MikeCZAR:
mate! If you fly your small civilian cessna into a restricted air space during anti-air exercises and missiles start flying close to you.
You can't be crying around that you were targeted.
Consider yourself lucky cause the missiles were fired just close to you without their warheads using destroying your ar..se.
it isnt the fishemens' fault that your navy was too incompetent to secure the area first before commencing your amateurish naval maneovers.there should have been patrol boats on the outer perimeter of the area to ward off adventurous civilian boats from straying into the area, but it seems that you guys never do things right.

If they thought it was the remotely controlled boat.
Those boats like some drones e.g Denel Skua are not sunk or shot down during exercises they will shot around it or let the missile fly close it.
How does a frigate acquire targets for 76mm main gun?
Are you asking me?
There is a clear difference between a target drone and a fishing boat, surely even you know that.why should your vessel fire at a fishing boat, when it should have detected what it was through the vessel's surveillance assets?

. The boat was in a restricted area.
so you fired at it,right?.SA should dismantle its navy, clearly the SAN is infested with incompetent dunderheads and nullskulls.

The Ratel has a much much greater range than your Land cruisers
Its also much much more versatile in difficult terrain than your Land cruisers.
Much much much much much better protected against mines and other weapon systems.
Was this a trick post to snag the first position on the 2000th page?.lol.

Yet no where In the article do they say how they back up the heading. I mean there reporters. They don't know a tank from a APC or rifle from a machine gun.

You can't seem to provide an answer why would they target a boat without a reason.
they targeted the boat because they though it was their practice target, even with the advance surveillance technology that the vessel possesses, your incompetent navy managed to fail in a basic task.

Do you still argue what is now a historical teaching guide on military defeats and loses in Africa?
Please!! Let's not talk of that war. The Angolans butchered you. Bodies after bodies kept coming into Pretoria. Your own press called it a "humiliating defeat". The Angolans had the remaining frightened and demoralized SANDF under siege until your Botha president ran to the US -who had been supplying SANDF with CIA mercenaries- for negotiations for the mercy of what is left of the SANDF.
lol.I really do enjoy your punchlines....hehehehe

aaahhh...ok, couldve been in 2014 cant really remember, still 2000 pages would be awesome, this might even be the longest running thread in history, i looked it up and the previous longest was +- 14000 replies, this one is at least 20000 replies and thats a very very modest estimate.
indeed,and i bet i will be the groundbreaker of the 2000th page{though i sincerely doubt that}.lol.
perhaps i could even enter the guiness book of records as the first person to open the 2000th page of the longest thread in both human and alien history.lol.

jln115:
Actually this thread should of been way past 2000 pages by now, i remember about 800 od pages simply vanished sometime in 2013.
perhaps that was the period of the infamous 'nairaland hack'{though i think the cyber attack happened sometime in july 2014,i cant remember now}....but it may also be due to systematic error, perhaps the number of pages were inflated in the first place{as i have noticed with the 'like' and 'share'}.

Well then I did some check up and found you to be a idiott
do you know the class of the vessel that was used by the SAN in the naval exercise?
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 9:24pm On Apr 03, 2015
andrewza:
Again who said is SAN and who said they knew it was a fishing boat and not a target.
systematic analysis along with a healthy dose of common sense reveals that it was the SAN that ruthlessly chucked out deadly munitions against the innocent fishemen.
afterall, only an incompetent navy wouldnt be able to discern a target drone from a civilian fishing boat.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 9:11pm On Apr 03, 2015
2000th page annivesary coming up soon..hehehehe....i can see high tension all over the thread as everyone scrambles to get a piece of the much anticipated page.lol.
becoming the powerbroker of Nairaland aint a piece of cake, the 2000th page will position this thread as the military superpower of whole vast expanse of nairaland.grin grin ; D ; D
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 8:56pm On Apr 03, 2015
andrewza:
Nope. If they thought it was a target drone then the fireing order does not go by country.
Surely 3 military vessels can identify the difference between a target drone and a fishing boat.
clearly,it was the dubious handiwork of the SAN.Afterall, the german warships have the capability to spot and identify any seacraft or aircraft in a 10km radius, also they wouldnt have fired without properly confirming what exactly it was that they were shooting at.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 8:48pm On Apr 03, 2015
andrewza:
Have you ever tried to lock down a piece of ocean. I have. Fishing boats ignore radio commands and nav warnings.
And the best thing to do is to shoot at them?,jesus, these people pay tax!,they are citizens who should be protected at all cost.
The SAN clearly failed to properly secure the area for the naval exercise, and it would be sensible to conclude that the SAN,in a fit of unholy rage, opened fire on the fishing boat. But they ended up missing the target due to incompetence.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 8:16pm On Apr 03, 2015
andrewza:
And you know this how?
through a systematic analysis of the event.isnt the area of cape algehes under the south african territorial maritime authority?,then whose job is it to secure and lockdown the area for a naval exercise?,do you expect the germans to do that for you?
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 8:10pm On Apr 03, 2015
andrewza:
2 Germans vs 1 SAN. Odds are German.
why was it only one vessel that fired at the fishing boat?,there were about 3 or 4 vessels in the exercise, only 1 vessel was south african, and only 1 vessel shot at the civilian target, therefore, wouldnt it be accurate to conclude that the ship which fired at the fishing boat was SAN?
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 7:38pm On Apr 03, 2015
patches689:
Of the 4 vessels present, 3 were German.
Its only a 25% chance that it was us
It is almost certain that it was the SAN that fired deadly rounds of munitions at the innocent fishermen.afterall,it was the germans leading the exercise, while it was the job of the south africans to secure and lockdown the area to enable the procession of the naval exercise{which they clearly failed in doing}.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 7:30pm On Apr 03, 2015
MikeCZAR:
Exercise between SA and German navies.
Clearly,it was the SAN that shot at the fishing boat.I refuse to believe that the germans are that incompetent.
moreover, this isnt the first time both SAN and SAAF have directly threatened the life of innocent civilians with reckless maneovers and sheer incompetence.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 7:24pm On Apr 03, 2015
andrewza:
Germans.
hehehehe....when in doubt, blame the germans?.lol, did the germans make a 8000km journey into your territorial waters just to come and start shooting at fishing boats?
Both south african and german navies were both undergoing naval exercise in the area, why blame the germans?.

It is not of the same type. I keep forgetting if rodewaal or the Denel site is bigger.
At night nav lights look like nav lights.
Who said it was us.
Depends on the Training some tools may not be used.
who else would be cruising a warship around cape algehes and shooting at innocent fishermen if not the SAN?

Yep.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohatla
No a fish boat is a vehicle. It can move thuse is not a installation.
Who said it was warning shots. It could of been mistaken for the target drone.
lohatla is just one of the two training facilitie for all types of warfare located in the southern hemisphere, where does it say that SA has the 2nd biggest training field in the southern hemisphere?.
my use of the word "installation" was figurative.
how can you mistake a fishing boat for the target drone{which you missed anyway}?,didnt you say that all your warships has "advanced" binoculars?.If even with advanced binoculars, your navy cannot tell the difference between a target drone and a fishing boat, then there is clearly something wrong with your military doctrine.or has HIV clouded your eyeballs?
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 2:06pm On Apr 03, 2015
andrewza:
You do know it was a fishing boat and not a house that was shot at. You do know we have the biggest and second biggest training grounds in the southern hemisphere.
not only "southern hemisphere" it is "southern cherry-pear"{note the sarcasm}.
Have you forgotten that Brazil is also part of the southern hemisphere?,are you saying that you've got a bigger training field than Brazil?.
Moreover, isnt the fishing boat a civilian installation?,also, why shoot to scare the fishermen away, why not apply normal diplomatic means to strongly convince them to retreat out of the training zone?

How do you think out her countries do it.
Other proffesional countries, like Nigeria, conduct military exercises out of public view,We carry out our training, test firing and other military exercises away from public habitations.
That is why only few non-military Nigerians can ever claim to have witnessed a military exercise.
