Career › Re: Man Shares The Things He Allows As A Gen Z CEO Running A Tech Company In Lagos by Esthered: 6:46am On Aug 30, 2025 |
flexyrule: Unrelated to this GEN Z thread...
I kicked off my career in one of the top financial institutions. We resumed at 7:20am sharp, and you don’t close until the vault balances - technically, there was no closing time. You fit enter branch by 8pm, all man go dey face computer like the day just started.
Dress code? Non-negotiable. Strictly blue or grey suits, paired with white or blue shirts, with black shoes. Two Saturdays every month were always taken from you either for one training, Monthly Review or ATM monitoring.
The environment? Fast-paced, unpredictable, and unforgiving. One minute you’re in operations, the next you’re shipped to another department—no notice, no excuses. And you’re expected to perform like a pro in weeks.
Targets were wild: ATM cards, Internet Banking, account reactivations, deposit mobilisation, and even shares. Imagine being in operations and still having a deposit target! 😅
Truth is, I hated that job. The atmosphere was always “hot,” even with the AC blasting. But looking back, it shaped me. It was a battlefield that drilled you, stretched you, and squeezed out your best.
If you could survive there, you could survive anywhere. If you could make it there, you could make it anywhere.
That place was tough… but it made me tougher.
I always stood out among my peers in all the other organisations that I joined afterwards. My commitment to work, passion for getting things done, dedication, dressing, my carriage, customer service skills, email/telephone etiquette, etc.
Sometimes.. It's good to start your career like a soldier!
Awoooooooooooooooooooooo! Warrior with a blue blood spotted |

Beyond the phone call the father received, was he aware of the activities of his son?
The neighbors that heard cries every night without doing anything......they may have saved him. I don't know why there aren't street associations anymore. It could have been escalated to the chairman of the street.... |

ednut1: its happening on dating apps. My female friend showed me two examples of men in their 40s claiming 30s on dating app. Dey play Does it have to do with increasing their chances in the dating pool? I'm surprised as I grew learning that men never age in the dating scene and have the upper hand therefore set the rules most times. |

Xso666: Thanks for your contribution but I was adviced on this forum not to involve our parents here and I followed that and now this is happening and I am lost and don’t know what to do at this point Did you ask an experienced person to help you calculate before making these assumptions? You didn't say if the messages you saw on her phone showed evidences of her cheating. She only disobeyed you and was still chatting with the person. The foundation of marriage is trust and if it's not there, it can rarely stand firm and even if it does it's because one party is still tolerating the other person till they've had enough to leave. |

correctyourself: That lady has been hobnobbing with that guy according to the husband, and lying to her husband, let him involve their parents and the question you raised here would be asked and they know what to do, he can;t handle the matter alone, it started like play, but look at what the man is saying today because somethings ways over-looked. I agree that he complained about her but then let him calm down and calculate correctly, work back to their last encounter....before making assumptions that may destroy the marriage. |
