Maintenance and operating cost on the long run?, it's good if money will keep entering into the army though.

The wording for this press release seems so much more patriotic almost like revenge to Boko Haram for their daring attacks! I love it.

Did you guys notice the part that mentioned Nigerian army special forces command NASFC, that’s new (can’t wait to see the patches).

The press release also commended NaF pilots that’s wonderful now image How potent NA will be with its own air wings providing 24/7 round the clock close air support to troops engaging Boko boys anywhere in the NE theater
Finally freed by the bots grin

Yeah I saw the NASFC too, pretty cool.

I don't think the NA has enough money to be establishing an aviation wing, the NAF is more than capable of performing CAS for ground forces. Focus should be placed on acquiring more MRAPs, APCs, rocket launchers, assault rifles, bullet proof vests and helmets for the troop, as well as training and retraining of infantry and special units

France runs and coordinates the G-5 Sahel. They are actively involved in counter-insurgency operations in the sahel region.
I don't see them fighting ISWAP. Yeah I know they monitor the situation and pass Intel to the Nigeriens, Chadians and Cameroonians, enough Intel to prevent any serious encroachment into francophone territory. Other than that, I don't see them actively engaging ISWAP.

Abeg we Nigerians shouldn't just laugh and make jest of everything, that is how we will mock them and in the next 15 years they will be churning out tanks and sophisticated body gadgets, while Nigeria will still be struggling with its prototype helicopter (God forbid).

Just thinking, what exactly are the French doing on ground in the Sahel to contain ISWAP?, I think they should integrate a battalion of their legionnaires into the MNJTF to actively participate in combat. Afterall they were the ones who bombed Tripoli and turned this region into a mess in the first place and their influence is a critical factor in this region.

Please do find a place in your benevolent heart to forgive us mere mortals who don't thrive on conspiracy theories.

I know you are omniscient, but allow me inform you that between 2014-2015 alone, black market arms worth millions of dollars were shipped into Nigeria from South Africa, Ukraine and other countries by our own Federal Government, without the approval of those governments. The action even caused a diplomatic spat between Nigeria and South Africa. What this tells us is that the black market is a separate entity on its own, governments may decide to turn a blind eye to the operations of such syndicates but that doesn't mean they approve it as a state policy.

I do not see what Turkey stands to gain by supplying arms to far flung terrorist groups all over the world, completely outside their sphere of influence, but apparently you do, and whenever you decide to share such classified information, please be so kind to mention me.

Oh, and please delete that quote of yours mentioning me.

Wasn't the vehicle I posted the first Igirigi prototype?
Isn't that where they started with the Igirigi?

What you posted is a tracked APC and not a wheeled APC.

That ugly looking thing was praised as being the first fully designed and produced APC in Nigeria.

But it's a fact that when you guys started designing your own wheeled APCs you started with a piece of Cr@p and the Ghanaian APC looks way better than the Original igirigi
My friend will you keep quiet, you posted nonsense and they are correcting you, you are still arguing angry

Nigeria has been making APCs since the 60s', the Igirigi is just another APC that underwent different stages of distillation to become what it is today, but it certainly isn't the first or where we "started from".

I disagree with you with a couple of jumps his fear for heights will drastically reduce if not eliminated, the fact that someone has acrophobia doesn't mean such a one is a coward or Lilly livered it's just a natural way the body adjust to circumstances it's not used to, same scenario is being experienced by cadet pilots on their first flight with there instructors, some even vomit heavily on Simulators without having a feel of the real thing but with time their body will adjust to it. Some of the bestbpilots in NAF today will relate with what I'm saying because they've experienced it.
Maybe I am being too harsh on the guy, but I feel it isn't just a matter of him fearing heights, it fundamentally a matter of cowardice. I may be wrong though. You gave a good example of pilots, though I think that is different.

Why is he afraid in the first place?, because he is imagining that the rope may break mid-air and he will fall straight to his death, so indirectly, he is afraid of death, which is understandable, nobody wants to die. But ironically, that is what military job entails, paying the supreme sacrifice. How are we sure that the same fear of death will not overwhelm him when given a gun and told to face deranged terrorists?.

I am sure many of the other guys who jumped were initially terrified, it's reflex to be afraid of heights, considering that we humans are terrestrial creatures, we can't fly. But those guys swallowed their fear and jumped anyway. In his case, he just couldn't jump, despite seeing others before him do it without consequences, despite the way the instructor was trying to boost his morale. It shows traces of cowardice, which isn't just good enough

And to the guy who said he joined for economic reasons... I disagree with u... Pple may have joined in the past for such reasons, but with the present security challenges I highly doubt someone will risk his life for money...
If you have such phobia, then you have no business joining the military. Phobias don't just disappear after a couple of repetitive actions, they can only be suppressed, and in the heat of battle, that phobia will resurface, a second of hesitation that can get he and his entire team killed.

On a serious note, everyone loves the power and prestige that comes with being in the military, it would be a lie to state otherwise. But at least have the courage necessary for the job.

A mild drama ensued featuring a Nigerian cadet during a military training. The military student was very scared of jumping from a height during the training despite being aided with rope.

In a trending video posted online, a superior can be heard telling him that nobody will push him and he must jump by himself because it's courage the military needs.

The young man said he's courageous but his mind did not carry this particular jump.

Despite all the advice, the cadet was still very afraid to jump.

While the drama was happening, his colleagues and other military officers mocked him heavily at the training ground.

Finally, after an order was given, the cadet was pushed by other soldiers.

On a serious note , do u think it is possible to move large consignments of weapons in containers / load them / prepare necessary papers etc etc without the knowledge of or alerting the Intel etc of the said country ?

Given that there is high possibility that the very same weapons can end up with local adversaries like ku.ds etc within the country or outside etc etc

Don't answer it , just think
After "thinking" on this, I decided to post a reply, if only for the sake of those who may find these information interesting.

You may pretend not to have it in India, but there is something called the black market. Basically, it consists of a group of syndicates, both governmental and non-governmental.

Now,it is very possible for large caches of small arms and light weapons to be transported from one country to another if there are interest groups in both countries powerful enough to side-step the system. Countries like Turkey, Pakistan, South Africa and co, have very strong black market syndicates, with links to government officials who cloak their activities from detection.

Thousand of turk weapons flood the black market every year, without the Turkish government sanctioning it. It is not because of some complex conspiracy, it is simply weak arms regulations and corruption of highly placed government officials.

Remember this? Also from Turkey.

https://punchng.com/customs-seize-container-with-440-guns-imported-from-turkey/
The Turkish underworld is vast, the black market arms racketeering is so prolific that even government officials engage in it. The Turkish government also has very weak regulation of its arms industry. It is not surprising that light weapons and small arms from Turkey always find their way everywhere.

They should come to Nigeria and master the art of Coup plotting. The NA should have an archive/manual for Coup.

PS: That was when "men" with guts were in the military.
One thing about coup is either you succeed or fail. The former may be bloodless, but the latter will be otherwise.
Nigeria that has first class degree in coup plotting. Where a tight cabal of military officers(Abacha, Babangida, Al-Mustapha etc) were all involved in all the coups that happened since 1970. Plotting behind the scene.

Who will support an ordinary lieutenant?, even if he is leading a platoon, how many men are in his platoon to support such a complex task?.

If it was a Major now, it would have been better, but a lieutenant?, dead on arrival.

The only way he could have succeeded was to have the entire cadre of low ranking officers on his side, which is almost impossible.
