I think this tradition of Omugwo need to be revisited and perhaps scrapped off. With the rate of Fashion crazy that ladies have gone now, and with a high rate of transactional sex atmosphere, soon most grandmothers will be such that have waist beads, leg chains, ring in their nose, multiple earrings in their ear, and tattoos all over their exposed body parts. Also, they drink alcohol heavily and smoke non stop. All of these portray a lady that has low or no sexual morality. Imagine such grandmother going for Omugwo. The son in law will be her new client, especially if he is rich or handsome. People have no sexual boundaries these days. Omugwo should be scrapped off before it is too late.

A mother can briefly visit her daughter once in a while, but going there to stay for months or weeks, at a time when her daughter just delivered and too weak to have sex with her husband, is a time bomb waiting to explode. The man will want sex, and the mother in law body with her sluttish sense of fashion, will enter his eyes. One thing will lead to another.

I usually tell people that the best place to find a wife or partner is on Nairaland. Anyway depending on what the guy needs in a lady.

1. You can easily sift out those who are conversational and can hold meaningful and lengthy discussion on very many different issues. And you can also sift out observers and those who respond with either one word or with emojis. Such ladies cannot hold any meaningful conversation in real life. You hang out with them and if they are not talking about nonsense, then they will just be pressing their phones non stop. Because they don't know what to say. Nothing dey their head. It's empty. Once I see such ladies, I run very far away.

2. You can easily sift out ladies who can respond to questions and criticisms calmly without having to resort to insults and emotional drama. Once I notice any lady that likes to insult or that is an emotional drama queen, I run very far away.

3. You can pay attention to her words and get a picture of the elephant in the room. Who is nice is nice. Who is not nice cannot pretend to be nice for long.

My opinion is that while it is not wrong for a lady to visit her married sister or married cousin sister, that visit if possible should be limited to a day's visit. If you are staying for days, book a hotel room. Same with females visiting their female friends who are married. That is not an excuse for the husband to lose self control with his 3rd leg, but the sea does not drown who does not come close to it.

My opinion is, let the younger sisters of the man be the ones to visit for long days. And let the younger brothers of the wife be the ones to visit for longer days. In that case you maintain extended family unity, and also prevent the scandal that happens with spouses having sex with relatives or friends of their spouses.

Forgive me if you don't like this opinion. But I see it as preventable. In the olden days, there is a reason why it is the sisters of a married Lady who carry her luggages on their heads to escort her out of the compound on the day of their traditional wedding. And they are the ones who do ashoebi and stuffs for her. By and large, they are doing her a send forth. As in BYE BYE. They get to see when they get to see. Not jumping on the next available road trip to her house. No naa. You forget that female siblings and female relatives have similar kind of beauty. Unless he is a perfect gentleman with self control. If not, the same features that attracted him to your sister will also attract him to you.
