PoliticsParents Now Donating Their Daughters To Boko Haram For Bombing Missions by ExAngel007(op): 7:35am On Aug 06, 2017
The Nigerian Army has appealed to religious, traditional and community leaders, and well-meaning Nigerians in the North- East, to dissuade their people from donating their daughters to Boko Haram for indoctrination and bombing missions.

The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman explained in a statement on Saturday that the appeal became necessary following revelations by some intercepted female bombers during interrogations.

“It was discovered that most of these hapless minors were “donated” to the terrorists sect by their heartless and misguided parents and guardians, as part of their contribution to the perpetuation of the Boko Haram terrorists’ dastardly acts against the Nigerian society and humanity.

“The acts of these parents and guardians are not only barbaric, but condemnable and unacceptable.

“Nigerians have a responsibility and obligation to collectively mould our children and wards and define a better future for them rather than condemning them to death by the criminal Boko Haram terrorists and their sympathisers through bombings,” Usman said.

He urged the people to be more vigilant, security conscious and report any suspicious persons or those whose daughters or female wards are missing or have not been seen recently.

” You can report by calling 193 on any network.

“The public is also reminded that the Nigerian Army’s offer and reward of the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00) to anybody that provide information about bombing, is still valid,” he added.

Politics20 Years After: 7 Fela Quotes That Nigerians Will Always Remember by ExAngel007(op): 12:49pm On Aug 02, 2017
On August 2, 1997, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, also professionally known as Fela Kuti and simply Fela died. Even in death, Fela was as mysterious, many said he died of complications related to HIV/AIDS although there has been no definitive proof.

Twenty years later, on August 2, 2017, Fela stays true to his title of Abami Eda (a Yoruba appellation loosely translated mysterious or weird creature), his song lyrics, his politics and many brushes with the authorities as he stood against oppression continue to inspire many.

Some of his quotes are found in his songs and speeches, and till this day Nigerians continually infuse them in everyday speech.

1. As a play on the 'A fool at 40 quote', Fela once said:"They say a fool at 40's a fool forever. I won't say that to my brother. Change if you're a fool at 20/30. Don't wait until u're 40."

2. Most of his songs are filled with powerful imagery and metaphors. In 'Water no get enemy', he said: "Water e no get enemy. If you fight am unless you wan die. I dey talk of black power."

3. As a revolutionary who was never afraid to stand up for his beliefs, Fela was constantly frustrated by the willingness of Nigerians to accept oppression. He said: “My people are scared of the air around them, they always have an excuse not to fight for freedom."

4. He was also constantly interested in the human idea of religion and spirituality, he once said: “To be spiritual is not by praying and going to church. Spiritualism is the understanding of the universe so that it can be a better place to live in."

5. Everyday Nigeria is filled with people suffering at the expense of corrupt politicians and ineffectual leaders and Fela Kuti aptly captured it in his song: 'Shuffering and Smiling'.

Singing: "My people dey 'shuffering' and 'smiling', everyday na the same thing. Suffer, suffer for world, enjoy for heaven."

6. Fela had many run-ins with law enforcement due to his radical stance and views. On one occasion his home, Kalakuta Republic in Ikeja was attacked. He was severely beaten and almost all his property destroyed.

Many think this was a fallout of one of his most controversial songs 'Zombie' in which he launched a scathing attack on the Nigerian military and law enforcement methods.

"Zombie, oh, zombie, Zombie no go go unless you tell am to go, Zombie no go stop unless you tell am to stop. No brake, no jam, no sense. Joro jara joro," Fela sang.

7. He also criticised black women who bleached their skin in Yellow Fever' singing:"Yellow Fever, you dey bleach o, you dey bleach, ugly thing. Who say you fine? Na lie."

PoliticsI Have Stopped My Pension In Kwara – Saraki by ExAngel007(op):
According to Saraki, the move was sequel to complaints from some quarters that former governors who are currently senators or ministers were receiving pension and salary in their new jobs, all from the government.

A civil society organisation, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), had accused the former governors of receiving double pay from government, and said it was illegal. “No, I’m not collecting pension; the moment I saw that allegation, I wrote to my state to stop my pension.

“So, I speak for myself on that part; I’m not doing that, I am not receiving pension from my state,’’ he said.

On other senators involved on the issue, Saraki said “I think I willleave everybody to their individual decision.

“Morally, if you have got another job, you should give it up until when you are truly a pensioner.

“Some of these oversights are not addressing the issues. What the states should do is to go and amend their laws to say that if you have another appointment then you are not entitled to that benefit. “With this, we will just simplify the matter.”

On the role of Bank of Infrastructure in the country, Saraki said that the Senate had not had any serious interface with the bank, but that it was involved in some projects.

“We are not engaging with them particularly. I think that they were part of those involved in the Lagos-Ibadan road. But, I don’t think government should really put funds into that.

“I have this strong view and I feel very strongly about it, that nowhere in the world has government funded infrastructure. “Government cannot, and even if government can fund infrastructure projects, the social sector will suffer – health will suffer and education will suffer.’’

He said there were a lot of complaints that budgetary allocation to health and education was too low, attributing it to the fact that much money was being invested in infrastructure development. Saraki explained that due to the challenges, the National Assembly had passed Bills that would encourage private sector participation in infrastructure development.

“What should happen is that we should try and get private sector to take over some of these infrastructure so that the money can go into education and health.

“By doing that, banks like Bank of infrastructure will come in. “We are really pushing the idea of, particularly, the Lagos-Ibadan road, that appropriating that project from the budget does not show seriousness.

“This is a road that is very viable; that is centre of the commercial activity and we should see how private sector can participate. “For example, even if you go by the budgetary allocation on that road, last year was N30 billion, this year, after back and forth, we took it back to N20 billion.

“This was done so that if they don’t find private funding, we will take it up,’’ he said.

According to him, even if the N30 billion was provided, it will not be enough because that road needs about N100 billion to be completed.

“So, the point I’m making which I want to emphasise is that it is the kind of laws and policies that we pass that will encourage private sector that will make the infrastructure deficit to reduce. “Government alone cannot reduce infrastructure deficit,” Saraki said.

He confirmed that the senators had fulfilled their October, 2016 pledge to contribute N300, 000 each to support Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North-East.

He said that the senate would continue to tackle humanitarian crisis in the North-East through budgetary appropriations.

“I think that to the best of my knowledge, that is happening but it goes beyond just that. I think that we have shown that we will continue to support in form of appropriation of adequate money.

“As you saw just last week, we also approved some foreign loan that will go toward supporting activities in the North-East as palliative means to fight humanitarian crisis.

“We are close to about 800 million dollars we approved for the executive from that point of view.

“We are always ready to support our men and women in uniform to ensure that whatever they required was provided,” Saraki said. He added that the lawmakers had being meeting with a lot of Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to provide support to the North-East.

“We are looking at the possibility of what we can do to create more incentives for Nigerians.

“We are approaching individuals and companies to make more donations and see what kind of concessions they can get for the kind of donations they are making in the North-East,” he said.

CrimePolicemen To Face Trial Over Looting Of Jonathan’s Abuja Home by ExAngel007(op):
By Emma Nnadozie, Crime Editor & Knigsley Omonobi
LAGOS — Mobile policemen guarding the house of former President
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Abuja have allegedly burgled it, carting
away expensive properties worth millions of naira.

Reports on online portal, Premium Times, alleged that the theft was
carried out by three mobile policemen in the residence located at
No. 89, Fourth Avenue in the Gwarimpa district of Abuja.

This came as FCT Police Command disclosed, yesterday that a
case of theft had been reported against the policemen, saying the
suspects were being investigated.

In fact, the Police authorities said they would soon commence
orderly room trial of the policemen.

The stolen items, according to Premium Times, include “sets of
furniture, dozens of plasma television sets, refrigerators, air-
condition units and box-loads of clothes, such as designer suits
imprinted with the former president’s name, male and female Ijaw
traditional attires, lace materials and bowler hats.

“It was gathered that the three mobile police officers allegedly
conducted the systematic looting over a period of three months
beginning from around March 2016, until they totally stripped the
house of all movable items, which they sold piecemeal to dealers at
Panteka second-hand materials market at Tipper Garage,
Gwarimpa.

According to a security source involved in the investigation, by the
time family members of the former President were alerted to the
looting early this month, the house had been stripped bare.

On getting wind of the arrest of the policemen, two dealers who had
been main recipients of the stolen items were said to have closed
down their shops at Panteka market and have since remained at
large.

Whistle-blowing neighbour

The source revealed that the looting was discovered when a
neighbour noticed “severe damage in the house” and called a
member of President Jonathan’s family to ask whether the house
was undergoing renovation.

The former President was said to have personally gone to inspect
the property after which he reported the vandalism to the
Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

“After a team of officers dispatched to the scene confirmed the
crime, Mr. Idris was said to have ordered the arrest of the three
police officers who were still on guard duty at the residence. They
were arrested about two weeks ago,” the source stated.

A trader at Panteka market, who confessed to being close to one of
the fleeing buyers of the stolen items, according to sources, said
the police officers first brought some items to the market for sale in
early 2016.

Sgt Musa at Panteka Market

“It all started sometimes around March 2016 when a mobile police
sergeant came to Tipper Garage market and brought some items for
sale. He approached one of the wholesalers to buy them, but the
trader said he does not buy items from an unconfirmed owner.

“The officer who identified himself as Sergeant Musa told the trader
that he was one of the security men guarding Mr. Jonathan’s
private residence at Gwarimpa. He took the trader to follow him to
confirm that he was not a thief who had come to sell off stolen
properties in the market.

‘’The trader followed him to the residence where he met two other
policemen, an Inspector and a Sergeant. They convinced him that
the items were part of gifts to them,’’ the source said.

Sources said it was noticed subsequently that the stream of
transaction had no end, as Sergeant Musa continued to invite the
trader to the residence to pick up fresh items.

The source said: “At a point, the trader became scared when he
suspected foul play and told Sergeant Musa that he was no longer
interested in the transaction. However, the officer later got another
customer, a wholesaler in the market, who would eventually buy
almost 80 per cent of all the properties removed from President
Jonathan’s residence.

Jonathan had lived in the house for about a year when he was vice
president. His mother was also said to have lived in the house after
the former President moved to Aso Rock Villa upon becoming
Acting President in 2010.

Jonathan’s spokesman confirms burglary

When contacted, former President Jonathan’s spokesman,
Ikechukwu Eze, confirmed the development.

He said: “The house was burgled and I think the police is already
handling the case. I cannot confirm whether the case was reported
to the Inspector-General of Police or not but, I know they must
have made arrests.”

How looted property were sold

Premium Times in its report said that its undercover reporter went
to the Tipper Garage market and found out that both the purchase
and resale of the items were not hidden, as many of the traders
were aware of the racket.

“Whenever particular or specific items of our interest were brought
for sale from Mr. Jonathan’s residence, we used to buy from the
wholesaler who bought them in large quantity,” a trader said.

Further probes by the online portal confirmed that the traders sold
off the stolen items such as suits, women wears, traditional cloth
popularly called ‘babban riga,’ Ankara fabrics at about N5,000.00
apiece and bowler hats. It could, however, not be confirmed how
much the bowler hats were sold. A petty trader at the market said
he witnessed the sale of one of the sets of furniture.

“The policeman sold one to the wholesaler who is now on the run at
N50, 000.00. The wholesaler sold it at N180,000.00 to a lucky
buyer in the market who in turn instantly sold it at N390,000.00.
“I personally bought babban riga , and a suit with Jonathan’s name
printed underneath it at the cost of N5,000.00 each.”

The petty trader, who claimed to be an apprentice at Tipper Garage,
said they were scared when they heard that the three police officers
had been arrested in connection with the theft of the properties
from Mr. Jonathan’s residence.

Three Policemen to face Orderly Room Trial

Confirming, yesterday, that the policemen would face orderly room
trial, spokesman of FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah,
said in a statement: “The FCT Police Command wishes to inform
the general public that it has commenced full-fledged investigation
into the case of theft in the Gwarimpa residence of former
President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

“Preliminary police investigation on the matter has revealed that
some items were found to be missing in the house.

“Meanwhile, the Policemen who are supposed to be on guard duty
at the house have been detained for questioning.

“Investigation to find out what actually happened is currently in
progress. The command wants to assure all that the result of
findings on the on-going investigation will be made public.”

CrimeLagos Traditional Ruler, 3 Others Arrested Over Badoo Killings by ExAngel007(op): 7:05am On Aug 01, 2017
A traditional ruler of a community in Ikorodu area of Lagos has been arrested alongside three others in connection with activities of Badoo cult’s killings in the community with the latest on Sunday claiming the lives of a family of four at Oke- Ota Ibeshe community.

The traditional ruler, identified simply as Awoyemi, was said to have been arrested for allowing his domain to be used as haven for badoo boys to perform rituals with human blood.

This is coming on the heels of the uncovering of shrines used by Badoo members to perform rituals at the end of any operation by Police operatives.
It was gathered that five graves, big-horned figurines, as well as left over sacrifices were discovered at the shrines located in a forest in Agbowa area of Ikorodu.

Badoo shrine

Police sources hinted that owner of the shrine, one Alaka Abayomi and two operators, whose identities were given as Christian Junior and Bamidele Owoyemi, were arrested in the shrine.

Operatives including the Inspector-General of Police Special Tactical Squad, STS, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in - charge of Operations, Imohimi Edgar, who acted on intelligence, stormed the forest in the early hours of yesterday.

Owner of the shrine, Abayomi, took policemen and journalists round the shrines. Entry into some of the rooms housing the shrines was almost impossible as they had iron doors.

Most residents, who expressed joy over the raid of the shrines, lamented that several complaints of atrocities committed there did not yield the desired result.

They also accused traditional rulers of some communities in Ikorodu of allegedly sponsoring the Badoo boys, calling on the Police to carry out discreet investigation that would expose the perpetrators.

Police sources said: “Yes, two operators of the shrines in a thick forest in Agbowa area of Ikorodu have been arrested, alongside two others. They are major suspects in yesterday’s (Sunday) incident.

“By this arrest, traditional rulers in Ikorodu should know that their exalted office has privileges and responsibilities. Since they have subjects within their domains, they should educate them on the need to identify residents, particularly new people that are moving into their areas.

“Members of badoo live in their communities. With the security measures put in place, no external person can come and commit atrocity in Ikorodu.

“Traditional rulers in the axis should not fold their hands and watch people being killed in their domains. They should alsodiscourage their subjects from building inside the bush.”

Spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Olarinde Famous- Cole, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the raid of the shrine, promising to give detailed report on the arrest soon.

CrimeJudge Orders Two Inmates Convicted For Stealing To Be Given 36 Strokes Of Cane by ExAngel007(op): 11:15am On Jul 29, 2017
According to legal practitioner and a member of the NGO, Joint Legal Action Aid, Cyril Odiboh, two inmates of the Federal Prisonin Ubiaja, Edo state who were convicted for stealing cassava are being flogged 36 strokes of the cane twice every week aspart of their punishment for stealing.

Speaking to LIB, thelawyer said he was in court yesterday and he witnessed the
incident. He said himself and his team would be appealing the judgment and would do a research to find out if the court wentout of line by asking the inmates to be flogged. What he wroteon his Facebook page below

FOUR INMATES of the Federal Prisons in Ubiaja, who were CONVICTED OF STEALING CASSAVA from their victims farm, were flogged thirty six strokes of cane respectively, in the Magistrate Court, yesterday. They have been receiving this hellish odeal every Tuesday and Thursday for the first threemonths of their twelve calendar months prison sentence.

Only an appeal of the judgement can save the prisoners from the horrific experience I witnessed them go through at court yesterday. It is particularly of concern to me, more because no convicted fraudsters, politician or vandals of our common wealth has ever been sentenced to such hellish experience of thirty six strokes of canning twice in a week. Could it be because the convicts were too poor to afford legal representation?

My heart bleeds for the poor and the needy who are tempted to steal food for their survival. Esan South East of Edo State must be a no go area oh. Pray not to be charged to the Magistrate Court in Ubiaja, it may become your road to Guantanamo concentration hell.

Only an appeal to the high Court can vary the terms of their convictions. But unfortunately the high Courts are on break, until September.

May God have mercy on His people.

Veteran author/actor, Adebayo Faleti, died on July 22nd at a hospital in Ibadan after a brief illness. His wife, Abosede, did an interview with The Nation where she reminisced on the time she spent with her husband. According to her, they were so
close that she wore his pants and underwear in their home.

“We were so close to the extent that I wore his pants and underwear. Up until his death, if you come to our house very early in the morning, maybe around 6am, I wear his clothes all around the house before getting dressed or set for the day’s
activities. Baba was always willing to give me his Buba to wear.

We were so close. We were very close during his lifetime. From the time my parents sent me out after I took in (got pregnant) for him, he accepted me and my child and promised me that no hurt will come to me. He fulfilled his promises. Since we got married, I don’t eat alone, I will only eat when he gets back from work. He does the same thing by not eating out until he gets home because he knew I wouldn’t eat until he gets back from work.”she said

PoliticsWe Need Abuja Governor Not Minister – Indigenes by ExAngel007(op): 7:20pm On Jul 15, 2017
Indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, have called on the
Federal Government to accord state status to the territory so they can elect a
governor.

The indigenes under the aegis of Original Inhabitants Development Association
of Abuja (OIDA), said that the situation where a minister in appointed to just
develop teh center was not favourable.

Pastor Danladi Jeji, President of OIDA, made the call on Saturday in Abuja,
during a town hall meeting by FCT natives on the future of Abuja indigenes.

FCT Indigenes at a recent protest to the National Assembly

Jeji said that for over 41 years, several resettlement and relocation experiments
were carried out in the FCT by various governments, but “no headway due to
policy inconsistencies.’’

He said that if the natives were allowed to elect their governor, members of
house of assembly, and more local area councils created, there would be more
accountability and development.

“The failure of the Federal Government to resettle, relocate and compensate our
people at the initial cost of N2.8 billion in 1978 has led to several policies
summersaults.

“In spite of all the challenges, we are still here, and we are not prepared to go
anywhere, because we have nowhere to go.

“All we want is to also be represented in the Federal Executive Council,’’ Jeji
said, adding, “ the natives no longer want a city-centred minister that focuses
on developing elite districts.’’

He stressed that the constitution should be amended to reflect cosmopolitan
nature of Abuja.

Jeji said: “This is our own idea of restructuring, a restructuring based on
devolution of governmental powers from federal authorities to Abuja city
authorities.

“We no longer want the present military contraption, where a minister is
appointed to run the Federal Capital Territory like a cantonment.
“We must change the constitution to reflect our wishes for a modern and
cosmopolitan capital city.’’

The president promised to sustain the struggle for FCT natives’ emancipation
through constitutional amendments at the National Assembly, through peaceful
dialogue and negotiations.

CrimeImporters Of Fake Drugs To Get Life Sentence — NAFDAC Director by ExAngel007(op): 7:08pm On Jul 15, 2017
Following the mind boggling seizure of two 40ft trucks of substandard drugs
intercepted by the Federal Operations Unit, FOU, of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS,
the Director of Investigations, National Agency for Food, Drugs, Administration
and Control, NAFDAC, Mr. Ejiofor Kingsley, has said that importers of fake and
substance drugs into Nigeria will get life imprisonment once the National
Assembly approves a bill by the agency seeking for such punishment.

He disclosed this in a chat with Sunday Vanguard , during the inspection of the
Customs warehouse at Ikeja, where the Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the
Unit, Comptroller Mohammed Uba Garba, handed over 1,442 cartons of drugs
seized by his officers through intelligence network in Lagos.

Kingsley also the Chairman of Taskforce on counterfeiting drugs said, “Now
15years imprisonment or a fine of 500.000 is the current punishment for such
offence, and it is not severe enough because taking fake drugs is like giving
people poison. Imagine if the officers of FOU had not intercepted this huge
quantity of substandard drugs, the dangers innocent Nigerians will be exposed
to in buying such drugs. At present, we have over 60 cases fake drugs related
issues in court. In Port Harcourt recently we had similar seizure of substandard
drugs. In 2017 alone, we have recorded seizures of fakes drugs worth over
N11billion. You can see the huge quantity and the health implications involved
in this deadly act”.

Also speaking, the CAC said, “The seizure of the fake drugs was made possible
through the resilience of our officers who foiled the antics of smugglers
notwithstanding their methods of concealment. This shows the commitments of
CGC Ali Hameed and his management team in continually repositioning the
Service for greater effectiveness. Influx of fake drugs is a deadly trend that must
be taken seriously because millions of lives of Nigerians are involved”.

Sunday Vanguard observed that the substandard pharmaceutical products
concealed in different cartons include Tramadol 120mg, Diclofenac Potassium
tables 50mg made from India and many other drugs. The items were fully
loaded in trucks with registration number RRU 513 XA, LSR 99 XK and
container number MSKU 9883956. The method of concealment looked so
sophisticated and would require a thorough search to detect the real contents.
