Why Senate slashed Lagos-Ibadan road budget – Saraki Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday explained reasons for the slashing of the Lagos-Ibadan highway budget. Speaking with reporters in Abuja, Saraki said there was the need to allow private sector participation in a road as important as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. “Government alone cannot reduce infrastructure deficit,” he said. Minister of Works, Power and Housing Babatunde Fashola had raised the alarm that the National Assembly slashed N11billion off the N31billion approved in the 2017 budget. Senate Appropriation Committee Chairman, Danjuma Goje, then asked Fashola to say if he was tired of the job given to him. Saraki said: “We are really pushing the idea of, particularly, the Lagos-Ibadan road, that appropriating that project from the budget does not show seriousness. “This is a road that is very viable; that is centre of the commercial activity and we should see how private sector can participate. “For example, even if you go by the budgetary allocation on that road, last year was N30 billion, this year, after back and forth, we took it back to N20 billion. “This was done so that if they don’t find private funding, we will take it up,” he said. According to the Senate President, even if the N30billion was provided, it will not be enough because that road needs about N100billion to be completed. “So, the point I’m making, which I want to emphasise, is that it is the kind of laws and policies that we pass that will encourage private sector that will make the infrastructure deficit to reduce,” he added. https://www.dailypost.ng/2017/08/02/senate-slashed-lagos-ibadan-road-budget-saraki

Lalasticlala Ogun State is coming first again, but this time again for wrong reasons |
The Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, in Ogun says the state has the highest number of quacks in the country. The Chairman of the association in the state, Abayomi Olajide, said this on Tuesday at the group’s Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference in Abeokuta. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the conference had as theme: “Anti-quackery: A seemingly unending battle.’’ He expressed sadness that in spite of the rigorous campaign against quackery, the scourge had continued to plague the profession. According to him, some members of the association are equally guilty of engaging quacks. “The war started in Lagos where many facilities were shut down and people started moving toward Ogun State. “Perhaps, we (Ogun) should be ranked highest nationally as the state that harbours quacks. Maybe, it is because of our proximity to Lagos. “From what we have seen, there are a lot of them that are thriving within the society,” he said. Mr. Olajide, who acknowledged the efforts of the state government through its monitoring team, advocated for a task force which would shut down illegal health facilities. He also called for a collaborative effort of stakeholders in order to stamp out “quacks and charlatans.’’ The forum, he said, was to sensitise the public and also “remind our colleagues of how to manage their territory so that we can actually stamp out quacks in the profession.” In his address, Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Theophilus Ogunlesi, said the war against quacks ought to have been won a long time ago. He said governments and stakeholders, however, did not approach it with serious intent. Mr. Ogunlesi, who was represented by Olusegun Feyisetan, called for a radical approach by ensuring “critical reappraisal and screening of NMA members to battle quacks.’’ Adegboyega Ogunwale, a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, in his lecture, blamed the resurgence of quacks on poor licence strategy, ignorance, poverty, illiteracy, lack of monitoring team and poor facilities. Mr. Ogunwale said prompt resolution of industrial disputes and adequate investment in the health sector as well as diligent prosecution of offenders would help in stamping out quackery. Rotimi Ogungbe, a Consultant on Health to the Ogun government, assured medical practitioners of government’s commitment to the fight against quackery. He, however, challenged the association to “name and shame” quacks among its members and also ensure that medical practitioners improve on quality of service delivery. The United States television medium, Cable News Network, CNN, has mocked Nigeria in its latest edition of “The Global Public Square (GPS)”, a foreign affairs show anchored on CNN by Fareed Zakaria. In an apparent mockery of Nigeria and her President Muhammadu Buhari, CNN, on its programme displayed at 4:59pm local time on Sunday said, “The head of state from which country has not set foot in his homeland in over two months?” It went ahead to tick an option with the name Nigeria as the correct answer. The options were given as Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Nigeria and Syria. A screenshot of the mockery tweeted by Chidi Odinkalu, Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is given below. What do you say Nigerians? Type your comments below please. Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari has been in London since May 7 on a medical follow-up. Some political delegations including the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo have been visiting President Buhari in London and have told Nigerians that the president is doing just fine and will soon return to continue his presidential duties. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/shocker-cnn-mocks-nigeria-over-buharis-continued-absence-in-country

The funniest thing is that mosf of this aides are part of those who had waited for 6 hours with red eyes very hungry |
Most of this Governors Aide aee just anywhere belle face. No thinking at all |

And there was a country Lawlesness and impunity |
Man allegedly beaten up for confronting a Nigerian governor who delayed their flight for 6 hours. A Nigerian man on Instagram, @vanladi, has cried out over the way he was allegedly beaten up for speaking up after confronting a Nigerian governor. According to him, his flight from Jalingo to Abuja was delayed for 6 hours because the goveror of the state was to join them on the trip. The airline was said to have told them they would be delayed for 30 minutes but it took six hour before they embarked on the journey. When the governor showed up, the young man allegedly walked to the governor and said: "Sir, I am a law abiding and tax paying citizen just like the other people on the plane whom you delayed from 1pm till now and we were not given the courtesy of an apology from the airline or from your office. This isn't fair to us sir and I just thought I express my grievance." Instead of getting the due apologies, he was pounced upon by the governor's aides. Read what happened after below: "I booked an @overland flight from jalingo to Abuja for 1pm today and when we all got to the airport we were told there was gonna be a 30mins delay which we agreed to. We waited for 2 hours without any information from the airline or the airport authorities. "After 2 hours, I and my colleagues got so hungry that we had to look for food at the closest location to the airport which is the Nysc camp mammy market all because the airport is at a remote location far away from the town. "All passengers at the airport kept complaining when minutes became hours and there no sign of us taking off soon. Finally at 7pm we were called to board only for us to be delayed in the plane further, few mins later the Governor of the state walks into the plane without the courtesy to apologize for keeping us from 1pm to 7pm(6 good hours). "I then walk up to him and explain "sir I am a law abiding and tax paying citizen just like the other people on the plane whom u delayed from 1pm till now and we were not given the courtesy of an apology from the airline or from your office. This isn't fair to us sir and I just tot I express my griviance" (wetin I talk bad?). "Before I knew it his aides rushed into the plane and started raining abuses on me and slapping me...dragged me out of the plane that who gave me the right to talk to "their governor" that he has the right to keep all of us till tomao if he wants to. I just looked with shock....a flight that I paid for with my hard earned money fah! Well he later called them to order and told them he wanted to see me. He explained he didn't know he kept us and I replied that his office knew and it was their job to offer apology and refreshment to us. "Later I found out even the hostess and pilot had to go source for food when hunger started dealing with them. The painful part is that passangers in the airport that were complaining and shouting to the airline operatives while we waited for the flight kept mute and others joined the aides in berating me for talking to "their Governor". "I just wonder where this nation is headed when public servants elected by the people to serve us become mini gods over the same electorate. Was I wrong with my action?" www.naij.com/amp/1117511-how-man-allegedly-brutalized-confronting-nigerian-governor-delayed-flight.html

inkon:Its possible only if 1. all particulars are correct 2. Plate numbers 3. Helmet for bikes |
Blue3k:Why won't I reply you because you are missing the fact of the matter and you fail to realize the reality. 1. Has the Appeal court deliever the its judgment 2. Why did Akeredolu send lawyer to court I'm a case that does not concern neither APC nor Akeredolu 3. Why did Akeredolu refuse to allow PRP chairman appear in court with PRP lawyers. It shows you are far fr reality. State police s not ripe in Nigeria period |
Blue3k:Am not sure you know what actually transpired. Position not legitimate. you are only confirming it that the Governor only o what pleases them. A LGA Chairmen appointed by election, you said are not LEGITIMATE. Then what is your own definition of legitimate. This was February 26. Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has approached the Court of Appeal to upturn a judgment of an Ondo State High Court barring the state government from dissolving local governments in the state. The case is due for mention at the Appeal Court, sitting in Akure, the state capital, tomorrow.Still on this matter, May I ask you is Akeredolu the PRP chairman. The Ondo State high Court, sitting in Akure, the state capital on Friday dissolved the local government executives in the eighteen local government areas of the state.Election tribunal was set-up PRP did not show up nor attend. The summary is that the Court case Akeredolu is standing on is baseless. |
davidif:You are only contradicting yourself. State Police is Good but Nigeria is not ripe for state Police. 1. When Governor Stop treating LGA like their servants 2. When Governor stops sacking, firing LGA chairmen just like a civil servant or as their normal political appointees 3. When STATE and LGA joint account ciezed to be (seperation) 4. When Governors stops arrassing their opponents because they are not in agreement with them. 5. When the Power that be stop misusing even the NPF Mr. dont just keep shouting state police, state police when you known Nigeria is not ripe |
Blue3k:Take a look at this. 1. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/editorial/supreme-court-ruling-on-lgs-tenure/177251.html 2. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/akeredolu-sacks-council-chairmen-councillors Read the two and get back |
davidif:Mr man you only quote a fragment of my statement why not quote all. State police in Nigeria current political set-up is a no no Even a small child knows that. You can call me whatever pleases you. That does not reduce my stand period |
Blue3k:That is why any bill that 1, does not separate State account from LGa account is DOA 2, Any bill that does not remove the power of Governor for fire LGA chairmen anyhow is DOA |
Blue3k:How many states have Domocratically elected LGA executives Nonbe caretaker s all of them dey put. And who controls the caretakers Nothing bad in state police. But Nigeria is not ripe for stare police |
I read with rapt attention press release credited to mr Lai Mohammed that Any programme meant for Nigeria Content must be produced in Nigeria, that is good, But minister must lead by example, So Mr Lai Mohammed first of all make this law, then others will 1. All government officials as long as they are ruling us in Nigeria must not travel abroad for medical vacation 2. Only Nigeria graduate must be allow to work in Nigeria 3. No more foreign seminars, conference for government officials 4. All government vehicles must be made/assembly in Nigeria 5. All contractors must be Nigrians Do this then others will follow. Cc.
