 international bundle for mine, costs #300and it took just about 10mins of call to finish all I needed. The bundle gives 20mins of international calls to select locations.
This was the number I called 00916466583695
2. Get your customer ID or phone number you used in registering ready.
3. Know your security questions. If you have forgotten the answers, you can change the questions before calling, because they might ask you one or more of them.
I think that's all you'll need.

They said I'll receive the ARN within 24hrs [1 business day].
I think that will be all you need.

Try to call your bank first, you may no need to go through the process, who knows.

Why I said they are the only end users is because I saw that they have the exact Match name as their business name.

Secondly the domain they currently use is costing over $800 in registration and same thing in yearly renewal.

Unlike mine that is a com and less than $10 renewal fee.

I drop this short story of my negotiation gone wrong. Someone might learn one or two or might decide not to learn from it.

I registered a Geo domain name and placed the amount of low $xxxx

Reached out to the only buyer for the domain name and he replied with a mid offer of $500 which I posted here sometimes last month.

I rejected and said $1000 is my last.

He didn't reply anymore.

I called him, and his workers picked since its was a general office line, I introduced myself and told them, why I was calling. They quickly kept me on hold to forward the call to him the boss, and he was happy to speak to me and we talked for over 10mins and he said he could now only pay $300.

I talked him into paying $550 That am considering the economy hardship on businesses, caused by the covid pandemic.

He accepted and asked me to forward the link.

I dropped the call and forwarded the link but he didn't reply immediately, but later he replied me and copied his team members and said his team refused the payment that they could only pay $300.

I rejected his offer and told him if not $550, no deal.

His team member then messaged, and told me am being gready for a name I have no use for, and registered with few bucks, and even told them the renewal was less than 10bucks.

That I should accept their generous offer of $300.

I replied him that I am not doing anything less than what I agreed with their Ceo.

Infact am changing my price and hiking it. Even if the domain never sells.


I called the office number again and someone picked and when I explained myself they said I should wait for the Ceo and kept me on hold, but after some minutes they said he wasn't on seat.

Negotiation gone wrong.

Did I regret my actions, answer is no
People may think am ok or having sales,that's why I behaved like that towards the offers, but the truth is for sometimes now am lacking sales, as am experimenting a new technique.

Here's my opinion. Domaining is like any other business; it thrives on demand and supply principle. You said he was the only end-user. Was it something with his personal name in it? If so, then it means the domain has no competition really and his offer would have been a good one to accept. Lol about the part you said you don't mind it expiring �.
Also, I understand how annoying it can be when people try to belittle your worth because of where you come from. Also had this kind of experience on Fiverr where buyer is thinking my price for a job is too expensive and even citing that he has the same work done by customers in africa at a cheaper rate. This can be a challenge, but take heart and courage. Sometimes you just have to overlook the insult in order to make your plan pull through.
