Eventually they got to Bethlehem, it was entirely a new place for Ruth, there was going to be need for her to be tutored on their way of life since she was a Moabitess. Naomi taught her the ethics of the land she has come & how to behave, in which she responded in obedience.
Ruth provided food for Naomi (Ruth 2:18) & showed selfless love & care that other people could attest to it (Ruth 1: 11-12; 3:11; 4:14-15).
Naomi lost her husband & sons in their place God gave her Ruth who exhibited love that was purposeful, devoted & never failed in adversity.
Ruth's love, respect & care for her mother-in-law was rewarded by the security of a wealthy husband & by the joy of motherhood in bearing a son who in turn, gave her a place in the ancestry of the Messiah. Even other women in Bethlehem made this supreme compliment about Ruth after the birth of her son. '...for thy Daughter-in-law who loveth thee, which is better than seven sons... (Ruth 4:15)'.
In conclusion, every woman should know that she cannot love your husband in isolation, he has parents & siblings & as a Xtian Woman you must extend your love, kindness & care to them. Ruth's love bore testing this means that your love & kindness should not be based on them reciprocating it. The Bible says we should not be weary in well doing (2 Thessalonians 3:13) & if you continue prayerfully, they will soon be won by your loving attitude. Decisions to follow God's way are always honored & blessed by God.

I pray that God will make us Virtuous Daughter-in-law, that our actions & words will be seasoned with grace. I pray that as sisters we will be Spirits controlled in Jesus name. Amen.

As donpizzle rightly remarked, tithes and offering is paid in Church.. Anything you do outside is Charity/Philantropy...
I understand your point but you see the command to pay tithe/offering is unto you to obey and the blessings afterwards is to you also.
In the earthly and physical, you dont evade tax because govt officials tend to lavish tax payers money..You still pay all the same because of the law and punishment for evasion.
The spiritual is same: Obedience is demanded..For all such who defraud tithe payers and lavish tithes, we say repent lest you face the wrath of God..Surely know unrepentant fraudstar in the guise of Man of God will go unpunished...You will do well to obey you Lord if you so believe in Him!
In conclusion, this is personal. The Church I attend dont preach first fruits, its a conservative assembly, we preach only tithe and offerings but I committed myself to it and nobody knows because I found the command in Proverbs 3:9 'honour the Lord with thy substance and with the first fruits of thine increase, so shall thine barns be full...'
Though before I found that, Ive had considerable testimony of supplies yet because I saw it I keyed into a new level of more abundant supplies and prosperity by Faith, your guess is as good as mine!

My stance is that the character God portrayed by religions is just a connotation created by Man to control the masses and give people hope of a sense of belonging. Humans are not intellectually equal, the people who crafted the Bible and all other religious books in the days of old showed intellectual prowess of extrapolation, it doesn't mean their written account is absolute; illiterate was the order of the day then and religion validation was all about popularity contest through wars and partisanship. Using Christianity as a case study: Based on the little I know about the Bible, the consequential deterministic factors to make heaven is rather almost impossible to accomplish; religious people often think they can segregate some doctrines in the Bible and live by them, yet neglect difficult tasks associated with the Bible. They think they can bribe God with mere belief, acknowledgment of his existence, going to church, paying titles, paying offers, ceaseless prayers, etc, all in a bid to escape the religiously proclaimed eternal damnation. If God exists as portrayed by the Bible, 99% human beings won't make heaven; but guess what? heaven or hell is an illusion.
