ChristineC: ten hag made the logical choice. the Dutchman is a better economic and team fit option. Felix would have operated as a false 9, which isn't certain to work out well. Everything is a gamble. With the right support system, that false 9 can be just the thing that pushes your team to a trophy I'm quite positive about the Weghorst deal. I believe we'll benefit from it |

Expert17: Van Gaal moved to cross and nod with 6'4 who go ghost and Head specialist - De Jong.
Remember, Gakpo can play 4 positions perfectly (LW, CF, AM, and RW) and he was moved to the wings to supply crosses.
Tactics bro.
Same reason our best AM (Bruno) plays from the RW in some games. A 6'4 who go host and a head specialist, but Gakpo a cross specialist couldn't find any of them for 115 minutes he was on the pitch. But Weghorst who has 15 goals contribution in 23 matches this season is not a better striker than Gakpo who has only played 3 times as a striker, and the time they faced a team that sat back and surrendered possession, they removed him from the CF position to the wings. What he did there is another story for another day |

Expert17: He was moved to the wing to supply wicked crosses. You didn't watch the game? Lol
And Gakpo is the better finisher. Who Go Ghost isn't even close. Almost all the team in Holland league sit deep against PSV and he was able to produce double figure goals and assists before December. Apart from heading, Gakpo is clear in everything. Why would you move your best striker to the wings against a team that sat deep and surrendered possession when you're looking for a goal? Was he moved to his best possession? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 10:46pm On Jan 12, 2023 |
Expert17: Original striker. With just 2 goals last season. Lol
Remember, he scored 2 goals (World cup) against a team that surrendered possession and sat deep. There is a reason Gakpo is Netherland's no 1 CF. Gakpo couldn't score against a team that surrendered possession and sat deep. That's the kind of striker we even need, one that can score when teams surrender possession and sit deep. |

Expert17: The same position that produced 3 goals @ World cup -CF. Lol we just got weghorst for 5m I think. He scored 2 or 3 goals at the world cup, with lesser appearance. He's even an original striker. You think we made the best choice? |

Expert17: He can't bench Rashford at LW, Bruno's spot is sealed already at SS/AM and J.Felox can't play CF. So what options do you want to have from the bench? No rotation? You were clamoring for Gakpo, where would he have played? |

Leyqute: Well said.
Despite this defeat, he might still win the double - or even treble.
But it’s too early for Pep to be making these mistakes. He usually overtinkers with his team towards the end of the season- UCL Q/F and Semis.
His rough patches have never been like this too. It’s usually the one game- that they’ll manage to win, and then they’d go on a WINNING run.
Even when they lose the odd game, it isn’t usually because they’ve been poor. Or that they failed to get a shot on target for the whole 90mins.
If things remain like this for the next month, he’s not going to win a spoon. You're right. City fans should be a bit worried, but tough times won't last for them and they'll be back clearing teams on their path. They may not win the major trophies, but they will be among the top contenders till the end. Pep is that good |

TeslaFC: The midfield has Fred & Casemiro written all over it.
Pep should know better than “transferring aggression” especially with Rashford’s current form. I expect Anthony to do better too. Antony? lol |

Leyqute: I didn’t say he’s not very good. I said he’s not really good with subpar players. His systems work exceptionally- but only when he’s got great players.
That’s why he cannot achieve success with an underdog like Mourinho’s UCL win with Porto.
All that talk aside, Pep’s team’s performances in the last 3 games haven’t really been up to his own standards.
If he played Arsenal, Bayern or even Brentford the way he played CheLSea (league) and Soton, he’d be beaten senselessly. That’s exactly what he said yesterday after the game (see attached pic).
Only the cup game against Chelsea was up to standard, score line aside.
That’s the truth if you look beyond biases. Results are not the only important metric in football. The performance is also important. It dictates future results. Very good coaches and teams do go through rough patches here and there. Its normal. But if we really look beyond biases, we will see that opportunities to criticize Pep like this don't come that often at all. You get very few chances in a season to question Pep's ability. For me, that shows he's doing very great. |

Leyqute: Man City had 0 shots on target. Zero. Odo. Zilch.
Pep is not very good when it comes to using subpar players. And it’s not as if the team he put out today wasn’t formidable.
The fact that this second team beat CheLSea 4-0 means Chelsea is way worse than some of you think. Pep is actually very good. Today was just not that day, plus Southampton's energy, tactics and every other thing they applied |
