Patchesagain:
Vice said that those men had been holding the town "since the war began" so those positions have been there for years now. They should be extremely sophisticated by now.
The MG nest being elevated makes it a nice target for recoiless grenades and easy suppression.
Ammo is a disaster waiting to happen - a stray mortar or tracer round could set it off, and a couple tonnes of explosives going off in the middle of your base during an attack is not something you want to happen.
The position where the ammo are stacked is quite distant from the outer perimeter of the FOB,also it is on an elevated slope and out of range of low level projectile,so it is technically impossible for stray mortar to hit the ammo storage.
Moreover, topography must be considered, storing ammo in trenches and bunkers may be dangerous as the soil component of the north eastern region is extremely sulphurus.
it would also reduce mobility of ammunitions.

Ammo is a disaster waiting to happen - a stray mortar or tracer round could set it off, and a couple tonnes of explosives going off in the middle of your base during an attack is not something you want to happen.Ideally the majority would be distrubited along hard points in the trenches (so you dont have to run off to get more in battle) and the rest would be stored in a number of heavily dug in bunkers strategically located around the base.
And who is to say that there arent bunkers hidden around the location?,surely you dont expect the military to air such sensitive and strategic ammo depots and defense positions on a public video,it would be like handing over the blueprint of the garrison to the enemy

Look - I know its the frontline and so its not going to look like a barracks right before inspection.
Hell, i could even ignore the miss-matched uniforms.
But cummon, some of the basics - that trench system gave me cancer. That ammo storage.... that sh1tty mg-nest
Errg
Perhaps the trenches were a little too elevated, narrow and linear given the environment, generally,i'll admit that the trenches were a little hastily dug by less experienced personnels{perhaps CJTF men}.
As for ammo storage,i see nothing wrong with the way ammo are stored or even the mg-nest for that matter, the location of that garrison is near he frontline, therefore you cannot expect to see the level of organisation that would be normally present in a barrack or base, ammunitions are regularly evacuated as many times as they are stored.

Politics › Nigeria Set To Evacuate Citizens From Yemen by EVarn(op): 12:14am On Apr 11, 2015
The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to evacuate Nigerians residing in Yemen due to recent instability and outbreak of violence in the country.Already, about 46 Nigerians have been identified and documented. The FG intends to rescue its citizens through preparations carried out by the Nigerian mission in Saudi Arabia, delay in evacuation of Nigerians was reported to be caused by lack of a Nigerian mission or embassy in Yemen.Already countries like Egypt,France,Russia,Germany,India etc have sent ships to evacuate their citizens.

MY POINT IS: Nigeria should begin sending our engineers abroad for training, skill acquisition, and general R& D.At this point,we should own a 'flagship' fighter jet,not depending on importation of foreign innovations and pepeye projects like south africa: it would be a huge boost to our economy and general global perception.
Even pakistan that could hardly defend itself from a gang of armed pickpockets 30 years ago,now produces 4th generation fighters and are on their way to designing a 5th generation bomber.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! SOUTH AFRICAS HEU NUCLEAR WEAPON FUEL IS PRESERVED AND CURRENTLY NOT IN USE. IT IS PRESERVED FOR FUTURE USE AND CAN ALWAYS BE ACTIVATED WITH ISOTOPES ANYTIME FOR REACTIVATION AND FILLING.
YOU ARE ILLITERATE WITH ASPECTS OF NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY.
We are talking about the conditions under which your HEU is "preserved",what happens if the isotopes of your HEU decays over time{due to lack of constant calibration} and break down to form weak radioactive compounds with the emission of dangerous fission energy and alpha rays?,you will have sick scientists and citizens, with a useless radioactive compound to boot.
Your nuclear materials may as well be useless in war.

I sincerely pray that GEJ does not win. I have a feeling this so-called GEJ is into something. How can a man who lacks leadership skills just keep climbing higher from one leadership position to the next with little or no hindrance? Since GEJ became president, Nigerians have not rested. GEJ is a stooge to the west and so it will be a very bad move making him chairman of the AU when the man has not accomplished any of his campaign promises in our home country. Lord God, what the heck is going on in our continent? Are we cursed or what?
GEJ is a western stooge?,why then did he renounce the EU EPA?,why did he sign the anti-gay law despite threats of sanctions?,why did the west support his ousting through the ballot?.
How many times has GEJ visited western countries in all his years as a leader?,compare that to how many times Buhari has visited the UK{Chatham house},France and Germany already even before his election as president.

South africans are an extremely brutal breed of the human race, they do not tolerate foreigners prospering in their land; mostly because many black south africans are still jobless illiterates with crime as their only avenue of feeding.
Due to south africa's unfortunate animalistic instincts, many foreign investors have been discouraged to establish companies, while those who had already set up businesses have packed up and ran away in fear of being lynched by south africa's animalistic mobs.
Though their are a number of Nigerian criminal elements in South Africa,it definitely isnt worth carrying out violent reprisals against every foreigner on sight, this goes to show how socially underdeveloped south africa is,afterall,SA has a police force, doesnt it?.

Even India and Brazil, both of which are one of the world's most sophisticated military, are having problems with uniform distribution of camo and other military gears/outfit.
What we must understand is that, the bigger the military, the costlier and harder it is to circulate a singular type of infantry outfit. Moreover, the outfits does not directly affect the skill or performance of a military force, while it makes a military look more professional,it hardly makes any difference in combat situations{except for identification, which can sometimes be sabotaged}.
Also, terrain must be considered,Nigeria has 4 different types of terrain, which justifies the diversity in camo.surely you dont expect to wear the vivid green{stained with earth brown} coloured camo of the SE tropical rainforest in a battle taking place in the NE desert region, and come out alive?
Nigeria has a 130,000 military manpower{or even more, due to the emergence islamic terror threat},therefore,it wont be an easy task to have a uniform infantry.

Nigeria bought all that when they were put on the corner of destruction. SA would do the same and even outdone Nigeria in procuring arms because we have 3X more revenues than your government.
SA were not defeated in Bangui and our parliament took decision to call off their deployments because there was no government anymore in Bangui.Did you expert SA to kill all Seleka rebels and suffer the blames from the world that they have now become imperialists?
Meanwhile, the only nation that lost the battle on their playground is none other than Nigerian troops.BH defeated them with rusty weapons to the extent that they ran helter skelter buying illegal weapons and even recruiting mercenaries.BH proved more powerful than Nigerian troops. If it were not for mercenaries, almost half of the Nigerian territory would have been lost to BH.
Thanks Nigeria for voting Buhari in power
"..Almost half of Nigerian territory would have been lost to BH"?
Thats impossible,BH has no such manpower.

I wasnt suggesting a country should represent a region.what i was saying is that Regions should only be represented on the council as blocs. That way, they will vote based on the unanimous decision of that bloc. That way,The middle east for example will solve their problems themselves and unanimously decide how to vote on the council. They can horse trade between themselves and reach some sort of agreement before voting
Great powers will still have leverage over small countries in their region but they have to trade something in other to get a unanimous vote from their bloc or else the uncomfortable country in the bloc can prevent a vote from the bloc no matter how small and insignificant since everyone has to agree or they abstain
That is indeed a lasting solution, however,we must consider the fact that regions with great economic and military power will always cast undue influence on the decisions of weaker regions.it would be more satifying if the UNSC is abolished.

No, we can do without India but that's not the case with Russia.
lol,We cannot do without India, same way Africa can never do without Nigeria.India actually contributes hugely to the world economy through production of food, automobiles, and textile,India is also a technology powerhouse.Russia's only main contribution to the world are oil and military technology/hardwares,both of which any other determined country can either procure from other sources or produce by themselves. Russia is just like every other superpower, always fighting solely for its own interests,no matter how many foreigners dies,no matter how it affects the world economy,no matter how many wars are fought and how many bombs are flung around.
I always say it: In politcs, there are no friends or foe, there is only interest: the permanent interest, the temporal interest and the disposable ones.

There is a better idea. One permanent member from each region.
AU, EU, Arab League, Orgainization of American states, CIS , Pacific region, Central Asia etc
I respectively disagree,We have learnt from history that one country can never speak for an entire region, simply because no region or continent of the world is totally harmonized.
If you say that every region should have a country who would their the voice and wield veto in the security council, then what stops that same country who has the power of the security council from utilizing it to subjugate other countries in its own region and supress political/economic rivals in its own region?.Do you know what having a security council member would cause in fragile regions such as the middle east?
No,i suscribe to the idea which panafrican suggested: Let there be no security council, let there be no veto.

Nigeria is the laughing stock of Africa. Pompus buffoons waddling around pretending to be global players when they cant even stop their own country form disintegrating.
