Should everyone earning 53k and below turn to crime? That will be around half of our population if not more. Let's know now because people don't need guns to turn criminals

If their justification for terrorizing citizens is the failure of the government, then there are millions others that are in this category and can turn to crime too. If they need us to protest on their behalf, they should ask.

The problem In my opinion starts from recruitment, Law enforcement all over the world face a lot of risk to their lives and they get poorly paid. So that is enough incentive for them to be corrupt and money hungry in a lax society like Nigeria

I remember one guy that used to harrass us in the area as teenagers joined police within 2 months he was shot by smugglers around Idi-Iroko

So its not a job regular educated and calm people will likely do. Aside the officer rank, those law enforcement on the street are usually poorly educated and poorly paid

So if you are asked to face bullets to protect people while only receiving 20K a month which wont even be paid until 4 months later because one oga has sat on your salary and you cant even protest or strike like other workers or else they will jail you for mutiny then your only source of survival is to be corrupt and harrass people for money

Look at most police barracks they are usually the in squalid conditions, very dirty, the children not properly taken care of. Na barracks boys and girls dey first tear eye beause they mostly hustle for themselves

Ehn they should take it out on their ogas. They should either protest or resign. If I'm working for a company that don't pay me enough, I don't steal from their clients but resign from there. If they want us to protest for better funding on their behalf, we will. Not stealing and harassing us. I understand that their funding is poorly executed, even I feel sorry for those that stay in the barracks. But they shouldn't transfer the aggression to us, there is only so much we can take.

Because when I dey Naija, na regular cops dey do all the things SARS are being accused of now, from running raiding van in the hood, to stop and search, to extortion, to public execution.

I mean, surely if you're aged 30 and above in Lagos, you remember how you had to have receipt for your laptop, how you didn't need foreign numbers on your phone, how having particulars in your car was pointless, etc.

Maybe all the guys that terrorised my area in my teenage years have graduated into SARS, because this shït sounds like regular Lagos police behaviour to me.

I was once asked receipt for my dvd in computer village that year. I was asked to buy beer for those police because I didn't have it. I told them that the dvd is not even working, I can drop it for them. Lmao they told me to carry my wahala and go

I think police should be allowed to serve only in their community where they are from or have family members there. That way the police are part of the communities because their wives, husbands and kids are know in the communities. They wouldn't want to misbehave when we know their family members.

FSARS can work like FBI. They have no business on the streets unless when constitutionally called upon
