monchat: The VO will just denial yr 18months son and y visa money gone. It is not advisable at all dear. D'nt allow the small boy get 2nd denial again I beg u. The VO will just reject him straight ahead without even asking y grandmother much about him. U can not just apply for 18months son alone, he has to apply with the parents not grandmother. U can employ a house help for him when grandma travel or u put him in a crèche. Ps u and y family should prepare to reapply again and work on the reason (s) why the 1st visa was denial. This one that you are so sure of this 'denial'... If the grandmom has the authorized permission/consent from the parents and she can conveniently convince the VO. Then why not? My concern is that it is like killing a mosquito with a hammer. The child's visa is not a threat to the embassy IMO as children's visa are usually tied to the parents or guardian. |

If I may chip in the advantages of visiting US for tourism...
For me I like the wide spread of the country hence making you have plethora of states and a plethora of tourists sites to visit. Lets take LA and Las Vegas, they are neighboring states and hence a visit to LA and a bus ride to Vegas can only mean double pleasure as both states have way so many places to sightsee and catch fun.
New York is a country of its own sef, Florida, DC and so many other states all with a single visa. To me it is similar to having a shengen visa where you may tour so many European countries but this one without the hassle of border control.
I never get tired of Las Vegas, there is always a new thing to explore there...the site is simply heaven on earth. Also with the US you may be mistaken for an African American depending on how you "package" yourself. |

NanaOne1: Hi Guys,
Will attend my graduation next week and want to know whether the entry clearance officers sometimes ask the amount of money one is carrying. Will be staying at a hotel costing about $500
How much money would you recommend I have on me
Thanks They may not ask since it is not medical visit. On how much you should carry depends on the days you intend to stay. Lets say a day is $100 for transport and food...(on the high side) Hotel already taken care of... $500 Shopping...depends on how deep your pocket is...could be in thousands! Only you can determine how much you need. |

vanod: The reason is simple, the Hausas cannot overstay in the USA or reside in western countries. because those countries don't welcome nor encourage polygamous family (eg) 2 wives or more, that is why they run away from staying permanently in these countries. they prefer the suffering here not that they're happy being here but religion and 10 wives mentality is they undoing. my 2 cents. There goes bigotry in action. Its a shame how you can just sit and conclude for a whole community like that. A whole lot of the educated Huasas are not polygamous...do your research well before attacking! Hausas are just not so concerned with such lifestyle and mostly prefer to be going on vacations. |

salsera: You can charge on most Arab airlines. Use USB. Not sure WiFi is free on Qatar may depend on your class of ticket.
There's entertainment I.e TV, movies I'd say eat before your flight...airplane food is small. Relax Use transit time to rest and catch up on messages. Most airports have free WiFi. Find a place to sit and rest near your boarding gate there are always officials around who can help me you locate your transfer gate. Some airports have wash facilities and toilets. Keep your valuables with you always even when sleeping. Thieves dey everywhere.
Enjoy the view and take pics...you wont be the first person to fly so please enjoy your first time .
Since you'll have 2 long flights plan yo get some sleep in the air. Jetlag is serious so take the opportunity to sleep when you can. Good set of advise there...however dont over eat before your flight with foods that can be toxic to your bele. I and my friend once took a bottle of coke each about 2 hours to our flight and we suffered the whole flight and the transit airport with running stomache. |

smithutomi: hello seyewest, please I need your advice. my flight will be arriving at JFK by 3.25pm. I want to make booking for greyhound bus scheduled for either (5:15pm or 10:15pm). i don't know how long I will spend at the airport POE. so please, which of the time (5:15pm or 10:15pm) do you suggest I book for?...looking forward to your response. Regards If I were you I would definitely do the 5:15pm. You can contact the company NOW to confirm if you can do a free change just in case you get delayed because mostly these buses don't get filled. 2 hours is ok if there is no delay with the flight or at the airport and also it depends on where the bus terminal is located at. At times your flight can arrive earlier than the time specified. So make more inquiries to make an informed decision based on these points. |

Please gurus help I have a student visa to a school in Nebraska. My student i20 form states that my resumption date is 15th august and my earliest arrival date is 15th July. I had booked a flight set to arrive JFK by 11th august (friday). My reconnecting flight is from JFK to the schools location on same 11th aug.
I hope I wont have cbp troubles as I am obviously 4 days earlier than the resumption date. You can go anytime between 15th July up to 15th August I suppose depending on things you need to do prior to resuming. Simple English as stated. |

kraba: Hello all. Got to the US today via Doha with Qatar Airways. I travelled with wider and our 4kids.
The trip itself was pretty stressful cause we had an 8 he 55minutes layover in Doha after a 10 hr 15minutes Lagos-Doha connect as against the usual 7hr 30mintes it took before the Qatar crisis.
After a total of like 37hrs (that"s adding the 4hrs spent at mmia) we got to JFK terminal 8 on schedule at 3.15pm local time and the place was pretty scanty.
We used the automated scanner and after a few minutes queue, it was our turn. The CBP Lady just shared jokes with the kids while she proceeded to stamp US all in for 6months, no questions asked, not even "why are you here ?" We thanked her and left. It took like 5minuyes to stamp each of the 6pps and the machine receipts.
Fast forward to agric after we collected our bags, we had declared that we had things like garri, egusi, ogbonna, yam flour, groundnuts etc. We itemized the food items and the cost in USD in the i-94 given to US on the plane and also answered in the affirmative to the question on good in the automated process.
The officers just asked whether we were sure we had no prohibited items and asked us to jave a pleasant stay.
Getting a ride to our accommodation was a bit dicey. The Uber guy showed up then said he couldn't take 6. I had to cancel and got charged $5 Eventually had to pay $55 to Bròoklyn for a ride with one of those "kabukabu" guys who brough a minivan. The yellow vabs eanted us to pay for 2 Cab that would have set me back $75 per Cab.
On the whole JFK was pretty stressless at least the terminal 8 I used today. In 2015 I booked via a site (can't recall the name) for an executive car to Brooklyn for $60 with my wife. I later figured I didn't need the luxury for that price but it was too late cos i paid directly. |

9jaStar: Actually, if they're traveling as a family, they only fill one form, so anything over $10k has to be declared on that one form. My family and I just returned from an international trip a few days ago and I wanted to fill different forms, they said no. Just one and declare everything there My advice would be to rather open a domiciliary account, deposit at least half the money there and get a USD-denominated debit card that they can use while here. This is a plastic-heavy country and it makes their lives a lot easier Exactly what I want Seyewest to understand. seyewest: But they won't be hassle for bring in more than $10k as family. Declaring it is what matters. Let me quote the CBP officer when I asked him about the $10k and above; "You can bring much as you wish but you have to declare it" |

seyewest: No not at all... it's just right.. meanwhile you can hold more than $10k which you can divide between your wife and your self. It still stands as above $10,000 which they have to declare if they wish to split it since they are traveling together. Save yourself the declaration and hold the $9k and use your cards if need be. |

Thanks for your anticipated response. Just one was to the US and wait time was a couple of hours. There is definitely a hotel and meal tickets provided but qualifying is the issue. There is also a sightseeing tour available also but im not sure how it works. Try make an international call to their customer care to clarify. The evisa is also possible but it seems too expensive since you are there for less than 24hrs, I would consider the sightseeing option. Turkey is beautiful and full of historical places, I will stress again that the citizens arent too nice so mind ur biz as possible. |

nextedge: Please is there anyone here who has travelled with Turkish airlines to the USA? I have found out that on return journey you have a layover of 22hours at Istanbul. I want to know if there is hotel provision by the airline for those hours or it's OYO(on your own). And if it's on your own, what are those things one can be doing in the airport to while away time? It's a family of four. I need answer from experienced person(s).I mean those who have used the airline before. Thanks Note: ticket is already purchased. I have used the airport 3 times. On 2 occasions there was no long layover. However on one I had about 8 hours, they denied us meal ticket because they said there was another flight available at the time I purchased our tickets. The airport is ok, you can walk around, eat free turkish delight (local sweet), eat at their numerous joints tho quite expensive. It is a busy airport actually. Time can fly fast especially if you purchase the internet service, cant remember the amount but it wasnt so much and is paid using your card details. Hope this helps a bit. NB: Turks are not so friendly, so you might wanna mind ur own business. |
