maasoap: Honestly speaking, this is one of the aspects I rate Nigeria system very low. Things like car loans, mortgage, student loans, etc would have made many Nigerians grow economically and financially more than what we have at the moment. Using 20 million naira to build a house when mortgage with little interest would do the job and invest such money to make more money My last count, I spent nearly N80M to build my house, all paid upfront. But here is the twist, if the banks in Nigeria notice you have few millions in ur account they will ofer you juicy loaans. |

MT: Why are you comparing yourselves to benefit earners ? How much is the benefit that you make it sound like it’s a whole lot?
The benefits are being continually reduced and lot of these people are being pushed to work. As a benefit earner, you can’t even invite anyone from your family in Nigeria to visit you. The visa will be turned down automatically because they are seeing like “beggars” who are being fed by the govt.
Most of these benefits earners are homeless as the govt can’t provide enough housing for them and the landlords do not want them as tenants.
Is it the life of benefits that you want? May you have it then benefit earners are not homeless, certain people knowing make themselves homeless so the state can house them, I gave a section 13 and 18 otice to a tenant, and the council housed them after 6 onths. Now the man is delivering for Amazon, the council cannot ask him to quit as he is working pastime and living there still .There is a lot people get away with in the Uk trust me.Do you know if ur Mum is old you can have a mobility car and pay just £50 2wards it each month and its a brand new car? |

MT: Those opportunities available for those you mentioned are not available to you. You are black and occupy the lowest rung of the ladder.
Do not deceive yourself. You need to work in certain settings, be part of the elites for you to imagine yourselves in those space. I am a US passport holder but I do not receive myself.
You were not even birthed in the states, there’s a ceiling place on your head without you knowing. Most Americans are poor and the wealth of that nation is concentrated in the hands of the few. You guys are sharing the remnants among yourselves. Do some research and you will see the bubble.
Do you think you have the same chance as the whites in the US? You are wrong and this write up you just did is based on assumption, stereotyping and full of prejudice. I am a manger and above band 8, I manage a team of 12 supervisors who are from every nationality and they in turn have up to a group of 16 men with them. I am Black, I am a Nigeran and I'm proud. In the west you will face racism, in Nigeria you shall face tribalism, the watch word for you is to face the reality on ground and deal with it head on. Every battle had been won by a strong headed person. I have friends who are Lawyers, barristers ,some even mayors. We al Nigerians. Go to the ministry of justice, the home office .Unless you are telling me the USA is different? |

Af0nja: Toilet cleaner sold his soul and manhood for money. Toilet cleaner is toilet cleaner, bank manager is bank manager.
Toilet cleaner cannot buy the class with money. how about if he now moves from cleaner to sales person, then supervisor then manager?cos do not forgt, this is a society where things work, nothing like man know man i think that was the narrative the Op was trying to potray.I don't really think anyone from Nigeria will want to be a toilet cleaner until they retire |

Gerrard59: That's true which applies to everywhere. Most humans are average at best. Globally, the highest earners are few in number. The difference I've noticed between a country like Nigeria and other developed countries are the availability of economic opportunities to earn a good income. Now this is where the west is different, do you know people who do not work in the Uk live in free houses? And the law stipulate that you pay everyone at least minimum wage? Some persons actually earn and live well than those who earn. is Sweden for women etc. |

AutoConsult: No bank manager cannot afford a mansion.
If you've been doing bank teller for years, and you call yourself a banker, well maybe you might not really be able to afford a house. Put things in the right perspective. Saying a toilet cleaner abroad is better than a bank manager in Nigeria is completely out of place. It shouldn't even be on the front page. Its a proverb, but people have taken it literally |

MT: You mentioned the cars your warehouse guys drive and I had to correct that warped impression you are trying hard to create.
Without apologies, you are typing nonsense. You are just unnecessarily hyped up. I advise you quit whatever you are smoking that made you to attempt to say toilet cleaner lives better than bank manager.
Though you made it clear that you are uneducated and it reflects in the way you type and reason. If you were miserable in Nigeria, some dudes are killing it in the same Nigeria.
You are living in a bubble. The West create that lifestyle to give you a false impression of who you truly are. You are even nobody in the states.
Always be humbled. That was not me, i do not work in a ware house Im a fluid Engineer. So you have gone off track mate! |

Mary Barra - CEO of General Motors started working for GM from secondary school and rose to CEO.. And mostly importantly can change his/her career to become a doctor/lawyer/engineer unlike in Naija You are very correct, I have seen one in both a petrol station and a McDonalds. |

MT: It’s more of a cultural thing. Africans pay for all they own. They prefer it. The West create a bubble to make you feel you are okay, meanwhile you are buried in debt.
So why making it sound like your colleagues are driving cars which they fully paid for? Debt is the way the world works, have you not seen it? All developed countries are in Debt, but Nigeria is in debt yet we are not remotely developed. Its such a bad idea for one to pay upfront for their car when they can invest tha money in something that will bring money. However if buying a 90K car is ur cup of tea so be it, like that guy said if you like drive a lambo or a roly no one cares here. |

MT: Most of what you typed was misleading.
It was shocking that despite claiming to live in the US for many years, you could not understand that those cars you wrote that your warehouse colleagues were riding were being financed and not fully paid for. They must pay certain amount, depending on the choice of car, every month, otherwise the car will be taken from them.
You mentioned many countries and made US to be king of all without any justification. Each individual has a unique case, and you can’t just generalise.
Maybe your lack of education made you think a toilet cleaner is better than a bank manager in Nigeria.
This is why the whites call blacks names; how you guys try hard to even bring this topic to the cyberspace is shocking. These new sets of japa are the worse, individuals with no hope of getting visas are now having gullible opinion.
Mr. Man, you have just penned down gibberish. You aint got a clue, so are you telling us that there are no finance facilities in Nigeria? sometimes I wonder if yah think B4 you type. Ask yourself the quetion, why dont everyone in Nigeria who works and earn go to a finance company to buy a new car?WHY |

Gerrard59: Fair assessment depending on location. And yes, that's a middle class lifestyle by Nigerian standards. Every bank manager earned more than 500K even before I did NYSC. So, by now, the minimum should be 1.5M per month. Bank managers are big boys in Nigerian corporate world. Im not resigned to bank managers alone thats at the top end, Many people on here don't even earn up to N500k a month is this not Factual? |

steeltrust: I moved to america with out an education or skill I got a part time job with ups and at same time was eligible for career choice meaning any school I want to go they will pay I decided to get my CDL to drive a truck which pays better After that I I found another job with Amazon full time while I’m still working with ups and hold my CDL and about transitioning to trucking department but when I got to Amazon the feeling was different
I got a whole lot more offers Like learning how to drive forklift Learn Amazon robotics Learn Amazon web services and also got a career choice to choose from list of schools to advance my self and move to the management team if I want to Currently I’m doing a bsc on cybersecurity Fully paid for by Amazon And mind you I’m still with ups part time I’m planning on leaving ups and move to Amazon full time once I get my schedule changed from Monday to Friday cause my normal schedule are Tuesday to Saturday I’ve 60hours work week and I earn 23$ an hour In Amazon while I earn 21$ with ups Why I choose Amazon everything is automated From picking to stowing To packing, buffering, sorting etc But ups is all manual and the management are too hostile but In a I love ups still cause it my first job in the US
Come to Amazon or ups and see cars small boys or 19-23 years drive and you will wonder if it a warehouse job
I’ve meet some nigeria and all of them have their own cars and living on their and doing very well
I’m not downgrading Nigeria but the truth is our leaders are wicked and the worst part their are some evil people who support their wickedness just for selfish and wicked reasons And yes a cleaner in Amazon is doing so well than a bank manger in Nigeria Even before I started school and all that I’ve access to benefits in both ups and Amazon but I picked Amazon cause their benefits are top notch If you’re not a billionaire or a millionaire in Nigeria you can’t even think of having a life insurance As I’m talking to you I’ve 246,000$ worth of life insurance which I service with just 0.34$ every week to stay updated so when I die my family will have something to fall back on I got all this as a mere warehouse worker I’ve not even mentioned other benefits cause you will be shocked
When people come online and talk nonsense Nigeria is better I just laugh I had that mind set till reality set in and I moved and I thank God I wasn’t late
Here in America you can be a school dropout and still make six figures No one is bigger than anyone here If you like drive Lamborghini no one cares
In every country they have their own up and down but you see america, Canada, Australia, uk, New Zealand, Norway,Switzerland, Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy are better but America na the king of all
Do with this little information how ever you deem fit Those who have eyes let them see God bless ur hustle bro,im so glad you listened to your heart and jumped on the japa train, to God be the glory, you was not late. |

Ferdinandu: Abeg this is slave mentality. You have been brainwashed to believe that life in the West is Eldorado. A place like US is Eldorado but the suicide rate there is 10 times that of Nigeria. The number of people who died of violent crimes like mass shooting, Gang violence is 5 times more than people killed by kidnapping, banditry and terrorism. Check facts and confirm. West is far better than Nigeria but choosing a low job like cleaner abroad over bank Manager is Slave Mentality you guys read too much meaning to a simple statement, This toilet cleaner might be a starting point for most of out great leaders we have today. Gerrard59: When I was in Nigeria, I think the manager at my parents' bank's branch earned more than a million or 1.5M naira per month. Unfortunately, I don't have exact figures. I will ask a friend. But assessing the friend who works in one of the top banks in the country, as at 2019, she participated in the bank management trainee programme where she earned 250K+ per month. Stanbic was even paying graduate trainees 350K then (rumoured to be the highest then amongst all banks). So, now, a bank manager shouldn't earn less than 2 million naira per month, I strongly believe.
P.S. Please don't mention the naira to the pounds or dollar as those currencies aren't spent in Nigeria. Bank managers earn in naira and spend in naira. Im not silly to ref Naira to pounds, I am fortunate to live in both countries and well equip to compare with no prejudice. Fuel for a week cost average ofN100k in ur gen, cost Average of N100k a month in ur car.you might spend N500k on food in a month ,security might cost N60k,I paid mine N100k for personal reasons.so in NIgeria I can comfortably say to live a middle class life your outgoings might xceed N500K do you agree? |
