EducationRe: Bank Phb / Skye Bank Education Loan by Ess: 10:43am On Jul 01, 2008
wills:
I have been in contact with the Bank Via, Email and also visited 3 of its branches to get a good understanding of this product on offer, personally I think, except a better deal comes up from other banks, NGO ,co-operatives, Communities and good willed people who are willing to bank roll peoples studies in the UK or any other Country where we all seek education of a better quality, then the Bank PHB UK education loan is it.

Here are a few answers to Queries i sent to the Bank via Email. And there answers

1.I will like to know the interest rates on this loan? ----The interest rate is 19%

2. What’s the difference b/w a sponsor and a guarantor?----A sponsor can also be your guarantor

3. If my guarantor provides acceptable collateral, is he still required to service the debt over the tenor of the facility? -----Your sponsor or guarantor must be servicing the interest monthly or both the interest and principal. The collateral is just an addition comfort to the bank.

4. Provided I have met all the required payments (the 20% equity contribution and down payment 10% of the tuition fees) in the UK education loan account, how long will it take to process the loan facility? -----To a large extent depends on your collateral. For shares -3 days, legal mortgage- 3 weeks, fixed deposit 2 days etc

5. Must my sponsors or guarantor be residing in Nigeria ? Yes

Other info, I got from my visit to there branches are you have to open the account, make a deposit of 10% of the tuition fee. Then get the loan application form, apply for the Loan, provide all the required documentations, if or when your loan is processed you will have to make a 20% equity contribution of virtually the total sum you will require i.e. (tuition fees, accommodation, air tickets and sustenance)

Hope this help clear the air,If you have to, then do it, nobody said life was going to be easy, weigh the risk, with the future advantages and make a decision, and what’s more banks are not charity they are profit driven.
Please elaborate on the bold part. Thanx

Definately cant be N19 19%per month, 19x12=228%. Haha even Armed robbers better pass this now, 19% of 5M = 950000.
If i fit pay this kind money every month I go just wait till next season b4 starting my studies now. by then 6month go done do and i would have made extra N700,000. So case close on wether na monthly or annual pls. It is definately annual, and it seems fairly reasonable because the duration is 4years, but as som1 said do what pleases u.

Many thanx, well appreciated.
Sorry, inserted wrong quote previously.

I noticed the list there is quite old and some companies are not listed. There was another list attached by I think is Samstone (not too sure tho) that contains a current list of the companies. Infact Fo2 gave a special gratitude to the list at that time. It was in January, let me go through all the pages i guess while waiting for some one with it to attach.
Sorry for being adamant but I need it quite urgent.

Dont know about FIDELITY though because i have not been looking. Yeah go for LINKAGE if you can get iti think Pumping777 don commot that one for ground and pray you don't get caught by TS

Goldlink and Universal assurance have just listed and they have been doing 5% to the upside so i think good for CICO or RO-RO. They will be going on TS but not soon i suppose because they have just been listed they will push up the price a bit so hopefully you get your timing right.

Please do not over-expose yourself to the ins sector its a minefield as has been said so many times on this forum.

Its your CALL!

@ Gees,

Most times, the loosers chart is usually more important than the gainers chart for me.
I compile the list of consistent loosers from monday to Thursday for two to three weeks, look at them critically and determine who is more
likely to start a new round of profit making.
I bow for the Father chei!!!

May I be the first to mention this: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY IN ADVANCE! This thread will tomorow be exactly one year,
Im not a contributor but a listener/learner for awhile on this forum. I wish to congratulate and thank all the esteemed members for their untiring efforts to keep it alive and profitable, lol, not gonna start mentioning names because the list will be too looong but to the conservatives, the steady and slow, the predictors (25%), the cautious(field marshals), the pumpers, the insurers, the risk takers (wemanians) the fact finders, the number crunchers, the list goes on even in the summary, smiley. The old gurus that are sitting back and letting the new gurus fill in with valuable information too and lastly not forgetting the moderator (i suppose its the Seun sha) for starting the topic.
God bless us and wish many more happy returns next year.

And there goes another tribalist, cant we Nigerians ever come to term in our actions? Whats the hausa got to do with this now. I thought the hausa's were not ruling for 8 years now. Please stop putting ethnical sentiments in your judging on such national issues.

Hey guys whats happening? there seems to be some silence in the house! Well I wish all is fine and hope to hear from u all soon. Another pointer, i have notice the gradual decline of some shares recently including ashaka, dansugar, even 1st bank, costain and many more. Could this be a market turn around or just one of those periods in the stock market and will bounce back to its bullish trend?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Ess: 12:45pm On Jul 13, 2007
@ All,
Please can someone explain to me why Ashaka has been dropping and is there any hope for it rising especially with Obajana making its move to the market?
