I want to believe the board appointed ETH not just because he is a very good Manager, but also because he was the fans favourite. On Reddit, Redcafe, Twitter and even on this board, Ten Hag was the choice of many fans. When myself and Oasis where preaching Pochettino sermon last year to replace Ole, it was clear then that many fan wanted ETH. I joined the Ten Hag crusade, after Poch failed to win League 1. I think that was why board agreed to his conditions for accepting the Job, if we also remember Van Gaal gave him some candid advice about United. He is a very good Manager, and i hope he get it right here. This is just my personal opinion..

This thing is simple. Appoint a competent DOF with a certain strategy and philosophy. Let him have the major say on the football structures, appointments , including the manager and scouts and everything.

The most important thing is make money available to him every year.

Like we're not saying the board should scout and buy the players. Just employ competent people with vision as the DOF. If things are going wrong with the vision, sack them early enough, and replace with another competent person. Not just anyone that has played the game in the past. They go for A and if A is not available, they go for B. No wasting of time. A is not always going to be available.

Its common knowledge that you may not get your A targets. A competent board that has been in the game for years should know this. In fact, the incompetent ones know this too.

A serious board should have this discussion with the manager! This just shows he has never been in charge of transfers before. He can't start now. Instead they have the discussion and identify everyone that can fit in the style he wants to play. Its a red flag when the coach says only this player can play his style.

Nitrogen what are we going to ask next? Who is a competent president? who is a competent coach? who is a competent lawyer?

The competent DOF knows the direction the club wants to take over a period of time, and makes sure the manager aligns with that. The manager can't be 100% in charge of transfers. The competent DOF knows that you may not get your A targets, but there are others who can do well also, and get them

The board fault is not hiring a competent DOF. Caoches come and go, but a competent DOF will make sure things stay on track. This is not negotiable for a club like Manchester United that is dire need of a rebuild and wants to build a dynasty

Just be watching our previous games should have shown ETH how useless a midfielder McTominay is, he also had a good amount of time to access him in training and during Pre-season. United could have signed Neves or any other better midfielder, but the man that said he is in charge of player recruitment felt McTom is good enough. God help us this season

I know it should take 2+ years to build a new team that will play football the way ETH wants, but this transfer window should have been utilized too. As it stands, it’s one window missed. I know we still have like 2 weeks but it may be rushed or forced buying if we do any business as it stands
