The Bayelsa COVID-19 Task Force on Sunday announced that the state recorded one more death, bringing the total number of death cases in the state to 20.

Dr Jones Stowe, Director of Public Health and member of State’s COVID-19 Task Force, made this known in Yenagoa.

Stowe said the state also confirmed four new cases on Saturday which brings the total confirmed positive cases in the state to 322.

  “As of Saturday, we have 127 active cases in our isolation centres at the Niger-Delta University Teaching Hospital and Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa. 175 cases discharged and a total of 20 deaths,” Stowe explained. “Please, we should adhere to Public Health Advisories to reduce transmission.

“Always keep social distancing, at least two meters (6 feet) distance between you and anyone. Avoid crowds. Always wear a face mask in any public place.

A 28-Year-Old lady identified as Clara Vincent has died from suicide after having a disagreement with her husband.

According to reports, the lady was pronounced dead on arrival at the General Hospital, Isolo, after she was rushed there from her residence at Ebewi Street, Agodo area of Lagos state.

The case was reported to the police by the cousin of the deceased, Mr Lawrence John, alleging that the husband was involved in the death of Mrs Clara.

Mr Lawrence said, “My cousin, Clara, was said to have taken her own life after drinking sniper. She was rushed to the General hospital, at Isolo, where she died.

“We were surprised that the husband had packed up the body and ready to take her to his hometown in Umuezeala in Imo State for burial without the knowledge of her family members.

We suspect that the husband killed her based on the misunderstanding they had in previous times.”

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of relief materials to 662 households affected by wind and rainstorm in three local government areas in Kwara North senatorial district.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the affected local government areas are Kaiama, Baruten and Edu.

The agency distributed materials made up of food and non-food items to the affected persons in order to ameliorate the impact of the disaster they suffered and enable them restart their lives.

The items included 662 bags of rice (12.5kg), 662 bags of maize (12.5kg), 662 bags of beans (25kg), 66 bags of sugar, 66 kegs of vegetable oil and 1,300 pieces of mattress.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2020 governorship election in Edo State.

The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

According to the statement, with the released list of candidates set to contest for the 2020 governorship election, no political party can adjust or change, either by withdrawal or substitution of individuals in a political party.

A Man identified as Moses, murdered his friend, a 29-year-old man identified as Abuchi Wisdom Nwachukwu over N13m account balance in Edo state.

Recalling how it all started, Ekohotblog gathered that the bitterness started after the friend, Nwachukwu, informed the suspect that his South Africa based elder brother sent him a considerable sum of money for the completion of a housing project in Nigeria.

Nwachukwu was hacked to death during a night shift at the table water company where they worked in Auchi, Edo State.

The killer also went on to behead Nwachukwu’s lifeless body before dumping the headless body in a bush close to the company.

The personal assistant of a young tech entrepreneur who was found decapitated and dismembered in his Manhattan apartment this week was arrested early on Friday and is expected to be charged in the grisly killing, according to two officials briefed on the matter.

The entrepreneur, Fahim Saleh, 33, was discovered dead on Tuesday afternoon by his sister inside his $2.25 million condo in a luxury building on the Lower East Side, the police said. She had gone to check in on him after not hearing from him for about a day.

She found a gruesome scene: Mr. Saleh’s head and limbs had been removed, and parts of his body had been placed in large plastic bags. An electric saw was still plugged in nearby.

Nigerian father, Prof Amaechi Ndubueze has demanded an investigation into the death of his son, Knowledge Uzochi Ndubueze, a medical student who drowned in a Russian River.

It was learned that Uzochi Ndubueze an indigene of Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia, had left Nigeria to study medicine in 2018 at Yugoslavia State Medical University.

And was reportedly dead after news that she drowned in a Russian river last week.

The bereaved father, a lecturer at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), said he received a call around 3:30 pm on July 9, informing him of his son’s death. Prof Amaechi said:

“It was his guardian who stays at St Petersburg: another city different from Yugoslavia State, where the boy was studying that called to inform me about my son’s death.

When I asked him what happened, he told me he was not there with him to actually say what happened.

“But according to unverified source that spoke to him, the guardian, he learnt that the boy went for a picnic with others at a lake where the boy was said to have drowned and died instantly.”

“The news of my son’s death is rather unfortunate because we did not hear that he was sick as he has no previous sickness. So we suspect a foul play.

We suspect that they are trying to use drowning to cover-up.

Gunmen kill immigration officer, Salisu Usman and his sister before kidnapping his wife in Nasarawa.

It was reported that the immigration officer and sister were allegedly killed before the gunmen made away with his wife.

The incident happened at Gudi, the ancestral home town of Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule, in Akwanga local government in operation on Tuesday.

Speaking to The Nation Newspapers, father of the victims, retired ASP Usman Salisu, said the gunmen scaled the fence to gain access before firing three shots at the Late Sa’adatu through her window.

The body of the 33-year-old was found headless and dismembered in his luxury Lower East Side apartment by his sister who became worried after not hearing from him in a day.

She also discovered in the apartment, a power saw which was still plugged in was and was used in the entrepreneur’s murder.

Ebonyi State government has announced that schools in the state will remain closed, until further notice The Deputy Governor, Barr. Kelechi Igwe made this known in a statement signed by his Press secretary, Mr. Monday Uzor.

A high court sitting in Osun State, on Monday, July 13, 2020, convicted an internet fraudster, identified as Timileyin Awojodu, for defrauding an American citizen of the sum of $2,500.

The United State police have found a body in the lake where glee actress, Naya Rivera went missing.

The Nigerian lady, Temitope Arowolo who was accused of theft and Attempted murder in Lebanon has landed safely in Nigeria.

The House of Representatives on Thursday met with the Lebanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Houssam Diab, during which an agreement was reached on the extradition of 31-year-old Nigerian lady, Temitope Arowolo, who is being prosecuted in Lebanon over alleged theft and attempted murder.

A Nigerian man identified on Twitter as Savn Daniel has cried out for justice for a 14-year-old girl identified as Princess Micheal whose vagina was allegedly burnt with a lighter by her madam, one Mrs. Yemi Awolola.

According to Daniel, the victim’s father had taken her to the house of Mrs. Yemi who is a deaconess at Living Faith Church, Barnawa, and lives in the Barnawa area of Kaduna State in June 2019.

President Muhammadu Buhari appoints Mohammed Umar as acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to oversee the commission pending the trial period of the commission’s former chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) stated these on Friday in a statement by his spokesman, Umar Gwandu.

Gwandu also announced the suspension of the former EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu to allow for an unhindered inquiry by the Presidential Investigation Panel under the Tribunals of Inquiry Act and other relevant laws.

Nasarawa State Members of the cabinet are to commence fourteen days self-isolation with effect from Friday, July 10, until their COVID-19 test results are out.

The State Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Dogo Shammah, made the announcement and noted that the move is a precautionary measure to monitor the spread of the virus.

A 35-year old man, identified as Christian Alisigwe, has been docked by the police for allegedly macheting his 4-year-old son, Ebubechukwu Alisigwe in Ihite Azia in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Anambra state police command has arrested some carjackers who allegedly attacked, and killed a 45-year-old businessman, Enoch Nwosu before taking his car away in Anambra. The suspects were identified as, Emmanuel Nwafor, 23; and Chukwuebuka Obi, 21, both of Amichi town in the Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State.

According to the report, the carjackers had attacked the deceased, Nwosu on the Amichi Road in the Nnewi Local Government Area of the state, and reportedly took him to a forest where they killed and dumped his body before fleeing with his car.

Confirming the report, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Haruna Mohammed, on Thursday said the corpse of the victim has been recovered.

Sixty four healthcare workers and the Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in Nasarawa State have tested positive for COVID-19.

The chairman of Nasarawa Medical Association, Dr Bulus Peter, made this known in an interview on Saturday.

Mr Peter noted that his result was confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

He noted that he was already receiving treatment at an isolated part of his home and was responding to treatment.

Five nurses and two mortuary attendants working at a private clinic in Ugbeyiyi, in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area have tested positive for COVID-19.

It was learned that the hospital was earlier sealed off up by Delta State Ministry of Health monitoring team after a pastor who died of Coronavirus was secretly treated in the hospital.

Sapele council boss, Eugene Inoaghan, disclosed this in a statement He said while the five nurses are linked to the private hospital, the two morgue attendants were attached to Sapele Central Hospital.

He added the all seven patients have been admitted at the isolation center where they are currently responding to treatment.
