Okonjo Iweala has not been right all along she has been corrupt. She is the Finance Minister and so called coordinating minister. She is responsible NOT a victim She has FAILED miserably. When she came into office the subsidy budget went up about 4 X in one year HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? So the real problem was managing the subsidy not removing it.I am old enough to remember 60 kobo petrol how did it get to 80 Naira .The naira was devalued .So we cannot continue to devalue the naira go to buy petrol in dollars and expect stable prices. Since December government devalued the naira and we are buying in dollars how can the price remain the same. People are not honest and the followers do not know how to ask or what questions to ask. Yes subsidy should be removed not because it is a bad thing but because government cannot manage it
But GMB would be able to manage it No?? GEJ wanted the easy way out which was removing it and we faught against it... But we are now eager to allow GMB remove it: please let him manage it instead of removing it.

Stop it!

What we are saying is that there was nothing like subsidy.

It's a case of only about 20 to 30 percent of what we pay as subsidy that actually goes towards the purpose. The rest 70 to 80 percent is payment for something that was never given to Nigeria; the cabals share that one.
But when GEJ wanted to remove it completely.. what happened?? We occupied....

I suspect that the APC government is going to introduce inheritance taxation in Nigeria. It's a good move with onerous implications for the tax payer. One could lose up to 40% or 60% of his inheritance depending on how benevolent or malevolent the lawmakers decide to be.
There is inheritance tax in Nigeria already.. not sure of the percentage though
PoliticsRe: Buhari May Scrap Ministers Of State-punch by enigmang: 9:02am On Apr 16, 2015
AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT READ THE PART IN BOLDhuh
Farnesyl1989:
The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, is said to be considering the reduction of the number of ministers as part of his strategies for reducing cost of governance.

The PUNCH learnt that this formed part of the cost-saving proposals which Buhari presented during the All Progressives Congress’s National Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Those to be done away with are ministers of state.

The NWC which is yet to conclude its deliberations on proposals, according a high-ranking member of the APC NWC, include streamlining the ministries and parastatals.

The NWC member said, “No concrete decision has been reached on any of the issues yet. We are still meeting tomorrow.”

The meeting, which was chaired by the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, also reviewed the just-concluded general elections, the deadlock in the Taraba State governorship poll as well as the alleged electoral fraud in Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lai Mohammed, who spoke to journalists during a short break by the committee, confirmed that the NWC reviewed the governorship election.

He also said that with the “election behind us, we have to prepare the ground for the transition committee and for the business of the governance.”

When asked to comment on the proposals made by Buhari on streamlining the ministries and parastatals, he dismissed the question.

Mohammed said, “I think you have been listening to a lot of gossip; nothing like that was discussed. All we discussed was to make recommendations into the transition committee; how the government should hit the ground running and what should be the immediate, mid-term and long term policies of the incoming government. So, all these issues of ministers and MDAs, are your own imagination.

Osinbajo stressed that you can only effects the ban when the local production is encouraged and the production of locally made vehicles are fully on ground.

Agriculture is what we are known for as Africa, production of tomatoes and rice is not a problem if the efficient supports and policies are given to the farmers.

I wonder how you failed to see this in his statements.
SO in essence he is agreeing that the present governments Agricultural revolution/policy is working and is fully on ground seeing they are ready to BAN rice and tomatoes outrightly or are they just speaking from both sides of their mouth??

SergeAlain:
The venerable Prof should stick to legal matters where i hope he is well versed. if the General said this i would not be bothered.
Hearing this from the only educated member of the tag team scares me to my bones.

First. We are crying about creating employment, and we have just created a policy which has succeeded in attracting investors to build assembly plants in Nigeria, and create thousands of QUALITY jobs. Prof has just told us APC intends to reverse that process and leave the investors who believed our policies stranded mid stream. Can you imagine how difficult it will then be to attract any other investors in any sector at all? This will simply confirm to the foreign investors that our policies are not worth the paper they are written on.

Second. On the power issue. Does Prof even realize the sector has been totally deregulated and a competitive market implemented? Several IPPs are alive and well in Nigeria today, including at least 3 belonging to LASG. The National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has on its website over 100 companies licensed to do just this i.e. modular power, with over 80% already operational and supplying to industrial players (these are naturally more attractive than residential consumers who it would be a struggle to collect your monthly bills from).
All the electricity distribution companies are ACTIVELY (i cant stress this enough) looking for credible investors to do embedded power plants within their local grids. This addresses the issue of National Grid mentioned before on this thread.

In any case, non of these solutions are short term and the main bottle neck in any gas power solution right now is access to gas. There are no easy answers and APC will come to discover this when/if they win.

These people are even more uninformed than i first thought!

Nigerians please interrogate any change story before you accept it OOOH! From frying pan to fire is not a nice experience OOOH!
It is easy to clamor for change but please bear in mind that anyone you vote in now is there for at least 4 years. By the time you find out how clueless these guys are, you would have to wait for/waste another 4 years!!!

The choice is ours guys, but so are the Consequences!!!!
God bless you brother...

Some people claim that all generated power has to be sent to the grid for distribution: same set of people say lagos has shown example by building its own IPP's to power key offices in the state:
WHy totaly BAN rice and tomato...?? (except the Agricultural revolution of the present govt. is really a success) or they are just talking from both sides their mouths
PoliticsRe: APC Will Slash Tariffs On Imported Cars -osinbajo by enigmang: 3:02pm On Feb 12, 2015
Ephemmm:
It's is criminal to shot up tarrif on imported new and second hand car without a corresponding increase in local production at competitive price.
You only encourage smuggling and the resultant loss of revenue to the government by way of reduced custom duty...
You can't inconvenience Nigerians because of some cabal close to the seat of government ...promising the govt they can meet demand, which obviously is a daunting task..
So do we agree that there has been a good "corresponding" increase in local rice and tomatoe production seeing GBM said he is going to Ban it?? or is he being "criminal"
PoliticsRe: APC Will Slash Tariffs On Imported Cars -osinbajo by enigmang: 3:00pm On Feb 12, 2015
deemdeem:

Lagos already has modular power stations serving strategic locations and facilities not connected to grid.
But someone said any power generated must be sent to the grid

all power generated by any power plant in the country is channeled to a central national grid that is in turn redistributed all round the country rather than that power generated in that power plant being used within the geographical area that power is generated thereby reducing power loss during the transmission to the so called national grid

The President, however, said economic pressure might have forced the affected state governments to withdraw from sponsoring pilgrims.
He, however, promised to encourage the affected state governments on the need to change their stand.
He said, “The only thing I noticed is that various state governments are trying to withdraw from sponsorship of pilgrimage; maybe because of the economic pressure on them. But we will encourage them to do so.
