CrimeRobbers Raid Houses, Force Housewives To Cook For Them! by etunoman76(op):
Armed robbers raided some houses in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos, forcing the house wives to cook 'delicious meals' for them while they robbed. It's quite funny but also brings our security situation to the front burner, cos according to the report, the robbers operated for close to 4 hours without any hinderance.
On the lighter side, someone shud have added 'ota pia pia' to the food na! grin

ilugunboy: My guy as long as you don't stop and pick or drop passengers on the roads or bus stop...you have absolutely nothing to worry about...Lagos is home to all law-abiding Nigerians and Non-Nigerians....we need you all to turn the city into a truly mega-city that we dream of....but you need to obey the laws.
Thanks man, for taking ur time to explain the contentious issues

alj harem: then you don't have to register my brother. Your vehicle is no brt or danfo thus the law is with you whether for business or not
My guy, the agberos in LASTMA are more like zombies on a one lane track. Will they be able (patient enuff) to differentiate a Lagos resident from someone that's there temporarily?

ilugunboy: I wondered how many people commenting here even know the difference in appearance of a commercial vehicle license plate number and that of a private registered plate number? grin cheesy
Oga, I sabi that one na. Commercial - red in colour and that of private is blue. Did I miss out anything? Lol

ilugunboy: If you use your private car registered in another state for commercial passenger transportation, you will run foul of the law if caught.
What if I don't use it for commercial purpose and im staying in the state for a long period, say 4 months, for bizness. Does that qualify me as a resident? And if yes, that means I'll have to register with the state govt for a new plate no and documentation
PoliticsRe: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by etunoman76(m): 12:01pm On Oct 04, 2012
obasy09: The title of the report is misleading and I hope the poster did not do this intentionally to either discredit Lagos State Govt or to make sure that the topic generates traffic.
A simple comprehension of the report will reveal that only commercial drivers that are resident and operate commercially within the State are affected. The commissioner clearly stated that interstate vehicles are not affected. He pointed out that only vehicles that pick passengers along Lagos road (irrespective of whether intrastate or interstate) will be penalised or required to have Lagos driver licence.
What about the issue of private car owners? Still trying to understand d logic behind the part that concerns them

ogugua88: This is true. I give credit to some of them trying, but like in Fashola's case, I think there are more pressing issues that need attention first.

I'm an apprentice winch so the pay is menial for now. My duty post is in the Caymen Islands, near Mitt Romney's bank accounts. I don't mind the low wage. The place is beautiful cool
I believe provision of more infrastructures and strengthening of security should be priorities.

ogugua88: I agree. Our leaders are fond of not always thinking things through.
Some of them do have good intentions, but no workable plans in place, which often lead to failure/abandonment. I had a rather painful experience some weeks ago. The rot in the system can be frustrating some times

ogugua88: You didn't get compensation or an allowance for a vehicle? That's usually how it works here, so I'm not too sure. Usually companies provide transportation and housing for contract workers.
Come to think of it, since u are in the States, it must be pretty late there. Are u working late or just trying to keep in touch with the happenings in Naija? U don't have to answer that, tho

ogugua88: You didn't get compensation or an allowance for a vehicle? That's usually how it works here, so I'm not too sure. Usually companies provide transportation and housing for contract workers.
I'm into private practice. I think the govt shud take a critical look at the part of the private car owners. I envisage a lot of abuse on the part of LASTMA.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by etunoman76(m): 7:13am On Oct 04, 2012
ogugua88: I think we need to see the full contents of the law. If they're copying the US, then these drivers need to provide proof of permanent residence or gainful employment. It's a good idea, but I do have questions pertaining its timing as well as its requirements. A lot of drivers, especially okada men, don't have permanent places of residence. If you go according to the California law, if one doesn't have a residence, then gainful employment is required. Is being a driver considered gainful employment?
I am a civil engineer and gets a building contract in Lagos that'll take about 4-6 months to execute, and I decide to travel down there with my car for ease of transportation, with the intention of going back to my permanent base in Abuja. Does that mean that I'll now have 2 pairs of plate nos and double registration, one for Abuja and the other for Lagos?
I'm trying to comprehend the logic behind this particular part of the law

Believe it or not, I met my wife on the social media, Badoo. We got married last year October, and I got to say she's the complete package to me. I have been thanking God for making our paths cross. Yes, we do have our differences and stuffs, but man, she means everything to me. I LOVE HER SO MUCH!
PoliticsBayelsa To Immortalise Sani Abacha by etunoman76(op): 9:53am On Oct 01, 2012
The Bayelsa government wants to immortalize the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha for creating the state 16 years ago today. His family has been invited for the celebrations and a 150 duplex housing scheme is going to be named after him. What are ur thoughts on these moves?
AS Bayelsa State marks the 16th anniversary of the creation of the state, the state government has announced its decision to immortalise the late Gen. Sani Abacha.

To this end, it has concluded plans to lay the foundation stone for a 150 duplex housing estate, which would be named after the late military Head of State who created Bayelsa State on October 1, 1996.

Governor Seriake Dickson announced this in his broadcast to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the creation of Bayelsa State and the 52nd Independence of the country.

According to Dickson, government in partnership with the Ijaw National Congress (INC), has christened the main auditorium of the INC secretariat after Abacha as well as invite the family of the late General to be part of the celebration and also plant a memorial tree in his honour.

This gesture, which is coming 16 years after the creation of the state, would also be used to honour the first civilian Governor of the state, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, for his commitment to the Ijaw struggle by naming a hall after him in the INC building, which was started by him.

Governor Dickson also paid tributes to those he described as worthy Nigerian leaders like President Olusegun Obasanjo and late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua whose actions impacted positively on Bayelsans, stressing that they too would be honoured in due course.

BusinessRe: Nigerians Flock To Buy UK Bargains by etunoman76(m): 4:38pm On Sep 11, 2012
I like d way this topic is being treated. I believe govt should make biz in d country competitive, especially the manufacturing sector. Look at what is happening in the telecom sector ( I know we aren't there, yet). Capital flight hurts the economy. I believe steady power supply will go a long way in taking care of most of this issues. Producers/manufacturers would be compelled to reduce cost of their products if the cost of production is reduced. Also, d issue of double, and sometimes triple, taxation should be addressed.
And come to think of it, stuffs are still relatively cheap@shoprite here in naija, at least the one in Abuja.

COOLDUN: This is another FIRST SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE AWARD by the most confused president of a dummy dominated country. Before I used to hear a word that says, let honors be given to those who honors are due for? But what today we are seeing a government who dishes out awards to people with questionable characters all in the name of retaining power in the next election. What and how has these awardees impacted in the lives of the masses in Nigeria? Majority of these awardees are not even known in the country. This is high time Nigerians should stand up and act or remain seated and be acted
upon.

And the excuse would be that most of the aforementioned people have not been found guilty, so they deserved to be conferred. Arrant nonsense!

I have not heard that a nobody was rewarded for one good attitude since I have been watching these awards. Why?

Recently I read about how a school boy returned a wallet that contained the sum 250,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty, Thousand Naira) that belong to the school authority in one of the South Western states of Nigeria, why can’t the federal government reward such an honest student in order to encourage other ones in the society? This will not happen because his parents are nobody, and cannot deliver a voting numbers for the government. Must the Awards be for only the politicians, business moguls, academicians; chieftancy titled ones, and well placed in the society? Next year we shall all see how people like Lawan Farook,Marline Oteh,Hembes,Umaru Dikko,James Ibori,D.Alemesiaghe, and co will be awarded the best awards in the country. What a failed state?
