Education › Re: Presidency- We’ll Teach Nursery School Pupils Software Development by Evercurious(f): 10:28am On Nov 23, 2018 |
hollakay: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the Federal Government will change the educational curriculum in such a way that will enable pre - primary school pupils to learn software development and coding . Osinbajo said this during the 50th National Annual Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria held in Abuja recently. Speaking at the event with the theme, ‘Stand Out ’, the Vice President said that many countries across the world had begun to shift focus from natural to human resources development . He said that any youth , who lacked Information and Communication Technology skills and knowledge , would become unemployable in the future , stressing that this had informed the Federal Government ’s decision to infuse educational development in its Economic Recovery and Growth Plan. Osinbajo said, “ The focus on primary and secondary education is on employability skills, especially technology. So our focus is on teaching young people from the primary, even pre- primary , school to use all the new techniques, especially code writing skills and software writing skills. “ The new technologies that are developing everything we are seeing today clearly show that anyone in the coming generation will be left behind, if they are not equipped with the knowledge of cutting edge of technology or with a sound knowledge of technology , at least. We believe that our educational system must incorporate that , which is why , with the new curriculum , a lot of attention is focused on science , technology , engineering and mathematics.” “ For a country like Nigeria , which is highly dependent on oil, we need to remind our people that oil is a depleting asset. The country ’ s large population, especially our young ones, is where its strength truly lies .”

PassingShot: Debates in Nigeria are useless because many times we’ve seen the winner of a debate losing woefully in elections. The reason is that 99% of voters have already made their mind on their choice. And debates are usually to sway undecided voters.
Na losers dey debate in Nigeria
Since 1999, all the presidents we’ve produced never participated in the presidential debate prior to the election that made them president.
Obasanjo refused to debate with Falae Yar’Adua didn’t debate with Buhari Jonathan refused to debate PMB PMB refused to debate Jonathan
So, if he refuses to debate, you have the choice to keep your votes to yourself or give to someone else.
Buhari’s achievements speak for him already. WHICH ACHIEVEMENT(S) PLEASE? |

That river is known to swallow Non-indigenes. funny enough the reason why the river is dangerous is because of the high river currents there that make it very fast flowing and also the river is deep. If you want to see how fast flowing Otammiri is go to Mgboke village in Ihiagwa that is where you see the real force of the water there. In my years in FUTO i resisted the urge to near the river i only got as far as the shallow sand banks even at that the experience is scary. in 2002 it killed a 4th year Petroleum Engineering student then a southern kaduna guy You re very correct... Crime › Re: We Sold Our Day-old Baby For N250, 000 To Pay Off Debts – Suspect by Evercurious(f): 5:02pm On Nov 18, 2018 |
CastedGist: Operative of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Team in Rivers State have nabbed a couple who sold their day-old baby for N250,000 to pay off debts incured during wife’s pregnancy.
The family told Sunday Vanguard that they sold the baby to settle debt and relocate from the village to the city.
The couple, according to the Commander in charge of the IGP Monitoring Team in the state, Benneth Igweh, alongside the suspected traffickers, regretted their action, but stated that if they had money they would not have involved the act. The mother of the baby, Chidinma Richard, 29, narrated that she had fallen sick during pregnancy and borrowed money to treat herself, adding that the husband is a wheelbarrow pusher. Chidinma also disclosed that her husband, Benson, earlier did not accept her advice to sell the baby, saying he changed his mind after seeing the reality of their situation. She said:
“I am from Isiala Mbano, Imo State. I was arrested by the police because I sold my day-old baby. I sold him for N250, 000 through one Ugonma. I sold the child because of our condition. I have given birth to four children. One died because of our situation. We are left with two children now. “I never wanted to give birth to another child after two children but this one happened by mistake. When I gave birth to this one, I told my husband that we should sell him. “My intention was for us to use the money to settle our debt and then relocate to Umuahia in Abia State. All these happened because my husband is not working, we have been living in my village and I wanted us to relocate. “When I got pregnant again, I was involved in an accident so I borrowed money to treat myself and meet other needs. When they took the baby, I cried, but I had no alternative.”
Meanwhile, the prime suspected trafficker, who allegedly bought the baby from the couple, Mrs. Eucharia Jaja, 48, said that she had trafficked four children out of Nigeria within the last 12 months. The mother of four said: “It is over a year since I joined this business. One late Rose, a traditional birth attendant, introduced me into this business. She introduced me to Ikechi Nwayanwu, who is also in the business. “The woman we sold the little baby to has taken him and travelled to Lagos. I sold the baby for N750, 000. I have sold about four children with the last one year that I joined the business. “We don’t get babies every time; it is not something you get every time. My husband does not know much about the business because he is a tailor. “What I do is to tell him to drive me sometimes when I want to go and deliver a baby. It is only twice he drove me. I am a nurse before I joined the business”.

Romance › Re: My Girlfriend Is Secretly Dating Married Men by Evercurious(f): 3:33pm On Nov 18, 2018 |
CookieLaVee: I almost didn't wan to reply but after seeing some immature replies I think I should reply you. First of all, if she is actually dating a married man, then she is so wrong on every level. Then again, who is perfect? I myself do not condone cheating for anything but hey! Everybody is different and to some extent has a level of wrongs he/she can condone. Besides, who said there is a manual for relationship? I noticed you said you were squatting somewhere before you moved yo your own apartment. I want to believe that you were having some problems with finance and as such, you were not helping her with some finance. A man must not carry all the responsibilities of his woman but to some extent, you should be able to help. Seeing that you were/are still lacking in that department, some things has got to give. I am a woman, a hard working woman at that but to be honest, every woman needs some sort of financial assistant especially from her man. It might not necessarily be for materialistic things, I for one isn't a fan of those but one has responsibilities especially if you are the first child and have lots of siblings looking up to you. Again, that is not an excuse to cheat... Someone once said that if all married men should be faithful then most single ladies will have to starve. That is unfortunately, the sad reality. Please notice the word "most", this doesn't apply to all single ladies though...
Again, during my service year, I was opportune to meet a big politician who gave me my first #100k at his office after telling me he found me interesting. I knew he could have wanted to go to the next level with me if I wanted but alas, my future is too valuable to play into the hands of these diabolical politicians. I ran home with the money and never looked back. Even though there wasnt any need to share this with my bf, I told him out of trust and joy of getting some big money I never worked for or imagined to get at that time, but until after two years, I didn't know he never believed me. He told everybody that cared to know that I slept with a politician and he gave me money.... What am I driving at? Where there is love, there must be trust. If you do love her, trust her to tell you what is actually going on. Don't just deduce your conclusion from what you aren't sure about. I heard you say she has been going to hotels with the married man, confront her and trust her to tell you the real truth. I know the world has stereotyped most women as whores and what not but you have to find out the real truth. From the truth, you can make your decisions as it fits you. So sorry as a female I beg to differ...did you hear him mention the type of phone she uses? That doesn't look like someone that needs money for much more pressing issues but a GLUTTON that isn't satisfied.. I keep saying this, why date a guy that you feel or know you cant be content with his financial status? I must say this, most ladies are very vain with misplaced priorities here and there. Most of us demand for things from our boyfriends same things our parents haven't and couldn't provided for us. Neither can we provide for ourselves.. Isn't that absurd? |

[quote author=queensera post=73061654]A lady was, today, left bloodied by her husband for allegedly slamming the door against him at their Abuja home. According to the remorseless husband, he had warned her, on several occasions, against the act, but she has refused to change, hence the beating. However, an eyewitness, in a chat said: “I am so bitter this evening. I was sleeping when noise in the neighborhood woke me up, so I rushed out to see what was happening. Behold, a woman lying down on the ground with a lot of blood. I asked people what happened and I was told that the husband beat her to that extent. I looked and saw the husband still quarreling with people who came to know what the wife did. He spoke with no sign of remorse towards people and even attempted fighting people too. I was told he has been maltreating and assaulting his wife for 2years now, but the wife can’t summon courage to go because her parents are dead and she doesn't know anywhere else to go. I asked about her relations, if any is Abuja, but they said they don't know. I could see the wife’s pain. Even though she was bleeding people around didn’t really care about her state of health. No one offered to take her to hospital. All they were just doing was heaping curses on the husband but totally ignored the bleeding wife. Police later came and took both to their station. This man will definitely kill that woman one day if he is not stopped. According to the husband, she banged the door against him, despite warning her not to do that.” WATCH VIDEO Source:http://nairaplus.com/2018/11/man-brutalizes-his-wife-for-slamming-the-door-video/[/quote THIS IS SIMPLY FRUSTRATION AT WORK.. NOC1: He should get a good lawyer, ask for the photocopy of the form he submitted asking for the account to be blocked, with the date it was signed you will know and compare it with the date of the tranfer via your account details. Naturally without a lawyer you will get your money if you disturb the bank. Did you say ask for a photocopy of the form he submitted? My dear that form must ve been torn to shreds by now... And there ll be no evidence to back that claim.. Let's not talk of CCTV camera cos it doesn't capture voices.. That's why it is advisable and safest to write your request yourself on a plainsheet of paper for personal account holders, on your company letter headed paper for corporate accounts and your request surly received with your signature verified and letter time stamped by customer care... Of course you ll go home with the photocopy for future reference in times like this.. If all these re in place, then he can go to bed.. Mere writing with such attachment to the bank ll get his money refunded to his account ASAP |

bunmiano: I've been a member of Nairaland since 2012 and I'm very frequent with the business section.
I have a very serious issue that has been a pain on my neck and I will try as much as I can to summarize everything
I sent a sum of N1m to a Uber taxi driver's account number on the 20th October, 2018. This money was a part payment bill for one of my family members who is battling with a life-threatening health issues. That happened about 4 weeks ago.
This is how the whole thing happened
A friend of mine paid me a courtesy visit and when he was about leaving, I used my rider app to request a ride for him and the driver came and took him to his destination. He told my friend the estimated cost of the fare was N4,800 but my friend didn't even bother to check because he felt he probably would not lie about it.
My friend called and told me the fare was N4,800 and I requested for the Uber taxi driver's account number after which I made the payment. The next day (20th October), I needed to make a transaction of N1m to someone for a part payment bill of my family member's treatment oblivious of the fact that I actually made the payment to the Uber taxi driver's account number. This was because I added him in my beneficiary when I wanted to make the payment.
I went to the rider app to get his contact, only for me to realize he actually inflated the fare from N3,400 to N4,800 which I literally paid for. You can see he's not an honest person but I wasn't really bothered about that.
I called and pleaded to him to refund the 1m I sent to his account. At first, he acted as if he didn't receive any money but after series of calls, he later confirmed it. I sent my account details to him and he promised to refund me on Monday as it was weekend.
Monday came and the dude started acting funny. He would pick my calls and remain silent. There were times he gave the phone to a lady to talk to me. Sometimes he yelled at me to stop disturbing him, and a point, he even stopped picking my calls
I mailed Uber and narrated everything that transpired. They responded requesting for evidence to back up my claim which I provided. I took screenshots of the first (inflated fare) and second payment and attached it to my massage. They responded telling me I should exercise patience and that they will look into my issue
It's been 4 weeks now and Uber has been lackadaisical towards this issue. I have messaged them several times and they seem to be less concerned about it. With the way Uber has been acting towards this issue, one could conclude that they're trying to cover up this guy. Someone that can easily call and resolve this issue.
They have just been acting like they're more concerned about their own pockets than customer's satisfaction. I expect them to have taken up the issue for properly investigation despite providing solid evidence.
Please everyone! I have tried and I'm already fed up. Their customer care is my last resort but they have been nonchalant despite knowing the name, vehicle type, and license plate number of someone working for them. Even the Uber driver in question has failed to refund the money and has been avoiding me.
I went to the bank recently and his account has been frozen but I haven't been able to get my money
This country is just messed up. Even the police aren't helping matters. They are demanding their own share of about 150k
Mods please help my situation by pushing this to the front page
Below are the screenshots of everything Op, firstly it's called 'an errorenous transfer' and it's treated by asking your bank for a 'RECALL OF FUNDS'. But I must say you found out quiet late and you weren't proactive.. You wld ve called the beneficiary's (uber driver's) bank immediately and a lien wld ve been placed on the N1m while you call your bank requesting for a recall of funds pending when you get to your bank to submit a formal request for a recall of funds.. Freezing his account isn't the issue here.. Is the N1m still in the account? Or you just ended up freezing an empty account?.. Sorry to say you acted so naive by trusting the driver to refund the money. You wasted so much time and we all know Cotonou isn't that far from Lagos.. Let's just hope he is still in Nigeria cos I trust my brothers :No slacking. However if the funds re still in the account, go to your bank and do a recall of funds.. You might need to get a good account officer to follow up that request since the beneficiary is not willing to give a consent to the release of the funds.. Asking you to do a follow up ll be as good as impossible. We all know you are not proactive. No offence intended But if the funds are no longer in his account, you might ve to get a lawyer to help out in this... Trust me, this ll definitely work... I just did same for a friend. Although hers was N500k Goodluck |
