armadeo: I would assume the micro economy since most remittances come through the banks.
We can like it or we cannot like it, remittances affect the economy. As we can see they can surpass the budgets of most states.
What is your own point? The Microeconomy only Benefit the immediate circle of those who run it, i n your case, if you send your Dad money, it benefits you direct family. However if you send a car to your Dad it benefits the Macro Economy. The Apps we use to remit money to 9ja are registered in Tax Heavens ie UAE so they pay no tax to the FG Anyway let me stop here. |

Sonnobax15: Good day my fellow nairalanders...It's been a while since I've been active in-here...I know how much you guys have equally missed me ,the warri guy .....But I must really confess that I've missed you all so much too...But the hustle has really got my hands so tied up
Well,I've sat and thought of sharing with you all my experience and journey so far on how I've fared since I left my bakery work for keke riding...
First of all,it hasn't been an easy journey..But I must say from the depth of my heart that it's the best decision I've made so far in my entire life....
Though it was given to me by a micro finance bank at a higher purchase price...But considering the amount of profit I usually make for myself on a daily basis after remitting the everyday #4k back to the micro finance bank is very mouth-watering .
Also, the peace of mind is top-notch....I don't have to be confronted by any boss whosoever for coming late to work or poor work output...As a matter of fact, I'm myself boss . If any passenger tries to intimidate me,I've every right to show him/her the exit door out of my keke . I remember how agberos took advantage of me at first when I first started as a novice......To the extent that I stopped working during the day, waiting until the evening when the different squad of agberos have departed the roads . Chaiiii, dem really show me shege cha
Las las,it wouldn't be nice if I don't mention the fact that "agberoism" is indeed a part of this job.... Sometimes I can't help but ponder and wonder how a dude like me who used to be very quiet has suddenly turned out to be the outspoken type to the extent that I now exchange insults with other motorists on the road . Perhaps it's something that's encrypted in every transporter's DNA
In a nutshell,my deepest regret is that I neglected this idea as at five years ago...If only I had paid heed to my old man's advice, definitely, I'd have had my own keke by now... But so far so good,I give God all the glory
Las las, I'd love to advise every jobless but aspiring nairalander out there, that there are enough legit hustling out there which are waiting for you to come and embrace them....."KILL THE PRIDE AND HUSTLE, BECAUSE LAS LAS, NOBODY GO PUT FOOD FOR YOUR TABLE IF YOU NO GET MONEY"...... You see this Zeal you got to hustle and F the rest, is what people abroad have hence the hustle hard,Big up,big up |

Why do you find it strange that I have companies and pay staff? I hire with my overseas registered companies and pay from here, what's the big deal?
My major concern is you are not smart enough to realize remittances do not neccssarly mean the money you send to keep in your bank account in Nigeria, reason you are finding it hard to appreciate the effect of remittances on the Nigerian economy.
This is me giving you a free education my friend. Wow you sent all these money from your company in west Africa? wow educate me more, oh and you send this sum via bank or App? |

armadeo: It benefits them because the money you sent wasn't generated in Nigeria. That entire amount is almost dash to the country particularly if you spend it here. Unless you just lock it up.
If the money is your account the bank uses it for business till you need it and they refund it to you. The banks take from the Economy, they are the champions of Microeconomy. The MOney you send home only ends at Microeconomy level. The true money that enrich the Macroeconomy in Nigeria are the ones generated i n Nigeria. You might argue this but lets see how you do with your points, I am waiting |

ogbonti: God bless you for the bold parts- you have already answered your own question in a bid to be boastful
Why do you think the Nigerian returning from the diaspora will need to have N50 million when he can have just $1,000 in his/ her pocket
and start working remotely after 2 weeks of living in Nigeria ? You should be advising them to come home and do remote jobs THAN telling
them to gather N50 Million first ($33,000) before they can come home when IF YOU EVER LIVED IN THE WEST - you will know most
Nigerians living abroad do not have $10,000 saved anywhere - as cash money -- after bills and expenses and supporting folks back home
IT IS LIKE YOU ARE TELLING THEM LOGICALLY - DO NOT COME BACK EVER - that is so unfair...
Life na jeje - no one is required to build a house IMMEDIATELY they return from overseas - there are apartments to rent - they will get one!
IF dem no go dey rake for town say dem be returnee - nobody see dem - nobody send dem - calm down and set up things - work and earn
And live life on their own terms and be happy in the land of their ancestors and be at peace with the universe, SHALOM! You missed the point, I saying I live in Nigeria is an Illusion, read my post well, I do not physically live in Nigeria I live in London and work there,I visit Nigeria as much as 6 times in a year cos I moved my family back there. Now this is my cos I could afford to mayB I got a good job thank God, but all fingers are not equal, if you read further you will see I said B4 making a move, do ground work, at least have a house and a vieble business that gives you good return that will give if not nearly same standard of living you have abroad. Going home with just N50m wont cut it.My individual case is way different from yours and anyone else,I am a Fluid Engineer and Im luck to be where I am,not everyone is that lucky.Im not in any position to tell a grown adult what to do howver my advice is,prepare well and also,N50m wont cut i t. |

My advice is, move out, work and immediately start to make plans to return. Have you thought of the mental health of workers i n Nigeria? They even work and do not get paid. In life, there is "NOTHING TO FEAR THAN FEAR ITSELF" -------- For all those willing to return to Nigeria, have your ides mapped out of what you want to do- raise whatever capital you can get, even if you do not have capital - your life and mental health is more precious than anything in this world - you owe no one an apology or explanation as to how you run your life - it is your life and you owe no one nothing
And when you come, there are lots of opportunities that japa advocates are not seeing - these are what foreigners see in nigeria as opportunities where the japa crew see obstacles - come home, blend in - live normal - DO NOT TRY TO IMPRESS ANYONE - and you will just be fine - and when that business starts, the DISCIPLINE you got living in the western world on money management - will ensure you do not waste your profits on nonsense - and you will able to prioritize and unite tasks easily where those who see obstacles fumble.
you have been exposed to western life and it's sophistications and that is real life experience no one can take away from you ---- you know too much already of the real world than you give yourself credit for - come back home, put it 2dega and MAKE IT HAPPEN! ------ E K AA BO!!!! Just pray you never get to a point where returning will be close to impossible.
You will know why 20 years abroad is not a flex. You think thru don’t want to come home? It’s because there is nothing to show for those years. They believe their status is secret being abroad than relocating back where everyone will know.

demoBaba: BEDC
The situation where consumers served by BEDC electricity distribution company, we're having and experienced a significant delay in receiving prepaid electricity meters we applied for. They appear to be manipulating the system by preferring estimated billing, even though it results in unreliable electricity service, because it allows them to receive more payment than the electricity they provided. Essentially, they are benefiting from a system failure. This highlights a problem with both the BEDC's meter rollout and billing practices, and the consumers unethical actions.
Could you believe that BEDC has only one team installing meters for all of Ekiti State, and that this team is primarily focused on Ado LGA., strongly suggests a servers capacity problem. It's highly improbable and raises serious questions about the company ability to provide timely service to the entire state. This explains the significant delay in meter installations, the preference for estimated billing ( even with its flaws), and the potential for widespread consumer abuse. The concentration of resources in Ado LGA., while the remaining 15LGAs., suffer demonstrates a profound lack of equitable service distribution. This raises concerns about potential favoritism or mismanagement within BEDC. I dont realy know much about your state but in Rivers state I found ut that the people responsible for Prepaid are diffrent from PHCN people. If you go fru PHCN, its a long wait, however if you go fru those guys is less than two weeks. |

I hate people who tell you to look at so and so they have it worse than you. Stress is relative. One person could lose 1 deal, 1 relationship, 1of their loved ones, and that causes them to commit suicide.
Another person could have their whole country wiped out (Palestinians) and still wake up grateful to be alive and keep it moving. That was not what we talked about, you are getting the tail End of it. I started the conversation with Stress in the Uk is the stress people living in banana island go fru.Now Im sure you know banana Island, Now at this point I was not delving into work related stress as you can not measure that in this context talking about the kind of stress that comes to you when you did not ven do anything to deserve it ie No electricity, Insecurity, going to the ATM to collect money and your card gets sucked in ,Bank network down and you cannot use online banking, No network in your phone even though you have credit., School strikes for 5 months Can you even Imagine as a civil servant in the west Month comes and you do not get paid, can you even imagine recording the stress you going to pass through? |
