MikeCZAR:
After the war with BH priorities will shift to socio-economic needs, your un-standardised equipment will be unoperational soon after the war.
dont be dumb, perhaps that is what would have happened in another scenario, but with ISIS practically knocking on our doorstep,i dont think so.
In a way,ISIS is a blessing in disguise.it would give our leaders enough incentive to continue arming and training our military.Nigeria has gotten a taste of terror in form of boko haram,we wouldnt want to be caught vulnerable in the claws of a greater demon- ISIS.
after defeating boko haram, our next priority will be arming the military for armageddon.then defence agreement with algeria, egypt, niger, chad, sudan and tunisia{all bordering with libya} should also be sought.we need countries bordering libya to cooperate and work with us in flushing out ISIS and restoring sanity back to libya.
if libya remains destabilized, then insurgency will always emerge in africa.
Use you brain for once

Henry120:
The continued deterioration of the security situation in Libya should be a major source of worry for our politicians and military.
To think we participated in no small part to the current state of anarchy in libya is another reason why we need to actively take into cognisance the effects of our decisions/support.
This is why deep interjection fighters like the SU-30/27/MIG-29smt shouldn’t be a luxury for the Nigerian Airforce, but a necessity. We don’t want to be caught flat-footed again.
Or, we should expedite action on the JF-17, complete with air refuelling tankers. We can only be taken seriously if we take our security seriously.
My thought exactly,we should not think that because arabs view blacks as inferior, then we are safe from ISIS expansionist movement.who knows if they have changed their minds and decided to start where boko haram stops.
we not only need SU30s and JF-17s,we also need more transport helos, and frigates along with long range cruise missiles.

the mod should help put d source since he approved a story without a source!
indeed.i've noticed that nairaland moderators rarely take their jobs seriously.how can they allow a thread where supporters of different political parties insult themselves, remain unchecked?
in politics section, you will see topics that are supposed to be in joke or sexuality section, many topics without source, many topics that spark divisive controversies, many topics that contain ethno-religious/political slander;yet the mods approve and put them on front page.
it is very disappointing indeed.

go check sun newspaper today.
sun newspaper never said 615 fighters were killed.it only reported that 'a huge number' of BH fighters were killed, but the actual casualty figure is yet to be determined.

@Chief agaugust,henry,stillchris,naijapikingidi..what do you think about the latest development with ISIS?
In the latest reports,we learnt that ISIS has now sprung up in libya{as expected}.libya is only 1500km away from our border, egypt is trying to contain the situation, but sadly isnt recieving necessary support.
Do you think they are only aiming for north african arab nations,or have they decided that blacks muslims arent infidels anymore?
We know that if ISIS harnesses the weapons and human resource in libya, mali, niger and chad, then they will be 10 times stronger, with over 2 million trained fighters to cause judicious amount of terror, making the ottoman brutality look like training drills.
Our north alone has 60 million muslim{not counting the south},half of that number are innocent youths who can be easily radicalized.
Do you think that we should take proactive measures of closing our borders and acquiring more military hardwares, especially long range missiles, stealth fighter jets and more wardrones?
Foreign Affairs › Re: Sh*t Just Hit The Fan: ISIS Now In Libya by EVarn(m): 11:00am On Feb 20, 2015
@OP,perhaps,but i prefer to use the term 'invade',because we all know were islam originated from.
the al-quaeda links in libya werent{arent} strong enough to start a jihad, but now,the more radical ISIS Islamic movement has taken over, forging an adjoining terrorist sect from a weak vulnerable nation.
I believe that nigeria can stop more terror from spread into its territory by taking pro active measures and using necessary force to 'persuade' ISIS apologists.the mistake many countries are making is allowing muslims to travel into "terror hotzones",if we close our borders and issue travel restrictions against certain countries, then we may be able to contain negative psycological impacts.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Sh*t Just Hit The Fan: ISIS Now In Libya by EVarn(m): 9:50am On Feb 20, 2015
@OP,you are very right.
The invasion of libya by ISIS has been long overdue,it is to be expected given that most of ISIS's human resources comes from libya, libya is a chaotic nation with no government and rule of law,it is a very ripe pluck for radical islam.
Nigeria needs to rearm it armed forces very quickly in order to give us an edge in staving off islamic terrorism.
the only thing separating us from libya is a porous strip of land in form of niger and chad.but both of these countries do not have the capacity to hold off ISIS for even one month.that is where we come in,we need to be proactive,we need equipments, aircrafts, missiles, frigates and tanks: we need to be able to invade niger, chad or even libya to bombard ISIS before they get to our doorstep.
believe me,we do not want those islamic extremists to get to our doorstep and cause trouble before we stop them.nobody can help us fight our enemies, only we can defeat our foes.
moreover,we played a big part in the destabilization of libya.

Our defence minister cannot entertain hearsays. If she went on to present it before the AU summit there must have been some concrete information she discovered through secret services. Otherwise, she would have dismissed it as lies. Do you mean that she could ever confidently instruct the law enforcement to effect arrest on mercenaries if there had never been any mercenaries in Nigeria? Are you insinuating that our minister made up a story to deceive AU dignitaries with propaganda. Did you even ask yourself why Nigeria has remained mum and never even came out of the closet to defend themselves about such accusations? We are up to this day still waiting patiently for their response. Their silence on the matter leaves a lot to be desired.
your minister quoted a local rag, instead of intelligence report.
when did your minister table the report before the AU?.

Oh, why a photo again? Why? Whenever you are ready.

your ministers are clueless, without capacity to compile accurate intelligence reports.
do you know how it sounds for a senior government official to be spouting words straight from a rag?.
you can never hear our president, defense minister or NSA coming out to say: "i heard word from the nigerian tribune that we are fighting boko haram" or
"i heard word from daily punch that my wife has big bre.asts" or

There are South African mercenaries in Nigeria as the evidence shows, and your bare denials cannot counter the evidence. It is not DieVluit that insists. It is the evidence that does. Until it is countered, it will continue insisting.

Exactly.
Meaning that you don't have any real "scenarios" to counter our arguments with.
You can only bring illustrated scenarios.
You have no argument.
Again, advancing bare denials for 3 pages proves nothing. You have accordingly said nothing.
olongbo!,big big olongbo.you do not have proof that your mercs are "training" our troops in CT operations.there is a clear difference between coming to train troops and coming to nigeria to recieve prayers in christ embassy, synagogue or redeem.
No mercs in the NE,if you insist, then post pictures, videos and soft documents as proof.
but i dont expect that you will do that, you will only continue your emply rhetorics and petty theatrics.

Your "I don't have the patience" line is followed by an entire novel, which can only mean that you do have the patience. But what you don't have is an argument.

You already accepted that there are South African mercenaries in Nigeria by posting that they were shipped to Nigerian under the ministry's noses.

This was not my argument, but yours.

Once again, you post things without thinking, as always.
that was just an illustrated scenario, dont you know english?,when i started my illustration,i clearly remember starting with: "in a scenario that...."
so that tells you that all my illustration were just a scenario to prove a certain point.

Introducing "feelings" speak in an intellectual space can only mean that you are projecting your own feelings onto the thread.
Typing three pages of bare denials does not prove anything.
But what has been posted by us proves that there are South African mercenaries in Nigeria.
I dont have the patience to listen to your inane chatter.
You do not have any solid evidence to approve any of your claim.the only "proof" you can muster is quoting your chubby cartoon of a defense minister, who ignorantly admitted to have heard the report from 'beeld'.It wasnt even the SA intelligence network that first aired the report,it was a cheap media tabloid that cooked up the imaginary conspiracy against oblivious HIV striken saffers who came to synagogue in hopes of divine healing.what is beeld?,who knows beeld?.
you should actually try bringing picture, video and documentary evidence to buttress your claims instead of wailing like an olongbo.

the purported "white men" you are screaming about are either fulani or chadian soldiers.
they may also be military trainers who have arrived nigeria to help train our military personnels in operating new weapon platforms.
we have trainers arriving from czech republic, belarus, pakistan, china, isreal, poland, ukraine and russia.

Nigeria blamed as civilians killed.
lol.Yesterday, niger's president Issaofou, was boasting and preening, his mouth was running like peppersoup, claiming that:
"..Nobody attacks niger with impunity...."
well, niger has now been attacked, what will he do?
that aside,
there is no substantial evidence to support the preposterous claims that the nigerian airforce attacked innocent civilians in niger.the french,US and chad also have airforce bases around that area, why should anyone blame nigeria?
someone claimed that he saw two green jets, but anyone can paint a couple of jets green in order to cause tension between we and our neighbours.
why would we attack our neighbours?.
As for nigerian airforce needing training,i hope you realise that our airforce have been flying thousands of sorties since last year july, and they havent hit any civilian target once, why would they begin now?

We need more cooperation with Israel and the US.
forgive me for my rude cheek, but i really dont think that our armed forces should work jointly with isreal or the US,especially the US.Mainly because they wouldnt allow us.moreover:
(1)Isreal is predominantly jewish, with a sizeable smattering of christians in between.everyone knows that isreal is a sworn enemy of islam, but as we have it,nigeria is a 52% muslim country.working too closely with isreal will cause tension for our ethno-religious integration.already, many northern muslims are already stirring to the fact that the naira contains a jewish symbol in place of arabic dwaddles.
Isreal is a firm ally of the US,therefore,it would be very difficult to secure full cooperation with them.
(2) The US is always blinded by personnal interests and ulterior motives.i dont think we can have full cooperation with them, mainly because we are a huge threat to their economic and military interests in africa

Breaking reports confirms that a mysterious fighter jet has carried out airstrikes on a niger village,on the border with nigeria, killing about 20-30 locals who were observing a mourning funeral.
So far,the identity of the fighter jet remains unknown, but Nigeria denied knowing anything about the airstrikes.
"it is not to my knowledge and there havent been any report of an airstrike from my people" said commodore dele alonge,a senior official of the nigerian airforce.
But local leaders have laid blame on nigeria
"at first,we thought that it was a mistake by the chadian or niger airforce, but we later ascertained that it was perpetrated by the nigerian military",a similar airstrike was said to have occured in chadian held gamboru, killing one person.
Politics › An Appeal To Nairaland's "CEO",for The Creation Of A Military Section by EVarn(op): 3:06pm On Feb 18, 2015
This thread is commissioned as an appeal tendered to the direct leadership of nairaland forum, for the creation of a military section on this forum.
l,as an avid lover of this forum, call for spontaneous reforms to be swiftly embarked upon.I propose that some dispensible sections be merged together to allow the inauguration of new exciting sections.
For example;
let the programming section be merged with the techmarket section, let the phone section be merged with the computer section etc....
This will further allow the less popular sections to be properly 'contained',thereby making room for new, thought provoking and educative sections like military section, culture and traditional section, open debate section etc....
I hope that my contribution will be taken into absolute consideration,by Mr. Seun and his crew, who i've learnt, are the executive pioneers of this forum
