A middle-aged man was on Wednesday evening reportedly found lying in a pool of his blood by the roadside after been hit by a car on Ihiala-Owerri road in Anambra state.

The yet-to-be identified man was pronounced dead by doctors in a nearby hospital.

Also, the identity of the driver who hit the victim is still unknown as at the time of this report.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Andrew Kumapayi confirmed the incident, saying the body has been deposited at the mortuary.

He said: “An unidentified driver crushed a yet-to-be identified male adult along Ihiala Owerri road today 20th January, 2021 at about 1712 hrs.

“The yet to be identified man, according to reports was found lying in the pool of his blood by the road side after he was run over by unidentified driver.

“Rescue team from FRSC Ihiala Command was alerted, on getting to the scene, found the man lying in pool of his own blood, and there was nothing to identify him.

“He was taken to Arch Angel hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, and his body has been deposited at mortuary.

“The DPO Uli police station and his men were also at the scene of the crash.”

The FRSC boss added, “Moreover pedestrian should be watchful when walking along the road and not be distracted. They should use the safest means of crossing the road if need be.”

Former member of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abdulmumuni Hassan Ningi, has been released six days after been abducted by kidnappers.

Xpresstv learned that Mr Ningi was released on Wednesday evening and safely got home around 11 pm.

A family member of Mr Ningi, who spoke to press said, “we are only grateful to Allah that our brother is back home hale and healthy though he is traumatic due to the experience.”

He added that the “next thing is to give him the required medical attention in order to make sure that he is okay,” saying, “we will also ensure that he is psychologically stable before he returns to his business.”

Donald Trump granted pardons to rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black on Tuesday night as part of a last-minute spree that saw Trump issue clemency to many political allies on his final full day in office.

Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, pleaded guilty on a federal weapons charge last year and received a full pardon. Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, received a commutation after being charged in 2019 with falsifying information on federal forms to buy firearms.

Bradford Cohen, the attorney for both rappers, confirmed the pardons to Rolling Stone. “President Trump and his administration have been tireless advocates on behalf of the African-American community,” Cohen tells Rolling Stone. “These pardons are a perfect example of this administration following up on its reforms and commitments.”

Last November, Carter was charged with one count of possessing a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. He had previously pleaded guilty to a felony gun charge in New York in 2009 and was eventually sentenced to a year in prison.

The new charge stemmed from an incident that took place December 23rd, 2019 in Miami-Dade County in Florida.

The police in Kano have arrested a 20-year-old housewife, Suwaiba Shuaibu, in Doguwa Local Government Area (LGA) for allegedly stabbing to death her husband’s 17-year-old fiancée.

Police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest in a statement in Kano on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on January 1, at Gimawa village of the LGA, according to the police.

The police said investigation revealed the deceased and the suspect’s husband had been having an affair for more than six years, and were due to wed on January 9.

“On January 2, at about 10.30 a.m., a complaint was received from one Kabiru Jafaru, of the same address that the body of his 17-year -old daughter, who got missing on January 1, was found in an uncompleted building in their neighborhood.

The Federal Government has issued a directive for schools not to ask for COVID-19 tests from returning students.

Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Goong, relayed this in a statement issued on Monday.

The statement said: “No Covid-19 Test Required for Resumption of Students. The Federal Ministry of Education says no Covid-19 Test is required for returning students to be admitted into their schools.

“Only temperature checks should be carried out on students and any other person crossing any school gate.

“School authorities should therefore refrain from asking students or parents to undergo covid-19 test before they are accepted in their schools.”

A Nigerian human rights activist named, Kenechukwu Okeke has been a significant subject on social media after he said he would sue international media body, CNN, for investigating the lekki massacre.

Ekohotblog recalled that CNN had revealed in a 5:50 minute video what happened on October 20, 2020, at the Lekki Toll Gate.

According to the CNN report, lives were lost and several others injured, which counters the government’s claim that there were no lives lost at the scene.

Shortly after the video went viral on Twitter, Kenechukwu Okeke took to his page condemning the act.

According to him, it is preemptive and contemptuous to discuss, counter, or conclude on any testimony placed before any tribunal established by law.

Okeke added that it is all an attempt to ridicule the nation and the sovereignty of the judiciary panel.

He noted that because of this, he would initiate criminal contempt proceedings against all the @CNN staff (without any exception) for deliberately ridiculing the majesty of the courts or any tribunal established by law in Nigeria.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday pronounces to guardians and understudies to surrender trust in the resumption of scholastics in tertiary establishments.

Kogi State have recorded a total sum of 20 new cases of leprosy after an earlier claim that the state was free of the disease.

Briefing journalists in Lokoja yesterday at the COVID-19 response palliatives distribution for communities of persons affected by leprosy and disabilities in the State, the State Programme officer, Leprosy Mission  Nigeria (LMN) Mrs Hannah Fashona explained that the new cases were recorded between January and November 2020.

Fashona, who said the organization was determined to ensure that Nigeria is free from the disease,  added that  the state referrer center located in Ochadamu in the eastern flank of  the State had succeeded in treating some patients affected with the disease.

According to her, it is on record that due to fear and lack of knowledge, over 3 million people across the world are living with undiagnosed leprosy while causing more damage to their health.

The LMN programme officer added that more than 600 people were diagnosed of leprosy in the world daily, saying that over 50 percent of those hard hit were the children.

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has said that he died in the car crash accident he was involved in 2019.

The actor narrated his ordeal via his official Twitter account on Monday, sharing a picture of the badly damaged car.

According to Yul Edochie, the ghastly car accident occurred while he was heading from Lagos, to the east in 2019.

Yul Edochie said he actually died in that accident because the last thing he remember was a blackout after a voice told him it’s over.

Surprisingly, he survived and has dedicated his second chance to spreading the word of God and helping others.

He said, “In 2019 I actually died in this accident. My whole life was flashed before me in a second & a voice told me ‘it’s over’, then black out,” “But God gave me a 2nd life.

A 15-year-old housemaid, identified as Bahijja Gombe, has reportedly committed suicide in an apartment where she worked in Kano.

Sources asserted that Bahijja murdered herself by hanging, adding that no note was given up expressing the explanation she took the lethal choice.

The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, who affirmed the tragic incident, said Bahijja was discovered hanging in the condo.

He said her cadaver had been cleared to a medical clinic mortuary. Haruna said the order has dispatched examination concerning the issue to unwind conditions encompassing her demise.

“We got the report around 10pm on Saturday that one Bahijja, 15-year old was found hanged inside a house where she was functioning as the house help,” he said.

International R&B singer, Jeremih has reportedly been hospitalized in Chicago after contracting COVID-19.

The 33-year-old singer is currently in an Intensive Care Unit on a breathing ventilator, TMZ reports.
