They're faced with those vices or menaces mentioned by you, no thanks to their religious bigotry. They always get the lion share but their religious inclinations keep making them poor. Give a northerner 1m naira and give a southerner same 1m naira...while the southerner would invest the money and turn it over into multiple of millions, his northern counterpart would stay, he would eat all the 1m naira today because he believes Allah would provide another 1m tomorrow, even more. They're too blind to know that same Allah is the author of organisation. God could have said He would drop all the rains needed in one year in 2 months but He never does so. Rain would fall in it's time , harmattan would come in it's time for reasons...there are crops that would need each weather to thrive. Oil palm for instance thrives in harmattan than in the raining season.

Furthermore, there are women whom God had blessed with skills, those who would have lifted their families out of poverty and provided good education for them.
