The Arab States have counselled Qatar to shut down Al Jazeera Televison for good if it wants to remain a part of the influential Middle East body . This is one of the 13 -point agenda handed down to Qatar , which is currently facing diplomatic row with many countries, including its brother Arab states. The Saudi Arabia-led alliance regards Al Jazeera, the most widely watched broadcaster in the Arab world, as a propaganda tool for Islamists, which they believe also undermines support for their governments . The coalition warns that Qatar ’s emir “ must realise that the solution to his crisis is not with Tehran, Beirut or Ankara, or Western capitals and the media , but [a solution] is through the return of confidence in him by his neighbours ,” UAE ’s minister of state for foreign affairs, Anwar Gargash, wrote on Twitter . Obviously, the demands were expected to be a private discussion between Qatar and the Arab states, but having made it public , the states rebuked Qatar for “ leaking the demands and concerns of its neighbours” to the press and the western world . Kuwait has handed Qatar a list of demands by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, the Qatari broadcaster, Al Jazeera, reported earlier Friday. Kuwait said the list has not been sanctioned by either Qatar or Kuwait , which has been trying to mediate between the two sides . Gargash argued that the “ crisis is real ” and is being ignited by the “ confused” administration of Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. “ Sometimes, divorce is better ,” Gargash wrote. The Qatari emir ’s role in providing “ funding , a media andpolitical platform” to serve “the agenda of extremism cannot be accepted, ” he said. Al- Jazeera Media Network is owned and funded by the Qatari royal family. The network , especially the Arabic-language channel , has repeatedly angered Arab leaders since its establishment in 1996 , shaking up a broadcasting world until then dominated by government mouthpieces. One of the biggest disputes was in 2002 , when Saudi Arabia withdrew its ambassador to Doha to protest at Al Jazeera ’s “ negative” coverage of Saudi politics . In recent years, critics have argued that it is strongly supportive of Islamists, especially Egypt ’s now -banned Muslim Brotherhood . On June 5, the four countries severed diplomatic ties and transportation links with Qatar , accusing it of supporting terrorism . Doha has repeatedly denied the accusations. The four countries have not made their demands public yet . Later in June, several African countries cut relations with Qatar and others downgraded ties. On Wednesday , U . S . Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urged the Arab countries involved in a diplomatic spat with Qatar to present their demands . “ Our role has been to encourage the parties to get their issues on the table, clearly articulated , so that those issues can be addressed and some resolution process can get underway to bring this to a conclusion, ” he said. “ Our desire is for unity within the Gulf ,” he added. Several Qataris who spoke to Reuters described the demands as unreasonable. “ Imagine another country demanding that CNN be closed ,”said 40 -year - old Haseeb Mansour , who works for telecom operator Ooredoo. Some traders in Umuahia, Abia state, may have found the reason behind the hardship they may have been experiencing in their businesses in recent times if this story is anything to go by. According to reports by a Facebook user, Emmanuel Maduka Nwazue, a man confessed to being responsible for the hardship his colleagues in the timber business were facing. The man was caught with some fetish materials (juju) including padlocks, which he said he used in locking up his colleagues, after lying initially that they were for his protection (against what abeg?). Sharing the post on Facebook, Nwazue wrote: "It's past 11pm, I started hearing some crowd noise downstairs with periodic shout of "Aaamen" as the crowd responded with same chorus, "Aaamen." I picked up my phone and called someone who simply told me to come down and see for myself. It was a mob and in their midst was this young man whose images you view. He was found with so many fetish items which included 23 locked and some smashed padlocks of different sizes, dagger, concoction etc. This guy had had his two sons as well as his mother die mysteriously and his wife run away. This he confirmed while fielding questions. Answering my questions on what he does with the padlocks he said they were for protection. But that was far from the truth as he later confessed to locking up his fellow trader at the timber market with two of the padlocks. The man's undoing was that he gave him goods worth 3.5 million naira to which he paid only N1m and decided to cage the man from asking for his balance of N2.5m. He chained a man whom he owed some money, so that he wouldn't ask for a balanceHe went ahead to name a certain trader known as Ngige at thetimber market as having contracted him to cage other traders in the market. There we saw padlocks tied severally with black and white treads as well as chains. His victims were very many as he started naming them one after another. At this point, the mob got angrier and were baying for his blood and to avoid what was about taking place, I had to call the state PPRO who dispatched some policemen to the scene. To think that the young man was the same person I always meet in a nearby store where I get some household items is terrifying. He looked gentle and harmless as we often exchanged pleasantries. IF THE LORD DOES NOT WATCH THE CITY. " See more pictures below:

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Wednesday, June 21, reacted to a viral video of an officer caught on camera using Point of Sale (POS) machine to collect bribe. Many Nigerians had expressed dismay at the attitude of the officer, which they said represented the level of corruption in the Nigeria Police Force. NAIJ.com gathered that Abayomi Shogunle, the Assistant Commissioner Of Police, Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit in a statement released on its Facebook page said the force once used handheld machines to verify vehicle registration details. Shogunle also asked anyone who at anytime paid bribe to a police officer using a POS to come forward with proof. It was reported earlier that the incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, June 20, Olowora Street, in Mafoluku area of Oshodi. The Punch reports that a trader close to the scene of the incident noted that policemen from the Makinde division sometime stayed at the junction to extort money from motorists and motorcycle riders. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the command was aware of the video, adding that the policeman involved was arrested and detained. He said: “The policeman was on a stop-and-search on Tuesday. From what we gathered, he stopped a commercial motorcycle rider who was carrying a passenger with a bag. He asked the passenger what he had in his bag and he stated them. “The policeman searched the bag and found the POS terminal and other documents. When he asked him what he was doing with the POS, the man claimed he was using it to pay utility bills and that he worked with an electricity distribution company. “The policeman demanded a proof of identification and he tendered it. The policeman then asked him to go since there was nothing implicating on him. Unknown to all of them, a passerby was filming the scene without their knowledge. “We arrested the policeman initially. But this morning (Wednesday), we saw the same commercial motorcycle rider and asked him to give an account of what transpired. The rider gave the same account, saying the policeman did not collect any money from the passenger.” https://www.naij.com/1111352-i-challenge-paid-pos-bribe-contact-authority-police-reacts-viral-video-photo.html
