It's really unfortunate. We should be able to differentiate between the roles of our players on the pitch. In that Fred role, we need an energetic somebody that can keep the ball simple and running, and keep up with the opponent pace. If Pogba is able to do this, we won't be having problems in our team at all, especially against smaller teams.

We don't play those formations. We play a 4-2-3-1. Unless you want us to switch formations just for him when he is on the field. And as a midfielder the roles often overlap. He is the only midfielder i know of that must play in exactly a kind of role or else he can't perform.

Let me tell you the truth about Pogba. In all those teams you mentioned he was not the best player or the most important player but just part of a system that worked. That is the secret to "unlocking" him at Man Utd.

We initially made the mistake of building the team around him and making him the main man rather than just buying good midfielders and slotting him in to play a role. He is not built for that. Make him a system player like at Juve and France and you will see the best out of him.

I agree with this. The team can't be built around him. I think they were trying to build the team around him because of how much he was bought. That was a mistake.

When he was used as a 10 for a short period under JM he struggled to get involved in games and people said he had to be played in a deeper role so that he can influence games.

In Juve, he had Marchiso and Vidal playing beside him in the midfield or Marchiso and Khedira in midfield beside him. In the world cup winning squad, he had Kante and Matuidi. Who was the 10 among these players?

Which role is Jogba suited for? He has been played in every single midfield position, snd with several midfielders, some bought specifically for him, in all he failed to do anything significant. All the midfielders we signed could not unlock Pogba, his mates like Mata, Bruno, Mctoms, Herrera etc excel in different midfield positions. Yesterday Bruno went to the Left wing immediately James went out and pogba and VDB entered and had a hand in all 3 goals scored after that, Mata played from the right too and excelled. But for Jogba we are still looking for the best position for him since 4 years now, he is 27 now and doesn't want to have sense. Even Havertz and Mount that are much younger than him have been played in variety of midfield positions by Lampard and still excel, but for the foo.l we still need to use almighty formula and schrodinger equation to figure out the best position to play him and best players to unlock him with. Pogba will be much better with less defensive work. Two solid CDM behind him will bring out the best in him. He shouldn't be playing from deep unless the team is playing defensive football

The inability to play line breaking passes by some of our midfielders is why we have difficulty with breaking down teams. True, Fred provides energy in the midfield but he over commits when trying to intersect passes and he usually comes up short thereby needed much time to recover and putting more pressure on the team.

If he does not improve of these aspects of his game he should be phased out of the team.

Stats should never be the main factor when accessing a player, you mentioned that he was dribbled twice. Why dribble him when he will over extend while trying to cut out a pass but fail to do so thereby falling out of position.

Lindelof, Tom, Fred, Mata, AWB and Bruno were all dribbled. Is it only Fred that's putting pressure on the team or all these ones too? Same Fred that has more recoveries and successful tackles is who you're saying "over extend and fail to cut out a pass"?

He has been phased out already sef. We should get used to our snail midfield.

This is one of the drawbacks of judging a players performance by stats alone. Fred had an okay game but most of his passes were sideways and non-line breaking passes. Most of the time he tried a line breaking pass it was misplaced.

Did you not see how poor his shots were? Did you also not see how he is always over committing himself when tackling thereby making it easy for opponents to glide pass him. He needs to improve his passing range if he wants to last at United.

Fred job is to keep the ball moving. He's not going to give you goals or through balls. What he's going to give you is the energy to keep our midfield on top. I can point to many other midfielders in that role in other top teams. He made a total of 3 shots of which 2 were off targets. Should we look at how many of Bruno's shots were off targets? Before that particular Fred shot, Bruno just hit a shot very high but you didn't say anything. The moment Fred hit his own off target, lamentations started.

Hopefully very soon, you all will appreciate that energy in the midfield. Someone that is available to hassle opponents and try to cut them off. He was dribbled a total of 2 times, Tom once. But you're saying it like he was beaten throughout the game while Tom was winning the balls back. Go and check their ball recovery stats.

I hope OGS puts Fred on the bench till the end of the season so that we can lament over a slow midfield that can't keep up with the opponent pace.

By the way, looks like something is wrong with Arnold at LFC. We don't see all those spam crosses again. He's taken more defensive role. In fact it was Henderson I was seeing down that wing most of the time

When bissaka and Shaw bombed forward Fred and tominay usually dropped to cover them forming a back 4 with Maguire sometimes free to join the attack. fred joined the attack also atimes but I don't think I ever say them join together.

Last last we need two CDMs, and one of them should have good passing range

Pogba is a fine player but he is just not suited for such role. If we need our defenders bombing forward, we will definitely need midfielders that can sit and neutralize any counters

I didn't really watch the game, can't say anything about this.

I won't even talk about Fred again make e no be like say na my favorite or I'm paid to defend him. It's just confusing when I see his effort to make sure that our midfield was not overrun yesterday and the stats confirmed that he had one of the highest attempted passes and better pass success ratio than every other player on the field bar Mata and James I think before he was substituted. Then I come on NL and I see something like "Fred can't pass". Omo na weakness.

It's unfortunate how some of us watch ball honestly. We tend to put a microscope on the players we don't like and quick to cry when any thing happens. Fred had a better game than Tom yesterday going by almost all the defensive and passing stats but we always choose to vilify Fred at any opportunity. He's not the player we yearn for in the midfield but we shouldn't be biased every time. Make una dey wear glass watch ball sometimes abeg. It's not funny anymore.

Everyone needs to track back at some point. If you expect the defenders to contribute to the attack, then the attackers must contribute to the defense either by trying to win the ball back up front or tracking back
