Technicalities about a judge allegedly not sitting in just one of the sittings of a trial that took about 3 months, while leaving the main substantive matter? Well, time will tell.

The crux of the matter still remains the fact that base on the Electoral Act, only the Presiding Officer has the power to cancel an election which should be at the Polling Unit level. But the Returning Officer illegally cancelled elections in some polling units which gave rise to the supplementary election full of intimidation. This is what PDP expects the Supreme Court to decide upon today.
Anyway, let"s wait how the Court decides.

Politics / Re: Miyetti Allah Calls For Establishment Of fulani Vigilantes In S-east by escodotman: 4:55pm On Jun 20, 2019
Looks like the agenda is real and the plans are well in motion. "Vigilante" in the Southeast, then Southsouth and Southwest may later follow.
Why is it so difficult for these people to let go of their 20th century method of cattle rearing by roaming around the country and embrace the civilized way of ranching?
Politics / Miyetti Allah Calls For Establishment Of fulani Vigilantes In S-east by escodotman: 4:52pm On Jun 20, 2019
…we’re not against cattle rearing, but—S-

…police bemoan lack of personnel
ENUGU- THE Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders
Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has called for
establishment of Fulani Youth Vigilante body in
communities of the south east, to compliment
its host community counterparts and other
constituted security apparatus in the zone.
The cattle breeders made the request just as
the South east Governors told them that
nobody in the zone was against rearing of cattle
but that it was paramount for everyone to
understand that there are rules of engagement
in every relationship, including that of herders
and farmers.
In the same vein, the Nigeria Police Service
Commission, PSC, lampooned the yearly
recruitment of 10,000 policemen, saying that it
was a far cry from meeting the demand of
police personnel that are in very shortage in
the country.
The security stakeholders made their remarks,
Thursday, during the South east Security
summit organized by South East Chambers of
Commerce, Mines and Agriculture, SECCIMA, in
collaboration with South East Governors Forum,
SEGF, in Enugu.
Speaking as it affects herdsmen, the National
President of MACBAN, Alhaji Mohammadu
Kirowa regretted that once insecurity was
mentioned in Nigeria, the first idea that comes
into minds was Fulani herdsmen.
Represented by the National Secretary, Alhaji
Baba Usman Ngelzerma, MACBAN noted that
south east was a good host which was reason
why it condemns all forms of violence and
criminalities with its patrons such as the Sultan
of Sokoto, the Emir of Kano and the Lamido of
Adamawa.
The group however said it wants an
establishment of Fulani Youth Vigilante group,
noting that “the Fulani Youth Vigilant body will
be working with the security, the neighborhood
watch or vigilante to ensure security in all
communities, as it was done in Enugu state.
“We will solicit for your support and
cooperation in adopting dialogue where
problems exist as a means of brokering peace
and to report cases against our members to
either the Fulani Youth Vigilante Group, state
or local branch of the association,” Kirowa said.
Chairman of the South East Governors Forum
and Governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. Dave
Umahi who was represented by his Deputy, Dr.
Kelechi Igwe stated that the region cannot
engage in policy of exclusion to limit any
farmer or herder, but that rules of
engagement should be observed in every
relationship.
Igwe said “We will continue to accommodate
the Miyetti Allah but our plea to them is that as
we are magnanimous to allow settlers, every
community has a custom that need not to be
violated. It is the violation that breeds
problem.
“I believe that at the end, resolutions will
generate further national dialogue, promote
agenda setting and a solution to the lingering
national insecurity. All we need is the good
idea of one or two men to find direction and I
believe this summit will do that.”
On its part, the Commissioner in charge of
Human Rights in the Police Service
Commission, Mr. Rommy Mom lamented the
inadequacy of the Nigeria Police personnel,
noting that today Nigeria boasts of under 350,
000 police officers.
“This translates to 1.6 police officers to every
100,000 Nigerian, which is a far cry from the
world standard of 225 police officers to every
100,000 people. In some local governments,
you have less than 10 police officers.
“Lack of data is a major challenge to the extent
that even the Inspector general of Police is not
very sure of the exact number of police
officers under his command. Electronic data is
very important,” Mon said.
He also stated that it was high time Nigeria
embraced the use of Information
Communication Technology, ICT, and other
equipment for policing the country.

In a very short publication for that matter! This is why we're where we are today in Nigeria, we keep defending sheer incompetence for very mundane reasons.
"sheer incompetence" over a typo. error... Empty barrel makes the loudest noise. If you went to school, then why do the textbooks, which are suppose to guide students and refine them with knowledge, still contain typo. errors despite the due diligence put into their publication? Wherever you are in Nigeria, you should know that Vanguard Newspaper is not responsible for it.

Isn't it strange that APC have never held any "emergency meeting" over the numerous killings and destructions of lives of the Zamfara people that have been happening in this same state for years now?
Hilariously, APC remember that Zamfara is no longer in their pocket and within hours, "emergency meeting" was summoned!!

Victory is sweet. Just imagining how the house of the PDP's governorship candidate in the last election would be flocking with crowd of friends and family..... On a lighter note, how would the PDP plan a well-organised handing over ceremony within 5 days? What about the transfer of power of from APC to the PDP, all within a 5-day period when other states commenced same since March/April.....

Politics / Re: Akpabio Was Not Suspended From PDP, He Defected – PDP Claims by escodotman: 9:51am On May 18, 2019
Truly, where is Akpabio's honour? What did he want to gain by fraudulently obtaining a fake expulsion letter?
The "uncommon defector" made a lot of noise like he just won the Wimbledon Grandslam when he defected but claiming now that he was expelled. Wonders shall never end.

Politics / Akpabio Was Not Suspended From PDP, He Defected – PDP Claims by escodotman: 9:47am On May 18, 2019
The Akwa Ibom State chapter of Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted claims
by Senator Godswill Akpabio that he was
suspended from the PDP.
Akpabio, a senator representing Akwa Ibom
Northwest in the 8th National Assembly had
told a Federal High Court on Friday, May 17,
2019 that he moved to the All Progressives
Congress (APC) after being suspended from the
PDP.
This was sequel to a suit filed by an advocacy
group, Legal Aides Assistant Project (LEDAP)
which sought to remove Senator Akpabio and
53 other members of the National Assembly
who defected from one political party to
another in 2018.
Delivering judgement on the case, Justice Okon
Abang tilted to the position of the former
governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill
Akpabio.
Justice Okon Abang said, “Having provided
evidence that he (Akpabio) was suspended from
the party (PDP), the defendant (Akpabio) was
free to move to another political party.”
Apparently irked by the ruling, the PDP in Akwa
Ibom State has accused Akpabio of fraudulently
obtaining the expulsion letter.
PDP alleged an ex-member of the party,
Ntiedo Usoro who served as Essien Udim Local
Government chapter Chairman issued a fake
expulsion letter to Akpabio in which the latter
tendered before the court.
In a statement released by Comrade Ini
Ememobong, AKS State Publicity Secretary, on
Friday, the party claimed there is no way
Akpabio would have been expelled at the local
government level without concurrent expulsion
at the national level.
The party’s statement reads thus:
The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the People’s
Democratic Party has read a news item flowing
from the judgement of a Federal High Court
sitting in Abuja, presided over by Justice Abang
wherein the trial judge held that Senator
Akpabio led evidence to show that he was
expelled from the People’s Democratic Party
and therefore was justified in law in ‘moving’ to
the APC.
We state that nothing can be farther from the
truth than the transparent lie of expulsion
shamelessly spewed by Chief Akpabio. We
make bold to state that at no time was Chief
Akpabio suspended or expelled from the party.
Chief Akpabio had announced to the world on
August 8,2018 that he was defecting from the
PDP to the APC in pursuit of National interest
and to stem the tide of defections at the
National Assembly.
In fact, at different campaigns, he mocked the
PDP as being empty since his uncommon
defection . At no time did he mention the issue
of expulsion, which has now become his
creation as a lame defence to keep his seat. He
conspired with Ntiedo Usoro, the then Chapter
Chairman of Essien Udim to illegally write a
letter of expulsion to him and back date same.
The said Ntiedo having completed his
assignment, later defected and joined Chief
Akpabio in the APC.
This ignoble comedy which has been taken
beyond sane limits is most condemnable and
dishonorable. It is indicative of the total exit of
honour from a man whom many erroneously
held in high esteem. There is no way that
Senator Akpabio could have been expelled by
the party, without the concurrence of the State
Executive Committee of the party. There is no
record showing the existence of such a punitive
move undertaken against the senator by his
ward or chapter executive council. Expulsion is
a process and not an event.
We know that the disgraced senator is running
from his shadows and questioning karma, as his
conscience is putting him to remembrance of
how he masterminded the suspension and
eventual expulsion of his predecessor, Obong
Victor Attah from the Party(though the act was
reversed by the National Exco of the party). His
successor, Governor Udom Emmanuel and the
incumbent party leadership under Obong Paul
Ekpo have decidedly made themselves
unavailable for karma to use against him.
Nigerians are not fools and cannot be deceived
by double speak and greed propelled
dishonesty, but they may be amused by face
saving but disdainful comedy, scripted and
acted by an uncommon National Comedian.
Senator Akpabio should count today as his
lucky day, because if our great party had been
joined in that suit, his fake bravado would have
evaporated, exposing his real and inherent
cowardly character and paranoia-influenced
mindset.
We warn Senator Akpabio to desist forthwith
from including the PDP in his serial lies. He is
history to us, for all we care and soon, will be
history to his Senatorial District- people who
have sent the disgraced senator on compulsory
political retirement.
A brave man should prepare to face the natural
consequences of his actions and not to engage
in perennial doublespeak, disgraceful
pendulum motion and irreverent redefinition
of established terms.

It is hard not to believe that some forces in the APC are using INEC to get back at Okorocha, to cause crisis over this election. Why INEC decided not to issue any candidate a certificate of return and never made any announcement on any next line of action or plans to re-scheldue the election until Okorocha himself took the matter to court is beyond human comprehension. You witheld certificate of return and then kept quite, was INEC trying to deny the people of the senatorial district representation in the senate?

So what about Justice Mary Odili, who has been a Justice of the Supreme court all these while?? Incase you don't know who she is, she is Peter Odili's wife. A former Governor and founding member of PDP. You did not hear APC shouting about that all these years. Eberechi Suzzette Wike is a judge of the Rivers State High Court of Justice. She is married to current Governor Ezenwo Wike and is the First Lady of Rivers State since 29 May 2015!!! SMH
In case you don't know how the Supreme Court of Nigeria sits on any matter before it, let me educate you. The Supreme Court usually comprises of 5 Judges who deliver judgment on any matter brought before them and no single one of them decides any matter single-handedly, not even the CJN. The Judge PDP is requesting her stepping aside is the President of the Court of Appeal and wife of an APC senator-elect. In case you don't know her functions; she selects judges to sit on any matter brought before the Court of Appeal! In the case of the Presidential Election Petition, according to PDP, she has appointed herself as the chairman of the Appeal Court panel of the judges to hear the case should it get to Appeal Court.

I fully support the PDP over this step. Looking at the trend of the pre-election cases that arose from the shambolic and disastrous "primaries" of the APC, the Appeal Court tried to give soft landing to the party in most cases where they ought not to have participated in the election, cases that are self-inflicted injuries by the APC including the Rivers case.
Thank God for the Supreme Court which ensures Democracy is always protected. Another show of bias was the Osun Election which the Appeal Court gave the APC yesterday. The hope is now in the Supreme Court to do justice and set aside the bias Appeal Court judgment as usual.

Politics / PDP Asks Justice Bulkachuwa To Recuse Selffrom Presidential Tribunal by escodotman: 5:54am On May 10, 2019
ABUJA—The National Working Committee, NWC, of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday asked the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, to excuse herself from the Presidential Tribunal sitting over the petition filed by its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku is contesting the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as winner of the February 23 polls.

The party premised its rejection of Justice Bulkachuwa’s membership of the panel on the grounds that her husband is a Senator-elect from Bauchi State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC.

PDP added that it would be difficult to convince any reasonable person that she will not discuss the case with her husband, who is an interested party in the case.

The party stated this in a letter to the justice dated May 8 by its National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and National Secretary, Senator Umaru Ibrahim Tsuari.
