Two childhood friends , Yusuf Sanni and Ahmed Sosan, have parted on a tragic note after a fight broke out between them on Alhaji Alla Street , Morcas , Agege , Lagos State. Sosan, a Chadian, reportedly stabbed Sanni in the chest during the fight on the New Year’s Day. The fight reportedly resulted from the deceased ’ s refusal to lend his friend a pair of glasses. PUNCH Metro learnt that Sosan had visited Sanni , who lived on Alhaji Alla Street , and met him at the frontage of his residence, chatting with other friends . He was said to have asked to borrow the spectacles used by the victim , who declined the request. Afterwards , Sosan reportedly attempted to get the glasses forcefully and the situation degenerated into a fight , during which Sanni beat him up. A resident, who identified himself only as Sikiru , said after they were separated, Sosan went home in anger only to return a few minutes later with a knife which he used to stab his friend. He said, “They were friends . Yusuf ( Sanni ) is from the North, while Ahmed ( Sosan) hails from Chad and lives with his parents . Ahmed wanted Yusuf to give him the glasses he used on that day , but he refused . He tried to forcefully take the glasses and it led to a fight . “It was around 2 pm, after the Zuhr ( 2 pm) prayer , that Ahmed came with a knife . He hid it inside his clothes . As they resumed the fight , he brought it out and stabbed Yusuf in the chest. Yusuf bled from the nose and mouth and people rushed him to a clinic . He died on arrival.” Another resident , Salau Ajidagba , said policemen from the Alabo Police Division were alerted to the incident. He stated that before the policemen arrived , a mob had descended on the suspect and beaten him up, while another group tried to rescue him and prevent his arrest . “When policemen came, his sympathisers hauled stones at them . They did not want the policemen to take the corpse or arrest the suspect. The policemen called for reinforcement and an Armoured Personnel Carrier was brought by the Rapid Response Squad. “The police used tear gas before they were able to arrest him and remove the corpse around 5 pm,” Ajidagba added. When our correspondent visited the deceased ’s house on Wednesday , he was directed to one of the deceased’ s elder brothers, identified as Baba. Baba said the family had accepted Sanni ’s death “ as an act of God ” and had resolved to settle the case amicably . He said, “I was not around when the incident happened. I was called on the telephone to come for the burial of my brother . They ( Sanni and Sosan) grew up together as friends . It was an accident and we don ’t want any publication on the matter .” A trader , who spoke on condition of anonymity, urged the police to prosecute the suspect to serve as a deterrent to others . “This is not the first time an incident like this would happen here. Those boys would not change because they are being shielded through amicable resolution . If it were a Yoruba man that killed him ( Sanni ) , no shop would open today ( Wednesday) because there would be bloody violence, ” he added. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer , SP Chike Oti, confirmed Sanni ’ s death , adding that the case had been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba. “The corpse has been taken to the Mainland General Hospital morgue for autopsy . Investigation is in progress, ” he added . http://punchng.com/chadian-kills-friend-in-lagos-for-not-lending-him-glasses/ |

[sup][/sup]UNIVERSITY GRADUATE CONSTRUCT HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER PLANT, GENERATE ELECTRICITY 32 years old Augustine Otuokwa Ogar, a graduate ofElectronic and Computer Technology, has constructed a200 Mega Watts mini Hydroelectric power plant thatgenerate electricity for the plant site and itssurrounding Mgbaeshuo village of Wula Community,Eastern Boki, Boki LGA, Cross River State. Remarkable and exceptional Augustine Otuokwa Ogar, constructed this Hydroelectric Plant with locally selected handpicked materials and equipments and intelligently put them together. He converts the kinetic energy of a flowing stream water into electric energy that is now used in homes and business areas of this village. Generated on a small scale with 'run-off' installation of a naturally flowing stream water to turn and revolve its turbine. The Water rushes past the turbine, hitting its blades and causing it to spin and rotate, converting the water's kinetic energy into mechanical energy, the water then finally flows out of the stream and continues its journey down stream. "When the turbine spins so does the electromagnetic field convert this mechanical energy into electric energy" he said and continue, "the flow rate of the stream water is low, because its not a dam or water fall, this is a small stream with low flowing water, Yet I was able to convert it to bring Pressure and fall like a Dam." Augustine Otuokwa Ogar, needs encouragement, support, total empowerment from Government and spirited Nigerians. If he can generate power from his locally constructed Hydroelectric power plant then, with Empowerment, he can construct a more Ingenious energy generating plant that can serve the entire Local Government and Senatorial Zone. https://mobile.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1529594697087828&id=100001119368477&refid=7&ref=opera_speed_dial_freefb&_ft_=qid.6507098303743677637%3Amf_story_key.4228059754026646419%3Atop_level_post_id.186713355404633&__tn__=C-R

There are indications that the lingering poor power supply in the country may not be anytime over as three days into the new year, the nation has recorded another system collapse. electricity Vanguard gathered from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) that the collapse occurred at about 14.19 hours yesterday. TCN stated that it “regrets to report another system collapse at about 14.19hours today (yesterday) 3rd January, 2018. Preliminary information from NCC indicated that the tripping of Odukpani-Ikot Ekpene 330kV line, cut off generation from Odukpani Power Station to the grid. Restoration of the grid has reached advanced stage. TCN has also commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the system disturbance and the outcome will publicised,” it stated. The system disturbance was said to have happened at a time when work on the Western Gas Pipeline by the Nigerian Gas Company, NGC which earlier caused system collapse at about 21.17hours on Tuesday, January 2, is yet to be completed. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/01/electricity-blackout-nigeria-records-system-collapse/ |
