If anybody needs proof of how religion perverts people's innate morality, just look at this thread. OP is stealing bandwidth from a company owned by people who invested their hard earned money, a company whose staff depend on it to feed their kids. He's slowing down the service of those of us who pay and making things more expensive for everybody. Yet he's looking for the passage in the magic book that says its wrong. Meanwhile, in Syria, other believers are looking for the passage that says beheading and crucifying non-Muslims is wrong. Same shít, different toilet. |
tartar9:The "Tripoli Province of the Islamic State" the people who made the video decribed the murdered hostages as "people of the cross" and "followers of the hostile egyptian church". One of the guys in the video said that the killings were revenge for the "murder of Osama bin Laden" and promised that ISIS would conquer Rome. They were killed for being christian. This is your religion. I hope you are proud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaHaWta7AFI |
I've had this debate with one or two of my Muslim friends and they are all determined not to believe that what ISIS is doing is straight from the Koran and the Sunnah. It doesn't matter how much evidence you show them and how many articles you link to, they want to believe that Islam is a religion of peace so they'll keep telling themselves that no matter what the reality is. What is going to have to happen is that ISIS and similar groups (also, Saudi Arabia) are going to keep slaughtering people and and using Islam to justify it. And slowly the sheer evilness will discredit Islam they way it did Christianity in Europe. ISIS is working hard to distribute its materials justifying their evil behavior via the internet. Gradually, more and more people will read them, check the sources and realize that it's all true. Many people will realize what a true Muslim is and decide that they don't want to live like that. Because humans are by nature an empathetic and cooperative species, we don't like the torturing and killing of others even when it doesn't affect us directly. I'm starting to think that ISIS is going to destroy Islam as an ideology the same way the Catholic church destroyed Christianity in Europe. The institutions will remain, but they'll have no political power and people will largely ignore them whenevery they give their opinions on how to go bout life. This has already happened before in the Islamic world. The Ottoman empire was the direct continuation of the empire conquered by the prophet Mohammed, but in the 1920s and 30s, they got rid of all the Islamic bullshît from their laws and created Turkey, the most radically secular country in the world. It can happen again. But maybe I'm just deceiving myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaHaWta7AFI https://i.imgur.com/2VcZwG9.jpg https://wp.patheos.com.s3.amazonaws.com/blogs/progressivesecularhumanist/files/2014/04/proud-to-be-atheist.jpg |
flakesy01:If you read my original post, you'll see that I highlighted all the sources in bold. There is no misinformation and everything I posted is from authentic sunnah. While you continue to tell yourself that the prophet was the best of humanity, you fellow Muslims in ISIS and Boko Haram are analyzing his words and deeds and replicating them as closely as possible. If you don't agree with what Boko Haram is doing, that means you don't agree with the example of the prophet. If you condemn Boko Haram, then you condemn the prophet. You need to face the reality of your religion. You need to stop claiming that ISIS and Boko Haram are somehow not real Muslims. The truth is that they are more Muslim than you. |
Ikengawo:Its true. Yesterday night I saw Tinubu sneaking out Egbin power station with 500 megawatts hidden in his agbada. These APC crooks will do anything to make GEJ's government look ineffective and useless. Shame on them! GEJ till Nigeria has run down finally. |
ribbit:This is not very helpful please. We're trying to encourage Muslims to be honest to themselves about their religion. Insulting them will just make them put up mental defenses and stop listening. |
abraka00:Buhari is wallowing in corruption? Please elaborate. |
purplekayc:How are they not credible? They all sell legit keys, they all have legal agreements with the game developers and publishers. Whats your criteria for credibility and how does gog.com, for instance, fail the test? The fact that all of them (including Steam) offer older and indie games for low prices doesn't mean they aren't credible. Nobody is forcing you buy indie games. You can pre-order GTA5 or the Witcher 3 for full price on many of the smaller sites if you want. Its just that if you're patient and wait for the games to go on sale (as they do quite frequently) you can save a lot of money while still supporting the developers. Whatever you do, you need to stop pirating. It's seriously not cool. |
JMAN05:Actually, the bible doesn't say anything about Leprosy the disease. The Hebrew word that gets translated as leprosy is "Tzaraath" which refers to any condition causing scaly skin. Scaly skin can be caused by the disease we now call leprosy, but it can also be caused by many other conditions like syphilis and non infectious diseases like psoriasis. Also, non-living things like clothes and houses could also have tzaraath. Clearly the ancient hebrews had no clue about Leprosy as a distinct disease. If you still have have doubts, read Leviticus 14 and let us know if the home video juju ritual it describes is likely to cure leprosy in your opinion. The World Book Encyclopedia says: “All the chemical elements that make up living things are also present in nonliving matter.”How does this suggest that we came from dust? Unless you're saying that dust mean any preexisting matter, in which case your statement is obvious and hardly worth stating. The bible saying 1+1=2 wouldn't be proof of a divine author, neither is this. All you presented are speculations which different evolutionist come with. None of those rubbish are based on observation and experiments. Those are speculations of what was claimed to have happened years back. You know how scientific method goes, NOT those speculations you pasted there.I admire the way you casually dismissed the peer reviewed scientific papers I linked to. 6 different sets of rigorously done scientific experiments that have been replicated and verified by independent scientific teams is just "speculation"? You should go and work for a tobacco company, or those climate change denying oil companies. You'd fit in very well there. Also, the irreducible complexity argument is nonsense, it only exposes your lack of understanding of evolution. If you'd taken the time to actually learn what the theory says, you'd know why complexity is not a problem and start arguing more intelligently. There are plenty potential ways to prove evolution wrong, but the complexity of life is not one of them. In any case, my last post wasn't about evolution, it was about life emerging from non-living precursors, Abiogenesis. Completely different field, and your canned anti-evolution arguments do not apply. Now please, actually read the stuff I posted and say something sensible. You can ask questions if there's anything that isn't clear, I'll try and explain as best I can. But you need to drop that smug attitude, and realize that you cant just read one small magic book and assume you know anything. |
By the time these PDP people are finished, Nigeria will be a pariah nation. They want to destroy all our credibility as a democratic country just to stay in power against the people's wishes. Soon nobody will want to touch us, foreign investors will take their money and run and we'll be back to the Abacha days; except with more corruption. |
This is the mother of all opportunity costs. |
tartar9:Did you even read the article at all? There are at least 4 examples of Muhammad himself ordering people to be burnt and another one when he talked about it but didn't carry it out. All examples are fully referenced and come from authentic hadiths. All good Muslims will be familiar with the story of Kinanah bin al-Rabi of the Banu al-Nadir who was tortured to death with a fire built on his chest because Allah's messenger wanted him to reveal where his tribe's wealth was hidden. Incidentally, the prophet Muhammad also seized and slept with Kinanah's wife, Safiyyah; apparently on the very same day he'd had her husband killed. This is another of his actions that the true Muslims of ISIS and Boko Haram like to emulate. |
Your pastors have sold their souls to collect stolen money from politicians and history will judge them harshly. Adeboye, Oyedepo, Oristsejafor and co are only looking after their own pockets. You Christians had better wake up and look after yours. The exchange rate is now N199.95 to the dollar. Your salary and your savings have reduced by more than 25% in the past 6 months and will reduce further. All thanks to Jonathan's overspending, corruption and his incompetent handling of the economy. Vote wisely. |
Interim what!?!? Are these people insane? Is this the beginning of another PDP whisper campaign or what? The elections will hold minimum of 30 days before May 29th, Nigerians will vote for who they like, and Jonathan and his clown posse will hand over at the appropriate time. There will be no compromise, and no negotiation. These people clearly don't know who they're messing with. May they never have to find out. |
OP needs to provide a sauce. Stop peddling rumours. Proof or GTFO. |
JMAN05:Every culture has known about contagious diseases for thousands of years. Ancient people were not stupid, they would have noticed that some diseases tended to spread among close contacts. Even animals know this. To claim that people didn't know that they should isolate people with contagious diseases before they saw it in the bible is stüpid. which scientific method was used to ascertain we were made from dust? We're not made from dust, that's just stüpid. Where is that science book which proves imperically that life comes from nonliving thing?Abiogenesis is a very rapidly evolving field and a lot of breakthroughs have been made in recent years. There is still work to be done before we figure out how to create life de novo, but things are moving very fast and the problem might even be solved in our lifetime. This video is a bit outdated, but it gives a good general overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgQLyqWaCbA If you want the hard unprocessed science stuff, here's some links: Nucleotides naturally forming spontaneously Amino acids forming spontaneously in space Amino acids spontaneously forming functional proteins Metabolic pathways (probably the most important feature of living things) appearing spontaneously. Spontaneous formation of protocells. Spontaneously forming protocells that self replicate and grow. Sauce: Reddit user /u/Superb_Simian The evidence we have strongly suggests that given the conditions that existed in the early earth, the appearance of life is basically inevitable. And Darwin has already shown us what always happens when you have living things, competition and time. In short, there is no need for a god to explain anything about life on earth. Make good use of that brain pls. This is good advice. I totally agree. |
flakesy01:Was the prophet Muhammad also decieved by Shaitan when he ordered that "hypocrites" and enemies of Islam be burnt alive? Or was he too not s true muslim? And if IS aren't true muslims, how come their knowledge of the Islamic scriptures and jurisprudencr is so superior to that of "real" muslims? How come they can justify everything they do using the koran and the Sunnah? You need to stop hiding behind your ignorance and learn true Islam. Because your "religion of peace" is not the same religion the prophet Muhammad practiced or preached. The prophet Muhammad was not a man of peace, we was a fighter, just like ISIS and Boko Haram. And if you are going to condemn those who are following the prophet's example, then you are not a muslim. |
JMAN05:Its better to say you don't know than to make up stories. Its better to admit you don't know than to believe things that are demonstrably false. |
Last week the whole world rose to condemn the Islamic State for burning a Jordanian pilot alive. Many muslims joined in the condemnation saying that burning people alive was against the teachings of Islam. But is this really true? The IS is known for their remarkable scholarship and their ability to justify virtually all of their violent acts by quoting the Koran, the teachings of the prophet or examples from his life. FrontpageMag.com has published a detailed analysis of Islamic scripture and shown that burning people is not only Islamic, but that the prophet and his first companions also did the same. Its a very long read, but worth it for those who desire a deeper understanding of Islam. In December 2014, Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh, a 26-year-old Jordanian Air Force pilot, was flying his F-16 in Syria in support of a U.S.-led coalition raid on the Islamic State (IS). During this mission his plane crashed near Raqqa, and he was captured by IS fighters. On February 3, 2015, Lt. al-Kaseasbeh was burned alive by IS. An IS-released video of the burning was titled Healing the Believers Chests, an apparent reference to 9:14 of the Koran.http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/dr-stephen-m-kirby/islam-and-burning-people-alive/ |
dorox:The RSV and its derivatives are widely held by bible scholars to be the most accurate translations that are closest in meaning to the original Hebrew (old testament) and Greek (new testament) sources. If you want flowery, but inaccurate language, read KJV. If you want a good translation, read RSV. |
Amazing! These people have succeeded in turning lies into truth. Some people actually believe that magic plane theory. Humanity is finished! There is no hope! |
Rilwayne001:No, but I support equality for gays (and everybody else) out of enlightened self interest. The anti-gay marriage law was Christians and Muslims ganging up together to impose their sharia beliefs on a helpless minority and stripping them of their constitutional protections. It's not hard to see that if they can do that, then they can come after atheists like me as well. Everybody is in the minority in one way or another. People's constitutional rights must remain sacrosanct no matter how disgusting you think they are. Otherwise, our democracy will end up as 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what to eat for dinner. It won't be long before you find yourself on the menu. There's an old thread where I thrashed out this issue when the bill was still in the senate. Read it and get back to me. |
EUROBOMBER:Personally, I don't care if Nigeria explodes. I don't care if Boko Haram kills every single man, woman and child. I don't care if the Naira becomes as worthless as toilet paper. I don't care if corrupt politicians steal every kobo of our money and leave billions of dollars in debt for our children to pay. I don't care if there's no light. I don't care how much unemployment, poverty and suffering there is. As long as the next president is from my village or somewhere nearby, Nigeria can go to blazes. That is the only thing that matters. The president must be from my village. Those northerners think they are born to rule. Let them know that it is only my village that is born to rule. All those people that are suffering and dying in the northeast because of government callousness and incompetence can go to hell! The president must be from my village! |
ebbie9ja:They'll learn. Nigeria is not different from other countries no matter what people say. If it works elsewhere, it will work here. We just need to stop being deceived by religious and tribal nonsense. |
oyb:I remember the first time I became aware of Goodluck Jonathan back when he was a deputy governor. Alamco had just been arrested in London and NTA went to interview him. It was a delicate situation that GEJ possibly stood to benefit from and I expected him to pick his words very carefully. Instead he said he was 100% behind Alams and didn't even care that the guy had stolen his people's money. A few weeks later, Alams had escaped (and was claiming God had magically teleported him to Yenagoa), the London police had showed their evidence and everybody was condemning him. And there was Jonathan again on NTA supporting his fugitive thief of a boss 100% even when the Bayelsa people were protesting out of embarrassment. There was no hedging, no nuance , no sublety in his language, no hint that he had any problem with the blatant stealing. Just 100% blind loyalty. I remember thinking: "What a möron!". |
CyrusXandria:Jonathwn signed the bill therefore he's responsible for it, no excuses. He could easily have rejected it until the national assembly removed all the unconstitutional parts. He could even have had the Justice ministry draft a version that didnt strip people of basic human rights and sent it to the legislators under the table. Instead, he chose to throw gay people under the bus in order to distract attention from his own faiked government. Jonathan is not as stüpid as eveyone makes him out to be. Shortsighted, yes; selfish; definitely but not that stüpid I'd be voting Jonathan out for the many things he never did not the one thing he did.I don't see Buhari being any different,he and Osinbanjo come across as people who would append their signatures to harsher law,am sure the both of them support the law.GEJ may be the only one to undo his mistake,Buhari in power may be another 4-8years of persecution to the gay community,a bad precedent for Nigerian democracy. If you think Jonathan cares enough about gay people to go through the trouble of fixing that law, youre on a long tin. This is a man who was smiling and dancing at a rally less than 24hours after 59 boys were murdered at a Federal Government College. A man who was sending condolences to France over 11 deaths when he hadnt even mentioned the 2000 of our own people who died the same time. Let me assure you that he doesnt give a fück about gay people. We shouldnt assume the worst about Buhari and Osibanjo especially since they havent addressed the subject. Plus this election is not about voting for Buhari, its about punishing the incumbent for his terrible performance. If Buhari gets there and misbehaves, we'll vote him out as well in 2019. Eventually the politicians will see the pattern and theyll learn. |
purplekayc:Right now as Im typing this, the entire Square-Enix catalogue of 32 games is on sale for $32. That incluses the entire Tomb Raider franchise, LaraCroft and the Temple of Osiris, the entire Hitman franchise, the entire Deus-Ex franchise, plus over a dozen other games for less than N6500. Plus you can buy them all individually, the latest Tomb Raider is 75% off so you can get it for less than N800 (the game is fantastic!). On humblebundle.com you can pay whatever you want for a dozen Star Wars games. You can pay $0.01 if youre really stingy and still get most of the games. EA regularly gives out games for free on their Origin service, I got Battlefield 3 and Dragon Age: Origins for free from them. Then theres games like Dota2, LoL, Team Fortress 2 that are free to play. People on the internet will even dash you free games if you ask them nicely. I've even posted free Steam keys on this thread before. In this day and age, there is no excuse for pirating games. You are taking food out of someboy's child's mouth. Most game developers are not millionaires like actors or musicians. They work long and hard to make this stuff. And its not like you'll die if you dont play the latest games immediately. You have a debit card, you can afford it, and its cheap so pay for your games. Don't be evil. |
