Kenai:
Until you have actually visited and examined all the states in Nigeria, you are not in any position to conclude that a region has "more functional state governments" unless you're basing your beliefs on the loud and noisy propaganda constantly crapped out on the pages of Nairaland.
For a more serious argument, you'd have to list out the areas in which the governments in the region are performing above the others. Education and National test Scores? Security? Health? Housing? Job Security?
One can't just arrive at a conclusion without adequate facts and figures, and that's the truth.
I've been to quite a few states myself and I get a lot of info from friends living many others. Admittedly my opinions are biased in favor of states that invest more in roads and other infrastructure, but its still better than swallowing Nairaland propaganda.

The Imo State incumbent governor (Ikedi Ohakim of the PDP) also lost his re-election bid to Rochas Okorocha of APGA, despite his numerous urban beautification projects. But ummm... Last I checked, Imo State was nowhere close to the South West. Also, if my memory serves me well, the Anambra State incumbent Mbadinuju also lost his re-election bid in 2003.

It's a fallacy to even conclude that losing your re-election is a sign of political enlightenment on the part of the electorate. For all we know, it just might mean the people have been frustrated to their breaking point, don't you think so?
I said the frequency of overthrowing incumbents. The SW does it far more frequently than the SE. Besides, Mbadiniju was literally murdering people in the streets. If they didn't vote him out then the Anambra people would have been reclassified as a 3rd species of chimpanzee.

"Political savvy"? Nah bro. The SW is only "Rice savvy" if the Ekiti and Osun elections are anything to go by. grin

Oh, and you seem to forget that, just like the Yoruba, there are Igbos in PDP, APGA and APC as well. So I fail to see where the false sense of exceptionalism comes from.
You seem to be under the impression that I'm from the SW. I wonder how you came to that conclusion given that I've never mentioned my tribe or state of origin anywhere on Nairaland.

In any case, I never said the SW were exceptional. I said that the ordinary people there were politically savvy and therefore able to get what they wanted from their politicians. You can see the evidence of this in the generally more functional state governments there as well as the frequency with which they vote out incumbents. Even the Fayose's "stomach infrastructure" win proves this since Fayemi's academic style and long term policies alienated a lot of people who wanted to see immediate, tangible benefits. In contrast, other regions tend to either vote the same party every election regardless of performance, or vote according to parochial sentiments which is why their politicians are less inclined to actually serve the ordinary people.

Notwithstanding, it's still your opinion, and you have a right to it.
Cheers.
Thank you for acknowledging that.

PDP just won some more states in the region grin
Internet pseudo-intellectual clowns.
Wait, so the PDP winning some states in the SW means the the people there aren't politically savvy? You mean that there are no Yorubas in PDP and that outsiders are now ruling them? I did not know this! This is a disaster! SW people are really not politically savvy at all! In fact they are extremely dull! And I myself am an internet pseudo-intellectual clown, I confess it!

If you really think that you don't need anybody else to "win the polls", then so are you. As long as you keep thinking that its Catholics are the ones winning, you are not different from him. Democracy is about tolerance, inclusiveness and broad-based participation. It is not just majority rule, otherwise you'll end up with 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what to eat for dinner. The governor and his vice should represent everybody in the state and not just their own narrow parochial or sectarian interests. Remember that everybody is in a minority in one way or the other.

This is why virtually all developed societies have effectively secular governments. Religion will always poison politics. The sooner we all learn, the better for us.

Nigerians need to stop with this nonsense. Before it was Obasanjo telling APC chose a christian to be Buhari's running mate. Then there's Buhari himself selecting "pastors" each time he runs as an apparent attempt to counter the PDP's "Muslim fanatic" smear campaign. There's CAN and their many shenanigans. There's zoning between Christians and Muslims in Kaduna. Plus dozens of similar cases at lower political levels all over the country.

We all need to understand that when you become president (or governor or whatever) you are the president of everybody. You are not elected to represent just people from your village or state or religion or sect, you are elected to serve everybody. We need to keep this sectarian bullshit out of our politics. We have to demand that public servants park their religion outside when they come to work.

If you are an Anglican from Enugu, you should think about writing to your bishop and Archbishop and tell them to STFU and stop embarrassing you. One of the reasons I'm living openly as an atheist is because I refuse to allow any religious clown claiming to represent me to make any such silly statements on my behalf. I may just be one little drop of water, but I refuse to contribute to their dirty bucket.

In a clear example of the kind of idïocy you get when you mix religion and politics with an ignorant parochial mentality, the Anglican church in Enugu is demanding that the post of deputy governor be zoned to one of its members. The Anglican archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma made this sënseless demand at a press briefing attended by 7 other Anglican bishops.

Apparently, these people think that Enugu is a cake that Catholics and Anglicans get to divide among themselves. They think politicians are defined by their religion first and foremost, ahead of any other thing. It doesn't bother them that Pentecostals, Traditionalists, Atheists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Eckankar, Guru Maharaji followers and other religious groups don't have a candidate. Just that the Anglicans must have or else! The PDP and all other parties must change their primary procedures to accommodate the Anglicans. Because their unfounded beliefs are better than every other religion's unfounded beliefs.

From the Daily Trust, via allafrica.com:

Enugu — The Anglican Church in Enugu State has faulted alleged attempts by Governor Sullivan Chime to install Catholics as governor and deputy governor of the state next year.

The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Dr Emmanuel Chukwuma, disclosed the stance of the church at a news conference in Enugu yesterday.

Flanked at the briefing by seven other Anglican bishops, Chukwuma warned that there would be crisis in the state if an Anglican is not made deputy governor.

According to him, the administration of Governor Chime has done many things to marginalise Anglicans in the state, and they have tolerated him enough. He said if the governor wants trouble before leaving office, the Anglicans were ready to give it to him.

He stated clearly that Anglicans were unhappy with their marginalisation in the state politics.

Chukwuma said he regretted that Governor Chime has not appreciated the Anglicans despite the fact that one of them, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, is a "very great chief mover of politics in the state," who with their support, has conceded a lot to making peace prevail in the state.

He said the Anglicans were getting discouraged by the way Chime failed to appreciate that even his second term was made possible by Ekweremadu and is now trying to marginalise Anglicans.

ToE is not saying "we don't know/care about external agency in evolution". It is claiming that there is NO external agency.

This is a positive claim that requires proof for it to be a theory, and not just an hypothesis.
"There is no external agent" is a positive claim? That word no, does it mean something else in your village? If I said there was no invisible pink monkey on top of my house, would you ask me for proof?

The randomness they are talking about is modeled on Brownian motion.

There is no model or research that quantifies the expected rate of mutation (and hence evolution) using molecular Brownian motion.

So the most that can be said is that the agency, if any, is unknown. We don't know if Brownian motion (+ natural selection) is sufficient to produce the RATE of evolution.

So ToE remains an hypothesis.
I don't know where you are getting this Brownian motion stuff from. I'm starting to think I'm being trolled. But just in case you actually believe this, Einstein derived the equations that describe Brownian motion in 1905, long after Darwin wrote his book.

I'm curious about how you found out so much about me and my antecedents. Are you a psychic? Are you a witch? No wait, does TB Joshua have a Nairaland account?! It's such an honour to meet you sir!

there are PLENTY of published papers already refuting many aspects of the ToE so to me, this rant is basically evidence that you just don't read. Here are a few examples -

Michael J. Behe, [snip]
Please note that I didn't ask for papers refuting the ToE. I asked for an alternative to it. Its easy to criticise and point out flaws whether real or imagined. Its another kettle of fish to come up with a better model that explains all the phenomena that Darwin's theory predicted while making its own testable predictions. None of your creationist heroes has ever succeeded in doing that. Einstein did it to Newton so it shouldn't be that hard given how abstract physics is compared to biology. And please note that ID doesn't count since it doesn't make predictions and it doesn't agree with observations or experimetal findings. Using Find and Replace to remove the word God from a Christian storybook doesn't change it into a scientific document.

Also, lol at Michael Behe. That brought a smile to my face, thanks.

this is sheer hypocrisy. Virtually all the creationist refutations of the ToE has been based on factual scientific inconsistencies. On the other hand, your own support for ToE is largely based on "some scientists published it so it must be right".
Again, you need to give us an alternative model, not just complaining about ToE. And my support of the ToE is based on the fact that I thought it through from first principles and reached largely the same conclusions Darwin did. Also, there's the small matter of the over 98% of biologists who believe in it and consider it to be the foundation of their field. Accepting scientific consensus is far from a perfect system, but it's better that following fringe crackpots.

On the other hand, all you've done is propose nonsensical fantasy, pretend it was all in humor then insult the OP because he supports an opposing view. I have not read anything remotely objective and scientific about the ToE from you.
Once again I'm asking you to show me specifically the logical flaws in my first post. Silly or no, the post described a process. Tell us exactly why that process is not a plausible explanation for the emergence of the behaviour OP described.

Also, I'll give you $1billion if you can show me where in this thread I insulted OP. I have the cash right here in a Ghana must go. Show me where I insulted him and its yours.

Basically what you've said is no one really knows what they are talking about when they reference ToE. they are just making things up as they go along and changing the theory to fit the facts.
The bolded is how science works, genius. Its only religious people that remain obstinate and refuse to adapt their beliefs to new information. Science is constantly being updated and improved as new facts come to light, and the ToE is no exception.

If you have an alternative theory to the ToE, then publish it and let it compete in the marketplace of ideas. Let others criticise it, find flaws in it, develop it and improve it.

But to keep shouting that a theory you don't like is wrong without demonstrating how it is wrong or providing an alternative model is not helpful. To deliberately misrepresent other peoples ideas to make arguing against them easier is not helpful. Refusing to respond to valid criticism of your own work is not helpful. Trying to disguise your religious beliefs as science is not helpful.

OP could not have better demonstrated what is wrong with the anti-evolution crowd if he was trying to on purpose. All he has done so far is shout "No, no, no!" and insult people. But when his own ideas got torpedoed, he completely ignored it, threw out more insults then started claiming victory.

The bolded is what evolutionist fell back to to confuse themselves after they were found out about the lies. Except the book did not precise extant species or extinct ones. The title implies all species. The book's title is not the "Evolution of Species". Species are living things so any claim about the origin of species is exactly a claim about the origin of living things.
"There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved."
Charles Darwin, Origin of the Species 1st Edition

Stop putting words in the great man's mouth. Darwin was a good scientist who chose his words very carefully so that his meaning would be clear. His book is widely available so you have no excuse be the swallowing the straw man version when the original is at your fingertips. It seems like you've fallen victim to the fraudulent religious apologists who have been dumbing the theory down and twisting it to make it easier to argue against.

Mind you, I don't disagree with evolution theory but to claim that it explains everything and that parts of it has never been successfully disputed are just lies I wanted to point out.
Obviously the theory has been improved since it was first proposed. It originally didn't include Mendelian inheritance and genetic drift. We hadn't discovered DNA so we didn't know how the genetic information was being copied and passed on. We didn't know about epigenetics. But the core of the theory was sound, and Darwin took it all the way to its logical conclusion which is why he's so respected today.

See the lies of evolutionist staring them back in the face. A book that was not addressing the origin of species, called itself what!? THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES.
Go figure.
Origin of species =/= Origin of life. Extant species originate from previously existing extinct species. Australian marsupials radiated from a common ancestor species. So did Primates. The bonobo species didn't exist 5 million years ago. It evolved from an ancestral species via the process of natural selection.

Or are you one of those geniuses that think all current species have been around all along and that human beings were riding T. rexes to battle during the late Cretaceous?

Christianity EtcRe: Evolution And The Seagull Dance. by EvilBrain1(m): 10:11am On Nov 29, 2014
AlfaSeltzer:
Firstly the theory of evolution adapts to new discoveries and changes through the years. This is not a bad thing because that's how science works. Example the theory of evolution used to affirm that life started via a single molecule that somehow came alive with the right combination of chemicals. Today the theory has evolved and is saying that it does not deal with the origin of life.
Actually, in his Origin of the Species, Darwin was very clear that his theory didn't address where the first life came from. The man did really good science and it is amazing how much he got right at the first attempt.

Genetics is complicated. There are confirmed predicted outcome of evolution theory but there are also outcomes that contradicted the theory. Infact, most of the changes to evolution theory was due to discoveries in genetics.
Genetics has lead to a lot of surprises and new discoveries, but that is mainly because of the way scientists used to classify animals. Before, taxonomy was based mainly on anatomy which lead to some mistakes due to things like convergent evolution where 2 unrelated species end up with similar features. Now that we can look directly at DNA, we've been able to rearrange the family tree and fix those problems. But the core theory of evolution hasn't changed that much since we added Mendelian inheritance and genetic drift to it.

Example, genetics showed that evolution of present species are not vertical like in "family tree" representations that we are used to. Rather there are many horizontal links between species. Genetics has shown that we share more than 70% of our dna with sea sponges. Same amount we share with some species of monkeys. But sea sponges are not considered our cousins. How come?
As far as I know those horizontal links are mostly seen in unicellular life that shares DNA and the occasional hybrid species. There's also viral DNA that gets incorporated into that of higher animals such as humans.

Also, sea sponges are our cousins. Cucumbers are our more distant cousins. All living things known to man descended from a common ancestor and we share DNA even with bacteria.
Christianity EtcRe: Evolution And The Seagull Dance. by EvilBrain1(m): 12:41am On Nov 29, 2014
Emmalot121:
Evolution is not science. It is impossible to determine the origin of life. It cannot be tested or the entire scenario repeated. It, unlike religious origin can be changed or manipulated.
First of all,the ToE doesn't attempt to explain the origin of life. It only deals with how life behaves and changes once it exists. Its a common misconception that many people have but its important you understand that.

Also, I would be very careful before proclaiming that something is impossible for science. If you look at the historical trend you'll see that its not in your favour. Simple things like cell phones would have looked like powerful witchcraft just a hundred or so years ago and the pace of technology is only increasing.

Plus we're already well underway to deciphering the origin of life. Its possible that that problem could even be solved in our lifetime. Watch the video. Its a bit outdated, but it will give you a fair idea of where the research is heading.

I agree with most of your points. Very intelligent write up. Your platform of choice depends on your preference really.

I used to be a PC gamer but switched to consoles for a number of reasons.

PC gaming has too many irks for me. I like to just buy games and play them without worrying about application crashes, direct x compatibility issues or any of the other numerous bugs that plague PC gaming. I once downloaded Just Cause 3 for PC only for it to crash at the opening sequence numerous times. i re-downloaded it 2wice and it still crashed. Only for me to find out i needed to install the alpha driver of my current GPU driver and i had the beta version. Why should i have to downgrade my driver version to game? Or my days of playing career in FIFA 12 when the game chose to crash after at the end of the season. Do you know how frustrating it is to play a whole season only to be denied progression into the next season? I could go on and on.

Secondly, i am a social gamer. I am always online. One of the advantages of PC gaming is that its supposed to be cheaper. But the pirated versions of most AAA games dont connect to the servers because of DRM authorization restrictions. If you want to play online with PC games, then you have to buy the game. And AAA games cost the same on PC and consoles. If it costs the same, i would rather be on consoles.

Then there are exclusives but we have covered that.

But if you love graphics so much and dont really care about exclusives, then PC gaming is perfect for you.
All those issues you mentioned have been solved by Steam. They've dealt with the DRM issues, it installs the games for you including DirectX and any other dependencies, keeps them updated, backs up your saves to the cloud (so you can continue your game on another computer) and it has by far the most vibrant community with over 100 million active users and 8 million online concurrently.

And Steam games are crazily cheap so you won't even need to pirate. They're constantly having sales that can be as much as 90% off. I got Tomb Raider for $4 a few weeks ago. Before that, Metro: Last Light including all DLC for $5, that's less than N1000! Then there's Humble Bundles, other retailers that support Steam like Green Man Gaming, there's key sellers offering insane discounts, and you can even buy discs and activate them on steam.

PC gaming is completely different from what it was a few years ago. You have no idea what you're missing.

He is educating us all on who Richard Dawkins is, because none of us know who he is (only EvilBrain1), or his theory of memes and other stupidity that models people as automatons with only an illusion of choice.

And this video is the first one any of us have come across, so EvilBrain is here to educate us on who Dawkins "happens to be" and what books he has written. What would we do without EvilBrain to explain all this to us.

The reason I will not waste time on this Dawkins video is precisely because I have seen him lecture, seen him debate, heard his hypotheses, etc. He is not a foremost biologist. He is famous for popularizing genetics and talking about spaghetti monsters and flying teapots. His popular books made him famous, not his scholarship. He is an intellectual lightweight. Time and again I have seen him blown away, with his audience having more intellectual capacity than he has. He has spawned a mass of vocal, but dim, followers who regurgitate science at the most superficial level. That is his main legacy. Many of his peers have called him an embarrassment.
I'm seeing a pattern here.

Before, you attacked me for mentioning Jesus and using the term brain touch while completely failing to address the plain logic in my first post. Now you're abusing me for telling you who Dawkins is while ignoring the fact that the video you don't have time to watch has destroyed your core thesis within its first 7 minutes.

Its funny you keep calling people peasants but you are the peasant. I now understand why you are a PC gamer. Its a money issue. So you cant afford a $50 per annum psn subscription. Lmao. Stick to your PC. PC gaming is cheaper. I'm so sorry peasant. Enjoy your cheap a** 102 free steam games.

Its funny that you brag about total war or civilization when the big boys will be playing playing far more exciting and exclusive AAA titles like The order, Bloodborne, titanfall and sunset overdrive. Is that why you PC gamers buy 4th generation intel processors, nvidia titan GPU's and 4k Tvs; just to play civilization? Lmao. dumbest s*** i ever heard.

What relevant exclusives do PC gamers have? Microsoft has already abandoned the PC by excluding them from most of their latest blockbusters (Halo the master chief collection, sunset overdrive, Forza horizon 5). Even 2015 titles like quantum break and Halo 5 are not coming to PC. The result is that you PC gamers are left with crappy low budget steam games. Suitable for peasants like you that cant pay the price for premium gaming.

Besides, if i wanted to play civilization or total war, i dont need a high end PC to do it. It can easily run it on any low to medium end PC. Your horse is starting to look extremely low, huh?

By the way i own a dell xps 17 with intel core i7 quad core processor and dedicated 3gb nvidia GPU.

When you make more bread, switch up to premium gaming.

Peasant.
The fact that I chose to spend my money in a way that gives me maximum benefit doesn't make me a peasant. Why should I pay money for a service that I can get a better version of elsewhere for free? Peasantry is living in sqaulor even when you have no reason to. Peasantry is a thing of the mind, it has nothing to do with your wallet.

Also you don't need a high end PC to play any PC game. You can run pretty much all of them on midrange or low end rigs (the notable exception being the poorly coded abomination that is Assassin's Creed Unity). My 2 year old Ivy Bridge i3 work laptop with integrated graphics easily outperforms the last gen consoles. And you can now build a rig that kills the PS4 for $450. The cost of entry for PC gaming is extremely low but you have the option of spending extra if you like eye candy.

As for the games, Titanfall is available on PC, Sunset Overdrive is coming soon (Microsoft's 3rd party exclusives are timed and they've already leaked advertising for the PC version). Forza seems nice, but the PC has Asseto Corsa, iRacing (the game professional drivers use to practice) and by far the best version of Project Cars. Bloodborne is interesting but it and the handful of real exclusives aren't worth the cost of a new PS4. If I were to buy a console for exclusives it would be a WiiU for Mario Kart, Smash Brothers and Zelda. Its funny that the console that has by far the best exclusives is the one nobody is buying.

The funny thing about PC gaming is the way it allows you to discover new experiences. I abandoned consoles because I was a graphics whõre, yet the games I've spent the most time playing are FTL (a brilliant indie Star Trek simulator) and Rome: Total War (a 10 year old strategy game). And despite its age, Rome still has a huge community playing multiplayer, creating mods and discussing on forums. Plus the game is still being updated by its developer. Compare that to last year's COD: Ghosts on consoles that is already a ghost town.

Okay, now that you have explained it in the simplest way that anyone with minimum common sense can understand, do you really think it registered?
Common sense is not as common as it sounds.
I didn't type all that just for OP. I typed it for all the impressionable minds who might happen to read this thread. This is a public service, I'm trying to reduce the general retârdation level on Nairaland. For all we know, the next Goodluck Jonathan may be reading this. I might just have saved millions of lives.

1. Nobody mentioned Jesus, but as I anticipated in the OP, some illogical person will enter the thread and start arguing backwards.
I mentioned Jesus. I like Jesus. Jesus is funny.

2. Your idea of a brain touch is pure naivety and desperation to make the facts fit your belief.
I was trying to use humour and to dumb things down to make it easy for you like plaetton has kindly observed. Maybe it wasn't dumb enough. Maybe I should try using baby sounds. Hmmm... this is going to be tough.

3. Your assumptions that the birds don't know what they are doing is ignorant.
As far as I'm aware, birds don't know what they are doing. I know that I haven't seen any bird authored treatises on the existential meaning of worm eating and car pooping in the literature. I can't be 100% sure though. If you're aware of any please post a link abeg

4. I am guessing that you have never seen the behaviour in real life, first hand, then stopped to think about it or use your own initiative. Your lengthy knee-jerk response smacks of brainwashing.
No I haven't seen the behaviour in person. I'm not a nature documentary filmmaker. That doesn't stop me from thinking up a plausible mechanism for how it evolved.

5. These are some of my own ideas..I have seen the behaviour first hand.
Good you've seen it! That means you can answer the most important question: Whose tap dancing style did they use? Frank Sinatra? Fred Astaire? Sammy Davies Jr? Gregory Hines? I'm guessing Gregory Hines...

Now...

The seagull behaviour bla bla bla...
Whatever methods the seagulls use to do their thing, the fact is that it evolved through natural selection. That is the only natural mechanism by which such complex behaviour has ever been shown to emerge. If you happen to know a different mechanism, please PM me and let me know so we can write a paper and collect our Nobel prize. Let me be the Watson and Crick to your Rosalind Franklin. You make the breakthrough while I collect the credit.

Behold!

This post was of such utmost stupidity that I initially thought it was a deliberate comedy sketch -- a parody of stupidity.

Maybe it is. If so, well done...very skilful. If not, then it is the dumbest post I have encountered so far on Nairaland.
I'm going to have to ask you to go through my post and list, very specifically, all the things I wrote that you found stupìd.

You sound very confident that you can make a fool out of me. Well here I am sticking my chin out. Hit me with your best shot.

shut up dumbass. you pc gamers...always on your high horse. so what if i play in 900p?? forgive me if i fail to notice the lack of extra 180p when I'm playing frantic fast paced games like sunset overdrive or halo the master chief collection??

how does sunset overdrive look on ur pc? oh...i forgot it doesnt have a pc release. haha. PC gamers are excluded form some of the biggest releases of all time. Tell me, have you played infamous, killzone, sunset overdrive, the last of us remastered or GTA V?? or will you be able to play unchartered 4, God of war 4, halo 5, bloodborne or the order 1886 when they release next year? no. cuz those titles arnt coming to the pc. so what the Bleep are you making noise about.

Why should i have to worry about spending substantial amounts to upgrade my graphics card when i can just buy a console and play till my hearts content?? not to mention the numerous glitches and bugs PC gamers have to deal with.

so sit the Bleep down and let us hear word

Silence!!!

The reason we PC gamers are always on our high horses is because our horses are so high. Why would we want to climb down and mix with the unwashed masses? If consoles were horses, peasants would ride.

And to say the difference between 1080p and 900p is "180 extra p" is peasant arithmetic. FYI 1080p has 44% more pixels than than 900p and 4 times that of 720p. Resolution measures area, not length. Plus if 1080 isn't enough for you, you can always try 1440p, or 4k. You can try 640x360 if thats what tickles your nìpples. With PC gaming, you can have whatever you like.

Also PCs have more exclusives than all 3 current gen consoles put together. We have enough corridor shooters and 3rd person hack and slash games, thank you. Personally I prefer more cerebral games than that. Maybe when they port Civilization: Beyond Earth, or Rome 2: Total War to PlayStation, we'll talk.

Also I see you have a PSN subscription. How much was it? Was it expensive? Why don't you just add the PSN money to the cash you'll save on the far cheaper PC games so you can buy yourself a decent video card? The only way consoles are cheaper is if you never buy games and you don't plan to be alive in the next 18 months. Any longer than that and PC gaming is far cheaper.

Hell, I have 102 games on my steam account plus a dozen or so more between Origin and GOG. Yet together, they all cost less than half of the 12k I blew on a single brand new Grand Theft Auto 4 disk back in my plebBox360 days. You see I was once a peasant too. But I scratched my way up from the gutter until I reached enlightenment.

You can do it. Come with me, hold my hand, let me take you towards the light.

The problem here is that ToE postulates small steps that build more complex outcomes.

What we have here is a behaviour (seagull running on the spot) and its reward (a worm).

But the link between the reward and the action appears to be very subtle, both because it is sporadic (worm may not appear) and deferred (worm typically would appear only after several minutes).

As this running on the spot behaviour seems to have no other function, how did the seagull come to anticipate such a seemingly remote reward, without using logic?

How can you break the behaviour down into small evolutionary steps of immediate reward, leading to the final complex behaviour?
What the hell is wrong with you people? How many times does someone have to explain natural selection to you before you get it? Why can't you read a book or watch a YouTube video and comprehend like a normal person? I'm tired of repeating this stuff! What the hell!

Look, all living things reproduce. All living things have offspring that are similar to their parents but different in tiny ways that makes each individual unique. Some of those differences favour survival, some make no difference, and some are disadvantages. All living things have more offspring than the environment can support meaning that many or most will die off before adulthood and they all have to compete to survive. Nature selects those who have traits that favour survival and kills off those who don't. Therefore any population of living things will gradually slowly change in appearance, physiology and behaviour as nature and death molds them to fit their environment.

Once upon a time a seagull was born with a type of brain touch that made it behave wierdly and keep running along the ground for no good reason. Somehow, food inexplicably kept coming out of the earth and the seagull ate very well. Because of its constant good diet the seagull grew big and strong and had plenty of seagull babies many of whom also inherited the brain touch. The seagull's babies survived more than those of his mates because of the highly proteinaceous food he kept bringing home. Soon there were plenty of young brain touched seagulls running along the ground and eating the food that strangely kept coming out. The next time there was a drought, many seagulls starved and died but the brain touched seagull's offspring flourished, outcompeted the others and became dominant. Meanwhile even among the brain touched seagulls, some ran in subtly different ways that brought out more or less food. Those whose running style brought out more food out competed those whose brought out less and became dominant. And so, over a long period of time, nature and death continued to shape the seagull population until we ended up with a bunch of birds all of whom can tapdance expertly to attract worms. And that's when some stupìd Christians showed up and claimed it was because of Jesus. It wasn't because of Jesus.

Please note that there is no intelligence or planning involved here. The seagulls have no clue what they are doing, they're just following instincts they were born with. The fact that they exist is solely due to their ancestors having survived and passed on those traits. Also nature doesn't know or care what is happening because it is not intelligent or conscious. Nature is not trying to evolve better seagulls. Its just that the nature of living things and the laws of the universe mean that evolution and increasing complexity are inevitable.

Understand?
