Major roads linking Ota, in Ogun state to Lagos have been blocked by residents of the area to protest against hardship in the country.

The residents matched out in their numbers carry placards to show their displeasure towards the lingering hunger in the country.

In a video that is going round on social media, one of the protester can be heard speaking in Yoruba saying “we are hungry in Ota”.

The protest has lead to many commuters stranded as the protesters filled all the major parts of the road.

Residents of the Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State have nabbed an Islamic cleric identified as Babalola for possession of a human skull.

An X user, Uncle Deji @DejiAdesogan, on Saturday, January 20, 2023, said the cleric was arrested alongside four other suspects on Thursday and handed over to the police.

A resident, identified simply as Ayo, told newsmen that Babalola is the Chief Imam Adamo Central Mosque.

Another resident and eyewitness said that one of the suspects was caught with the human skull and he confessed that he was working for his principal, Imam Babalola.

"I have known the Imam for more than 5 years and this is a man the whole community is standing behind to pray, someone that most of us are looking up to,” the source said.

"People caught one of his men with the head and some human parts, and he confessed that he was holding them for the Imam. This was when the people stormed the Imam's house and arrested him together with four of his men,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has commended residents of the Adamo area of Ikorodu for apprehending the suspects.

A spokesperson for the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a post on X on Saturday, assured the residents that justice would be attained.

"We commend the good people of Ikorodu for doing the right thing and not yielding to jungle justice. We will ensure justice is done,” Hundeyin said while retweeting the post by an X user, @DejiAdesogan, about the incident.

A former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has urged Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu’s administration two or three years to fix the economy.
Naija News reports that Kalu made this known on Tuesday in Koli-Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, during a courtesy visit to the Ebonyi Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Stanley Okoro-Emegha.
The former governor of Abia state said Nigerians should be patient with Tinubu, stressing he was working assiduously to reposition the country’s economy and restore its lost glory.

He said, “The APC government is cutting the cloth into pieces. Before you sew a cloth you will first cut it into pieces before you start sewing the cloth; so, Tinubu is busy cutting the cloth into pieces, " So give us another three years or two years; people are suffering we understand that, give us more two years for the cloth we want to sew to be sewn very well."
